My MTV World Stage 2014 night out with Sailor Jerry Malaysia!

August 19, 2014 by thejessicat

Last weekend was one of the best weekends I’ve ever had, especially when I managed to survive the toughest one week I’ve experienced to date.

Yup, if you didn’t know… I’ve just climbed yet another step up the career ladder a week ago when I landed myself a new job.

In a nutshell, my fist week was strenuous, hectic and challenging.

But more of that later in a full blog post!

What’s in my hand? 😀

Needless to say my first week stressed me out by the truckloads as I was still getting used to the procedures, workflow, jargon and fitting in to the demands of the client and delivering what was expected of me.

But when I received a mid-week surprise from Sailor Jerry Malaysia, I knew I was in for a smashin’ weekend ahead – a perfect way to wrap up my busy week!

Oh wow! You shouldn’t have, Sailor Jerry!

I say… why does it feel so good, so good to be bad?

And that’s not all! Cute old-school tattoo-inspired cookies too were delicious.

Tasted a lot like buttery shortbread!

And we’ve arrived! At 8PM sharp.

Arriving our VIP entrance!

I was immediately smitten by this shiny white vintage Bentley!

Be mine already.

Totally HAD to have a photo with this classic beauty!

Jessicat X Sailor Jerry Malaysia

Outfit of the day //Styleshot// Jessicat wears:

Rainbow tank by Forever 21 / Slashed denim by H&M / Pink sneakers by Nike

Union Jack bag & dreamcatcher neckpiece from a fashion bazaar / Cap by Sailor Jerry

Are we ready to enter? Heck yeaaaaaah!

The moment we entered, we were whisked off into the Sailor Jerry zone…

where the REAL PARTY starts!

Reiko and I upon entering!

Take two!

Sailor Jerry Spiced is a Carribean Rum blended with 100% natural spices and flavours.

Why do you reckon this booth is so inspired by tattoos? It’s because Norman ‘Sailor Jerry’ Collins is an American tattoo legend himself! Sailor Jerry Spiced embodies the independent spirit and unapologetic attitude of the rum’s namesake who was noted for saying ‘My work speaks for itself’.

I can’t say how much I fancied the Sailor Jerry zone!

Seeing huge superbikes, tattoos, Instagram booths and exquisite rum flowing all night long.. It was so me!

Biker chick on the loose!

They even had a mobile tattoo parlour (airbrushed tattoos of course)

Totally looks like a real tattoo booth, doesn’t it?

Can’t help but to say how real they looked!

I didn’t get any for myself because the queue was so long and besides…

WHO NEEDS AIRBRUSHED TATTOOS WHEN THEY HAVE THE REAL ONES? 😛

I prefer the real thing. Ahem ahem. Here are some of my tattoos, if you’re interested.

Sippin’ our Sailor Jerry!

Sailor Jerry is also a huge advocate of authentic and true individuals himself, supporting originality and those who express themselves creatively. And guess what?

Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum is now available in Malaysia – only selected outlets though!

Their pop-up store was a great chance to grab Sailor Jerry merchandize as well!

No, the bike ain’t for sale but hey!

I totally should’ve taken it home when no one was looking, eh? 😛

I was eyeing the limited edition Sailor Jerry cups!

Wanted it so much… and guess what I had to do to be a proud owner of the collection?

Do you smell trouble? I do!

Well.. nothing I can’t handle, though 😉

To win myself the collectibles, I had to take on a challenge.

Not one challenge… but three challenges!

And just like duck to water, I completed the 3 second, 5 second and 10 second challenge.

Just like how I used to back in the day. Nothing like a good treat of quality rum!

Some of the stuff I won! Hey… clearly I didn’t do it for the prize 😛

Just wanted a good excuse to keep my drinking skills in check. Muahahaha!

Drink up and party up, mates! Thanks for the pic, Sam! 🙂

Tonight marks its debut into the Malaysian market via MTV World Stage Malaysia 2014.

Welcome to our beloved country, Sailor Jerry!

Certainly a night I had imagined it to be. Didn’t disappoint at all, but exceeded my expectations instead.

The stage lighting was really impressive and in sync with all the performances that night.

Mobile phone cameras simply won’t do it justice though! 🙁

BuddyAnis and I amongst the crowd!

Yup! Definitely blew our minds. Watching it live was indescribable!

Our very own Malaysian songbird Yuna, stole the limelight!

Well… to me at least. I loved her show! Such a splendid performance, indeed.

We both enjoyed ourselves at Yuna’s performance.

She really serenaded us, and I knew all the lyrics by heart too! Yes, I am a fan. LOL

Laser beams! Who would’ve thought, eh?

I miss raving! 🙁

Took a sip back at the Sailor Jerry zone as their free-flow was equivalent to a burst pipe!

A very irresistible burst pipe, if I may add. 😛

After 11pm, the party wasn’t over yet. Who stops partying at 11pm, especially on a Friday?

We adjourned to SOJU Sunway for the after-party!

At the entrance, we were greeted to these babies….

Grants Scotch Whiskey, Reyka Vodka, Sailor Jerry Spiced & Hendrick’s Gin.

Spoilt for choice, we decided to drink them all!

My favorite remains the Spiced Carribean Rum, of course 😉

I was shocked to see how the MTV World Stage After-Party was packed to the brim already!

Not bad, party peeps! Keep the night jumpin’!

My girls and I partied till almost 3AM! We danced all night through.

Haven’t seen Kahmon in ages! Party it up, hun!

Partying it up till the morning light!

So glad to bring buddy Anis as my plus one for the night!

We totally needed to rock out together, didn’t we?

The DJ lashed out lots of EDM dance floor destroyers as well as a good blend of mainstream pop and RnB.

If you think the concert was great, the after-party was tenfold of that!

Definitely a night well spent.

Thank you, Sailor Jerry! Feeling recharged now and ready to take on my hectic week!

Raving to Mysterious Asia: Journey to the Sound @ Club Platinum 21, The Icon KL!

June 14, 2014 by thejessicat

It’s such a shame to learn that ‘Blasterjaxx in Mysteriousland’ ended up postponed after so much buzzing drama-rama revolving around the utterly sensitive situation of the Malaysian rave scene.

I really was looking forward to raving my head off to Blasterjaxx!

The tracks and remixes of this Dutch big room-electrohouse duo has been on loop on my iPod for the past couple of months.

We can only look forward to September as Mysterious is set to present DVBBS, Vinai and Bounce Generation. – if it doesn’t get cancelled at the eleventh hour again, that is. *crosses fingers*

All dressed up and ready to tear up the town!

Here’s what turned up the heat in Platinum 21 KL when Mysterious Asia brought down international EDM superstars like Sandro Silva, Nari & Milani, Jacob Van Hage, Tony Romera, 2 Faced Funks and Reece Low as well as Trance headliners from the likes of Tenishia, Bobina and Susana.

Today’s post is a sequel to this blog article!

Tonight’s get up! Jessicat wears:

Cropped top by Kitschen | KItty skater skirt by H&M | High tops in purple by PUMA

Accessories by The Wild Things | Spiked snapback from a fashion bazaar

Having being cancelled by authorities at the very last minute from taking place in MINES International Exhibition and Convention Centre, Mysterious Asia fought hard to make it happen for us fans and insisted that the show must go on!

And it did Big Smile

Making my way down to the rooftop club, Platinum 21, atop The Icon in KL city

Brought childhood buddy Ed along to party it up!

As I arrived a little late, here are the local acts I missed out on.

The event started with ArfixQ & FyeQ, followed by Fahmi Azlan & Hiroshi, Bobby Bangers & Hidetoski, Pafko & La Short and LissaQash.

A wonderful medley of sounds can be heard, from House to Electro, and Progressive House to Trance booming through the speakers in the club. Cool

The event continued with its first international guest act at about 740pm.

All the way from down under, Reece Low slams his signature sound – the Melbourne bounce!

Reece Low in action.

The pink masked and covert duo –

2 Faced Funks kicked off after Reece Low with massive tunes!

I heard their latest release ‘Underdog’ got the crowd way too excited!

It definitely should; I love that track too!

This progressed perfectly with Tony Romera’s upbeat progressive house set.

Throwing in some evergreen remix of Eurythmic’s Sweet Dream, the crowd responded insanely to this French powerhouse’s refreshing, funky beats!

I was so glad not to miss his set!

Tony Romera set the pace for my night as I arrived right smack in the middle of his eclectic performance.

Arriving Club Platinum 21.

Look ma, I’m glowing (with euphoria)!

Tony Romera interacted with his crowd so well!

We went totally nuts with Tony Romera himself as he dropped his popular track ‘Go Nuts’

His twisted, elasticated synths and a massive thumping drops, bounces along with the intense energy the crowd fed off from.

The night got a lot heavier with his deep club banger of a track. Ahh!

I took a breather from the incredulous amount of jumping for a sip by the bar

But his electro house set was so good that I had to go onto the dance floor again!

 Watch him go!

Before I knew it, it was time for the next act.

The transition of artistes were so smooth as Tony Romera thanked his raving audience before Jacob Van Hage took to the stage.

The transition: Tony Romera and Jacob Van Hage!

With buddy Edwin by the bar waiting for Jacob’s set to kick-off!

I was checking out Jacob’s tracks throughout the week leading up to Mysterious and I really fancied his experimental sounds!

I can’t quite put my finger on the genre that describes him most as he seems to alternate between different styles in his mashups and productions but if I would, the closest would be varying sub-genres of house.

Welcoming Jacob Van Hage on the decks!

Jacob turning it up!

He’s known to be very energetic in his performances.

Seeing him tonight, I can totally vouch for that!

His inexhaustible drive throughout his entire set shot the crowd to even higher waves.

It was a definite havoc on all corners of the dance floor!

From Krewella, to Chuckie and Bingo Players to W&W, keep it going, Jacob!

The Dutch DJ-Producer also included slower, uplifting numbers,

like Armin Van Buuren’s ‘This is What It Feels Like’. Perfect, we need a rest too!

The many expressions of Jacob Van Hage when he dropped his original track, ‘Spotfire’

Jacob whipped out his phone and took a picture of his party peeps mid performance.

One for Jacob’s Instagram album, guys!

Even I tried to take a picture with Jacob during his performance! Haha.

But to my surprise, he was beside me on the dance floor right after his performance!

I excitedly said hi and grabbed him for a photo. Pardon my awkward smile.

 Thanks, Jacob! You were wonderful!

Our next entertainment of the night was Italian house duo, Nari & Milani.

They continued to pump the crowd up with their energetic electro set!

I was raving up high in the sky throughout but they particularly stole my attention when they slipped in some old skool and classic rock into their progressive set.

Wow! That was unexpected. But a little plot twist never gets old. Surprised

In fact, it always works! Such was the case for Nari & Milani tonight.

They also played various tracks from the likes of Calvin Harris, Alesso, Nicky Romero and more. Nari & Milani remix of One Republic’s ‘If I Lose Myself’ was a good club banger right there! Laughing

 Put your hands up!

Buddy Audrey and I getting our groove on!

Selfie time!

We both had one common aim that night –

to wait for Sandro Silva’s set in anticipation!

I went to the back of the crowd again to the bar as all that jumping got me real thirsty.

It was that good!

Pretty sure everyone else agrees with me!

Thank you, Nari & Milani for turning up our night to the next level!

Sandro Silva was next and the total dance floor destroyer  took over with a high note.

At this hour, the club was already at full capacity and even overflowing to the outdoor balcony area. All the party punters were going beserk with one massive Beatport chart-topper one after another.

 Hello, Sandro Silva!

When he dropped his track collab with Quintino ‘Epic’, the night catapulted to an even more epic one in an instant!

I personally recall myself screaming and jumping ala trampoline right beneath my feet.

I wasn’t alone in my world though!

Imagine all the thrashing about on the dance floor when

Sandro Silva dropped Showtek & Noisecontroller’s ‘Get Loose’!

Random pic of buddy Ed and I mid raving!

The young Dutch DJ-Producer smashin’ the dancefloor once again

with his remix of  DVBBS & Borgeous’ famed track Tsunami!

After his performance, I bolted to the balcony outside to catch a breath.

A few minutes later, who else do I least expect to see sipping on his drink right behind me?

Such a pleasure to meet you in person, Sandro!

He is based in Amsterdam now as we had a quick chat before I went back inside.

With no time to waste, Tenishia took to the deck and pushed the beats off the roof with their medley of uplifting and tech trance.

Welcoming Joven Grech & Cyprian Cassar from Malta to Malaysia!

Tenishia blasted tracks and remixes from Armin Van Buuren, Showtek, Tiesto, Jorn Van Deynhoven. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t drop ‘Benedictus’ which was a staple in my playlist! 🙁

But the #1 DJs of Malta more than made up for it with their ridiculously sick set!

Tenishia dropping their original track – Where Do We Begin

Scheduled to perform together with them, trance vocalist Susana could not do so due to technical issues but regardless, she came onto the decks to rock out with the duo.

World ranked #50 in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs Tenishia also played Ramelia, a track which Susana collaborated with RAM and other tunes which had her powerful vocals resonating from its depths.

So we got to hear her voice after all, albeit not live! 😀

 Hi Susana!

Heart hands! We love you too!

Drinks by the bar again! We also got ourselves mineral water, which were reasonably priced thankfully (you know what I’m insinuating)

Fellow partyrockers were still buzzing with energy despite the wee hours of the morning!

The force is strong in this one 😀

SO EXCITED when I bumped into Cyprian of Tenishia.

That’s the goodness of hosting raves in small locations, ya know? Ha Ha

Fans get the chance to meet all their favorite DJs personally instead of only seeing them from afar at more massive music festivals.

I mean, of course the latter has its merits; I wouldn’t discount the fact that music fests and large-scale rave parties are way more mind-blowing due to aesthetics like lighting, pyros, LCD backdrop effects, laser beams and more.

But hey, once in a while, going to smaller rave parties held at clubs has its plus points too!

Went to the front of the DJ console to see Bobina’s head peeking out from under

the decks as he prepared for the transition to his performance. How cute 😛

Sippin’ on an ice cold beer while waiting.

 Buddy Ed and I!

A name all too familiar with trance music, DJ Mag Top 100’s #47 Bobina takes care of the last set with grace.

This globetrotting DJ-Producer managed to keep the crowd raising their hands in the air with chart topper tracks like his collabo track with Andrew Rayel ‘Sacramentum’ and his latest number (a collabo with Susana too!) ‘Play Fire with Fire.’

Bobina dropping an uplifting one by Armin Van Buuren  ‘Sound of the Drums’

His progressive house & trance set gave exhausted party people that extra jab of boost we needed!

Moomoo and I (LOLOLOL inside joke!)

Pardon the dishevelled look as we only remembered to take selfies at the end of the night

after we danced like two psychomaniac-lunatics on acid-tripping fire.

Check out the BOBINA flag a fan made for him!

(His manager holding it up)

That’s the fan who made it. Can you spot him taking a pic in the background?

Eat sleep rave repeat! Spot me raving in the front! Muahaha.

Bobina surprised us with a trance classic by Tiesto, ‘Traffic’ before turning up a notch

to one of the latest track of this quarter, EIFORYA by Armin & Andrew Rayel.

I went into a frenzy when Bobina dropped his very own remix of Armin’s ‘Ping Pong’ with W&W’s ‘Bigfoot’

That was brilliant! You should take a listen. Very tastefully done!

Despite it being way past 3 in the morning, Bobina kept his infectious beats and deep basslines on a steady rise.

Bobina interacting with his crowd with the arm wave as we followed suit.

Spot me in the crowd again 😀 😀

We were more than tired and I could feel my feet starting to give way LOLOL

But still, a set as energy-driven as Bobina’s didn’t stop me from mustering my last fumes of rave power!

Managed to grab a selfie with Dmitry ‘Bobina’ Almazov before I adjourned home to crash.

Thank you, Mysterious, for a spectacular rave party!

Needless to say, I enjoyed myself so very much!

So glad the peeps of Mysterious endeavoured for the show to go on despite complications surrounding our local rave scene.

Let’s save the rave… together! Furious

Let no one stop us. Peace Love Unity and Respect to all fellow EDM fans!

PLUR babeh, let’s rave this the right way with Mysterious.

Can’t wait for the next Mysterious rave! Two more to go for 2014 😀

Welcome to Prodigy KL: A fist-pumping Friday nightlife scene | Post-party of The Butter Factory KL!

May 20, 2014 by thejessicat

We all know the unfortunate afternoon four months ago when The Butter Factory KL announced that its premises will no longer be in operations. But fret not – as a new establishment swings open its doors in style.

Enter: Prodigy KL.

I have personally partied it up at The Butter Factory a handful of times, but last Friday was my first visit to Prodigy KL ever since its latest, much anticipated inception.

Thanks to Manoah and Prodigy KL for the party invite and for sponsoring us two bottles of Absolut Vodka and Chivas Regal! Wink

Arriving Prodigy KL.

Pretty keen to experience a new and improved clubbing experience here – ready to see how my night went? 😀

I arrived at the all too familiar building opposite Pavilion KL some time a little past 11PM. The ambassadors and bouncers at the entrance were a nice bunch of people; friendly and accommodating when they signed my plus one and I into the guestlist.

The facade.

As I entered the dance club, it was reasonably crowded – seeing that the clock had not even struck midnight yet.

I headed straight to my table where the rest of my fellow blogger mates were and turned my party-mode on for the night. (Not like it isn’t left switched on all the time. Haha!) Laughing

The party was, as the night promised, a fist-pumping experience. Ha Ha

Every Friday, Prodigy KL presents Filth Fortune!

Filth Fortune proved nothing short of the fist-pumping music, filthy beats, epic basslines and intense drops for its partygoers’ clubbing pleasure. Cool

Dishing out the best from both the EDM world and commercial hits, resident DJ EDZ made us go wild all night long!

Credits to Ryan for some of our party photos!

The night was indeed a stellar one with my partymates and buddies! Big Smile

We liked the spaciousness and high ceilings of Prodigy KL as compared to other clubs we usually frequent i.e Zouk Club KL or PLAY @ The Roof, which in contrast, are more often than not, very stuffy and packed like a can of sardines.

To be entirely honest, half the night will be spent elbowing my way through the throngs of people! Yell (But I still always manage to enjoy myself there regardless LOL)

Of course, the intensity of the jostling crowd plays a huge part in determining the comfort/discomfort level of the night.

But generally, Prodigy KL has a much better breathing space despite the swarming amount of partygoers.

I’d definitely party it up at Prodigy KL again on the nights I feel like having a change of environment in lieu of my usual favourite Zouk haunt. Kiss

Needless to say, I would recommend Prodigy KL to anyone who wants an alternative to the other more popular clubs.

The lightshow and laser beams were also comparable – if not even better!

What really impressed me was the scorching pyrotechnics which burst out several times throughout the night.

As the night descended, the pace of the set began to change and the genre started to lean a little away from the commercial mainstream club music.

It gradually transitioned to an incline towards progressive house, a little trance, big room and electro house tracks. Nothing too underground or niche – so it’s perfect for the consumption of all types of party music lovers. Smile

Personally, I enjoyed myself very much! Ha Ha

Despite being an EDM purist and a hardcore raver, I thought the set was brilliant with just the right balance and combination of songs (including mainstream ones!) for a party night at a club.

This way, everyone can enjoy themselves!

I went especially off the hook and bounced to the skies when my favourite tracks began to play. Close friends and my regular partymates know how I’m like when I’m partying to good music. Up up up and awaaay!

In other words, I lose my soul in the heart of the rave. I Surrender!

To my best memory of the night, the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Blasterjaxx, Avicii, Armin Van Buuren, Steve Aoki, Hardwell, David Guetta, W&W, Tiesto, Krewella, Zedd, Showtek, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix and a few more were blasting all night long.

I can’t quite remember the rest as the drinks and all those shots started to kick in… hard.

P/S: That remix of John Legend’s ‘All of Me’ really set the mood for a little romance. *wink*

The crowd went ballistic and the night was certainly all out!

There were hardly anyone sitting sedentary, but instead, heaps of people congregating on the dance floor for what I would recognize as a beehive of activity and a spectrum of vigor.

I was dancing like an energizer bunny tripping on acid LOL.

Candid shot from the back by whoever that was safekeeping my camera at that moment. Thanks! Tongue Out

The club was bursting with racing levels of energy and endless flow of drinks.

We all know that this can only be a trajectory to an insane night and a mad hangover the morning after! *hic*

Much to our surprise, we stayed all the way to the very last song and till the lights came on.

Yup, the night was THAT good. But I owe it all to my fellow party people of the night too.

What’s a good party without awesome company, eh? Big Boss

That just about sums up Friday night at Prodigy KL. My weekend workout – check!

Future Music Festival Asia 2014 Day 2: A State of Trance 650 New Horizons LIVE from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia!

April 25, 2014 by thejessicat

We’re awake and still alive! Definitely still brimming with energy despite the madness that is the night before at Future Music Festival Asia 2014 – Day One.

Missed out on the action? Blog post on FMFA Day 1: here!

Today will be more of a trance-tastic one with the bunch, as Armin van Buuren’s famed radio show A State of Trance 650 will be ongoing LIVE at Future Music Festival Asia 2014: New Horizons – Day Two.

2014-03-14 19.15.30

Armed with our weekend bands, we’re ready to go!

2014-03-14 19.03.20

But first, let us take a selfie! Laughing

2014-03-14 19.10-horz

Yuppp it’s a given. We love the camera.  YAY! High five!

2014-03-14 19.24-vert

Picked up the rest. Next stop – Bukit Jalil National Stadium!

2014-03-15 14.24.33

 This was it – ASOT650!

I can vividly remember last year’s ASOT600 where I partied too hard and collapsed due to dengue fever LOL Yell

For the record, I didn’t inconsiderately attend ASOT600 with a contagious infection as I wasn’t aware of it yet. Got myself checked 3 days later and was only officially diagnosed with the deadly high dengue fever.

I survived. Thank God.Adore

This year, I’m back healthier than ever. Are we ready for ASOT650 Kuala Lumpur? Wink

As we arrived rather late, we only managed to catch the end of MaRlo’s set.

I wanted to watch and support both my friends who were spinning as the opening acts! But we didn’t make it in time. Le sigh. Yell It’s a lot harder to coordinate everyone when there’s too many people in the party crew!

But here’s what we missed out much earlier!

Ramsey Westwood as the first act of the day.

Holla back fellow Penangites!

2/3 of Trimix – Droolette Tasha and Samuel Dan on the decks!

Was given one of their CDs during their gig in QEII, Penang and loved their mixes.

Towards the end of MaRlo’s set, we were having trouble locating a vacant parking space.

So we were basically raving in the carpark like total nut-cases and even while walking all the way to the party zone. MaRlo, wait for us! Tongue Out

I could envision MaRlo playing, while listening to his set from a mile away!

Now based in Australia, Dutchman MaRlo’s set was heavily leaning towards trance, house and techno. Love ’em fast-paced beats.

By the time he got off the stage, we finally made our grand entrance.

There was a long line at the gates and we all waited on one another before we zoomed past the crowd right into the middle of the rave zone.

2014-03-14 20.53.39

 The jungle welcomes us!

2014-03-14 20.51.30

Excuse the quality of the iPhone photographs.

Didn’t want to lose my camera in the midst of raving.

You know how partying can result in absent-mindedness! Oh Really?

2014-03-14 20.52.57

Where in the world are we from? Believe it or not but we all originate from the same home.

One universal dance floor. And one stage only; that is electronic dance music.

2014-03-14 20.40.05

The lights dimmed down for the transition between MaRlo and Omnia.

Before we knew it, laser beams of lights burst out and colourful flickering spotlights took over.

When the ever-blinding fluorescence stopped, it was time to present us… OMNIA.

Ukrainian Trance & Progressive DJ-Producer Omnia taking the stage with a bang!

2014-03-15 14.23.39

He shot the party to the skies with his Beatport #1 hits ‘The Light’ and ‘Immersion’.

Seeing Omnia play it live with such a rowdy crowd really won me over!

I remember going over the top when he played Dash Berlin’s 4am remix of Apollo. Love!

Okay let’s take a chill pill from the madness. Ha Ha

First wave of party pics; here we go!

2014-03-15 15.21.51

 Blurry from all the raving!

2014-03-15 13.52.20

TheJanu and I. We were so sweaty from all the raving it was bonkers!

2014-03-15 15.19.42

Sweaty is an understatement! Taking a break from all the madness.

At about 8.30PM, Moldovan Trance and Progressive Trance DJ Andrew Rayel turned up the trance levels to another notch with a special intro mix of EIFORYA he made for his set.

It even has ‘Malaysia’ incorporated in his lyrics!

Thank you, our Dark Warrior!

He hit us in all the right spots!

I remember him making some awesome edits to ‘Sacramentum’.

He also played Above & Beyond’s ‘Sun and Moon’ as well as Alex M.O.R.P.H’s ‘An Angel’s Love’. I clearly remember some classic Trance numbers being played during his set too.

2014-03-15 14.13.54

Throughout his set, I felt like that burst of confetti right there.

Colourful, energetic and soaring the skies right above the crowd.

Yup, that’s me. Can you see me?

One of the million pieces of metallic paper in the air. Tongue Out

I soon found myself straying away aimlessly.

When you get lost in your own world while riding high on the music, you’ll find yourself in another dimension… which is precisely where I bumped into so many of my friends in the crowd!

Perfect coincidence.

2014-03-15 15.03.33

Like our shades? 😀

2014-03-15 15.06.32

With Ju & Reagan!

2014-03-15 15.05.39

 Us with the Pak flag!

Approximately an hour later, Markus Schulz took to the decks.

Despite already watching Markus Schulz perform in Malaysia, there was nothing stopping me from rushing to the front of the crowd to watch him play again!

Markus Schulz interacting with his crowd.

Best known for his marathon DJ sets, we made full use of our energy boosters and extra battery packs to survive this electrifying hour!

There’s no stopping this German Trance DJ-Producer. My personal favorite will always be his ‘Do You Dream’ album. Unfortunately, he didn’t play much from his albums but instead, epic remixes of other works.

At this point when you’re already having so much fun, anything goes! Dribble

2014-03-15 20.31.15

We be rockin’ through the rave alright.

2014-03-15 15.10.53

Nothing can beat Yaz’ mega-watt smile.

2014-03-15 15.08.44

I don’t remember when this picture was taken. I think someone had my phone!

Partyrocking all night for the past few hours didn’t seem to adversely affect us in any way at all. In fact, we were craving for more!

Looks like that’s what Future Music Festival 2014 can do to you, eh? Wink

2014-03-15 14.21.51

At 11am, our Trance royalty Armin Van Buuren finally touched down on his spacecraft.

His opening was so spectacular – flames included! I kid you not.Surprised

So much so that the exceeding decibel levels and deafening screams heard when Dutch trancemeister Armin emerged on the decks should be made illegal! Hahaha.

2014-03-15 00.38.10

As ‘New Horizons’ played while we welcomed Armin on stage,

he launched his set to space with a mix of his ASOT650 intro EIFORYA.

Armin then invited a very special guest on the decks with him while EIFORYA played.

It was none other than Andrew Rayel, of course! Watching the both of them play together for a period of time was captivating.

2014-03-15 14.20.21

The French flag was one amongst the many flags that were waved proudly that night.

2014-03-15 14.17.31

Armin, we love you! Thank you for all the episodes of A State of Trance.

It has been such an honour to celebrate ASOT600 and ASOT650 live with you!

2014-03-15 14.26.51

Dressing the part with my A State of Trance – Armin Van Buuren tank top!

From the top of my head, among the tracks on his set was Gaia – Empire of Hearts, Beat Service  – Aurora, Tiesto – Adagio For Strings, W&W – Bigfoot and his orignal mix ‘Ping Pong’, ‘Forever Is Ours’ and ended his one-hour set with one last track – ‘This Is What It Feels Like’.

Sorry not being able to remember all of it as my brain already flying high to levels of insanity! It’s a miracle how I even managed to remember those LOL. Innocent

2014-03-15 14.14.52

Ethereal royal blue and indigo hues consumed the stage with tiny,

sharp laser beams as Armin put his hands in the air.

We followed suit, of course! I Surrender!

Uplifting us with his melodic, vocal trance numbers, he then took a moment of silence

to pay tribute for the Malaysia Airlines’ MH370 plane tragedy.

Total respect, right there. Thank you for this, Armin. HuhThat was very thoughtful of you.

2014-03-15 14.19.35

An elaborate burst of confetti filled the air as Armin takes his exit.

Next wave of party photos! I Surrender!I Surrender!I Surrender!

2014-03-15 15.19.16

The very dishevelled us from all the raving!

2014-03-15 15.16.32

Awesome energy boost from him! Just what I needed.

If you’re wondering what I’m wrapped around with in green, it’s the flag of Pakistan!

Fun fact! I just realized that his flag marks the first flag I have ever carried apart from my own.

2014-03-15 15.01.38

 Group shot!

2014-03-15 15.22.49

Okay enough photos. Back to partying!

When the clock struck 1 in the morning, Paul Van Dyk stole the limelight and gave us a brilliant hour of what was all but a fist-pumping, head-banging, feet-shuffling, heart-stopping closing set.

Hit us some more! Cool

We found ourself sailing on a trajectory to utopia with the German trance legend!

2014-03-15 14.12.13

Paul Van Dyk kept us riding high with his uplifting trance beats and

brought us down just as hard and nasty as the bass he dropped.

I remember watching him perform 3 years ago in Sepang International Circuit.

Blog post – here! Wink

By the end of the night, we were so exhausted and famished but still extremely determined to survive the entire rave.

Nope, definitely not backing out just yet. The tribe has spoken. We all knew exactly what we signed up for; a raging all-nighter!

2014-03-15 20.30.57

AND WE DID IT. ALTOGETHER! Three cheers for us!

2014-03-14 21.07.31 HDR

A State of Trance 650 will always be a night to remember.

The sickest, trippiest, most explosive trance cult night to date.

Got home and crashed straight to bed to mentally and physically prepare ourselves for Future Music Festival 2014 – Day 3.

But alas, due to unforeseen circumstances, the 3rd day of FMFA 2014 was cancelled by the organizers as advised by the authorities. Read their official statement – here – if you’re curious.

Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!

Allow me to digress a little with my personal point of view. Why would you ever overdose yourself on drugs, or purchase (significantly cheaper) tampered drugs? Why the drug abuse when you can draw the line on your limits?

Not that I condone the act, but let’s get real – no one in the whole wide world can ever eradicate the use of illegal substances, especially party drugs, so the best and wisest thing to do is to enjoy in moderation.

It’s detrimental and you wouldn’t want to jeopardize your life, do you? It’s your health on the line.

Be safe, kids. Momma wouldn’t be proud.

Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!Doubt it!

As I was saying before digressing, by the time we found out that FMFA 2014 Day 3 was cancelled, we were already prepared to leave the house. Yell

Oh well, all dressed up and nowhere to go!

2014-03-15 18.26.54

Gathered for an early dinner instead.

2014-03-15 18.13.20

 Fist bump!

2014-03-15 22.35.04

Disappointed, we decided to bring the party home instead. Devil

We all played tracks by the artists that we missed seeing that night at FMFA.

ATB, Porter Robinson, Martin Garrix, Arty, Bassjackers, Knife Party and more!

2014-03-15 23.57.52
Can anyone say, HOUSE PAAAARTAYY!!? Cool

Wait… what? Future Music Festival Asia 2014’s Day 3 was cancelled? Really?

But we just had it right at the comfort of our home till the wee hours of the morning!

Hahaha. I jest. 😛 😛

Ahh!

Thank you, Livescape Asia, for a superb two days of such euphoric mayhem.

I must commend the crew and the entire team for such a well-thought out damage control after such an expected tornado of bad PR regarding the drug abuse deaths.

At the end of the day, you can’t please everyone – there will be bound to be many unhappy fans. Then again, it’s only natural for the fans to feel dejected when the most anticipated Day 3 did not come to fruition. Frown

Looking forward to next year’s Future Music Festival Asia 2015! *fingers crossed*
