Gastronomic get up

August 25, 2007 by thejessicat

When the parent’s away, the kids will play!!!!!!!!!!!

We had so much fun in the kitchen

When we got home, the chefs of the day started to cook our plans for the day’s sumptuous lunch. Basically, Nadia and Rahimi did 95% of the preps (of which 95% of that 95% was done by Nads) whilst Drea and I did a HUGE AND SIGNIFICANT PORTION – FIVE WHOLE PERCENT!

As it all seems self-explanatory, I shall cease my rich tales, descriptions and whatnot =P

That’s Mr. Chicken sweating in the oven

Rahimi was behind those yummy-licious garlic bread! Uncovered! Exposed!

As we heard our names being called from the food laboratory (read: kitchen) we put down whatever nonsense we were doing (winks at Andrea) and headed for assistance. We stood there by the door like complete morons as Nads buzzed from corner to corner, deftly wielding her mighty crockery.

After a few minutes, our insignificant existence finally came to Nads realisation. Aye aye maam, we’re at your complete disposal! *grins* We were then ‘assigned’ (cheh wahh.. Nads =P)  to the mashed potatos.

The shapeless gooey blob in the bowl

Welcome children! This is AndreaT for the Mr. Mash channel.
Do not attempt to try this at home!
The mystical contents of this colourful box of Mr. Mash will have the power
to cause potatos to grow behind your ears

After hours of  preparations, the outcome was one to  feast on.
Superb!  Stop staring at my plate.  =P

Chef de partie, Chef de cuisine, Sous chef, Commis I & ll all mixed and (Mr.) Mashed up to bear four enthusiastic people which makes up the motley kitchen crew.
Here we are finally sitting down to eat our very own pride and joy

Alls well ends well. Now, lets devour even the plates and bowls!
Hmm.. being the kind person I am, let us feed you through the computer screen.

All you have to do is –
sniff the keyboard twice
 turn around in a circle
and tap the screen three times.
VOILA!
The food has appeared under your chair.

Bahhhh

August 24, 2007 by thejessicat

Here I am working on my assignment, in Newswriting for Print Media class. Well, of course, when there’s WiFi access, here I am on LiveJournal. Haha.

Just feasted my eyes on Drea’s Hong Kong Disneyland pictures. Oh… the envy of them all! =P Especially the Esprit Warehouse purchases! *eyes gleam* Oh well, I suppose I will save up and go on a vacay somewhere far off from home. Hmm, and prior to that I think I might want to pick up a new language.

But first, I need to master my Mandarin from someone!! Joyce dear, over here! *waves hysterically*

Mini barbeque

August 23, 2007 by thejessicat

Hmm… somehow, I managed to have that barbeque- albeit a mini one of course. Nevertheless, I could feel the camaraderie between us besties and it was a warm and fun one! Hmm.. as a Girl Guide, I love messing with barbeque and charcoal pits =P But we used an electric BBQ pit instead. According to Nads, it’s much more convenient, hassle-free and yes, CLEAN. Hmm.. how can I not agree? It’s true… sadly though. Sometimes, having traditionally messy BBQs are great too. Honest!

Steph, Nads and I had a jolly good time being the grill chefs of the night!

That’s us fooling around as we grilled

Two capsicums sitting on a tree –

Kay Ai Ass Ass Ai An Gee –

That was before it was stuffed
with delicious stuffings and gravy

Doesn’t this just looks goood? It tastes even better!
haha  for viewing purposes only!

The ultimatum had finally descended! What’s better than consuming and allowing the delicious flow of aromatic marinated  juices seep through your teeth and all the way down your throat and into your tummy?

Sorry! I couldn’t be bothered to recapture this terribly aligned  picture because we were starving like parched pigs! OInk

The potatoes, sausages, stuffed mushroom chicken capsicums, lamb, chicken, butter prawns were the bomb.

We’re so proud!!

Domestication Part ll

August 20, 2007 by thejessicat

Whenever it comes to Nadia’s house, I’m certain to be domesticated rather drastically, if I do say so myself

I can still remember when she screamed and stared at me, aghast. Hmm, what is it you may wonder? I refuse to share =P Find out, if you want to… by asking Nadia herself. Haha

Her parents are away for the whole week, so we kept her company by hanging out during the day and bunking in during the night. If you ask me, I would throw a mad party for all that I know to just chill and have a blast… the music will be pumping up the atmosphere and I’ll turn up my chandeliers to give my house the edgy look… a BBQ grill party seems fun…next… I’ll stock my refrigerator with lotsa alcohol, ice-cream and snacks… and I’ll also…. oh wait, enough enough! I’m starting to get carried away! Haha.

Please detour back to Nadia’s house. Thank You.

As we had the whole house to ourselves, we had the kitchen to ourselves as well. Anything in the cupboards and the refrigerator would turn out to be a great meal. Let’s put our thinking caps on!

Preperations begun pretty well and organised. I was astonished to see the ingredients placed in such a colour-coordinated manner! It reminded me of a colourful umbrella.. ella ella eh eh. take a look:

Try guessing what each of them are. I DARE U

After what seemed like eons in the kitchen, I got (naturally) distracted and fooled around. Imagine Nadia’s horror plastered al over her face when I played with the huge knife – the cleaver!!! She practically reprimanded me for toying with such a deleterious piece of crockery.

Hmm.. when I start to fool around, I can pretty much resemble a jack-arse chimpanzee. Those are supposedly named ‘thongs’ =P

Don’t take me seriously. I am nuts in the kitchen *winks*

Alright cut the crap. We were talking about the subject: Cooking. Right? Haha. While Nads was busy and very seriously chopping and preparing other stuff (like the picture on the right)

I was busy not being serious. But, I did what I had to do as instructed by Nads. Hey, it ain’t always my chance to be in the kitchen actually cooking something right? That’s why I made the best out of it. It was enlightening and so much fun. Thanx Nads!!!! And for that, you get a magical thong fleeting to you behind your back.

Hehe, just kiding gurl. You rock dear!

Mum was in disbelief as I gave her an account on what we were doing at Nad’s house. Like, wtf? Just because I don’t cook, doesn’t mean that I don’t like cooking. In your face mum, look!

Actually, it doesn’t look convincing at all. It reminds me of those pictures of ministers ‘planting’ a tree for Save the Earth campaign, or even those political leaders posing on the camera. But hey. Trust me, I wouldn’t blog it if it ain’t real.

So here it is, after all the sweat and toil : a hybrid and modified version of spaghetti!

Looks like Mee Goreng rite? Haha. Pictures never do things justice.
As long as it kept us full through the night. Yummmmmmm =P

Since we have the whole week, I can’t wait to ‘assist’ my bestie Nads in cooking some more! Well, I have to say ‘ assist’ because she does most of the things compared to the inexperienced me. *sniff*

Oh, and I’m usually not partial to just mention the good side of the experience. Every moment has a rotten part too right? Here’s the beautifully clogged sink, in style too! *lol*

Outing with Aug juniors

August 18, 2007 by thejessicat

One of my best friends were part of them, so we hung out altogether and got along very easily. Had an outing with them after class for lunch at Gurney Plaza. They’re awesome people and I was glad to have met them all. The sad part was that Nadia and I wasn’t able to join them for a movie that afternoon.

See? We take pride in getting to know our juniors from all the new semesters. That’s the spirit of the mass comm-ers!!

Naina, Nadia, Jess, Nadiah and Kathreen

The thing is, that’s only a fraction of us. More too come as the semester progresses yea? Hehe

That’s Momen being silly — >

This snap was a natural. We were caught by Nadia, hey!

We chat over lunch like, so much! Hmm.. and I learn some Tagalog words too. I hate to say this but, I sorta forgot them. =P I can recall that one of it means ‘mountain man’ and I think the other one meant ‘gay’. Give my memory a jolt please gurls?

She’s so adorable. That silly gurl =) Love ya babe!

The day progressed with me, Nads and my dear lil porcupine in the car. We’re leaving for home!

Adios!
