2014 Rewind (Part 2) – The Next Quarter.

April 13, 2015 by thejessicat

Hurrah! Finally found some time to spare to pen a personal diary here on this blog, lest it ends up turning into billboard this month.

Trying hard to keep a balanced ratio of branded content + personal lifestyle content here!

As a sequel to this blog post of The First Quarter (read that first!), here’s The Next Quarter (April-May). LaughingLaughing

My month of APRIL 2014 was mostly spent working my days away and hanging out with my buddies & family, attending events by night and turning up the party dial during the weekends.

Out and about with the sis.

On our coffee runs – yep, we’re caffeine addicts!

Hung out with her mates at Coffea Coffee, Bangsar too.

Made some time for a catch up at Solaris Mont Kiara with bestieJoyce too.

Can you believe after all these years of being apart in different states and countries,

we ended up living on the same street!? What are the odds!

Found myself back in Ipoh to visit the family too – here’s our dinner venue for the night.

The very regal mansion called STG Tea House & Cafe.

I took an immediate liking to its British colonial set-up.

A restaurant not only boasting its delightful interior,

but an excellent fusion of east & west cuisines.

I recall that the chocolate pudding was to die for. See the molten lava choc oozing out? 😀

Just had to share this – our adorable Penny watching TV with us.

I guess Fear Factor has got her hooked!

Speaking of pets, here’s babyChivas chilling by the dining room in my old crib.

I used to live in Perdana View Condonminium, Damansara Perdana!

Buddy Ros Marie and her mates came to visit from Cambodia.

Brought them around KL city and to Antipodean in Tun Razak for dinner!

 Been awhile, babe! x

Attended meetings with my Adrows investment crew.

This investment has earned me thousands of USD so far!

Not going to write about it for now (I would when I find the time to)

but you can ask me personally. 😉

Adjourned to the Korean Cafe Bene in Solaris Mont Kiara for desserts right after!

Letting my hair down during the weekend, this calls for Zouk nights!

With my Maldivian ladies, Mai & Hiba! Miss you girls x

What’s with girls and bathroom selfies? I don’t know either 😀 😀 Teehee.

 Girls just wanna have fun!

More Zouk nights! With my girl Eileen.

Here’s the interesting bit…

As I was seeing someone else at the time, little did I know I would meet the love of my life right on the dance floor, beside the thumping bass speakers. There he was, on 6th April 2014, we met, spoke briefly and raved together for a few minutes.

I don’t think we even said goodbye. Shocked

And that was it. I didn’t even remember his name… nor he, mine.

He was just another cutie on the dance floor to me.

One of those lunchtime outings with my  former colleagues of Kraken Interactive!

We headed to Tapperz Cafe. I just have to say – we were slightly disappointed.

Nothing to shout about, IMHO. Just your average go-to place for a quick lunch.

One of our other usual spots for lunch nearby would be…

Oh my goodness I don’t remember this restaurant’s name.

But I recall the owner (and her staff!) being very hospitable and gracious to us!

Also standard lunch fare of western food, in my opinion.

Speaking of work life, I also headed for an interview with a few MNC organizations which had me head-hunted. Putting my interview-I’m-so-corporate look on. Hi!

Thanks to TGV Cinemas, I was invited to the launch of their luxury concept cinema – INDULGE.

It has its own exclusive dining area, queue/line, waiting lounge and fine dining meals!

Find out more about it at TGV.com.my

 Hello!

At the end of April, I got invited to Mysterious Asia’s

Journey to the Sound rave party at Platinum 21.

Blogged about it here: Mysterious Asia – Journey to the Sound 2014

The rave was fabulous! Ahh!

Just like every single rave, I danced my socks off and was euphorically headbanging, jumping and tripping out.

Wait.. what? What could ever be more coincidental??

Remember the cutie I met on the dance floor at Zouk? Fate brought us together again, by chance. We met again that very night.

Again, we spoke briefly, this time a little closer to a conversation than it was the first time.

He asked me for my number, I didn’t oblige. But when I asked him for his instead, neither did he. And again, that was it. But this time, I remembered his name, at the very least.

What a suspense. Moving on…

We’ve come to the month of MAY 2014! Let’s see what’s in store for me…

Yahoo!! Japanese buffet dinner at Jogoya Japanese Buffet, Starhill Gallery.

My relatives came to visit, from the USA.

It was granduncle’s birthday, so we decided to throw him a feast.

Couzzie Kevin and his kid! Too adorable.

Not sure what got into me, but when the weekend came, I joined buddy Mikey to Jogoya AGAIN.

Don’t know how I stomached two rounds of Japanese buffet in less than a week.

The coconut really got me going….. nuts!

So did all the Japanese delights!

Obligatory group shot!

Maximized my long weekend and jet-set to my lil Penang island again.

These are the things that kept me occupied back home:

And then it’s off to Penang again.

Say hi to mommy!

Celebrated Mother’s Day with my 3 superwomen.

Blogged about it here – Mother’s Day at Mariani’s Italian Ristorante, Ipoh

I’m a friend of the forrest! Yep – never fail to go trekking & hiking in the woods.

Also, gym with lil bro Sim at the OFA gym just beside Queensbay Mall!

 Dragon shisha-time with buddy Paul!

Hitting my favorite party zone, Soho Gastro at Precinct 10!

It’s always a swell partay in there with my fave peeps!

And then it’s back in KL. High ho! High Ho! It’s off to work we go!

With my former colleague and fellow red head, Jane!

Some days are just meant to wacky. Taking a break at my work desk!

Was booked for an interview too, about my

blogging journey in Malaysia for the past decade.

Spent time with buddy Anis over lunch at The Apartment, The Curve.

Girl talk is necessary for the soul.

Went shopping for beanies, but unfortunately…

It’s an uphill struggled to find one that suits me!

I almost bought this cannabis sweater. Pretty cool, eh! Really colourful too.

Became a zombie at Zombie Run 2014!

Blogged about it here – Zombie Run Malaysia

Managed to squeeze some time in to do a thorough spring cleaning for my bedroom.

Ready? 1.. 2. 3…

POOF! Cool

Yep, that’s more like it.

Woohoo! A neat room makes for a clear and happy mind!

It was so neat, tidy and cosy in here that baby Chivas decided to get in on all the fun too!

Gymtime every other evening, as usual.

Shot taken at Body Pump class!

And of course, what is fitness without nutrition?

Grocery day! Can’t live without whole foods.

Got invited to Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club’s launch of their new healthy menu!

Blogged about it here – healthy dining at KLGCC

The month of May had also became quite an endearing one for me.

Funny how day by day of endless chats… I started falling in love with a special someone. Kiss

He may not realize it, but all the thoughtful & sweet little things he did for me, all the care he showered upon me, the tender-loving moments, the late-night conversations, and all the laughter we shared got me stumbling, tumbling, tripping and head over heels in love with him.

Yup. It was that boy from the dancefloor all along.

The very same boy who is still steadfast by my side today.

Blogged about Prodigy KL’s Media Launch – here

Funny how fate brought us together yet again for the 3rd time, this time on Instagram!

I would tell you our special & funny little love story, but that’s another story for another time. 🙂 Promise I’ll dedicate a blog post to us, when we hit our (official) first year anniversary together.

I use the term ‘official’ very loosely, as there isn’t exactly an ‘official’ day we decided to be exclusive.

This time last year, God decided to bless me with a perfect boyfriend as amazing as he is. Couldn’t be more thankful!

This time last year, we were just seeing each other and getting to know one another.

I smile to myself thinking about it, when I thought he’d be just another summer fling.

Word.

Our first (or second?) date.

Moo Cow frozen yoghurt became our thing.

One of those days we walked the streets of Kuala Lumpur aimlessly,

just knowing that we found solace in each other’s presence.

One of those days we snuck out of office during

break time just to spend some time together over lunch!

 Looks like chivalry isn’t dead!

And he still does this for me, a year later. 🙂 I feel really blessed.

That’s enough a story for now.

Hey hey hey and it’s time for the JUNE 2014 chronicles!

How time flies.

With all my fun-loving former colleagues of Kraken Interactive & Clicks Communication at

A Pie Thing! A pie cafe venture by one of my ex-colleagues, Irene & her mates.

I’m yet to do a full-blown feature on this joint

but their savoury and sweet pies are to die for!

Also within the vicinity of my former office, was Miraku Japanese Restaurant.

Sometimes, we’d come for lunch here. Food is good and they have private rooms for private dinings so  that’s noteworthy!

JUNE 2014 – FIFA SEASON HAS COME UPON US!

Look, mom! I’m on the newspaper again! 😀

Was rooting for Germany all along – and they won!! Go Deutschland!

Got invited to the premiere screening of Transformers 4: Age of Extinction in TGV Cinemas thanks to AllDay Media!

Definitely my favorite scene – Optimus Prime riding Grimlock in his dinosaur mode.

Speaking of movie time, couzzie Maddy and I caught up for some movies.

She’s a real movie buff and collects DVDs of underground films too!

Hi there.

She brought me to her fave cafe in Bangsar, Alexis Bistro!

The Strawberry Pavlova is a best-seller here. Such a melt-in-your-mouth delight.

I’m a huge fan of Arabic food so naturally I was overjoyed when it opened at The Curve!

Sinful chocolatey goodness at Mad About Coco in Publika, Dutamas!

It’s official. I can never have enough chocolate.

I also can never have enough of IKEA!

Just a little styleshot.

And another one 😛

Joined buddy Haze for Crossfit at Pushmore Fitness Center!

Safe to say it was my first time doing a different training regime

– crossfit is really different from regular workouts!

Much higher intensity; and interesting terms like WOD and box.

I’d say working out at a crossfit gym is pretty cool experience.

Back at my own gym training with my own routines.

 Tricep Pulldowns

 Overhead Tricep Extension

 Enough of man-time working out like a beast at the gym;

time to look feminine for a night out! 😛

With lil sis Victoria at our fave playground – Zouk Club KL.

With Hiba! Come back from Maldives, quick! 😀

It was suuuuuper packed that night.

Got invited to Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week 2014 featuring Farah Khan’s masterpieces!

Turned up our party dial. It’s hard to find my match – one that can party as hard as me.

But I’m glad I did.

Date nights out! No, I don’t know why my silly boo put the plastic cover on my head either 😛

What happened to I-don’t-wanna-have-a-boyfriend and having no strings attached?

Looking back, I’m glad he made me his girl.

Wrote this blogpost (and a poem!) about my dilemma – here

Shall I bore you with more selfies of us?

Okay, last one. I promise! 😛

And that, ladies and gents, was how my 2nd quarter of 2014 went.

Full of quality time spent with my nearest and dearest, and definitely blessed with love, as I opened my heart yet again.

Reminiscing last year in this blog post really tripped my nostalgic switch. So much feels in this diary! Big Smile

Stay tuned for the 3rd quarter of 2014! Yup – it’s my birthday month! 😀

The day I got hit by the mid-twenties bug. No, not anywhere near the mid-life crisis yet but hey….

2014 Rewind (Part 1) – The First Quarter.

January 31, 2015 by thejessicat

So it’s the end of January 2015 and I haven’t got round to my 2014 rewind yet.

Yes, yes, I’m a late bloomer but this is just one of the things I’d like to share today. The fact that I no longer have the luxury of time to write as frequently as I do on this blog as I used to.

I tend to update my social channels more often than I update my blog now.

Not even joking. 🙁 I’m lucky if I get to even publish a post once a fortnight nowadays. It used to be 2-3 times a week! How times have changed. The new job has taken a huge chunk of my time and energy from churning out posts every night or every weekend, the way I used to.

Do you even know how many drafts have been abandoned in my blog editor?

At least 30.

Each time I excitedly blog immediately after, say, a food review, an event, a party or a holiday, so many things (mainly work-related) come in the way of my goal to finish it. Bleh. Yell

The result? A half-finished blog post draft and by the time I finally get round to continuing where I left of, months have passed and I am left dejected… not knowing if there still is novelty anymore.

Think of that and multiply it by 30. *grumbles*

Many a time people ask me: How do you juggle a full-time job and your blog at the same time?

The answer is: I don’t even know how anymore.Hit with Ball

Work:life ratio has been hectic last year and I can hardly remember the last time I am able to finish reading a novel, to religiously maintain with my gym-training routines or to keep up with the demands of my blogging mojo.

My desk at the office (at the former workplace).

Anyway, let’s get to the point, shall we?

Every year, I do an annual rewind of the year that was, highlighting my top blog posts and memorable moments.

But last year saw the steep decrease of the number of articles written in this blog – charted at only 45 posts in 2014 alone. That’s more than a 50% decline in quantity! I shouldn’t be upset, but rather endeavour to continue prioritizing what made me who I am today – to continue penning on my very own blog, here on TheJessicat.com. Cool

So since it is virtually impossible to do a best of TheJessicat.com 2014 wrap-up, I’ll show you what made my 2014, sans the blog posts okay?

Maybe one day I’ll get to it… actually not ‘maybe’. I will get to it. Just you wait. Hehe.

So what did I get up to on the year of the horse?

I aim to continue my The Sunday Times, the second part’s here – a project that I’ve abandoned all of last year.

Let’s welcome the highlights of 2014 (Part 1) First Quarter of 2014!

JANUARY Big Smile

New Year’s luncheon with my ex-colleagues of Kraken Interactive!

We had Japanese food at Kura Japanese Restaurant at One World  Hotel.

I’ll always love this crazy bunch at Kraken Interactive! They make my workdays all the merrier.

Solved the Rubik’s Cube in under 3 minutes.

I even wanted to film a video of my cracking it but I never got round to shooting it.

Maybe I will, this year.

Apart from the Rubik’s Cube, I was also very addicted to Guess The Emoji,

a popular word-game app at the time. I wonder if they’ve added more levels yet?

Attended my boss’ wedding

This was what I wore 😀

(Believe it or not, it was my high school prom dress!)

It was held at Mandarin Oriental. Such pretty Victorian decor!

Congrats again, Ron & Jasmine. Hey look, it’s been exactly 1 year now!

Happy 1st Anniversary!

We had our instant pictures printed!

Attended the media launch of Phat Barrels in Publika KL!

Blog post: here

Received an awesome new notebook with my name engraved onto it.

Spent time with the couzzie Maddy.

Thank you dearie, for all your advice on my floundering love life’s (mis)adventures.

Allow me to show you my fluffy furkid, Chivas.

Wait till you see how he looks when I give him a bath…

HAHAHHAHAHAHA.

Ex-colleagues introduced baba-nyonya food to me at Mum’s Place  in Damansara Perdana

And our usual after-dinner nearby watering hole at Tom, Dick & Harry’s at TTDI

Escaped to Genting Highlands for a day.

My heart broke when I saw the childhood themepark I grew up in, disintegrate to debris. 🙁

I love you, Genting!

Can’t wait for your transformation to FOX Studios Malaysia in a couple of years!

Spent time with the sister as always!

Relished in Morganfield’s sticky bones pork & lamb ribs.

SORRY | NON-HALAL meals.

Indulged in their pork ribs!

So that was practically what made up my January.

Next up:

FEBRUARY Ha Ha

CNY photo session with my former colleagues at Kraken Interactive!

 My favorite Krakenites.

The extended family! Kraken Interactive, Clicks Communications & MadLabs

Company CNY dinner! Gawd I vaguely remember how drunk we got.

 Much love to them!

Here’s a random picture of my 2-year old furkid, Chivas.

Loyal readers would know him by now. Kiss

Isn’t he the cutest?

He’s mine….. ALL MINE!

My blogmates Kounila & Shane flew down to Malaysia for a blogger’s conference.

Here we are after the event!

Aussie pal Jason happened to be globe-trotting around Asia so we managed to squeeze in a meet-up!

Barbeque session with the former colleagues at big Ben’s house! 😀

Buddy Erin & I out for lunch at some fish place Aman Suria.

OR was it Kota Damansara? Nevermind. I’ll find out and edit this space. 😛

We adjourned for coffee thereafter at Wood & Steel in Kota Damansara.

Lil bro came down from Singapore again and off hiking we go!

 Bukit Gasing Hill this round.

Attended the Skream rave at Providence KL.

Got a hair makeover from my hair sponsors A Cut Above.

Blog post: here

Got interviewed on the topic of entertainment outlets in Malaysia

Spent Chinese New Year back home in Penang!

Blog post: here

And that was what my February was made of. On to the next month!

MARCHBig Boss

 Got amazed by gargantuan banana.

Who even eats this? Godzilla? 😛

My girl Tove came to visit Malaysia.

Spent some girly time over shisha and around the city.

Hung out with the rest of the European backpacker buddies that came with her!

Brought them all to Chateau De Caffeinees and showed them around KL too.

 Since I’m such a good host 😛 😛 ahem..

Looking forward for your turn to host me when I *ever* get my arse to Germany/Sweden!

Headed to Reggae Mansion’s rooftop bar for some drinks and quality conversations.

Guess where we headed to the next day? 😀

They wanted to party in a super club with awesome drinks,  music & crowd.

Zouk Club KL of course! Where else?

They had a blast there. Especially popping Moets after Moets ala the #RichKidsOnInstagram

HAHAH! Come back soon and I’ll bring ya’ll there again, I promise!

Though I love to party & rave, life isn’t all about partying to me.

Spent quality time catching up with the girlfriend, Anis, over coffee the next afternoon.

Weekdays after work were spent having coffee at Mukha with the ex-colleagues.

Couzzie Nick came down from Australia to spend time with the family here!

Managed to catch up over coffee too.

Yes it’s coffee all day, every day for me!

Clearly, I’m a massive coffee-nut.

Also hung out with couzzie Maddy for brunch at The Grumpy Cyclist, TTDI.

Swimtime sessions with bigbro, Michael!

Underwent a procedure sponsored by Beverly Wilshire Medical Centre KL.

Blog post: here

Here’s another random photo of my babyson.

You’re getting in the way of mommy’s mealprep, honey.

Attended a food tasting/review session at Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club.

Blog post: here

Attended the launch of ‘Weekend Chillout’ sessions at Stratosphere, The Roof!

Blog post: here

Off to our rave-ground, Zouk right after!

So that was how my first quarter of 2014 went.

At that point in life, I vividly remember how I never thought I’d fall in love again. I was feeling broken yet living the life as a single girl for the first time in forever… but little did I know that the month of April would be the start of a beautiful journey. But that’s another story for the next quarter of this 2014 rewind. 😉 Stay tuned.

Alrightey, logging off now. It’s almost 11PM – way past dinner time and I haven’t had a bite since lunch!

The Sunday Times XLVI: Sights, sounds, thoughts, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

December 15, 2013 by thejessicat

I actually wrote this on the plane but for some reason, it didn’t get published before I flew off to Jakarta!

So this is practically last week’s edition, yeah?

Ohai! Random selfie.

Ohai! Random kittycat in my room.

The week’s been good. Just extremely stressed chasing ridiculous deadlines and juggling more than I could possibly chew.

Remind me never to work 4 jobs at one go again or take on heavy projects that drains a gargantuan amount of my time, energy, effort, focus AND SLEEP. Yes, I’ve been sleep deprived for the past few days. Bleh.

Been a total train wreck but hey, I still squeezed enough time to leap out of my hideous zombie-mode and head out to town. Laughing

Dressed up // Dolled up

Guess what’s in store for the day?

It was TwestivalKL 2013! Back after a one year hiatus, KL Malaysia hosts our edition of Twestival again for social good.

Did you know that Twestival is the largest grassroots social media fundraising initiative in the world? Well now you do.

The day was fun-filled with activities and performances!

Local celebrities sang and performed for us, auctions were being held on stage, live drawing/doodling stations, and more! Lots of TwestivalKL merchandise were being sold too. Cool

Our loot of the day, amongst many other freebies. Thanks for the Moleskin, Simon!

Politiko Malaysian Politics themed Moleskin mini notebook. Perfect for the journalist in me.

Here are some pictures of my fellow Tweeples and buddies! Ha Ha

My girl Anis and I

 New friends and old friends!

Where buddies reunite and catch ups ensue!

We managed to collectively raise more than RM30,000 for our main beneficiary – the less fortunate kids of Persatuan Kanak-Kanak Istimewa Hulu Langat, a centre for children with special needs.

Social media done right – for social good and social causes! Cool

Had a great weekend. Back in office though,  it’s time for sleigh-bells to ring! The Yuletide season seemed to have arrived along with endless hours of Christmas songs. Wow. Festivities are on the high!

Christmas tree and the decorations are up at our front entrance!

Finishing up some video ads one rainy night.

Randomly, I’ve always been a Windows girl at heart. For some strange reason, I never had the affinity with Mac OS (despite being somewhat attracted to it). Surprised

Never like the idea of overpriced machinery with equal specs (or lower!) but with a higher price. What’s the sense in that? Also, consumerism and capitalism revolts me, but people still give in.

Admittedly, I do too, sometimes.

Recently performed an upgrade to my computer’s Operating System.

Now, I’m running on Windows 8.1 OS!

Windows can do a lot of things that a Mac can, sans the fancy half-bitten apple logo that weighs an exorbitant price tag to it.Undecided

Given that the Mac gadgets are definitely ‘trendier’, ‘cooler’ and more ‘artsy’, I do acknowledge that I am somehow drawn to its shiny surface and the image of it being a high-quality, high-powered and stylish looking piece of metal.

Best platform for design and creativity? Probably. Undecided But then again, this boils down to brand identity, marketing, and yes, deny as you may, it has come to be quite a status symbol.

The social stigma attached to it will always be evident.

Bottom line is, I still see no reason why I should switch to a Mac.

Entahlah, aku tidak begitu dilamun MAC namun tidak keberatan mencubanya pun.

Someone should poison me and show me the dark side. Impress me. Should I end up changing sides, you’re one good salesperson. Tongue Out

My processor and graphics card are godlike! I do both heavy video editing, photo editing and graphic designing on all my Windows laptops/computers.

I also have a RAM (memory) of 10GB and a dual hard disk capacity of 800GB in my current laptop.

That’s really all, if not more than, I need. Foot in Mouth

Ironically enough, I have the iPhone, iPod and iTouch. Best of both worlds?

I guess this brings my argument down to a moot point then.Foot in Mouth

Okay enough tech talk. Pretty sure the Mac hipsters are shooting me the condescending look while the Windows folk are cheering me on. No offence to MAC users. If I had that extra money that I don’t mind spending on a cool and aesthetically pleasing computer, hey, I’d get one too.

I come in peace… and curiosity. Pray

Leaving the geekspeak on the table, let’s get a change of clothes and head to the gym!

My new gym pparel had just arrived from the USA!

GymSavage’s range of fitness wear is just awesome.

This is just one of the ones I got from GymSavage.

Will wear the other two when I hit the gym next, aight?

Spent some of my nights cooking up a storm in the kitchen.

Clean eating is the way to go! A non-processed and ideal balance of healthy carbs, protein, healthy fat, fibre, water intake is vital for your body to function and look the way it should. And trust me, the effort shows. Wink

Only three of my fit food this week. Yes, I know I haven’t been religiously keeping to my clean diet, it’s quite a chore LOL.

Kadang kala malas hendak membuka lagi komputer pun. Inginkan terus beristirahat sahaja sampai esok pagi. Undecided

Especially when all you want at the end of the day is a cuddle and a long slumber on your bed, the kitchen is the last thing on your mind.

And coffee, of course. But sometimes, even the coffee joints are too far away or aren’t open 24 hours.

Would someone deliver me coffee with a click of a mouse already? Yell

So yes, those are the three times this week when I can actually get my arse up and be actually bothered to make something.

But hey! I discovered an excellent alternative now.

What happens when you don’t feel like cooking but don’t feel like eating out at the same time? No, you don’t stay at home and starve. You stay at home and log on to FoodPanda.my.

FoodPanda is an online food delivery service which allows you to browse all your favorite food & beverage stores and gets them delivered to you.
This is music to my ears – and appetite! I’ve just signed up and also downloaded their app (available for both Apple and Android), maybe you should too. Laughing

Here’s to a better variety of food delivered right to your doorstep!

Hey, it’s better than having Pizza and McD delivery all the time. Not healthy! *glare*

Now I can also get my insatiable need for coffee quenched! Starbucks or DOME coffee shall be delivered to me every morning from this point onwards woohooo! Cool

So yeah, check it out. Your growling tummy implores you too! It’s  WWW.FOODPANDA.MY

You’re welcome! Big Smile

Speaking of food, I’ve also spent an evening at one of my favorite restaurants in the air, Signature @The Roof.

Was there one Thursday night for a food review + menu shooting session.

Never really knew how I looked like whilst shooting so here are some candids yay!

Busy busy busy.

It was a fun but rather tiring night. I was shooting dishes and dishes that arrived the table one after another! That fateful night was also a night when the skills of my powerful tongue were put to test. Uhmm….

WAIT – WHUTTTTT? What are you thinking?

HAHAHA I KNOW IT SOUNDS WRONG WHEN I SAY TONGUE SKILLS BUT HEY IT’S LEGIT.

See for yourself.

I tied a cherry stem into a knot with my mouth by using only my tongue! Laughing

Can you do that? *winks* This takes a lot of practise and a whole lot of cherries.

As a Style Advisor for GlassesOnline, I was given the 3.1 Philip Lim Chopper Grysm to decide on the fashion direction that would work best.

I’ll always be the punk rocker at heart. So what would best match these Choppers? Here’s the look I’ve directed –

Sometimes, I style looks that I wouldn’t personally wear (only because it probably doesn’t suit my individual style or personality), but this get-up is something I would actually find myself wearing to a music festival, for a casual sunny day out, or to a gig.

P/S: Been eyeing that Balenciaga for a while. But I told myself I have enough luxury handbags already and I probably should stop spending frivolously so that’s a no-go for now. Frown

And when the weekend began to loom closer..

Good morning, from my window!

Woke up to the day I’ve been counting down to. My sweet escape.

Dawn finally breaks into a beautiful tequila sunrise that morning.  Somewhere beyond every sunshine is

someone who will watch every sunrise with you until the last sunset of your life.

Nevertheless, it’s all wishful thinking. Embarassed A girl can always dream of her fairytales to come true.

Or it can always remain a figment of her imagination. Just don’t wake me up. Ever.

Ohai! Random book with my name on it. Coolbeans.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to attend THIRST 2013 this year as I’ll be off to Jakarta for the weekend.

Pretty bummed about missing this massive rave but I know it’s gonna be worth it.

That’s all for now. Here I am blogging from the airport. Wish me a safe trip! Smile

My flight is in 15 minutes. Let’s just hope there aren’t any crying babies within earshot as I entertain myself well with The Big Bang Theory and *probably* catch  forty winks to be well-refreshed when I land!

Two more hours in-flight till I land in Jakarta to have probably the best weekend I’ve had in a long time.

WinkAdieu.

The Sunday Times XLV: Sights, sounds, thoughts, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

December 4, 2013 by thejessicat

Hewwwwooo peeps!

I had a great week, and an even greater weekend with the family and as usual, immersed with work and no play. *snorts* Sounds pretty sad when I say it like that, but trust me. It’s not.

Random selfie!

So what’s been going on all week? Cool

As part of the #SomebodylikeMe safe sex campaign by Durex Malaysia (thumbs up, team!), I join hands with many other digital influencers to all month long to create a world free of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases… or at least, reduce the numbers and statistics!

DO WEAR IT BEFORE YOU DO IT.

Did you know that today is World AIDS Day 2013?

Observed annually every 1st of December, today marks the date to raise awareness of safe sex and of the AIDS pandemic around the world. More about this in another blog post but for now, here is my very own Public Service Announcement to all fellow youths out there:

REMINDER! This is especially important if you’re sleeping with people you don’t know,

engaging in sexual activity with multiple people at the same time or having one night stands.

The weekend saw me heading back to granny’s place to spend some time with the family.

Ever since I started taking the ETS train ride from KL Sentral to Ipoh, I’ve never looked back. Did the Math, and yes, it’s way cheaper and less time consuming compared to driving.

My feet in the train. There’s something about this picture that makes me smile.

On my way home! Appletime. Pardon me, I look really unglam here hehe

Siapalah mendandan dirinya semasa dalam perjalanan, kan?

Headed home for Uncle Mike’s BIG 50th Birthday! My, my… that’s a half a century.

I reckon I’d throw my 50th on a huge scale too but that’s still a long way to go. (Thank goodness LOL)

What I wore for the birthday dinner.

Adopted a babydoll look for the night!

Contact lens sponsored by: Ivilens Kiss

Go check ’em out! My favorites are the ‘Mesmerize’ ones.

Uncle Mike’s birthday was a reunion of all sorts for the family. I got to meet and catch up with various members and next-of-kin!

Make way for a few photos of the night! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves, aye? Laughing

 The bunch!

 With my fellow rave-kaki couzzies.

We’re like the twin-towers of the family as we are tallest members of the clan, yo! Tongue Out

 Goofy.

Haven’t seen my aunt since the day I stayed over her place in Sydney! Great catching up!

There’s something about this photo that I like very much.

Embodies such a kindred spirit!

So apart from taking photos, my cousins and I photobombed photos as well.

Candid shot of me eating. I think mom snapped this picture.

Check out Uncle Mike’s 50 birthday cupcakes!

It took him a while to put out all the candles – no, we didn’t help him!

But he managed to do it all by himself! Here’s a group picture of some of us.

Dissected the insanely delicious carrot-cheese cake!Big Smile

It tasted just as mouth-watering as it looks.

The strawberries tasted even better though!

Apart from spending quality time with my folks, I also managed to squeeze some time to renew my passport!

As I’ll be flying to Jakarta, Indonesia in next weekend (yay!)Laughing, I figured that it was wise to get it renewed while I can.

Took my official ID and passport photograph.

I was kidding. Obviously. Can’t be pulling a face like that on official documents, can I? Tongue Out

The process of getting my new passport was a breeze! You have to first get your photograph taken at the instant photobooth next door before taking a number at the Immigration Department (Jabatan Imigresen).

Once you take your number, you… well.. wait. Undecided

My wait didn’t feel long at all.

With my iPhone, an internet connection and a huge massage chair, I’m good to go!

Nov 30, 2013 | #Fun on a #massage chair! #massagechair woohoooo. #sillygirl #whatareyoudoing by imthejessicat on Keek.com

Once my number was called, I took my turn and did the necessary procedures.

The officer browsed through my passport to make sure I didn’t overstay any visits or make any illegal entrance to anywhere before getting me to sign a form and get my thumbprint stamped onto the said form. I also had to present my MyKad IC (Malaysian ID)

EDIT: For those of you who asked, the center I went to do this was the new UTC Ipoh (Urban Transformation Center). And yes, they open everyday – including the weekends from 8am till 9.30pm. Impressive, by government standards! Tongue Out

Electronic thumbprint! Yup, that’s the way to go!

No more messy inkpads. Duh! That was so 1999.

As it was already mid-afternoon by the time this was done, I was asked to return the next day to collect my passport. Had I gone in the morning, I would be able to collect it on the same day! Smile *Hint: Go in the morning!*

The next day, I arrived within the given time frame and waited for my name to be called.

Got my passport rather effortlessly and was rather impressed with how efficient the system is! Not like I encountered any problems making my first one five years ago, but still, this was a rather flawless experience.

STOP STARING AT MY HIDEOUS PHOTOGRAPHS.

I know I look like a mail-order escort or a domestic help. No, actually.. I think I look like an alien or like a victim of plastic surgery/botox gone wrong in my old passport. This year, I think I look like a deceased newspaper cut-out.

But apart from being very critical of my own appearance, I actually think the new Malaysian passport looks fabulous! Big Smile

The coverpage is slightly different and much nicer now and with that little squarish icon, we can now go to Japan without applying for a VISA. The gold stands out more too!

On the insides, we now have a hard plastic first page containing all our data and personal information. There’s also an electronic chip and a hologram Hibiscus (to my non-local readers, this is Malaysia’s national flower!) embedded into this page too.

Okay the end! Now go renew your passport with ease. Cool

Mommy bought me new AVF headphones with an attached microphone!

YAY now I can Skype better, listen to my music and achieve eargasms LOL

Selfie with granny in the car!

We had such a heavy lunch that I decided to walk home.

Yes, it’s psychological, I’m fully aware of that LOL. But nevertheless one that helps me feel less bloated.

Took the route less travelled. Guess what I spotted on my home?

Dec 1, 2013 | #Fire in the hole!!! by imthejessicat on Keek.com

Pretty neat, eh? Check out those huge flames… but definitely horrendous air pollution!

So what else has been going on throughout the week? Nothing much. Except that I’ve been feeling a little anti-social and instead, spending a lot of time on Skype and practically have my fingers glued to my cellphone texting away. Wink

Oh and… I’m now officially contracted as one of the Bahasa Malaysia travel writers for Expedia, the world’s largest online tourism website/company! Woohoo! LaughingLaughing

Spotted this adorable babyshark in Tesco. It took my heart away!

If you haven’t realized by now as I’ve never been ashamed to admit… I have a soft spot for plushies.

Oh and Tesco is now running this action figure collectibles, Heroes and Friends.

I’m collecting the Marvel figurines at the moment – only need Iron Man to complete my fantastic four!

The Hulk, Captain America and Spider-Man are lonely without you LOL.

Heard there was a limited edition Thor too!

Two of my clean meals of the week:

Steamed golden pomphret fish with stir-fry carrots and spinach on the side!

Woke up early one morning so I made a big breakfast!

Black pepper and thyme scrambled eggs with roasted tomatoes, baked beans and baby spinach.

Short catch up session with Kel Li in Maccas.

Spotted this online and figured many, many guys need to know this.

Don’t you agree? Well.. unless she has got you friendzoned to oblivion LOL then that’s a different story.

Last week was the week of KL International Motor Show 2013 too. I didn’t manage to go despite wanting to drop by so much!

So… no photos of that but here’s a photo from the Medan Autofest 2013 LOL.

Fell in love with this modified Mercedes-Benz SLK250!

It’s also installed with the full Venom Diablo series by Venom Medan. Check ’em out! They make pretty epic audio systems.

Such eargasmic power amplifiers, speakers & subwoofers – it’s a party in the car right there!

Got my hands on the Dolly Wink – 1 Dolly Sweet pair of falsie eyelashes too. Thank you!

Can’t wait to try them on! Wink

That practically wrapped up my last seven days! Here’s to hoping the next seven will be just as good, if not better! LaughingLaughing

Here’s a beautiful song that encapsulated my mood swings this week. A personal favourite.

My turn. 8 more days x

The Sunday Times XLIV: Sights, sounds, thoughts, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

November 24, 2013 by thejessicat

Whaddup! Hope the week has been fantastic for you!

Hellloo!

For me, well… I’m currently rubbing the giant purple bruise on my shin, stretching my neck, and fidgeting uncomfortably on my seat.  I guess that’s the kindest effect I’ve ever gotten after what was undeniably an amazing rave party.

One can only expect such discomfort after a long night of insane raving!

Yours truly – before I slipped and fell down hard due to the rain LOL.

That certainly didn’t wipe my wide smile away though!

Many thanks to Wicked Entertainment, I got to watch the incredible EDM prodigy, Zedd as well as Axwell, our EDM kings of the night, in VIP style! Cool

Full blog coverage about this soon! But for now, here are two shots off my Instagram posted live from Wicked Festival 2013.

Raving to Zedd!

Needing to recharge in the comfort of my home after a six long hours of hardcore rave partying, I spent the next day in bed (after running a few errands, of course).

I think I’ve caught the flu – not surprised, as we were all raving under the rain and the chilly wind.

With my little ball of fur.

And then, I decided to stop vegetating in bed all day as the OCD neat freak in me couldn’t stand the mere sight of my room being in such a windswept condition. Yell

Maklumlah, jika tiada ruang kosong lagi untuk mencampak barangku, kurasa, sudah tiba masanya untuk mengemaskan bilik, kan? Haha.

My bedroom is usually very spick-and-span, neat and tidy.

But oddly enough, when you shut an eye to a pile of mess for one second, more mess just builds mountains around it before you can say – WHAT IS THIS DOING HERE?? SurprisedSurprised

BEFORE

AFTER

Satisfied, I made  myself an omelette and jumped back into bed

to continue where I left off on The Big Bang Theory

For some reason, I seem to be wearing my glasses a whole lot more now. Tongue Out

I used to be a little shy of how I looked bespectacled – thinking that it would somehow make me look like an obvious geek or expose the nerd in me.

But I no longer am afraid to wear my glasses in public anymore!

All because… well a little bird said I look cute in it. Tongue Out Heh.

Embracing my inner geek! YAYTongue OutTongue Out

Received a lovely surprise from Tiger Malaysia.

Full blog post on this, soon!

I’ve been rather distracted lately… and busy with other things, which resulted in a lot less cooking and working out in the gym.

Guilty as charged. But for some of the readers who are here for the clean eating meals, here are two I managed to whip up this week. Big Smile

Black Pepper Norwegian Smoked Salmon Omega Egg Omelette!

Roasted Chicken Breast with cajun spices & chili flakes with a side of blanched carrots and spinach!

Okay, I didn’t make this but here’s what I had for breakfast one morning when I was there.

Bacon! (Halal, of course)

Check out a part the Superior hotel room of the Royale Bintang Damansara!

What makes me happier than spending time with my family?

Spending time with my family…. AT THE ICE CREAM STORE! Ha Ha

A shot of eternal peace. Shocked

Just a thought. I’ve always felt a certain sense of serenity within the confinements of a graveyard.

While most people would be afraid to approach tombstones or urns full of ashes, I oddly derive tranquillity from it. There’s just something about graveyards and their quiet nature – wispy, fallen leaves breaking into the surface of the otherwise still lake, and the cold, crisp air that cloaks the atmosphere and surrounds you the moment you enter.

It’s a rush… of life after death. Electric Shock

OKAY! I SHALL STOP HERE LEST YOU ACCUSE ME OF BEING SECRETLY PSYCHOPATHIC LOL.

Let’s talk about happier things on a Sunday night, shall we? Smile

My baby ball of fur, Chivas!

A souvenir from my colleague who just returned from Beijing, China!

Too adorable.

Tuesday saw me warping from an average Plain Jane into a… not-so plain Jane scheduled to attend an event. It was pretty overbearing as I had a long day on Thursday, full of meetings and a back-to-back workload schedule.

And as nightfall descended, no time’s a’wasting!

I got dressed in the car and did my make up while driving. No, I didn’t just say that.

Anggaplah bahawa anda tidak baca ayat di atas, boleh? 😛

Jessicat wears: Camisole in black by GUESS | Accessories by The Wild Things |

Skull mullet skirt by H&M | Studded peep-toe heels by VINCCI |

Clincher belt from a fashion bazaar | Tessuto tote bag by Prada |

So off I went up up up high to Play @ The Roof!

It was another one of Asahi club parties again. Remember this epic one – Club Asahi Miami – I blogged about a few months ago? Wink

Tonight edition featured: Club Asahi Moscow.

Thank you very much Asahi Malaysia and The Roof, for the invitation! Kiss

Blog about this soon, okay? Stay tuned.

Another sleepless night comes around again and I only have to depend on my new blood – coffee.

Oh and… this trip to the coffee joint was pretty flattering. Surprised Heh. Heh.

Why, thank you! Big Smile

But one coffee will never be enough… so here’s another for the day.

Life is a drag. Big Boss

No it is not, at all! It was just the caption I thought was pretty apt for the photo above.

That was a super candid hahaha! I was just resting against a brick wall chilling and yeah, this happened. I thought it looked like a quite an excellent candid, in my natural non self-conscious state so…. here it goes, on the blog!

An afternoon at DOME – one of my favorite to-go places for good food and good coffee.

Saying byebye to BuddySarah as she will be leaving Malaysia soon. Gonna miss you, love!

See you when you are back!Kiss

Wednesday night saw me heading to Secret Recipe’s Sweet 16 X WeChat event.

It was such a gorgeous building in Ara Damansara.

On a cold, rainy Friday night… I wound up in Lavender Cafe for a very pretty dinner date.

Probably 1 Utama’s sweetest spot, its very exquisite restaurant, L. Table is hidden deep inside. You’ll see it once you elbow your way past the jostling crowd thronging the bakery up front.

Our table.

Loving the high ceilings and humongous pillars.

Pretty candles amidst the wine collection.

Caesar Salad with Pulled Chicken

Just your usual Caesar salad done perfectly right, not too much nor too little dressing too!

Pappardelle with Duck Stroganoff

The duck chunks were heavenly, when paired with this hearty sauce!

Fritto Misto.

Not a fan of deep fried food but his assortment of lightly battered seafood and onion rings was tasty.

Nama Chocolate Cake

This delightful half-baked chocolate cake was packed with copious amounts of decadent

moist dark chocolate and topped off with strawberries, blueberries and cream. Yum!

Chocolate Caramel Clafoutis *Note: this takes an extra 20 minutes to prepare*

Not sure if I’d already hit my chocolate quota for the day but this warm French bread pudding with

melted bitter chocolate and home-made caramel seemed a little too rich, sweet and overwhelming.

Perhaps I should try it on its own next time.

Geek alert high on coffee with partner-in-crime Putra!

 Black VS brown. Our usual.

Boo!

Roaming the city streets of Bukit Bintang at night.

Had a good laugh!

Another black VS brown night at Espressamente ILLY, Pavilion

Oh wait, this time it’s brown VS brown.

Pool tourney! Time to pocket that 8 ball hard 😀

Not many people challenge me in pool… but you sir, are a pro!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire is now in cinemas!

I posted this shot on my Instagram. Nampaknya macam seolah-olah bergaya, kan?

But here’s the not-so-glam equivalent. HAHAHAH.

I look like I have a dire need to pee. Yell

The One and Only Bukhara Briyani at Syed Bistro!

And that’s when I spotted a Najib Razak lookalike!

Looks like this is how he will look if he wasn’t our PM, eh?

Just an average Joe eating at a mamak store like everybody else, sans the bodyguards.

On a random note, two more stickers before I get to collect all 3 of my fave superheroes

from Tesco’s pen-top Marvel collection. Spiderman, Captain America & Ironman.

Sorry, Hulk. I’m just not into you. Tongue Out

WOOOOOOOHOOOO! Now I can’t wait to go to drop by Tesco already.

Is it grocery time, yet? /Makes a mental note

Thursday came around and I was so honoured and happy to be invited to Sheena’s wedding!

It was held at Grand Palace, Pavilion.

With the beautiful blushing bride, Sheena.Embarassed

It’s my first time at any of the IMBI Palace Group restaurants!

Check out the 6 course wedding dinner spread they have at Grand Palace:

Lobsters!

Eel!

Shark Fin Soup

No, I simply cannot bring myself to consume this. Cry

Heard of how animal cruelty is at its peak in the making of shark fin soup? Google it.

Steamed Grouper Fish!

Abalones!

Roast Piglet

No, I just can’t consume this too. Just look at its… expression of despair 🙁

Sitting beside colleague Joey! No, there wasn’t Starbucks coffee at the wedding, obviously.

This shot was taken before the wedding began! 😀

After bride & groom, Sheena & Raymond’s grand entrance.

With buddies Veron & Chris during the wedding dinner!

Random selfie. Ready for a brand new week ahead? Boy, I sure am!

I’ll end this post tonight with a beautiful song that’s been on my head for months now.

You make me smile like the sun / Fall out bed / Sing like a bird /

Dizzy in my head / Spin like a record / Crazy on a Sunday night /

You make me dance like a fool / Forget how to breathe / Shine like gold / Buzz like a bee/

Just the thought of you can drive me wild / You make me smile /

Dedicated to you.
