My lucky strike at Star City Casino + Dinner at Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse + Drinks at Ivy, Sydney CBD!

June 23, 2011 by thejessicat

I don't know what is it with me and casinos lately.

I've been recently bringing much luck to everyone who I tag along with to casinos, winning them more than triple and quadruple their capital amount! They say I'm their lucky charm, but I say luck comes and goes…

…and I've been enjoying my winning streak thus far!

Chilling at Ivy Pub in Sydney CBD

With Cousin Bernice over a pint of cider

Cousin Ken, Bernice and I then headed off for dinner shortly after

Ken wanted to bring us to this fine, classy place called Kingsleys Australian Steakhouse!

Had some garlic bread on the house after we placed our orders

Ken suggested we have some wine but since I've already had the whole pint of cider beer in Ivy already, I figured that I didn't feel like having another alchoholic drink. Besides, for a posh restaurant like this, it's going to cost a bomb!

After much persuasion, we ordered 1 glass of wine. I recommended him the Pedro Ximenez Sherry Spain, one of my faves.

You can see a little of the decoration of the restaurant behind us

It was classy and dimly lit.. also full of wine bottles everywhere!

The ambience was fab too – good for romantic dates or to celebrate an occasion

On to the food!

A well-done 500 g T-Bone Steak! It's a 90 day grain fed one too πŸ˜€

Loved how the meat was so flavourful and not too tough at the same time

A very happy "laughing Buddha" πŸ˜› πŸ˜› It was yummy!

Roast Kangaroo with Italian coleslaw, Fondant Potatoes and Juniper Jam

Although it was tasty, the roo, as you can see, only came in 4 tiny slices

I felt somewhat cheated? How can the main star of the dish be in such a tiny portions?

We were hoping to have more kangaroo on it, at least.

Roast Barramundi with Grilled Zucchini, Bush Tomato and Olive Dressing

T'was absolutely delicious. What can I say? Pretty obvious that I'll order fish again – just like every other time.

The flesh of the barramundi was so soft and the veggies complemented the dish well

Was so happy and satisfied with what I ordered!

And finally! Dessert for the sweet-tooths

Although I'm not really big on sweet, sugary stuff, if there's one thing I can't resist, it's chocolate!

Dark Chocolate Delice with Coffee Anglaise, English Toffee and Sea Salt

That's one crazy combo, but it worked perfectly well! Who would've thought?

Major heaps of love for this dessert!

It was SO SMOOTH and creamy, reminds me of mousse but better!

After a scrumptious dinner (thanks Ken!) with our happy tummies, we decided to go for a spin at Star City casino – Sydney's one and only largest casino! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Hmmm.. let the dices roll!

We arrived and I was pretty impressed by the grand drive-through entrance!

The ushers were so friendly and efficient in greeting everyone/opening car doors too

The insides of Star City Casino

WOW! You gotta even take an escalator up where security will check your IDs at 2 different spots

That's my favorite game I always play at casinos, apart from Roulette and Big vs Small

And guess what? I won triple the amount we put in tonight $$$

Three cheers for good luck and masterful gambling skills!!! LOLOL

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Partying along with the Irish celebrations at Cargo Lounge & Saloon @ Traralgon

March 18, 2011 by thejessicat

Woot woot!

Last night was amazing πŸ™‚

So the whole lot of us went up to Traralgon by taxi and joined in the festivity of St. Pat's Day!

There was a sweet promo too, buy a glass of Guinness draught and get this awesome pawesome hat

I'm loving it! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

I'm proud to say that the St. Pat's day celebrations in Malaysia are also just as well-celebrated in full scale just like it is here – and probably other parts of the world too :) There was so much merriment in the club!

Just the way it should be

Traditional Irish songs were played by a live band on stage as well

They belted out renditions of various acoustics, non-traditional songs and even modern pop culture ones too

Okay since I'm rushing my E-Journalism assignment research and writings now, this is gonna be a quick one πŸ™‚

So… ta-daaaa! Party pictures with my mates from last night. Enjoy!

After downing some drinks and partying it up a bit, we headed up to Saloon where the real mad-arse party is.

Burn the dance floor with our heat!!

Partied till wee hours of the morning… till the doors of the club shut!

The girls' feet were aching due to our vicious high heels, but ohwell… I took them off and parked them by the stage to make sure I could really party the night away. Shuffle babehhh shuffle!

But poor Bardha!

Her feet hurt beyond madness while wearing her superhigh brand new stiletto pumps

Shot while waiting for the cabbie to take us home

Once we headed home, some of them knocked out back on their beds, the others cooked Mee Goreng for supper, and some of us stayed awake doing our assignments, studies and reports. LOL what a ironic way to end the night! πŸ˜€

Crashed at South 9 for the umpteenth again for the night. I swear I live there already haha. Goodnight all!

HAPPY ST. PADDIES DAY!

xoxo

A jolly good Merry Guinness dinner at Finnegan’s Irish Pub & Restaurant @ Changkat Bukit Bintang!

January 15, 2011 by thejessicat

Dinnertime! πŸ˜€

Today will be about the belated Merry Guinness christmas dinner I had in Finnegan's!

All dolled up for an evening of chillaxing infused with good food + kick-ass drinks, I buzzed buddy Kelly along with me for some nomnoms

Oh oh oh oumaigawd. Guinness aplenty!

A waiter of Philippine descent greeted us with the menu and we skimmed through the list of meals and drinks in a flash.

Heck, we were already so hungry! Traffic jams made it worse. It was 8pm by the time we flipped those pages.

While waiting, Mitchell (the Manager of Finnegan's) came outside to join us!

Talk about extra company

And more company! The dude on my left is true blue Irish while Mitchell on my right

is a proud product of the US of A. No prizes on guessing the nationality of us ladies!

We ordered quite a lot of food, as we were planning to share all our meals!

So naturally, it took quite a while to arrive. But issokay! We had our Guinness draught flowing non-stop as well, that pretty much distracted me from the dread of waiting to have my tummy satiated πŸ™‚

Slurps! πŸ˜€ Taking a swig of my ice-cold frothy beer!

Down 'em all? Easily.

I dare you to dare us.

Anyhoozers, small talk and catching up distracted us from our growling stomachs.

And before we knew it, the food arrived before we could say MORE GUINNESS PLEASE? πŸ˜€

Check out our Classic Cottage Pie and cute Pizza bites!

Unlike the traditional English pastry pie, they way this was

cooked/presented somehow reminded me of lasagna! πŸ˜€

But nevetheless, boasting the same fantastic taste any beef cottage pie should rightfully have

Now allow me to indulge in my pizza bites πŸ˜€

I liked how it came in miniature pieces, so much easier to chomp it down and share among us.

No more messy and cheesy threads all over the place

Hmm.. Pizza Hut should incorporate this idea!

Ideal for sharing in large groups too. Just grab a chunk and go!

Have a bite of our pizza, would you? πŸ˜€

Despite being much smaller in size, that's as far as the reduction went.

For every bite of the pizza was bursting to the max with sausages, smoked bacon and pineapples!

Some snacks to accompany the heavy meal?

We obliged. That's our Calamari and Onion rings served in a basket!

Being a natural sucker for soup, I ordered a bowl of Leek and Potato Soup

Just a little trivia : I never really like pork.

Sure, I've gobbled down a slice of bacon or two or even a shred of pork knuckle before. But in general, I tend to avoid pork as much as I can. Why? Nothing of religious nature though, just a mere preference.

But tonight, these Barbequed Pork Ribs were too hard to resist.

So you've seen it in all its glory the moment it was placed onto the table.

But what happened in under 10 minutes? Hmm…

I swear it mischievously vanished before our eyes and landed into our stomachs.

No no no! The piccie below is NOT photographic evidence of how everything disappeared

I'm sorry you have to endure savage gluttony forced upon your viewing consumption.

On normal days I am a tad more refined when I eat, just so you know πŸ˜›

Wrapped up our delicious Irish dinner with a clink of our glasses

Cheers, babe!

Nothing like a burp of satisfaction from food paired with a smooth pint of Guinness.

Trust me, it comes hand in hand! πŸ˜€

I say no meal is complete without it

Yes Mitchell, we get your point

Merry Guinness folks! Needless to say, I had an enjoyable Monday evening! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Now back to reality, time to work that body!

It's a party in the USA! One night at #7aste New York @ Hex & Mayfair, Damansara Perdana

December 24, 2010 by thejessicat

I've always wanted to go to New York city… who doesn't love the Big Apple?

And I finally managed to!

Was greeted to this as I entered Hex & Mayfair.

Even the security guards dressed like the ones in NYC does!

Okay so i didn't really jet set to New York city, it traveled to me instead πŸ˜›

When I saw the mock Statue of Liberty on the photowall, I grinned to myself. Can't wait to see the one in real life!

Also, who parties alone? Here are some of my pals whom I brought along with me to the event πŸ˜€

The more is always the merrier, I introduce you to :

My girls Kelly and Jessyca

Buddy Zhao

Homie and now neighbour Ceddy!

The dude behind my pretty Blackberry, Eric!

So when we got there, Zhao and I proceeded to the VIP zone to get our drinks to start off the night.

The cocktails available from this bar were Manhattan and Cosmopolitan!

I loved the Cosmopolitan as it was made with Vodka, Triple Sec and Cranberry Juice

But I found the Manhattan a tad too strong for my liking. Maybe something for the guys instead! πŸ˜€

We then watched the bartender flarring and doing his thang to make all these yummy concoctions for us.

Apart from free-flow of cocktails, we had our passport to free flow of ice-cold beer too

Also claimed my bottle of Jack Daniels. Thanks 7aste!

Gonna open it for my farewell party with all the buddies before I fly off to Australia in February

I love how parties bring people together over an array of fabulous drinks.

Bumped into more friends here! Some more piccies I'd like to share –

with the newly-shaven head, Andy!

I hope you donated your hair to charity πŸ˜›

With the boys Jeremy, Leonard and Bryan πŸ˜€ So glad we ain't late!

'Cos we came directly from Ogilvy PR digital influencer's makan session.

In between the two Erics! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

There were lotsa performances happening onstage.

Comedian Harith Iskandar was there to tickle everyone's funny bone. I didn't really go up to the front to snap pics of him cos there were too many people and that I was too engrossed in the free-flow of drinks and catching up with people around me!

Lotsa fun and drinks to go around

Oh and actually, I didn't know what to wear for this event!

I reckon the theme is New York city dress code but then again, what do the New Yorkers wear? They are mostly made up of urbanites in contemporary wear, or so I think! πŸ˜€ So I just wore whatever I had that personifies that LOL

Double Iconic Ring by Soak Republic, Black rose ring a gift from classmate Jody,

White fedora from Topshop, Lycra spaghetti strap top from MNG,

Wide black clincher from Forever 21, High-waisted motif skirt from River Island

Can pass-lah for tonight. haha πŸ˜›

with the girls at our table!

With Tom, from Netherlands babeh!

All I can think about in Holland is not tulips nor windmills, but their space cakes huhuhu πŸ˜›

Suddenly, I heard some beatboxing bass booming from the speakers.

All I can think about is, hey.. is Shawn here? Haven't seen him in a while! πŸ˜€

And true enough. It was! πŸ™‚

Heard some new "tracks" from him too.

With Shawn after his performance. Was surprised that his hair looks real different now.

It's nicer all done up liddat dood! πŸ˜€

Camwhored again with ma gurls.

Which reminds me, I haven't blogged the full post on Zouk Out yet! πŸ˜› Soon soon!

There were lots of tapas food to go around.

The most popular one that night was the fine crust pizza!

Nom nom!

(forgive the bright blue eyeshadow. I think it's hideous as well)

Was trying on a new shade and couldn't be bothered to remove it. and no, I don't like Avatar or Smurf characters.Looks like blue is never and will never be my thing. But at least the blue matches my blue skirt with swatches of purple.

Mikey gets all red as usual LOL

It was already past 12 am, but the drinks never stopped!

Bottles poppin' till we can't stand~

We keep it rockin' till 6am~

New york to london over to japan~

Turn it up turn it up mash it up~

We gonna party like~

Party like, like it's the end of the world!

Grabbin our last bottle with Kevin (also the MC of tonight)! πŸ˜€

Had a great time in 7aste, New York. NYC, I'm coming for you! Hmm.. wonder what it has in store for me when I go there one day!

To party lika rockstar, of course πŸ˜€

Celebrating Oktoberfest 2010 with Guinness, Heineken, Tiger, Paulaner & Kilkenny! German festivals @ Sid's Pub TTDI

October 22, 2010 by thejessicat

The 1st thing that greeted me upon entering the premises of so much merrymaking was 2 lovely "German" ladies in Oktoberfest traditional outfits! For those who didn't know, Oktoberfest is one of the most famous events celebrated in Germany, and the world's largest fair πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Thanks Serge, for sending me all my pics! My camera got busted that night ;(

Somehow, the entire event was themed in blue, luckily I wore a dark turqoise-greenish top

Considered, pass lah! πŸ˜›  haha

Courtesy of G.A.B, I was given lots and lots of drink vouchers to redeem that night. I walked slightly further in and saw the wide array of beers to choose from.

They were Guinness, Tiger, Heineken, Kilkenny, Paulaner and Strongbow!

Obviously not able to finish all of the vouchers all by tonight, I shared my beer coupons to the other gleeful alcoholics – much to their surprise! πŸ˜€

Having my ice-cold Kilkenny draft

One of my all-time fave beers!

I didn't know exactly why they were so surprised though?

It's always double the fun to share the love ain't it! Hehe

Sip sip fellas! πŸ˜€

I loved the whole atmosphere there! Was practically enthused over all the mingling and exciting activities happening all around me.

There was a Yodelling competition, which was hilarious!

And other traditional games played during Oktoberfest in Bavaria, Munich such as Pretzel Toss, Beer Barrel Roll, Beer Stein Dance and the Chicken Dance! πŸ˜€ Haha! I tried the Pretzel Toss… didn't know it'll be so difficult tossing a piece of hardened pastry!

Getting my Oktoberfest spray-on tattoo!

The moment I saw the Tattoo booth I knew affirmatively that I had to get one πŸ˜€ Yep, if you've been reading my blog long enough, you'd know that imma huge fan of body art and tattoos.

Was done in a jiffy! It took approximately under 1 minute, for the dude to spray the ink onto my stenciled skin.

Now, if only real tattoos were this fast, I wouldn't have endured hours and hours grimacing in pain three times!

Me and a good friend of mine, Haze showing off our new tattoos! πŸ˜€

Erin, we miss youuuuu! Trio hangout soon kays!?

Apart from the tattoo booth, there was also the Caricature booth. Geez, getting caricatures done in malls can cost a bomb! πŸ™ Glad there was a booth here, all hand drawn for you for free! πŸ˜€ Yippee!

I had to wait for my turn, which also took a very short time!

Adjusting my hair before he began to sketch me

Hey, have to, right!? πŸ˜€ If not, I'd have an ugly picture drawn of me with permanent ugly hair

The funny thing was, I kept grinning from ear to ear throughout the entire process…..

Quarter way through!

Holding my grin while watching his artistically deft fingers work some magic!

Oh and randomly, he was using the same calligraphy pen I have πŸ˜€

Still grinning!

However, he only caught sight of me smiling with my mouth closed.

Of ALL the times I grinned like a baboon, he drew me with my mouth shut!

Same onot? I personally don't think it looks like me lor!

I think he's too kind, he drew me after plastic surgery or something hahaaha

AND WHAT'S WITH THE TWO-FINGERED LALA PEACE SIGN OMG SOMEONE KEEEEL ME NOW

i NEVER do that!!! T___T

But after much whining to yall, I still love it all the same hehe! It's blu-tacked to my memory wall now πŸ™‚

The whole lot of us were enjoying the bustling busy atmosphere, watching professionals juggle beer bottles, bands playing German traditional songs on trombones, clarinets, trumpets and drums. I recognized 'The More We Get Together'!

Celebrations like these really do bring people together

Cheers folks! πŸ˜€

Remember I shared my coupons with some friends earlier? The saddest part was I didn't have enough coupons left to redeem my Paulaner! *cries* I was quite helpless, staring at the Paulaner draft being poured again and again to many fellow Paulaner fans… and guess what!?

Someone was kind enough to offer some love too! What comes around, goes around, eh? πŸ˜€

ALL IN THE SPIRIT OF OKTOBERFEST

& THE LOVE FOR BEER!

Yummyy German Würstl! (Sausages)

Thanks G.A.B for an amayyyyzeeeeng celebration at Sid's Pub πŸ˜€ *thumbs up*

Enjoyed myself thoroughly!

And yeah yeah yeah, I know I've turned slightly crimson red already pfftt.
