Rocking Club Miami Asahi in my beloved Penang island thanks to Asahi Malaysia!

June 28, 2013 by thejessicat

When you have neither the leisure nor luxury to jet-set yourself to world-touted party centrals like Las Vegas, Miami, Ibiza and more, you'd be a fool to miss Club Asahi parties transported right to your doorstep.

Such was the case for thousands of Malaysian hardcore party-goers as Club Asahi's series of parties returns this year after its debut instalment of Club Asahi Tokyo in 2012.

Today, I bring you Club Asahi Miami by Asahi Super Dry, Japan's No.1 beer!

On Friday afternoon, I was whisked away on a chartered roadtrip up to Penang island to experience a weekend of the infamous Miami heat. Let it burn, baby!

Already feeling the heat before I even arrived the shores of Penang

Brought Konzy along with me.

By late evening, our entourage arrived Penang and checked into our hotel for the night. heart

I was given a lovely suite in Northam All-Suites Hotel Penang sponsored by Advertlets Malaysia!.

More about my weekend experience at this hotel and a room tour in the next blog feature.

After taking a short nap (one can get pretty lethargic after a long journey on the road!) a hot shower and a quick dinner, we started getting dressing to the nines for the night ahead of us.

Candid mirror shot Konzy took of me fixing my hair

Sophisticated glam rock was my intended look for the night.

How did I do? wink

Just a closer look.

Made a short Keek video before I left my hotel room.

Yup, community service message included hahaha! I have done my part cheeky

Jun 21, 2013 | I still prefer #keek over #instavideo so here's my keek too! 🙂 See ya party Penangites at Club Asahi Miami! xo by imthejessicat on Keek.com

We headed out the door to wait for our chauffeurs to the party venue!

Arriving Soju Room, Penang Times Square

It was impossible to miss the party venue for Club Asahi Miami as the entire forefront of the underground Soju Room was plastered with decorations, red carpets, spotlights and of course, the booming music that can be heard from a mile away! wink

With the Asahi SUV!

With buddy Casey at the enormous ASAHI 3D signage

My mandatory photowall shot wink

As it was my first time partying in Soju Room, Penang (Don't chide me! I usually party in the clubs lining Upper Penang Road), I got a little lost in this meandering underground passageway full of escalators, turns, routes and rooms.

I'm not complaining! It heightened a sense of suspense in me! cool

Where to? Obey the signs ahead!

We finally got closer and closer!

We followed the sounds and it lead us to the heart of the party.

The Asahi crew passed me my VIP tag upon arriving. International Superstar Jetsetter: Jessica Tan?

Why, thank you. Ya' got that right, Asahi! Hahahahha. cheekycheeky

I'm ready to sizzle with this infectious Miami heat.

Upon entering.

We headed upstairs to the VIP zone where our table was. This was my view from the top!

Let's roll out the first batch of party pictures I took upstairs with my buddies, shall we? laugh

We clinked our bottles of Asahi, took in the headbanging music and turned our party dials on.

Actually, my party spirits had already began soaring high the moment I stepped into the partyzone.

The crowd was kept growing and growing as the night progressed

Hot Russian stunt-dancers literally filled the air!

I shot to euphoria and started headbanging vigorously when the live band started performing a very impressive vocal version of my all-time favorite drum and bass track, Pendulum – Watercolour as well as heart-throbbing heavy dubstep, hardstyle, liquid dubstep, complextro, trap, glitch hop, drumstep and more drum and bass! yes

Well, well, I was beyond impressed that such niche EDM music sub-genres were the choice of entertainment at Club Asahi Miami as most events I've attended are almost always catered to mass music listeners and permeated with remixes of more popular and mainstream, American Top-40 songs.

Now, THAT'S music to my ears. Good job, Asahi!

You just shot my night above and beyond even before I got started.

This ripped bad-ass guy covered in tattoos in the red mohawk?

Who is he? Gosh, he was the man! heart

He had a voice to die for. It complemented those fast-paced electronica tracks so well! yes

More performances and dances ensued by performers brought in from Miami

He and his bevy of dancers fed us with a deep and booty-shaking performance – serving after serving!

We were partying really hard upstairs until I decided that I'd join some the rest of my buddies downstairs!

Yeah, you guessed it. I'm a sucker for the dancefloor cheeky

I hope you're ready for another batch of party pictures!

After all, what's a party without your buddies? wink

Minny / Wayne / Jessicat / Kon / Lin Chong

With the bestieJoyce heart

Ken / Jessicat / Kon

Jessicat / Erica / Rosalyn

Mr. Nasty and GuruGuru took over the revolving decks!

My favorite notorious local DJs took the party by storm as they helmed the night with their deep, dark sounds of hardstyle, electro, dubstep and big, experimental 150 beats per minute sounds. yes

It's no wonder I absolutely love them. My partymates and I had our fists pumping the air like we just don't care!

Party punters armed themselves with glowsticks and committed their souls to the dance floor

Drop it nasty like you always do, you wicked, dynamic duo cool

And we be partying till the morning light!

Jason / Jessicat / Kon

Minny / Jessicat / Kon

Aptly named Club Asahi Miami, what would this party be without Miami's popular DJs?

It would be incomplete without tonight's headliners – DJ Henrix and Kyroman straight from the US of A.

DJ Henrix' lush melodies, pumping beats and funky tunes took Club Asahi Miami to another level!

Talk about versatility. Hell yeah.

Dressed to represent, DJ Henrix came decked in a red Miami Heat basketball jersey!

Dear Asahi, I wish to personally tell you that the music for tonight was impeccable.

Hands down! I was flying that night; high on Miami's music, remixes, sets and tracks!

Towards the end of the night, we began having fun with the photobooth.

Here's photographic evidence cheeky

If you thought the temperature couldn't get any higher, Club Asahi Miami certainly proved us wrong.

For another energy-driven, party spirited performer had us in raptures. Let it flow! yes

Kyroman joined DJ Henrix on stage!

So honoured to have watched the half-man half-robot himself in the flesh, Kyroman.

He has always been the link and energy that ties the artist with the audience. Such an entertainer!

Spectacular sounds, electrifiying energy and the true spirit of Miami's party scene was on the high that night.

Although we were treated to the best of electronic dance music, ambience and entertainment according to the Miami theme, tonight was probably just the tip of the iceberg of how they actually do it in Miami, Florida.

Looks like I gotta go there for myself if I wanted more! wink

Thanks to Asahi, I now know how hard the Miami partygoers drive their weekends at the very least – and I'm loving it!

Taking a short rest on the very comfy armchairs at the patio of the VIP deck

Let's party again until the sun comes up!

Brace yourself for the final batch of party pictures wink

Jason / Jessicat / Kon

With my babe again, Minny! heart So happy to see her everytime I return to Penang

Chonke / Joyce / Jessicat / Kon

Amanda / Jessicat / Audrey

As our entourage were about to adjourn for a late night snack before returning to our hotel,

the party was still roaring to go! I too, wasn't ready to leave just yet!

Many thanks to Asahi Malaysia for having us at your night! heart

I had a great time letting my hair down, chucking my high heels to a corner and jumping along to the fast-paced beats resonating from all corners of Soju Room.

Wow. I haven't partied this hard and nor have I taken the meaning of clubbing to such an apex during a glamorous night in a while! yes

Off to Neverland! WeChat Party 2013 kicks off in full swing

April 10, 2013 by thejessicat

With faith, trust, and a little bit of pixie dust, I flew off to Neverland with Peter Pan!

Actually, no I didn't. How I wish, really.

In reality, I did zoom off to Neverland after work though. But it was Club Neverland, to be exact.

WeChat Malaysia threw a massive party in the city for social media influencers and I had the pleasure to be invited along with many others!

Konzy and I at the WeChat Party 2013 photo wall cool

Here's a little background information for those of you who have not got the slightest clue about what WeChat is all about yet. (But really, who hasn't heard of it by now?) cheeky

WeChat is a new mobile phone text and voice messaging communication service. It was initially launched as Weixin in China in 2011 but was subsequently rebranded as WeChat in 2012 for the consumption of the worldwide market.

To date, WeChat boasts more than 300 million user accounts. (Wow! Yup, I'm one of them too)devil

Personally, I was introduced to WeChat since late last year, and have been using it particularly to talk to my friends residing in France and China as well as my family who don't seem to be using any other instant messaging platforms.

Witnessing the advent of the hoardes of other instant messaging platforms like Whatsapp, BBM, Viber, Google Talk, LINE, Skype, Facebook Chat, I personally think WeChat stands out from the rest because of its additional features, apart from the usual text messaging, video chatting, photo & video sharing, broadcast messaging and contact information exchange. yes

Just random screenshots of my instant messages, playing with

emoticons and walkie-talking with my buddies angel

As a WeChat user myself, here are the features that makes it different.

It has a hold-to-talk voice messaging (just like a walkie-talkie!), super cute & animated emoticons, doesn't have a limit to how many people can be included in a chatroom, a social networking feed (much like a mini-version of Facebook), available on Blackberry, and if you're feeling bored or a bit more sociable than usual, there's also location based plug-ins like 'Shake', 'Look Around' and 'Drift Bottle' to start conversations with other WeChat users nearby or around you. laugh

enlightenedNow, it's on to the party!enlightened

Konzy and I waiting for some friends to arrive

at the staircase of Club Neverland

Party peeps, hey ho, let's go! devil

This party also marks the celebration of the official launch of their new local TV commercial, featuring two Malaysian personalities in the film industry, Lisa Surihani & Shaheizy Sam, using the video call feature of WeChat.

Take a look:

http://youtu.be/CSzHzFwYflg

Video-calling is only ONE of the many features of WeChat!

The moment we got inside, we saw many people queueing up to take photos at the instant photo booth.

It almost reminded me of the Japanese purikura sticker photos machines!

We wasted no time in taking one home for ourselves.

Well, actually, *I* wasted no time. After I chose this cute green frame with a funny-looking singing cat, I had to drag him to take a cute photo with me. indecision Boys will be boys! Haha.

Greeting us along the entrance, the WeChat balloons were aplenty!

Cuddling both my new WeChat plushies heart

Thanks WeChat Malaysia!

As we were all hungry by the time we arrived, we made a beeline to the buffet area to grab dinner.

There were heaps of food to go around. Think: spaghetti bolognaise, anchovy-fried rice, spicy noodles, chicken satay, pies & pastries and more.

I particularly took a liking to the cut mangoes and seedless grapes that were going around.

MINE! AAALLLLL MINE! cheeky

But Guess what was the highlight of at the buffet table?

Something so cute and a really clever touch to this WeChat party! Wait for it…

A tower of little custom-made WeChat cupcakes!devil

How cute are these things?! I heard it tasted yummy too.

Couldn't resist taking a photo with it

Take two!

While enjoying our dinner, us guests were entertained with performances on stage.

Kicking off the evening was an opening dance of hip-hop nature by a street dance crew.

They were brimming with energy!

Mr. Poshu Yeung, the Vice President of Tencent International Business (the company who operates WeChat), gave us a warm welcome, a brief introduction of WeChat in Malaysia and expressed his delight seeing such a huge crowd turnout at the party!

We should be the ones welcoming you, Mr. Yeung, as it is your first time in Malaysia! devil

It was quite a tight squeeze with the crowd jostling about everywhere, but we managed to park ourselves at one of the tables close to the stage. Here are some photos with some of my buddies! heart

To keep us entertained apart from all the mingling and catching up we were already doing, there were more stage performances in store for us.

This time, it was a vocal performance by local singers Vivian Chua and Henley Hii.

Vivian belting out several Mandarin songs. I loved her dress!

At one point, they also did a short duet!

With his stunning good looks and melodic vocals, Henley worked the crowd superbly

Performances aside, there were also many funny and engaging games being played.

Five males and five females from the crowd were welcomed to join MC Rudy on the stage. This game was almost like a battle of the sexes! It was hilarious watching the boys answering questions about make up and manicures while seeing the girls being questioned about cars and football were no less entertaining! yes

While the games were on, I took the chance to catch up with more friends!

I just realized that the only times we do actually meet up, chit-chat and hang out are only somehow limited to when we coincidentally get invited to the same events. LOL!

The next performance was by popular, Warner Music Malaysia record label singer Awi Rafael.

I could already hear screaming fangirls even before he began singing.surprise

It was my first time watching him sing, and I must say, his vocals were pretty impressive!

More games ensued, followed by a spinning session by SykoGroove.
Get it down on the dance floor party goers! wink

Dance dance dance

Unfortunately, we didn't get to stay too long to enjoy the music.
I left shortly after, as it was a working weekday the next morning. Bummer! frown

That wraps up my night at the WeChat Party 2013

Supported on Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G data networks, WeChat is now available on iOS, Android, Symbian, BlackBerry and Windows Phone devices – making it the first and only social messaging application available on all major mobile platforms!

Thank you for having me at your party, WeChat Malaysia! heart

I had a great time catching up with many friends over a good buffet dinner, entertainment and the adorable plushie smiley

ELEVATE Ipoh! The finale rocks Perak’s brand new hotspot – Sensation of Sound (SOS)

December 4, 2012 by thejessicat

When a party is set to hit a small town you spent your childhood in, you know it will only spell a whole new experience.

I accepted the invitation with full anticipation when Ipoh, Perak was the chosen destination of ELEVATE’s finale of its nation-wide series of events.

My plus one & I

It’s the last ELEVATE party of the year – already?

Throughout the year, partygoers from all over the country didn’t need to travel all the way to KL city to partyrock the night away. ELEVATE brought the party to the revellers instead.

I’ve personally attended a couple of ELEVATE events – ELEVATE Penang & ELEVATE KL.

Two out of the total number of six parties which was also held in Malacca, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Kuching… and tonight, it’s time for ELEVATE Ipoh to wrap it all up with a fantastic closure

The latest dance club in Ipoh was the chosen partyzone

Growing up in this little quaint state, one would quite naturally assume that I know everything there is to know about it.

Before you request I point you in the right direction of Ipoh’s best clubbing scene… Sorry to break it to you, I can’t LOL. It is rather surprising (even to me!) that I’ve never once partied within the grounds of Ipoh’s townscape before.

You can’t ever miss the neon prism-like hotspot that is

Sensation of Sound (SOS) located along Jalan Raja Ekram!

We arrived in all shades of blue, adhering to ELEVATE’s colour theme.

The venue was already packed with guests as early as 9.30pm! Hmm.. that’s something vastly different from the KL club scene where partygoers would only begin to flock the venue just before midnight.

Soaking in everything Ipoh’s partyscene has to offer

To warm-up the party before it set off, we were first entertained by SOS’s very own in-house entertainment.

Their DJ was spinning us electronic & RnB tunes

And their nine-piece Filipino live band

They belted various renditions of popular songs ranging from the classics, alternative rock, rap, to the latest chart-topping pop hits.

We enjoyed the free-flow of Carlsberg for the night. There was plenty to go around!

Us with some local Ipoh friends!

Girls decked in blue & our boys in grey

The other half & I

Chillin’ on one of the many comfy, velvety red lounge seats in SOS!

Suddenly, the lights dimmed and we were shrouded in darkness

The music took us by storm and local dance crew Elecoldxhot, fully clad in robotic LED gear appeared before us!

They worked their tight & well-synchronized routines on stage

Some of them were breakdancing, while others were shuffling, popping & locking!

They ended their first performance bearing ELEVATE’s logo in a creative formation of their arms!

After a short interval, the next performance gave us something to jump right outta our seats to dance and sing along with.

Any guesses? There was no surprise when the band belted out the ever-contagious, annoyingly amusing song of the year, Gangnam Style! :D:D

The lead singer was even dressed to mimic Psy!

Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyy! Sexy lady!

All of us, myself included, went on a frenzy and galloped along to the rhythmic horse-riding moves that made the song hilariously popular in the first place.

It was certainly a sight to see! Partygoers, both young and old were seen doing the exact same dance moves. Gangnam Style is no doubt, a phenomenon that is here to stay!

Elecoldxhot joined the fun and gangnam-styled on stage too

We had so much fun! That certainly cranked up the mood of the party.

Really, now… what’s a party without Gangnam Style nowadays, huh? ;)

Just being silly

More party pictures ensued. It was lovely catching up with familiar faces that night!

Elecoldxhot took to the stage again – this time, in a different apparel.

They were donning their signature vibrant & colourful streetwear this time

How smooth can these boys move?

Sparks lit up the stage and fizzled for a good few minutes

Their closing dance was certainly a bang!

Confetti burst out in the open and engulfed the dance floor with shimmery tinsels of blue and silver.

Some of the shiny paper even landed on our faces and got into our glasses of beer, from where we were standing!  No matter, all in the name of good fun!

We had to fetch ourselves new drinks though, just before the free-flow ended at midnight.

DJ Yasmin raises the temperature!

We needn’t have to wait long before our final act stole the limelight & took full control of the night.

It was great to have this petite beauty hailing all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia, right here with us!

Tonight, she not only played uplifting trance beats but also house, techno and dubstep as well

Such a paparazzi shot, no? :P:P

The party kept going for what felt like all night long! However, all good things must come to an end.

ELEVATE officially ended when the doors swung open to the public just after midnight, but this can only mean the more the merrier!

As expected, the venue got even more packed with people than it already is, all in the name of a hectic, buzzing Saturday night.

Thank you, once again, ELEVATE, for having me at your train of parties throughout Malaysia!

Check out KL and Penang’s ELEVATE previous events respectively for more!

Global presents Laidback Luke LIVE in Malaysia @ Zouk Club KL! We welcome this Dutch hottie on the decks!

October 22, 2011 by thejessicat

Last night was fabulous! I zoomed off early to catch Laidback Luke's gig in my 2nd home, Zouk KL.

Although this isn't the first time I'm watching this kick-ass House/Electro-House DJ spin – my 1st time raving to him was in Zouk Out 2010 in Singapore – I couldn't contain my excitement all week to catch him live in my very own city!

Off to partayy, babeh! 😀

So we got there pretty early, the crowd was beginning to build up.

Our homeboys DJ Blink &Goldfish as well as Holland's DJ Sandro Silva were the opening acts for Dutch DJ Laidback Luke. No pictures because I wasn't exactly inside the Zouk mainroom yet.

Was outside chilling but I could hear their beats!

When Laidback Luke finally appeared to begin playing his set, the crowd went insane.

It was announced that it was his birthday!

Tequila shots were served by Luke, courtesy of Luke himself!

He personally prepared them too!!! :D

(I could see him doing it at the back while Sandro Silva was spinning)

Thanks for the picture Edwin!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUKE, YOU HOTTIE!

Another year, another mad-awesome series of rave parties hey?

He kickstarted his party with pretty freakin' awesome tracks and remixes.

Everyone had their hands in the air!

Atta boy!

His deft skills on the turntables were impressive!

Yo DJ spin that shit! 😀 😀

It's a turbulence in the house!

I totally fell in love with his set last night! I had expected it to be some one-long set, but no…

Laidback Luke spun for 2 hours! Wooohoooo!!!!

What song next Luke? 😀

Confession : I couldn't keep my eyes off him during his entire set! *shy*

During one of his tracks, I made eye contact with him OMG! I stretched my hand towards him spontaneously

And and and and!!

HE REACHED OUT TOO, TOUCHED MY HAND, SHOOK IT AND SMILED AT ME!!!

I swear I died for 5 seconds and resurrected.

He's amazing!

It was truly poppin'!

The energy reverberating within the walls of Zouk Mainroom was like no other!

The crowd was raving hard, long, and wild… both upstairs and downstairs to Laidback Luke's wicked beats

Don't stop! Let the party rock!

Horrid photo of me because I was sweating buckets after all that jumping, raving and headbanging!!

But I didn't have the heart to delete it cos it's my only photo with Laidback Luke  Teeehee.

A very disheveled me with Laidback Luke spinning in the background 😀

Champagne, anyone? 😀

Keep it rockin, DJ!

He played all my fave songs of his – Heartbreaker, Natural Disaster, Timebomb and Turbulence. Luke also remixed a few other artists' songs such as ones by Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Daft Punk, Benny Benassi and more.

But what really got me thrilled was when he played heavy dubstep beats!

Plus, he's ssssssssoooooo cuuute! 😀

*swoons*

With pals Pamela and Edwin 😀

During the set there were some idiotic baboons who waved 1 buck and 2 bucks cash towards Luke and tried shoving it to him. Like WTF?

Excuse me you moron, do you think Laidback Luke is playing for charity? Or busking to put food on his table?

He was gracious enough to politely decline the money. I felt so insulted for him it's ridiculous!

Luke's an internationally recognized DJ. Your "donation" is prolly worth 2 cents to him -__-"

We gonna partay all night!

Oh and I video-ed some footages to show you how it was LIVE.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idh8Os-JsGg

Here's a short montage of him spinning last night!

Sorry I couldn't video more, was too busy partying with Laidback Luke!! 😀

Oh and to save the best for last…

Remember when he served his party people tequila shots in conjunction with his birthday?

I kept his shotglass

*euphoric skips*

I’m back in the island to party at Freedom 360! Fame @ Upper Penang Road

August 10, 2011 by thejessicat

Yay! So I took a break last weekend : made a roadtrip down to Penang for the Freedom 360 party.

They were such awesome hosts! I truly enjoyed my weekend; more of that later!

For now, let's get on to the party!

Yes, I advocate freedom.. for life!

So after a dinner and drinks in Gurney, my childhood friend Edwin was supposed to drop me off for the Freedom event but I somehow brainwashed him into coming along to join my friends and I at the party!

En route to Penang's most popular clubbing district – Upper Penang Road!

Saw this huge balloon sign – YAY! We were approaching!

We arrived just before 9PM and it was waaayyy to early for anyone to start partying.

But good thing we did, considering the amount of people that's gonna be here, parking would be a pain!

the early bird gets to take pretty pictures with pretty background!

I love this piccie! It glitzy and glamourous… and sparkly. Squeeeee

Met up with Angel, who gave me warm, welcoming hugs!

And ooh look! We 're both dressed according to the Freedom colour theme : BLUE

Took a piccie of Ed at the Registration Table!

Bumped into some more friends there.

And before we knew it, t'was time to take agazillion shots by the Freedom photowall

I love how they have so many cute props to choose from! Added fun like this always catches my attention

With the bestie, Joyce.

Take #1

Take #2

She was my +1 for the night. Glad she could come; my best friend for 4 years and counting!

Spotted a friggin' awesome digital photowall that kept changing everytime I tried to take a picture.

OMG MANAGED TO CATCH THIS WITHOUT IT BEING HALF SCENED WITH ANOTHER SCENE!

Let's see if I managed to catch the ever-changing LCD screen with me in it.

AND I DID YAY!

Sorry, was too amused and excited by it 😛

Okay, okay, more piccies on the photowall with the other buddies!

With Ed!

With Andy!

And finally, with Mike who assaults me T___T

After lotsa laughter and photo-taking outside, we finally entered the club.

Rebranded to Fame, this club bears memories of my angsty teenage years; which saw my first few years of partying. It was then known as Glow. Where are you peeps off to this weekend? Glow. What about you? Glow. It was always Glow back in the day.

We were *still* too early!

The spacious dance floor with the DJ prepping it up!

While waiting for our friends, Mikey and I sitting on the huge bass speakers – because we can

Bestie Joyce and I with a couple of the Freedom mascots

Before we knew it, the party escalated to full swing!

The crowd came in by tenfolds, drinks were flowing like there was no tomorrow and the DJ was already pumping it up hard! Now, that's what I'm talking about

Bestie and I – bottoms up, babe!

And then my camera somehow landed in Mikes possession and…

well… THIS PHOTO happened. Nevermind….. 😛

Anyway, where were we?

Right, dancing away, emptying our drinks by the bottles and camwhoring!

Don't stop! Keep it moving, put your drinks up!

There's a reason why Penangites rock. And we pretty damn sure know we do 😛

Lainey came soon after! 😀 Yippeeee she came in blue too

I just love people who *actually* follow themes set by a party. Now, that's the spirit!

 I

Accidentally taken without flash – but I love the silhouette of the photo!

Okay! Picture perfecto

The DJs were spinning up a storm!

Hailing all the way from Denmark, DJ Kid Fresh was terrific! Our homeboy DJ Def did a really good job too

Together, their remixes of R&B and Trance/House made the night one to remember.

"Dance the night away, grab somebody, drink a little more" – Jennifer Lopez

Oh, we will

We'd be partying like rockstars till the morning light

Super random photo of me. But I likey!

I was dancing halfway while Edwin pointed his iPhone at me.

With Huai Bin and Lainey 🙂

Ohh geez, my face is slightly turning crimson already? Nnnooo.

One for the road!

I had an fantastic time at Freedom 😀

Thanks for making my weekend in Penang one helluva amazing one, as usual.
