Sorrrryy! I know I took awhile to snap piccies of my room to show you guys!
As per email request from a dear reader of my new condo which I just moved into, here it is! A blog entry dedicated to my very red room, attributed to my closest friends and family. You’ll see why in a bit 🙂
A little upclose and personal, but here goes!
Bedroom slippers which my Uncle Mike bought for me for Christmas 2004 Curtains and red runner-rug which I bought from Ikea!
To kick things off, this is where I sleep. My sanctuary! 🙂 Lemme introduce you to my daily bed mates
Cute bedsheet & comforter thanks to mom!
The huge-ass red cushion which I bought in Ikea
The pink bolster I had since I was little (you may pinch your noses if u please)
The patchwork teddy with a necktie which harbours 4 years of memories
The huge bear with a mortar board which mom bought for me during graduation
The ‘little devil’ red&black pillow which Jeffro bought for me for my birthday
The adorable white plushie with a heart which theboyfie surprised me with!
Okay so what’s next? My bedside table of course!
It has the red & pink mini rug which I bought from Ikea as well. The red lipped tissue box case intrigued me during my shopping spree in Singapore because it was so luscious! The white chest that holds my accessories was bought by my godmom fer me in HOL House of Leather for my 19th Birthday
The mini top hat was a gift to me from Victoria 🙂 thanks mui!
And of course, my collection of liquor bottles! Booze babeh.
Among the ones displayed over the watchful eyes of Domokun are the Chivas Regal, Johnny Walker Black Label, Bacardi Apple, Belvedere Vodka, Tiger Beer Limited Edition, Wyborowa Vodka and the Absolut Vodka. Most of ’em are gifts and I think 1 of them was self-purchased for collective purposes
The Chivas Regal is under proper surveillance by a voodoo doll handmade for me by Sae Wei for my birthday – and in my fave colors too! Notice how it resembles me with the red streaks in the hair 🙂 So sweet of ya babe
Camwhoring at my wall mirror
Okay this will be where I doll up. It’s a very humble corner of my room though. Minimalistic thoughts! Since I have so much paraphernalia which I use only when I feel like it, I thought I’d just place them in one corner with a mirror and I’m good to go!
Love the body mist from The Body Shop perks you up instantly!
Hmmmmmm.. what else? Okay, the wardrobe of Narnia. Heh. If only I had a wardrobe as enormous maximus as that, I would be the happiest girl on earth! A walk-in closet is a must have when I get married and move into a new home *grins*
My hangers and clothes are colour coordinated I don’t have OCD yo! I just think it looks prettier that way 🙂
Where there’s a rung to hang my clothes, there’s always a rack to place my handbags, gym wear and other non-hanging clothes no? Well this is what it looks like below
It smells of strawberries too! Thanks to that fragrance thingy hanging inside my wardrobe
And the final part of my room which I owe you guys! Right where I’m sitting and typing this as we speak 🙂 Yup, that’s right. It’s my red desk right beside my wardrobe.
Blank space in the middle to place my laptop 🙂
Pink reading light bought as a gift by Godmom
Altec Lansing Headphones bought in *can’t recall which* PC Fair
Roxy Calendar from Spring & Summer 09’s event (I want the 2010 one!)
Red & black Swiss pouch – for all my gadgets, chargers & USBs!
Leopard print Maxis Broadband thanks to Mom & Godmom
Random mouse from *dunno how long ago*
Sony RadioClock which I won in a lucky draw during High School prom
#nowplaying Pitbull – Hotel Room Service SO COINCIDENTAL! A SONG ABOUT A ROOM WHEN I’M BLOGGIN THIS
I have a teddy corner too on my desk!
But whooops! Being me, my teddy corner is kinda “intruded” by my Heineken bottles and 2 shot glasses(essential for house parties!) And oddly enough, this teddy corner has a tiny dinosaur as well as a ‘=)’ plushie. Hmph – might as well call it a rojak corner wtf
Button badges and memorabilia from various events (sorry haven’t put up all when I 1st moved in, now whole wall is full!)
I know it may not be as elaborate, or extremely spacious or as fancy like the one I have back at home. But for now, this will do to give me a nice pretty roof for me to shelter my head from the rain and of course, to zonk out!
Here are other parts of the condo. This is the balcony, now it kinda looks like a mini zen garden with the money plants and pebbles!
And other parts of the living room (sorry taken with cellphone camera only)
Essentially, like I said in the 1st paragraph of this post, I attribute everything to my family and friends. My room is decorated and furnished with gifts from them!(except the things I bought from Ikea) So whenever I step into my sanctuary, it IS indeed full of love 🙂
Not to mention, effort too! Thanks to Victoria, YingZi and June. When I first moved in, from this :
and after spending quite alot of time decorating it myself (and alot of money T_T boohoohoo)
It became what is is today:
Now… *coughs* the hardest task is keeping it this neat at all times! =P
Gooooooooooooood morning! I’m in such a good mood today, had pleasant dreams of my late grandpa and awoke to mom calling me asking me what specifications I want for my new laptop! 🙂 Awesomeness.
Okay so from [this post] and [my tweets], I bet you possies already know I headed down to the Ne-Yo concert which was held on the 7th January 2010. That was a relatively good gig, to be honest! 🙂 It was organized by XPAX in collaboration with Phuture Phlow
The crowds began filling in Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach from as early as 7pm! I grabbed some bites in Republic with some buddies before hitting it off to the gig at 8pm. Oh my, when I walked past the queue to enter the Phlow zone, the line was at least 100 metres long
They even had to line up in a U shape because the queue was too friggin long
Approximately almost 20K people hit the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach!
Anyhoos, it began with the hosts for the event, which happens to be Fly.FM radio announcers, hyping up the crowd. A local individual talent, R&B/soul singer Najwa Mahiaddin entertained us as the opening act for Ne-Yo as well.
The stage set-up this time round was a tad more special The lighting was really pretty! With snowflake-lookalike-spotlights this time round
Very soon after, thunderous chants from the crowd beckoned Ne-Yo to come upstage and he did! I applaud the fact that this gentleman did not make us wait that long (unlike other international acts that came over) All *cough* American *cough* Rejects
“This will not be my LAST TIME to Malaysia! You’ll see me again fo shure” – Ne-Yo
When he burst into the open, roaring fans cheered on for him. He even took notice of a fan’s signage ‘Will You Marry Me?’ and replied an “I Do!” Now now, don’t you get over-excited young lady, you know it’s just good showmanship… and because he’s already marrying me.
KIDDING!
Pals from the floor as well! Yat, Ruby and Tocky 🙂
He kick-started the ball rolling with his ‘Because of You’. Everyone sang along with him! What I found special was that there was a live band accompanying him – with saxophones and horns! Pretty jazzy babeh.
“For the next 3 minutes and 90 seconds… I’ll be your boyfriend” – Ne-Yo
He didn’t come alone though. Ne-Yo’s brought upstage a smokin’ hot lass, Jadyn Maria, which was his protege along with him for the tour. There was much buzz about how irresistably sizzling she was during the Press Conference
“I know all of you came here to watch Ne-Yo but thank you all so much for taking the time to listen to some of my songs”
– Jadyn Maria
Such a polite and pleasant young lady if I do say so myself! 🙂
Amongst the songs he sang was his usual chart toppers of ‘Sexy Love’, ‘So Sick’, ‘Independant Woman’, ‘Closer’, ‘Mad’, ‘Never Knew I Needed’ and also his not so mainstream numbers ‘Fade into the Background’, ‘Lie to Me’, ‘Part of the List’.
Also, he proven his worth not just as a singer (hardly any noticable lip-syncing if not none! Unlike.. *cough* A.. *cough* kon) but also as a songwriter. Along with his own songs, he belted out Mario Berett’ ‘You Should Let Me Love You’, Beyonce’s ‘Irreplaceble’, Rihanna’s ‘Take a Bow’ of which he penned.
I reckon it could be the best night for a certain lady from the VIP zone, as
Ne-Yo sang a Birthday Song for her!
Oh Gosh. Happy happy joy joy! Now if only it was my birthday too… *dreams*
It was apparent that Ne-Yo put his best foot forward as he came decked sharply with a black shirt over a white tank-top, with matching white slacks and of course, his Fedora hat. Together with that and packing a punch with his signature feet-shuffling
Ne-Yo and his team of back-up dancers gave an electrifiying dance routine, dancing with props such as metal chairs and costumes such as a bridal wear (!) amongst other matching outfits. Guess he danced too much and sweated like a mad cow as he continued performing with a blue sweat towel, perhaps sub-consciously, methinks.
“Man I think Imma leave the stage 20 pounds lighter at the end of the concert!” – Ne-Yo
LOL at the blue towel Drop it!
But it wasn’t until towards the middle-end of Ne-Yo’s performance that it escalated to 4th gear and shot the party to the skies! He stripped off his black shirt and began dancing to the late Michael Jackson’s ‘Beat It’, of which he paid tribute to a few times.
One thing I’ve learned though, from Ne-Yo. Is his piece of advice, of which his momma used to tell him. I think I should share this with all of you too 🙂
“In a relationship, one should never EVER, EVER.. EVER… EVER EVER
EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER
… go to bed mad”
Well we certainly won’t anymore! Well at least I wont 🙂 Love Guru much? haha
And yet another good concert to start the ball rolling of 2010! Three cheers to Ne-Yo and other stellar events to come
I’m home and all snuggled up with my comforter at last!
Been lugging around the heavy DSLR gears all night and stretching my arms like a madman even after zooming in to the maximum. Not to mention, sweating like a pig. I’ve never looked so fugly during and after a concert before -_-“
Me before I turned into a fuglywitch
My zone was slightly further than usual as compared to the other concerts I covered such as Black Eyed Peas, All American Rejects, Akon and the rest. So, stress betul okay… worried that I don’t get desirable shots. Argh. Tired and thirsty, I wasn’t treated to VIP this time round (no free flow of liquor or sofa seats!)
But I had fun coming closer to Ne-Yo the sexy love 🙂
Anyway what can I say? Ne-Yo is totally a ladies’ man. Sucha sweetheart! He looked so suave in his trademark fedora and smooth moves upstage.
But more about what actually happened during the gig in the next post!
I’ve got so much to tell you and so excited to! But it’s 3.30AM now and I’m kinda half asleep with 100+ event pics to pick and choose to blog about. Sigh. But do look forward to it tomorrow kay? 🙂
Yay for the Yuletide season! The joy of Christmas definitely brought some smiles to a myriad of orphans. Wherever there’s charity, count me in. Prince Hotel & Residencies organized a very warm Christmas Lunch for these kids from a Christian Home. Complete with face-painting entertainment, balloons and of course, the jiggly ol’ clown.
What made this Christmas meal different from all the other Christmas meals I had was that this one involved hands on Gingerbread Man creations!
My part was only the decor and the icing! But STILL 🙂 Exciting nonetheless. See see how typical of me. I made it look like Jack Skellington from the Nightmare Before Christmas
QUITE similar 🙂 But MY Gingerbread Jack has red buttons instead of a bowtie!
Since it is such a eventful and mythical day today, I shall henceforth speak of a tale how the birth of my Jack Gingerbread unfolds. So sit back, relax and let your inner child rise
There once was an empty (literally!) Gingerbread lying all alone on the plate. He was forlorn, and left with no one to befriend
So I hid at my corner checking out his solid fat belly and love handles with his arms and legs spread wide open. Oops.
ANYWAY
I then spotted King Louis from Prince Hotel decorating some of the Gingerbread atop the table with cream, icing, chocolate rice and jellybeans alike
WHICH GAVE ME A SPLENDID IDEA!
What IF : I, create a Gingerbread Man to be my very own Prince Charming this Christmas? (I know right, how sad. The things you can cook up when the boyfriend isn’t with you hahaha wtf)Perhaps I can give rise to a suave young gentlebread who will sweep me off my feet tonight?
So I began to seek advice from a young professor all the way from the United Kingdom. Sorry there were many many many little professors running around but I chose him first because he had blue eyes. So pretty!
Then I asked the young professors of wisdom who bore magical umbrellas with a clown bodyguarding them with utmost loyalty
The young Incredible Hulks also gave me fantastic and imaginative ideas as to how I should picture my date should be. Should he be smart? Should he be casual? Should he have a giant wart resting atop his nose?
And finally, I took the words of wisdom from the Lords of Food&Beverage Chef Donald Pezar and F&B Manager Andrew
After much research and enlightenment by these hollistic people, I began to gather my thoughts and sit down with the other denitzens of the round table for the last supper. Namely Lord Jellybean, Sir Chocolate Rice, Miss Cream, Reverend Peppermint Paste, Father M&Ms, Icing the Pink and Icing the White.
Hmmm…. nono darling. This won’t do.
My eyes darted across the room as I spotted a very interesting act of passion and art.
Hmmm.. Face all white Eyes round and bright
I danced around the dining area with glee and delight! The time has come for my creation to surface 🙂 Jack oh, Jack Skellington… where art thou?
“I am here oh Jess the Legend! Never out of thy sight!”
Okay enough of fictional stories 🙂
She went home a very happy girl that afternoon With trails of ginger scent lingering through the night
OKAY ENOUGH! >_<
And they lived happily ever after. The End. (sorry, diedie had to put the that in because fairytales always end with that) Hee.
Just a recap, I had the opportunity to venture on a sponsored trip to Sabah, Borneo courtesy of Mayflower Holidays. Oh and, I brought one of my girl friends Jacquelyn along with me to experience the adventure too!
Okay so we finally got our bums up at 6am in the early morning to live our last moments in the wilderness of Borneo. Packed up with a heavy heart and headed to the lobby for our breakfast.
Right after breakfast, we headed down to Sepilok, where the very popular Orang-Utan Rehabilitation Centre was located. The rehabilitation process has 5 steps – admission, quarantine, nursery, outward bound school and survival training. It’s time to check out those Orangutans yo!
Sepilok is where orphaned and injured Orangutans are nursed to return and fend for themselves back into the wilderness. This rehab is a primary lowland forest, a fine showcase of Borneo’s remaining rainforest – almost like the real one yet very user-friendly too!
When we entered, there was a rather grim looking security guard holding up a ‘SILENCE’ signage of which he waves at people’s faces, should they be making unnecessary loud noises. This is because noises of people chattering or children screaming might frighten the Orangutans away.
We first spotted Mariko, a very emo looking Orangutan. (Okay in fact, I can’t tell the difference between an Orangutan, a Gorilla, an Ape, a Monkey and a Macaque initially. I only knew they differed in size but actually they have different facial features!)
Okay it was time for feeding! The dude climbed atop the platform and emptied a whole bucket of bananas for the Orangutans’ consumption. Being the smaller and faster species, the Macaques and Monkeys managed to steal some away before they ran away in fear upon seeing the gigantic Orangutan CID.
CID’s the tailo! Don’t mess with him
It was so amusing how they “warned” each other that CID was coming and they hid behind the tree after that, occasionally snatching some bananas away.
Look at CID’s mouth stuffed with bananas!
More and more Orangutans swung from tree to tree to grab their share of the bananas.
Just before we left, I was extremely tempted to purchase this Orangutan plushie. But it costed a bomb so yeah. See, adorable anot?? It’s schmiling too!
And we then drove to the capital. I insisted we try out the reflexology there! I practically LIVE for reflexologies. Love love love the feeling of pain at your soles, followed by a relaxing-relieving feel when it’s all over.
Reflexology by the blind in an outlet called Hing Loong
They were sssooooo good and the price was so much more affordable than the exorbitant-will-cut-your-wallets-into-a-thousand-pieces ones in KL
We had a good lunch after that, courtesy of Sandakan Hotel. The decor was pretty simple and clean. Oh, they had chillies at the table too. Sorry had to camwhore – was waiting quite a bit for the food to arrive. Muahaha
with Jacque and Gary enjoying their conversation =P
Here’s what I ate, a Beef Steak burger and of course, drank the very popular Sabah Tea that came in abundance here!
I bought like, innumerable boxes and packets you can’t even imagine.. oh and, I placed a packet of it into Grandpa’s palms while he lay on his deathbed. Because one of it was meant for him T_T But guess he had to go.
Anyways, Jacque and I went shopping for pretty trinkets and souvvies back home. *cough* Believe it or not we even headed to the market and explored the town! To buy fruits of all things lololol.
Here I was at the T-Shirt store. One T-Shirt was freaking more than 50bucks FML. But I shut my eyes, took a deep breath and paid anyway. 🙂
My new Borneo Headhunters Tshirt!
Our next stop was the Sim Sim Water Village. I was in awe the moment I arrived. It resembles a fishing village, no? So serene too.
I daren’t cross the flimsy looking bridge made of nothing but near-chewed up planks and nails! What if it gave way beneath us?
But I guess I was just paranoid, given the fact that the villages walked up and down without a care in the world with their children skipping on it too!
So I faced skywards and walked the plank. (hohoho pun)
I walked right to the very end of the bridge and began to take in the view from there. Pretty breathtaking, if you’re the type who yearns to be one-to-one with nature.
TEABREAK! SPOTTED SOMETHING HILARIOUS THAT I JUST HAD TO TAKE A PICTURE OF. DON’T ASK HE WHAT HE’S DOING. I’VE NO CLUE!
LOL
I casually took a seat atop the wooden bridge and made myself comfortable there and then. Parked my butt there in the middle of the “road”! Hmm.. ya can’t do that in the city lest you be knocked down by a 10-tonne truck.
And guess what!? It wasn’t that bad after all. It was rather fun to see the sea beneath you with each step you take. I was relatively fascinated by the likes of the villages of Sim Sim Water Village. Their humble abode was built on wooden stilts with bits and pieces of concrete!
But I envied the way their lifestyle. So carefree, with nothing standing in the way of them and nature’s wonder. Waves washing hard against the boulders, flocks of birds fleeting by, cool and airy breeze caressing your cheeks, violet hues and warm shades of vermillion streaked across the sky in the evenings.
Beautiful. Why do we urban folks give up all these for technology?
Loves.
Jacque and I played with the thingamajig that made music. Reminds me of a wooden makeshift piano! That’s her videoing me when I just HAD to play with the thingy.
Found myself chit chatting with the villages and apparently, they barely know much about KL City where I come from. All they knew was that it was nothing close to the lush greeneries they have here. Which I do admit – was partially true.
Just a few hours before departure, we killed time having fun in the War Memorial, which was the site of the original Sandakan Prisoner of War (POW) camp.
PEOPLE DID DEATH MARCHES THERE OMFG with approximately 500 deaths. Okay, ‘nuff of the depressing and bleak facts.
On the other hand, it was like a very huge park with a water lily pond!
Gary then led us up the staircase, where more interesting things were sitting prettily waiting for us. Haha. It was quite a long walk with mozzies in the evening but fear not, we were armed with mosquito repellant and long pants!
Pretty cottage-like building We got our visual map/guide from there!
Inside the war memorial was full of artifacts and mechanical inventions. We took interest in the Boiler, which was reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelly tall! It was to generate electricity for the Sandakan POW Camp.
Okay, here’s our height difference.. if you must see.
I don’t even come close!
We also spotted the excavator. It’s something like a trenching machine was used by those Japs to use during construction of the airfield.
Reminded me of a tractor-like-digging thing. Very rusty and ancient-relic looking yo! Meet Ruston Bucyrus. Whoa.. even the names sounds like some suave Englishman’s.
Got so tired of jumping after 100 failed attempts (ok lah, I was exaggerating)
Soon enough, it was time to say goodbye.
We lugged our stuff and once again, headed off to the Sandakan Airport. However, there was a little complication towards the very end. Our MAS flight was delayed for another few hours! But our tour guide, Gary, was gracious enough to accompany us for dinner.
We chit chatted the evening away and reminisced the memories of our past 2 days. Goodbyes were never meant to be sweet. Before we knew it, our flight was called and we had to bid farewell.
