Don’t feel like offering apes food anymore! So ungrateful LOL π But it’s amusing maximus to see it’s tiny adorable face acting oh-so-scary though
Watch the face at the end!
I was offering the little monkey some nuts and the puny thing made a scary face at me! Totally reminds me of the ‘Dramatic Chipmunk’ here below. It’s the best 5 second clip on the internet. Don’t miss it!
Hmmm.. but what about my monkey? π It’s facial expression should totally beat the chipmunk’s flat. Like helloooo? The monkey bared it’s teeth with its eyes wide open unlike the chipmunk who just stared into space.
Hmmm.. now if only I had that sound clip… *biggrin*
These videos were shot while I was at the Langkawi Wildlife Center, which was previously known as the Langkawi Bird Paradise. In the next video, I was basically video-ing the funny antics of two different species of similar birds, the Parrot and the Kakatua.
In the next video, I was basically daring myself to touch the two Parrots. They looked kinda hostile, especially the bigger blue and yellow one. I understood from the caretaker that the bigger parrot can be quite malevolent when it comes to visitors. O_O
Sorry, was speaking in the Malay Language almost the whole time as I was talking to the caretaker there. For the benefit of my non-Malaysian readers, here’s what I said :
“May I touch them?” “Will they peck me? Will it be very painful?” “I’m just afraid of the pain”
“Don’t peck meeeeee!” “What about the big one?” “Oh that one’s fierce” “Then will it hurt if it pecks me?” “Yes” “Okay, I don’t wanna touch it anymore”
“What about this bird?” “Yeah go ahead” “What bird is it?” “It’s an eagle.” “O_O eagle? Okayyy.”
“Okay I’m really scared. But it’s cute! Look it wants to peck me already -_-“ “Why isn’t it out in the wild?” “It’s been tamed already”
So, I’m proud to say I’ve touched and stroked the mighty eagle! π And had a kakatua perching on my arm
Thanks to my dear Tweeples who helped me out when I asked here π
But disregarding our love for food, my folks and I decided to visit a quiet and serene spot yet highly frequented by foreigners in Batu Gajah, Perak. That’s about 20 minutes drive from the Ipoh town. It’s a well-known abandoned mansion called the Kellie’s Castle
It was built in 1915 and the construction was abandoned in 1926 WERE THEY TOO LAZY? π
The unfinished, ruined mansion (initially called the Kellas House) was built by a Scottish planter named William Kellie Smith. According to certain accounts, it was a gift for his wife. Why does everyone seem to build architectural wonders for their wives?
Pretty ain’t it? It’s a mixture of Moorish Revival and Indo-Saracenic influences
Hmm. Sounds like a good idea, my future husband better get an army of contractors, property developers, architects, construction workers and land owners to construct a ziggurat for me… in red. Or erect a Quadruplet Tower for me to replace the KLCC Twin Towers *hints*
WHY WAS IT ABANDONED AGAIN?
Truth be told, they weren’t lazy at all. They all died of an epidermic called the flu. A virulent strain of the Spanish flu spread from Europe to Asia soon after World War I ended in Europe, killing many of the workers in the Kellas Estate, including 70 altogether.
In the end, Kellas House, later known as Kellie’s Castle or even Kellie’s Folly to some, was never completed. William Kellie Smith himself died of pneumonia during a short trip to Portugal in 1926. His heartbroken wife decided to pack up and return home to Scotland selling the estate and Kellie’s Castle to a British company
Unfortunately, I hadn’t existed back in 1926. If I did, he *could* have sold it to me wtf
So we loitered all around the castle, from the dining area, the hall, the bedrooms, the wine cellars, the basement, the rusty metal unfinished elevator (which was off limits btw), the kitchen, the ballroom, the room which I reckon resembles a dungeon LOL, the store room and many others.
My favorite part was of course, the highest point of the entire castle.
There are no safety fences or barricades!
But drop that, this is the part where you could see practically everything! The lush greenery, routes, trails, the clear blue skies, rivers, hills and so much more! It’s very very high though. I would suggest people with Acrophobia steer clear away from this area.
My point illustrated π
But nevertheless, I eventually succeeded in making mom sit at the ledge! Apart from cajoling and persuading her with logical reasons that she won’t fall flat on her face 100 metres down to the foot of the castle, I eventually dragged her to sit beside me π
See mom? It ain’t so bad after all π
After much psycho-ing from her daredevil daughter, mom finally agreed to let her guards down and defy gravity! Oh yes! Now there’s someone to be as crazy as me
On another note : If I didn’t jump accurately, I might have landed 100 metres below on the grass instead *gulps*
BY THE WAY. This is the best photo of mom I’ve ever taken. Truly depicts her inner soul! That high-flying corporate woman swamped with work at her desk totally needs to let down her hair and jump for joy! Literally. heh.
Soon after that, I came across a relatively deserted part of the castle – The Corridor. There were hardly anyone there but I just HAD to walk in. They say curiosity may kill the cat, but I say no fear, because I have two! Wtf.
And each cat has 9 lives so I’m pretty much invincible unless I get killed 18 times.
According to many claims, Willam Kellie Smith’s spirit was seen hovering around this specific corridor, many a time
We climbed to the 3rd floor, where the rooftop courtyard for parties were initially planned to be. Hmm.. maybe if I were to celebrate my 21st birthday there, Kellie would pay me an eerie visit as my birthday present. Now, wouldn’t that be nais π
I loved the breathtaking view
How sad! If they ever did manage to complete it, the Kellie’s Castle would already be known for their indoor Tennis court and an elevator(the 1st in Malaysia back then).
It was already so popular as an incomplete mansion in the leading London dailies, I wonder how it will soar in fame should it be completed one day?
But if a wonder is meant to be, it will be. Kellie’s Castle is now a popular local tourist attraction and was used as a setting in the 1999 film Anna and the King. And of course, a perfect place to camwhore, be it with the family, friends or significant other!
Or all by yourself, if you please!
So guys, if you ever plan to do some vintage shooting or prolly stare in awe at the ancient architecture and construction, this is the place to go. Other than that, if paying dear ol’ Kellie a visit is your cuppa tea, then come here at the stroke of midnight
Heyyoo! Weekend’s here again and sore, aching limbs from Thursday’s session isn’t really a good way to end a weekend. Sniff.
Anyway! Today, Imma share with you one of the most prestigious and exclusive events in 2009. Hmmm.. it doesn’t sound right if I were to say “LAST YEAR”! Because it was only held in December, which was technically less than a month ago.
They feature 10 rising stars from various fields β only one of which will be entitled the Martell Rising Personality Award. Who could it be this year? I only personally know 1 of them, which is Will Quah. So I was already rooting for him since the public voting season!
Yes I’m bias towards a friend, why not? You would too, fo shure!
Hence, the Martell Rising Personalities Awards is recognizing these 10 aspiring young individuals who have risen above the competition to achieve a certain measure of success in life, while embodying the spirit and values of the Martell VSOP brand.
LEMME INTRODUCE YOU TO ALL 10 OF THEM
1. Cecilia Yong, Dancer I remember her as the winner from the reality TV show ‘So You Think You Can Dance’
2. Chelsia Ng, Singer & Actress A veteran in the entertainment industry, I recognized her since the sitcom ‘Kopitiam’
3. Chin Yew, Artist 5. Douglas Lim, Comedian & Actor Both of them very the funnay. People from the creative industry are like that π ‘Nuff said.
4. Chow Hon Lam, Illustrator & T-Shirt Designer He said he’s embarking on a project whereby he designs a Tshirt design a day! Whoa. Creative juices flowing like nobody’s business. Cool.
6. Nick Chia, DJ He was addressed as DJ Guru-Guru (for corporate purposes) that evening but in the club scene, we all know him as DJ Ganja Guru! Just saw him spinning in Barsonic, Zouk last night
7. Nychole Leong, DJ She was one of the winners of the JUICE DJ Talent Quest! π Now who says ladies don’t excel in the male dominant industry? DJ Nikki shows we can

This yearβs personalities, who have all embraced opportunities to rise above lifeβs challenges and more importantly, their own expectations.
All of them at the photowall
For those not in the know, Lara Bangsar is actually a huge bungalow located along Jalan Maarof. It’s really spacious with a nice rooftop floor with a jacuzzi! One by one, the guests arrived in limos and dashing cars parked at the valet.
3 storeys high + 1 rooftop floor
We were served Martell by many lovely usherettes dressed in scarlet red. They were the waitresses of the day, alongside many waiters in immaculate black and white uniforms with a bow tie.
Food was then served during the mini presentation and introduction session by each of the 10 finalists. More of what they do, their aspirations, dreams and what they’re really made of
Bumped into a few friends too! It’s camwhore time yo π
Niki who rushed here after ‘The Swimming Instructor’ drama Glad ya made it in time!
Schoolmate Marion Caunter who was the MC for today’s event!
and of course, the peeps who made my life colorful in JUICE and CATCHA
Entertainment soon began and there was an adreanalin pumping dance group who busted moves from HipHop, Poppin’, Lockin’ and Dropin’
Coincidentally, my flashgun’s battery died on me when I shot this photo T_T
But it was a relatively long dance routine with breakdancing with crazy stunts too!
Performances by the finalists themselves too! Chelsia Ng who sang many old time favorite songs with her deep and soulful voice. Multi-talented person yo! Not to mention a very svelte figure too π
Cecilia Yong giving a breathtaking and tight dance choreography with her dance partner. Totally loved those twirls and flexible moves ya got there babe!
Douglas Lim who performed a stand-up comedy which had me in stiches throughout his whole performance! Simply hilarious! He sang a parody of Beyonce’s ‘Halo’ and incorporated Malaysian traits and typical kiasu Malaysian behavior.
Which made the entire floor crack up too! I almost felt like telling the joke here but well, let’s make it exclusively for Douglas Lim shall we? π hehe. Besides, reading it wouldn’t bring much humour
But that’s not just it!
He even serenaded us with his guitar skills! π
More mingling ensued and all of us had lots of fun chatting the night away and taking lots and lots of photos! We were all anticipating the moment everyone’s all waiting for, the announcement of the winner.
But it’s worth the wait! Let’s take a swig of our Martell’s now shall we? π
Besides, there are plenty to go around! π Have it neat, on the rocks or made into a cocktail. Anything goes smoothly with that exquisite taste of a French cognac
Enjoyed by many, in all occasions! So much merry making all around, me likey!
Photographers for the night, me and Andy Kho also had lots of shots! Hmm.. let’s just hope our photos don’t go wonky for the crowning of Martell’s Rising Personality of 2009!
Still sober? Check. π
After a hearty meal and lotsa neat drinks, it was time to announce the winner. Everyone in the room was in suspense and so was I! Come on! Come on!
AND WHEN THE NAME WAS ANNOUNCED
Much love and congrats to Will! π yayyy!!
He “totally didn’t expect it!” Well, that’s what they ALL say, ain’t it? =P
The winning personality, in addition to the award recognition, will receive a cash prize of RM20,000, an all expense paid trip to Cognac, France to visit the Martell facilities, and 10 bottles of Martell VSOP! *coughs* Chinese New Year coming yo!
But that’s not all
There was another category which was announced on the spot which was the ‘Rising Media Personality’ award. And it goes to none other than Niki Cheong! Yay! So proudda you Niki!
hahaha. I tweeted your win on the spot π Why you malu LOL
The after party soon began and everyone adjourned to the rooftop of Lara to party on down with finalists DJ Ganja Guru and DJ Nikki’s house/trance tracks!
There were rose decors on each of the tables at the rooftop!
Pretty red roses *sniffs* I know I look a tad worn out after the entire day -_- Eyebags FML
We all partied the night away till late hours with booming music and almost had the cops coming over!LOL Well, what’s a house party without those awesome elements? And of course, what’s a party without some naughty fun?
Muahahahaha You were right Will! I did put it up on my blog after all! π
This fantastic evening wouldn’t be made possible without the awesome people and team of Martell! Kudos to them! May these rising personalities rise further to greater heights
WOOTS! Maybe someday I’ll be in their shoes. Maybe, baby. Who says dreams don’t come true? π
Sorrrryy! I know I took awhile to snap piccies of my room to show you guys!
As per email request from a dear reader of my new condo which I just moved into, here it is! A blog entry dedicated to my very red room, attributed to my closest friends and family. You’ll see why in a bit π
A little upclose and personal, but here goes!
Bedroom slippers which my Uncle Mike bought for me for Christmas 2004 Curtains and red runner-rug which I bought from Ikea!
To kick things off, this is where I sleep. My sanctuary! π Lemme introduce you to my daily bed mates
Cute bedsheet & comforter thanks to mom!
The huge-ass red cushion which I bought in Ikea
The pink bolster I had since I was little (you may pinch your noses if u please)
The patchwork teddy with a necktie which harbours 4 years of memories
The huge bear with a mortar board which mom bought for me during graduation
The ‘little devil’ red&black pillow which Jeffro bought for me for my birthday
The adorable white plushie with a heart which theboyfie surprised me with!
Okay so what’s next? My bedside table of course!
It has the red & pink mini rug which I bought from Ikea as well. The red lipped tissue box case intrigued me during my shopping spree in Singapore because it was so luscious! The white chest that holds my accessories was bought by my godmom fer me in HOL House of Leather for my 19th Birthday
The mini top hat was a gift to me from Victoria π thanks mui!
And of course, my collection of liquor bottles! Booze babeh.
Among the ones displayed over the watchful eyes of Domokun are the Chivas Regal, Johnny Walker Black Label, Bacardi Apple, Belvedere Vodka, Tiger Beer Limited Edition, Wyborowa Vodka and the Absolut Vodka. Most of ’em are gifts and I think 1 of them was self-purchased for collective purposes
The Chivas Regal is under proper surveillance by a voodoo doll handmade for me by Sae Wei for my birthday – and in my fave colors too! Notice how it resembles me with the red streaks in the hair π So sweet of ya babe
Camwhoring at my wall mirror
Okay this will be where I doll up. It’s a very humble corner of my room though. Minimalistic thoughts! Since I have so much paraphernalia which I use only when I feel like it, I thought I’d just place them in one corner with a mirror and I’m good to go!
Love the body mist from The Body Shop perks you up instantly!
Hmmmmmm.. what else? Okay, the wardrobe of Narnia. Heh. If only I had a wardrobe as enormous maximus as that, I would be the happiest girl on earth! A walk-in closet is a must have when I get married and move into a new home *grins*
My hangers and clothes are colour coordinated I don’t have OCD yo! I just think it looks prettier that way π
Where there’s a rung to hang my clothes, there’s always a rack to place my handbags, gym wear and other non-hanging clothes no? Well this is what it looks like below
It smells of strawberries too! Thanks to that fragrance thingy hanging inside my wardrobe
And the final part of my room which I owe you guys! Right where I’m sitting and typing this as we speak π Yup, that’s right. It’s my red desk right beside my wardrobe.
Blank space in the middle to place my laptop π
Pink reading light bought as a gift by Godmom
Altec Lansing Headphones bought in *can’t recall which* PC Fair
Roxy Calendar from Spring & Summer 09’s event (I want the 2010 one!)
Red & black Swiss pouch – for all my gadgets, chargers & USBs!
Leopard print Maxis Broadband thanks to Mom & Godmom
Random mouse from *dunno how long ago*
Sony RadioClock which I won in a lucky draw during High School prom
#nowplaying Pitbull – Hotel Room Service SO COINCIDENTAL! A SONG ABOUT A ROOM WHEN I’M BLOGGIN THIS
I have a teddy corner too on my desk!
But whooops! Being me, my teddy corner is kinda “intruded” by my Heineken bottles and 2 shot glasses(essential for house parties!) And oddly enough, this teddy corner has a tiny dinosaur as well as a ‘=)’ plushie. Hmph – might as well call it a rojak corner wtf
Button badges and memorabilia from various events (sorry haven’t put up all when I 1st moved in, now whole wall is full!)
I know it may not be as elaborate, or extremely spacious or as fancy like the one I have back at home. But for now, this will do to give me a nice pretty roof for me to shelter my head from the rain and of course, to zonk out!
Here are other parts of the condo. This is the balcony, now it kinda looks like a mini zen garden with the money plants and pebbles!
And other parts of the living room (sorry taken with cellphone camera only)
Essentially, like I said in the 1st paragraph of this post, I attribute everything to my family and friends. My room is decorated and furnished with gifts from them!(except the things I bought from Ikea) So whenever I step into my sanctuary, it IS indeed full of love π
Not to mention, effort too! Thanks to Victoria, YingZi and June. When I first moved in, from this :
and after spending quite alot of time decorating it myself (and alot of money T_T boohoohoo)
It became what is is today:
Now… *coughs* the hardest task is keeping it this neat at all times! =P
FINALLY! After much anticipation I made here about the Carlsberg Private Party [here] and showing you guys studio shots of the FHM Girl Next Door Finalists [here] and also their bikini shots [here], the party finally closed with a bang for the weekend!
Balloons, babes and beer babeh!
So yeah, I arrived at the scene after rushing from another event with a few others. (More of that in another post!) When we arrived, the party was already in style! Pumpin music from the bass by our very own in-house DJ, free flow of Carlsberg Draught, Carlsberg Gold and the regular bottled Carlsberg.
Do u spot the Christmas Treeeeeee π
I like this piccie ‘cos apparently it makes me look like a good girl
But I left my CF card at home– bummer! – so I’m basically stuck with Dee (yes my camera has a name too) yet not being able to shoot any photographs for the night.
Felt so useless wtf carrying Dee around but can’t shoot anything T___T
But thanks to a few friends Andy, Joshua, Jackie, Simon and Ren who helped me take my photographic evidences of having fun π Appreciate it very much guys! These were the gentlemen who helped take piccies for me.
Lot
sa games were in store for us as well as Q&A sessions to win some prizes! I was in luck as I happened to be standing near the stage when the MC asked “Who is the sponsor of this party?”
I immediately ran to the microphone and yelled,“CARLSBERGGGGGG!”
And for that I won a nice Carlsberg paperbag of goodies! When I got home, I dug out a velvety Carlsberg cap and lotsa other freebies inside. Easy peasy eh? π
So generous of them!
In a blink of an eye, more helium balloons caught our attention. They were all on the ceilings of the Carlsberg Brewery Lounge! Girls being girls, and some guys were frolicking among those balloons. Yours truly is guilty of charge too! Hey itβs fun
And the fun never stops! All of us had fun playing with those balloons too towards the very end of the party. Did you know that if you breathe in and out into a helium balloon repetitively, you will end up with a squeaky voice?
Apparently it makes your airway/passage wonky for a little while, suppresses air hence the absurd voice!
We had so much fun making a monkey outta each others chipmunk voices from the helium balloons
And gawd knows why I’m getting all hyped up bouncing it in the video. I swear I wasn’t on substance or any mind boggling thingamajigs for that matter. What can I say?
It must be Carlsberg cranking up the party fo shure! π
Me with 10 finalists
All the best to the 10 finalists of the FHM Girl Next Door Finale happening this Friday in Euphoria Ministry of Sound! Who will be crowned 2010βs Girl Next Door? So rub your hands together with glee and we shall see π
But first, would you like some Carlsberg Gold before that?
