Belly Dancers, Bootcamps & Balinese Massages yo! Prince Hotel's Fit For Life is back in action

June 10, 2010 by thejessicat

This the season to get fit!

Haha in fact, everyday's a season to get fit. It depends on our willpower after excruciatingly looking at the figure on that weighing scale.

I was recently invited to Prince Hotel KL's Fit For Life campaign this year! Back by popular demand, I was ecstatic to know that it's here again 😀 😀 So anyways, this time round Eccucino restaurant features the exciting and healthy selection of cuisine designed with low cholesterol and calorie intake again.

But it still tastes delightful! Just, less sinful 😀

I like how they put up lil info cards on the dishes! Learn a new thing a day

Executive Chef DJ and his culinary team with the advisory of HSC Medical Center’s professional Dietitians, have specially prepared a wide selection of dishes and drinks suitable for this Fit For Life campaign. Whoa. Professionals in their fields making sure our meals are in tiptop health goodness!

ooo really? 😀 I didn't know that till today!

What I found really cute was this. If you've been to Eccucino in Prince Hotel, you would know that they have this mega awesome huge chocolate fondue fountain there. But in line with this campaign, they put up a mini fondue fountain instead!

So tiny compared to the huge one! 😀

In addition, we were all encouraged to take a blood pressure measurement from the peeps at HSC Medical center.

With the friendly consultants 🙂

Yaaayy! My blood pressure and diastolic systolic info are all normal!!

😀 😀 whoopie doo! That's something good to know

And it's dancing time! 😀 We were treated to a really cool showcase of Belly Dancing and Hip Hop dancing from Celebrity Fitness as well as Line Dancing from i-Dance Studio and more!

And the best part was, I was dragged in to dance with all of them too! 😀 I initially didn't want to but when everyone proceeded, I was like "Ahhh what the heck, I should give this a try! haha" We danced to a very foreign routine of Line Dancing (to me at least!)

or.. was it Square Dancing? I can't tell the difference!

haha #fail me 😛

So after that I went checkin' out the displays and showcases they had there. Guess what I saw!

NO SUGAR CHOCOLATE DRINK! lalalalala~ 😀 😀 oh the joy

We were given a taste of that hot chocolate during dinner too and it tasted fab!

On to some of the food prepared for us! There was just so many, I couldn't possibly shoot each and every single one.. but here's my top faves 😀 😀

Prawns 😀

They were really aromatic and fresh!

Baked fish!

Loved the texture. Ima fish lover so this one was really my cuppa tea 😀

Another kinda fish!

Ohhh the joy 😀 This one had a tangy flavour to it 🙂 🙂

Chicken!

Now this one has some pandan-ish aroma to it, goes fab with the dipping sauce too

Chicken and beef cuts! 😀

Reminds me of kebabs hehe

Chilly prawnssss! 😀

RAWWRRR oh the goodness. Spicy!

Oh and here's a mish mash of what I ate 😀

FYI that grainy thing near the broccoli is not rice 😀

It's risotto – one of my fave! If you haven't tried it you should, aye?

As usual, there was a live cooking demonstration at the Action Station!

😀 I had teppanyaki there hehe

Beside that display table, was something very invigorating 😀 Just the sight of it makes me think of all those Bali massages!

Tea, comfy chair, flowers, tub of water, essential oils, hot pebbles – check!

Pretty things all from Mandara Spa!

To my delight, we were also given a complimentary Balinese massage by these lovely masseurs!

Ahhhhhh. This is the life 😀

Sidney and I enjoying our 5 minutes head and shoulder massage!

There was a bootcamp presentation too. I've heard so much about it but haven't seen it with my very own eyes before! Much like national service but tougher and well… I bet it won't be easy! 🙁 🙁 but with sheer determination and energy, I'm sure we'll all do fine

I even signed up for it too! 😀

Can't wait for my 1st session

Thanks guys for the wholesome experience! 🙂 I had an amazing time as usual. So wutcha waiting for, fellas? 😀 if you're up for a healthy yet delicious meal, you know where to go 😀 😀 No need to starve yourselves silly!

Oh and guess what! Someone made a special appearance that night too!

It's the author of 'Not Another Good Food Guide KL', Alice Yong 🙂 She's written a series of 'Not Another Good Food Guide' of many places around the world, I've looked through the Bangkok one sometime before in the bookstore

Love her books. They're really informational, creative and lived up to it's name, heck, it IS not another good food guide after all. Go get your copy! it's available in MPH and Kinokuniya

And now I'm finally meeting the brains behind those fabulous books 🙂

woots! An autographed version of this copy now sits prettily in my car, so if you ask me where to eat….

JUST FLIP IT OPEN! 😀

Whoops just realized i haven't had breakfast. Imma grab some cereal with milk now.. hey! I'm trying to be healthy too thankewverymuch 😀

I saw the real trophy! FIFA World Cup trophy tour at its Malaysian stop, watch all 64 football matches live in HD on Astro Byond

May 25, 2010 by thejessicat

Oooooookayy!

This post is gonna be about footie! 😀

I know most lads are excited for this, heck, some of my guy friends are even hurling their arses overseas just to watch it with their very own eyes! 😀 😀 It's 2010's FIFA World Cup of course, the massive football fever that happens every 4 years!  (and when wives/girlfriends have to put up with their husband/boyfriend glued to the telly every night for a month)

Back this year, the FIFA World Cup will be held in South Africa! 😀

Here I am with a true blue South African bro from the hood

Last week, Astro threw its doors open to a grand launch! Now, loads of footie fans can watch all 64 FIFA matches live in High Definition (HD) 😀 Can you believe it? We can enjoy the FIFA euphoria on 12 channels altogether too!

This will be very first HD Broadcast on FIFA World Cup on Astro Byond!

Kicking off the mark of a complete viewing experience! 😀

Plus, interactive features such as news updates, results, statistics, player's profile, live chats and football online games

Best part is, for those of you who don't know English, you can watch selected live matches on Astro Arena (for BM) and Astro Wah Lah Toi (for Chinese). In support of localization yo!

Oh and for those of you who don't watch telly, you can still catch the live video streaming of FIFA World Cup

on www.astro.com.my/stadiumastro

Courtesy of Astrolife, we had the chance to catch the real FIFA World Cup trophy in its round-the-world trophy tour! One of its stops was our city, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia! It was held in Mid Valley Megamall. Hen duo ren ah!!

The insides were packed with footie fans!

Buddy Bart was such a good company and we had lotsa fun roaming about the whole FIFA footie fiesta and nomnoms too 😀 I think it was a coincidence that we were wearing red! And no, I'm not supporting Spain 😛 Don't know if he is!

Wow looks like everything around us is red too haahha 😀

Let's go exploring!

Cannot believe it! I'm moments away from having the real trophy within a whisker of me. And no, the huge-ass poster does not count 😛

TIme to go in!

When we entered the arena, there were lotsa people all dressed up in the spirit of FIFA. Football jersy, check! Painted face, check! Crazy wigs, check! They were running around greeting everyone who entered 😀 Such a pleasant surprise!

As those were in support of South Africa, here's one that's rooting for Switzerland!

Check out the flag on his cheek 😀

But what turned out a more pleasant surprise was this!

Awwwwwwwww isn't he adorable?

Meet our mascot this year! 😀

We were in awe the moment we walked further in. Live football games everywhere, world flags, mascots and so many people were engrossed in the football themed activities they had for us! Can't wait to play

Game on!

In the background, Bart getting all sweaty playing a football game. It's this motion censor-like screen with footballs flying everywhere, and the player has to juggle and kick all the balls upwards so that it doesn't touch the ground.

Much like balancing the ball up and passing it to another player with your head… the way the football players do!

While he's busy playing, I was busy by standing and blowing my honky tonk

yeah, everyone get's one as their door gift! It honks really REALLY loud

As coca-cola was one of the sponsors, they had their giant sized coke bottle on display almost everywhere! It's bouncy and real huge! Lotsa people were leaning on it and it still stood strong in all its glory 😀 Yours truly included.

Some virtual football passing game too. You really have to use your own body and strength to do it :D

So everyone was all hyped up playing, camwhoring, blowing their honky tonks and cheering including us! It was deafening in every sense of the word. Bart wanted a jumpshot on this mini field so I followed suit.

#fail 🙁

I was just preparing to jump!

Yayyyy!! Gogogo Germany! 😀

There were lots to see too. Merchandises, showcases, action figurines and more. Don't know if they were up for sale or not, but they sure were cute! Miniature too 🙂 🙂 Collector's item yo

There was even an African man playing the rural percussions and sharing with us a wee bit on South African culture

Lotsa books and mags too for reference

We finally had enough of the whole heeby-jibby, which took us so many hours. How can a World Cup fever subside so fast while its in the middle of the heat? 😀 Finally, it was time we decided to lay our eyes on the gambit of the afternoon – the FIFA trophy!

But before that, we had to watch the 3D FIFA commercial in the darkroom 😀

If you ask me, it was very well done. Touching & melancholic too!

After the commercial, we took off our 3D glasses and proceeded to where the trophy was. Woots!

And there it is! 😀 The real thang passed down for decades and decades!

Each of us had a framed polaroid photograph of it, in close proximity! 🙂 🙂 🙂 I touched the golden wonder, albeit the barrier of the glass box. But STILL 😛 Happy maximus! It's on blu-taped to my wardrobe now. Would like to scan it here but devoid of one. Bah! 🙁 Till next time fellas! 😀

In the meantime, we're planning a World Cup Tweet-Up, to watch the live matches together! More of that soon

Having fun and progress at My Body Secrets! Hopefully I lose MORE weight *evil grin*

April 10, 2010 by thejessicat

Continuation from my 1st session at My Body Secrets !

Technically, this is my 2nd week patronizing the place already. I have to say again about how I sense the homeliness and felt so cosy each time I stepped into their outlet here at Kota Damansara.

I know you've more or less seen photos of the place already when I first blogged about it but this time, Imma give you a video walkthrough! I don't know if I've mentioned about how nice and melancholic the songs are, throughout the entire session.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=craH3lstrQw&feature=player_embedded

You can hear the song from the video! I don't know what song it is, but I sure do love it!

It's really relaxing and they also play other country, folk, blues and jazz songs to set the mood too 🙂

They will usually measure your weight each time you return from another session. It's wise to cut down on specific food intake especially Carbohydrates and not eat SO MUCH. This is because you burn fat healthily with the help of professionals here, so what's the point of stacking it all up again by eating like a King?

On the weighing machine! 😀

Bumped into a friend, Wilson, at the center too! 🙂 What a coincidence… looks like men are vain too! 😛 😛 Heck, practically anyone can go to My Body Secrets. Doesn't matter if you're fat, very fat, obese, extremely overweight or only have a little baby fat around your tummy, love handles or jiggly arms.

You can even just go there to tone yourself up!

My intended goal is to lose at least 5KG (more please!!)

I ain't to sure about him, I think he was put on a 15KG goal?

Hee. I sneaked a few pictures of him while he was semi-naked doing his treatment but was sworn to secrecy not to publish them on my blog. When I teased him by asking him why, he retorted "NOT DECENT MAAA!! I SO UGLY AND THE ANGLE ALSO NOT NICE.. DON'T WANT AHH!!" 😛 😛

Yes I know, was just kidding about posting your indecency in my blog, you Santa Claus!

The little lighted candle and towel on each of the beds!

Yay! I found out that I got the same person who 'did me' the 1st week. LOL

As I mentioned before, I liked how the staff are always so attentive, gracious and have excellent customer service!

Mary and I even made fast friends

On another note : I look freakin weird! Just like I came outta the bathroom or something 😛

Now this is where it gets a little personal, ey?

It's what you peeps don't see behind the curtains!

Gotta wear a shower cap so that your sweat doesn't get into your hair and such!

Check out Mary bundling me up in plastic cling wrap 🙂

She's damn strong I tell ya, the vibration was really powerful 🙂 Just like a good massage

It's a thingy called the G5 where all my stubborn fats and cellulite were to broke down!

woo hooo! Begone I tell ya… begone! 😀 😀

All these special and expensive treatments are actually just an add-on to the healthy diet and lifestyle that you yourself must ensure you follow. My Body Secrets always puts health first, and thus.. automatically helping you lose the extra unsightly fats & weight. No point going for all these professional treatments and then smoke like a chimney, drink like a sillyfish and eat like it's the last day on planet Earth 🙂

Makes sense right?

Am about to be cooked and marinaded!

haha kidding. it's an inside joke 😀

I'm actually all wrapped up and oiled with Ginseng inside a heat blanket 🙂 This is where all your fats and toxins get perspired out.

So wish me luck! 😀 I wanna be back to my initial weight of 50kg+ . Apparently for my height, I was told that my perfect BMI (Body Mass Index) is 55KG. But I wanna be a skinny bitch LOL so there! I know My Body Secrets can guide me to a healthy weight!

Oh and good news!

I am STILL giving away vouchers for a treatment + full consultation worth RM388 per voucher FOR FREE to you gurls (and guys) who feel like giving this a try! No harm in losing weight healthily right? Why don't you give something your body needs? 🙂 Hey, it's better than the intense pressure and whatever one goes through on The Biggest Loser Asia.

SO TELL ME WHY YOU WANT IT, AND IT'S YOURS! 😉 😉

have fun at your session!

Head on to their Facebook fanpage for more info 🙂

Our Amazing Race one-day trip to Genting Highlands with my Monash Uni peeps!

March 22, 2010 by thejessicat

So are you going to the Genting Bash?

Yes I am!

So you're going to the Genting Bash right?

YES.

For those of you who didn't quite get that inside joke, refer to my previous post on a certain weird loser my gurls and I encountered on our 1st day in University. Anyway, here we all are, in Genting Highlands for Monash Uni's own version of The Amazing Race!

Arrived at around noon for lunchie!

We were separated into random groups, to encourage socializing. Daym! It felt weird at first, but we all got along pretty darn well! Too well in fact 😀 Considering the fact that all of us had one goal in mind – to be the FIRST to arrive the final destination and win our Amazing Race, we constantly  pumped up each other's fighting spirit!

So multi-racial right, my team! 😀 😀

Black white yellow brown LOLOL

So we were given clues to crack and riddles to solve. But that's not all! We were supposed to scout for the Monash fugitive too! He's on a run and we're supposed to identify who he was based on the hints given.

We ran with all our might in hopes to beat the other team's time! Call us competitive? We're in Malaysia yo – KIASUness rules 😀

Whilst undertaking the challenges, we stopped to camwhore and stuff ourselves silly with cotton candy!

Not to mention, ice cream too!

The clues made us count how many rotations the Giant Swing did, spin in a Teacup till we got really giddy, sit on the Ferris Wheel, shoot up the Spaceshot, rode the Pirate Ship and sing 'Mary Had a Little Lamb' in public! Ohhh the pain of our dignity! HAHAHAHA

And it's down down down the Underground Flume Ride we go!

We're all in this together~

When I walked past the fun fair carnival thingy, I couldn't help but to give a bear hug to someone!

I think it's a good idea put it in my car to scare of the baddies 😛

Then again, it doesn't even bear a slight malevolence!

The best part of this game was that we knew Genting Highlands too well! Whenever we discovered that the next clue will be at a certain ride or destination, we lead the group and ran straight there. Hardly any maps were used!

Our playground for the day

Unearth all the clues we shall!

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy – or in this case, makes Jess a very, very restless girl. Throughout our race, we rode a few rides! The queue was dreadfully long but we waited anyway. Hey, we didn't just come here ONLY to win! Where's the fun in that? 😀

Taken after our Spiderman-Superman-whateverman ride!

I've rode this thing approximately 7 times in my life already

So I let the rest of my team mates enjoy the aforementioned ride while I camwhored 😀

The both of us didn't ride the Superman thingy!

Waiting for the Corkscrew was the most painstaking thing of the day. The line backed up to even way past the entrance gate! So Carl and I camwhored whilst waiting for time to slip by…

Corkscrew was exhilarating!

Although I am a self-proclaimed rollercoaster daredevil, I had my eyes shut most of the time 😛

Simply because I like the adrenalin rush but hate the sight of being tossed and thrown in the air!

After the rides, my team began loitering around in search for more rides.. that was when I bumped into buddy Sue Ann in the Indoor themepark! We were split up into different groups since morning T__T

Our team then continued exploring Genting Highlands and rode on more rides till it was time to go. This was one ride that got us all splashing wet! Was pretty thrilling but I despised the part where I had no idea where to keep my DSLR lest it gets soaked too 🙁

Our last ride was the Sungai Rejang Flume Ride!

Now to find a nice spot to sit while we dry ourselves……

The wait before the winners were announced was postponed because the last team didn't make it in time! Drats. So there we were, approximately 300 people sitting on the lobby floor like illegal immigrants -_____- Okay don't care. A huge-ass picture of me! I was bored – don't judge me! 😛 😛

OKAY HURRY UP.

They finally arrived and all the other teams cursed at them like there was no tomorrow – albeit in a joking manner of course 😀 So in the end, after the calculations we emerged Top 3! We were the 3rd team to reach the final destination – and found the Monash Fugitive too 😀

Go team go! RAWWWRRRRR spirit of fighters!

We ripped open the hampers and shared the goodies all among ourselves

Till now, I still can't believe everything was done within a day! 😀

Wow! Flying Foxes at Skytrex Adventure @ Bukit Cahaya, Shah Alam!

March 17, 2010 by thejessicat

Who would've thought I would agree to waking up at an unearthly hour at 6.30AM to defy gravity by swinging from tree to tree? How about walking in a zig-zag position on nothing but strips of wooden planks suspended more than 70metres in the air?

Don't look down, Jess. Don't look down.

Yup, I chose to have that moment of exhilaration over my beauty sleep. It better be worth it! For my long-time readers out there, yall would know that I completely detest mornings.. make that VERY EARLY MORNINGS. I would yank the covers over my head and bury my head under the pillow if I didn't see a dire need to wake up early.

But how my mind categorized a Skytrex Adventure as a 'dire need' was beyond me

So by invitation courtesy of Visiber, off I went up the hill in Shah Alam to put my Sky Trekking skills, stamina and durability to test 🙂 Thanks guys! Hopefully I won't break a bone or come crashing down to the ground 70 feet below. That's what safety nets are for by the way

Okay.. now for the gloves…

Johnson, meme & Chris

Upon choosing the Big Thrill Adventure (there was a Little Adventure and an Extreme Challenge Adventure), we were briefed by the instructors about what to expect and got our *stinky* gloves from the deck 🙂 Okay lah, it wasn't stinky. If you didn't buy a new pair at RM5, then you'll get the stinky ones 😀 Hint : BRING YOUR OWN

I did the Big Thrill challenge okay! Don't play play 😀

Was initially confident that it was gonna be easy peasy lemon squeezy since I used to be an athlete back in high school AND go to the gym often. But when I saw this…..

My jaw dropped 🙁

Am i supposed to climb that thing with my bare hands? Where's Tarzan and his vines?

So I brushed that thought aside, and headed off to the Gear-Up deck with Fong Mei to get our harnesses, hook & pulleys, carabineer and V Landyard. Yeah, it's prolly jargon to you as it was to me on that very morning but hey, didn't you just learn something new? 😀 😀

This is a carabineer!

If you don't have this you won't be able to swing from tree to tree!

Getting harnessed up with the equipments hanging around me

It was good to know that the peeps at Skytrex-Adventure were really well trained. Safety first! They made sure our harnesses were well fastened and even let us go on a dry run before the real deal 🙂

Yeah, so just in case you fall down down down down downnnn~

You'd just bump your head and not break your ribs

So after I passed the "test", it was time to face the trees. I did lots and lots of warming up – lest I get a leg cramp right up there and no one can save me even if I screamed my lungs out or made smoke signals! Okay, time to proceed the beginning stage of our adventure!

*gulps*

The participant would have to be able to climb that tree to get to the top of where the challenge begins. But it was pretty tiring before it began! I had to stop twice in the midst of climbing it because it was one hell of a loooooooong way up, trust me.

When I *finally* reached the top, there was a net which I had to cross next! As I was walking across the net, the net kept wobbling & swaying left and right. Gosh! It was pretty freaky but glad that the net was really sturdy. I bet it can withstand the weight of 3 elephants too

Shot when I finally reached the other side 😀

There were a few other challenges we were supposed to be up against, before it became repetitive with different difficulty levels. There was this part where I had to 'walk the plank'! Can't believe there was no support except the suspended planks and well, the strength of your arms!

Focus now.. focus. Don't miss a step!

Once that was done, I was excited to know what lies ahead!

oh.my.god

I was terrified! My voice quavered with fear when I yelled "WHAT NOW?? HOW?" Like seriously, I didn't know how I could finish walking that without having my heartbeat thump right outta my rib cage. But I managed – finally.

BUT THAT WAS NOT ALL!

There was round two. This time, MUCH HIGHER!

Noooooooooooooo 🙁 🙁

But the worst was yet to come. You wonder how circus acts do their thang on the tight rope? Well, stop wondering and try it for yourself. No joke! Take a look –

HOW TO WALK LIDDAT!!!

but in the end everyone managed to 🙂 Isn't that always the case?

Okay here's something you should know actually. You ain't supposed to bring anything up except yourself and your water bottle. But being me, I obviously didn't give two hoots and brought my DSLR climbing with me all the way up anyway. Yes, you read right. I lugged my DSLR from tree to tree.

IF NOT HOW TO TAKE PICTURES AND BLOG FOR YALL TO SEE? 😛 😛

heeeeee

Shit shit shit shit 🙁

We had to cross to the other tree on top of those slippery rubber tubes! Each time you step on one, the whole thing will shake vigorously! Hmm.. I guess they didn't set the maximum weight at 100KG for nothing. LOL But I hated this part the most! You're so frightened yet you can't close your eyes entirely 🙁

Are we done yet? Can I peek now?

Okay if you didn't already know, I didn't exactly put the challenges in order. I saved the best for last! The ultimate flying fox! If I'm not mistaken, I did the flying fox at least 5 times. There were 5 plusminus altogether but with different heights and different distances.

Sometimes I wonder what would happen if someone were to be stuck in the middle while flying fox

There's no way up nor a way down. Ya just gotta do the Na'vi call for the bird

if Tarzan's quick enough, he'd prolly get to you first

So hold on tight, shut your eyes, let yourself accelerate and  free fall diagonally downnnnnnnnnnnnn!

Repeat this a few times and there was one that lasted for a whole 30 seconds!

How far is that! Woots!

When it was all over, I was exhausted! The shots that you see in this post is prolly only a quarter of what you're gonna expect in the Big Thrill adventure! There was so much more climbing, swinging, balancing and gliding throughout the entire track. I was parched because I chose to bring my DSLR instead of a good bottle of water.

*facepalm*

But so what! I gulped down gallons and gallons when we got down to the party deck!

Oh and it's my first time sitting on a hammock btw 😀 😀

You don't see that very often!

So.. ready to defy gravity for yourselves now?
