What gets my blood pumping? Afronova : Get your moves on Dance Dance Revolution (DDR)!

August 5, 2011 by thejessicat

Ya know what makes me sweat, gives me the adrenalin rush and gets my blood pumpin'?

No innuendo induced, I hope. For the answer is none other than – Dance Dance Revolution aka DDR!

DDR and I share a history, and we have come a long way back!

Been busting it on the DDR machine since I was only 18. Back then, Gurney Plaza had DDR 3 machines and you would see me there almost everyday after college.

Back in Penang : Hitting Queensbay Mall's DDR Extreme!

And ever since then, I've been a DDR regular – hitting the "dancefloor" whenever I see DDR machines around! Oh and, my faves are DDR 3rd Mix, DDR Extreme and DDR Supernova; the others doesn't quite cut it. Sigh!

When I was in Australia for the past half a year, I felt deprived of DDR simply because I had no clue at all whether or not there were any in Melbourne.

BUT when I found out through my mates, I was delighted and just had to go to the arcade right away!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KelX4SjCEZI

Here's a video of Konzy and I bustin' it in Mid Valley.

He's not bad for a first timer!

I cannot wait to go play again! So far the ones in KL are in Sunway Pyramid and Penang has one in Queensbay Mall. The one in Gurney Plaza has changed to something else, that's why I've stopped playing there!

Any challengers? 😀

My Birthday Bash/Farewell Party! A video tribute dedicated to my Aussie mates

July 8, 2011 by thejessicat

Yayyyy!!!! The much anticipated post is finally up!

The photos were already ready last week, but I wanted to wait till I posted up the video that I promised

Yup, I spent the entire night making that video tribute which I embedded at the bottom of this post.

If you missed it, today's post is a sequel to this post

I had a pleasant surprise upon arriving the houseparty

OMG Alex decorated it so nicely!! With streamers, wall stickers.. etc

And also, helium balloons! I loved them so much!

Apparently my mates told me I kept playing with them while I was drunk?

Well, drunk or not, I'd still play with them anyway 😀

And they told me I tried to make everyone fly up to the sky with me like that animated movie, 'Up'

Major thanks to my lovely co-hosts of the party!

Alex & Alex 😀

Prior to the party, I spent the afternoon cooking dinner and baking with a good friend, Pamela.

Tonight's menu comprised 2 huge casseroles of Turkey Carbonara Pasta Bake with Mushrooms and Capsicums, and also Chocolate Pastry Puffs sprinkled with icing sugar.

I was glad all my guests loved it heaps!

omnomnomnom 😀

After our late dinner, we began our drinking sesh and partying!!

Here are some party piccies of us

With Deanna and Alex

With my fellow partyrocker & kitteh, Kayla! 😀

Clockwise L-R : With Abraham, Aaron, Laura and Jaime <3

Clockwise L-R : Mossy, Clayton, Hooper & Deanna

J

With Jaime! She's Konzy's sister & we both have tattoos on our wrists 😉

Stole Hooper's glasses 😛 😛

I know I've mentioned this previously, but I flippin' love for helium balloons!

Up up up and AWAAAYYYYYY!!!! 😀 😀

Todd and I with our matching green (his) and red (mine) balloons

I laughed myself silly when Mossy followed suit and tied balloons around his ears

i tied a red balloon around my neck upon arriving! 😛

Somewhere in a cosy corner, some other inanimate friends of ours had their funtimes as well.

Say hi to Archibald the Panda and Skyla the Leopard

Yes. Like owners, like toys 😛

While Kayla and I are busy partyrocking away, the toys will play!

Wootwoot! 😀 😀

The night was still young and we all sat down to play our usual, but deadly, King's Cup
.Gather round, people!

Only half of us at the table, the rest were outside puffing away 😛

Konzy and I on the comfy couch while waiting for King's Cup rules to be written

'

The gamemasters laying down the rules of the game 😀

Let's get wasted!

Oh and speaking of which, I LOL-ed so much at Alex's straw.

Pretty damn awesome! Reminds me of beer goggles LOLOL

More party piccies!

This time was taken during King's Cup 😀

With Kayla, Bardha, Clayton and Varun

With Jaime

Oh and, the fluffy red phoof-ball was a birthday prezzie from Britt & Laura! I love it <3

With Deanna, Britt and Cherie

With Konzylove

With Varun, Bardha, Todd and Konzy

Rules were rules – fair and square.

A card was drawn and the guys were made to pole dance with any girl LOL

-pic courtesy of Kayla-

Or…. in other instances, with a guy.

Mannn, that's hawt!

LOLOLOL I don't remember when this happened!

Poor Greg hahahahaha

I soon went outside at the porch to join the rest of the chimneys 😛

It was sssooo cold outside I've no idea how the locals handle that kinda temperature of near 0 degrees!

With Aaron and Greg

Did some bongs with some of them and went back inside where it is warm and comfy!

With Ian, Clayton, Cherie and Varun

Playing it diagon-alley with Clayton, Varun and a hidden Cherie

-both pics courtesy of Britt-

Diagonally with Laura!

Can someone please tell me how we ended up under the table???

I don't remember this! O__o

Nor this.

OMG what is the shoe doing in the photo -___-"

Oh and, while I was filtering through some 150 photos of the party, I just HAD to post this up.

Funny picture!

What on earth were they doing LOLOLOL

After so much fun, eating, partying, karaoke-ing and drinking, t'was time to bring out the birthday cake

Credits to Pam who baked the cake for me 😀 *major love*

Due to our lack of candles, we decided a lighter would do the trick 😉

Oh and check out the siblings photobombing me haha!

Couldn't really cut the cake properly as I was so close to passing out

from sheer drinkdrankdrunkeness already 🙁

-pic courtesy of Kayla-

Look at how dreadful my intoxicated cake cutting skills are

Nawwww birthday girl gets a birthday kiss! 😀

T'was a good night indeed. Even better when people end up passing out. It's a knock out!

Current score : Humans 0 – 2 Alcohol/Bongs

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Thank you, to each and every one of you who made my birthday and farewell a fabulous one.

Being able to party with yall one last time before I leave meant a lot to me!

-pic courtesy of Kayla-

With some of my birthday presents!

Check out the massive birthday card on top of my head; it has everyone's messages & signatures on it. On my wall hanging up is where it will be 🙂 I'll get to read/see it anytime I want when I start missing Australia again!

ZOMG I've no idea how my mates found out I had absolute love for chocolate.

I ended up receiving all these too! <3 <3

And just like I promised, here's a video for all of you to remember me by 😀

I've encapsulated all our funtimes together and — okay, I won't tell you any more. Watch for yourselves!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=we60sXeFz_c

Please please please watch till the END! I spent 6 hours making this.

If you don't, I'll slit my wrists with a blunt knife wtf 😛

I hope you love it and enjoy looking back at our times together, just like I did! (My eyes kept streaming down tears during the process of making the video. Memories got the better of me. But I obviously don't expect you to cry too hahahahaa)

See you guys in September when I return!

Countdown : 62 days

With love, "that Asian girl with the red hair" , Jess.

My little passage to India : Jaipur Curry Club, Clayton + Out of India, Morwell | Indian Restaurants in Melbourne

June 21, 2011 by thejessicat

I know there are heaps of Indian food in Malaysia, where I'm from.

But within the past 5 months in Australia, I hadn't had a single taste of Indian food… at all!

My tastebuds were beginning to have mad, insatiable craving for spicy, smooth curries and Indian roti & naans.

But Konzy beat me to it. At 4 o'clock in the morning, he suggested that we go for Indian food!

@___@

And we rounded up buddy his sister Jaime and buddy Alex to come along and join us 🙂

Double date Indian style! Our food escapade awaits!

I ordered Mango Lassi – which Indian dinner is complete without the famous lassi?

It somehow tasted TOO yoghurt-ey 🙁

We didn't take long to order our food although we were spoiled for choice!

Each of us ordered a different bowl of curry each, some rice and naan bread

Took pictures of the restaurant while waiting for the food

There was something about the decor that was authentically Indian about this outlet.

Heck they even played Bollywood music videos (as seen on the TV screen) and Hindi/Tamil songs too

Camwhored while waiting 😀

And yay the food arrived!

Here's my steaming Masala Kulcha naan, fresh off the oven

It had a whole lotta stuff in it, capsicums, onions and more!

The curries came shortly after 🙂

Here are 4 of our curries that we shared amongst each other

Top row : Prawn Masala Curry & Beef Vindaloo

Bottom row : Chicken Tikka Masala & Bangol Chicken Curry

Looked so creamy, smooth and nommy!

I bet it'll taste just as good  – if not better

all ready to gobble them all up 😀

Verdict?

It was delicious, without a doubt! My favorite was the Bangol Chicken Curry.

the Prawn Masala Curry wasn't spicy AT ALL; where as the Beef Vindaloo which was spicy till my ears fumed LOL

Konzy and his sister Jaime engaging in an odd conversation about teeth and braces

This just keeps rubbing it in. I've always wanted to have braces done since I was 12 but was too afraid

And now when everyone has taken their braces off looking all pretty, I refuse to put them on NOW.

I don't wanna be a brace-face at 21! ;( Highly, highly unattractive.

Anyways, we ate and ate – till we were stuffed! My gosh, I swear I've never been THIS full since forever It was so yummy that we kept eating.

In the end, we didn't manage to finish the rice, naan and Beef Vindaloo!

Everything else was a brave attempt to chomp down whee

A very full & bloated us. Nommynomnom!

More camwhore pictures- in front of Out of India's huge mirror!

I'm glad we finally caved in to our Indian cravings.

The burn of the curry was good and its spiciness cleared up my nose 😀 😀

Jaime and I – One for the road!

——————:kiss:kiss:kiss——————

Next stop – another Indian ritual?

Woot woot! This was before I left for Sydney during the Easter Holidays 😀

Ana, Y U NO look at the camera properly one 🙁 🙁

Anyway! We brought 2 of our white friends along and was tad worried they might find it too spicy

So to somewhat suit everybody's tastebuds, here's what we ordered!

Tandoori Chicken -(coincidentally, my fave!)

3 curries which I don't remember the names anymore LOL

Wrote it down somewhere but it decided to play some hide and seek at my displeasure

I know 2 of it were chicken and 1 of it was lamb.

And all 3 curries were pretty spicy!

SPYYYYYYYYYY SEEEEEEEEEEEE! It burrrrrrrns!

But whatever, with every burn, I take another bite

You now how you can't take it but it's too yummy to stop? Summin' like that

It's finger lickin' good LOLOLOL

Here are the 2 white boys attempting Indian food –

Can you handle it?

Oh and here's my favorite curry among the three that we ordered.

But! I don't remember what it was called either 😛

So that was my gastronomic escape to "Little India"

Strangely enough, I have just realized that I don't eat enough Indian food whilst in Malaysia. I probably should!

Random camwhore photo! I was bored while waiting for them

Okay bye! *abrupt ending*

P/S : Indian food rocks. I'm game for it anytime!

Of flaming absinthe shots, going insane and planking before the exam season stress begins!

June 4, 2011 by thejessicat

Now that our assignments & major assessment tasks are over and done with, the exam period comes looming near.

But before that, what better way than to unwind and let down our hair at a houseparty in full swing?

Another good idea would be, dousing ourselves with flaming absinthe shots *wink*

1..2..3.. bottoms up!

My homies back in Malaysia have requested me to buy Absinthe home for them. Would love to, but Absinthe is banned and illegal in Malaysia – so I've heard? Hmmm.. I'd rather not get arrested at KL International Airports the mo I touch down LOL

Also, it's no wonder I've never seen Absinthe at any bottle shop before back at home.

Drink up and study well 😉

Just yesterday, the whole lot of us headed to Alex's crib for our houseparty.

It was an insane night indeed.

Kayla, Alex and I 🙂

I have no idea what Britt is doing 😛

Looks to me like brushing her teeth with an imaginary toothbrush

With Bardha holding up Kyle's pizza 😛

Laura and I – the ONLY ones with Asian blood in us 😉

Kayla and I – was I eating a whole bar of chocolate?

Dagnammit!

With Konzy corncob 😛 😛

Laura, me & Britt

With Todd!

Houseparty video below, check it out –

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Kv78Shze9c

Just a lil snippet of the fun we had

Besides drinking, blasting music and all that jazz, we did some bongs of Kronic too.

I'd recommend anyone who's into bongs/joints take a look at this alternative.

It's legal, and that's what's most important. I know the illegal ones are fun, but ya don't wanna get into the wrong hands of the law now, would you?

This big bad wolf will huff and puff and blow down your house!

Besides, this packs a bigger punch than the real deal.

I'm SO not joking 🙂

You're looking at two stoners now.

Or rather, you can see the wall behind us. LOL

Jump up let's get crazy!

Cuddlemunchster! 😀

And then we noticed something not quite right with Alex.

Poor guy was high and drunk – kept laughing non-stop on the kitchen floor

And refused to get up!

It was so funny we kept taking photos and videos

Better yet, pull practical jokes on helpless little Alex!

I decided to have some fun with the Mandarins in top of his head

But Laura had a better idea with the Mandarins and vodka….

Gross!! Looks like someone wet himself? 😛

Check out the video below for a very, very good laugh –

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfIufQVki8A

Well, that's what you get when you're in a state of intoxication with your crazy friends!

Bwahahahhaha 😛

So there you go, ladies and gentlemen,

ALEX MCINNES SHOT PLANKING ON THE KITCHEN BENCH!

Superman to the rescue!

He looked pretty comfy, so we left him there for a little longer

Until I gestured for Konzy and Hooper to carry him to his bed

It was funny when I assisted a cold, wet Alex undress off his wet clothes and into his pyjamas.

Don't ask me what I saw! Holy bejeebuz.

Just less than 2 minutes after putting him to bed, he came outside again

and started eating a whole block of cheese LOL

After all the laughter was over, i think it was my turn.

Before I knew it, I passed out on the couch. zzzzZZZZZ

Woke up with my pyjama pants on.

Don't remember changing into that but yay three cheers for crazy night and welcome, exam fever!
