Sometimes, it’s just not your day.

April 23, 2011 by thejessicat

Sometimes, I need my escapade.

And sometimes, I yearn to just lie under the sun to let life pass me by.

Sometimes, I am aimless; not knowing where certain routes lead to.

And sometimes, I could walk down a path which still remains unwritten.

Sometimes, I could not be bothered where the trail leads.

And sometimes, I reckon it's the journey that matters the most.

Sometimes, I am fearless; but many a time plagued by inhibitions

And sometimes I am sheltered by a facade I wish to believe in.

Sometimes I wish I could only see

And sometimes not dive headfirst in a vault of quandaries

Sometimes people stumble and fall; after all, to err is human

And sometimes the untold illuminates the answer that can never be found

Sometimes, the wrong methods are proven the best way to constantly learn

And sometimes, it helps you discover yourself in the process

Bold, adventurous and playful like a canine

Sometimes I wish I didn't have a single qualm in my mind

Thriving on long walks, playing fetch and frolicking on the grass

Sometimes a huge, mesmerizing smile will allow storms to come to pass

Sometimes I wish I never had to suppress myself; thus ambiguous, cryptic and a tad misunderstood

And sometimes I enjoy free-falling and being susceptible to life's treasures

Sometimes I need my liberation, just to run an exhilarating mile

And sometimes, if I'm lucky it may lead me back to familiarity

Sometimes all I need is to close my eyes and feel it brimming within

So come here; lay with me on the grass and show me something so beautiful like never before.

And that's why they say dogs are man's best friend

***

P/S: I have no idea how I managed to turn a sunny day out into a surge of abstract thoughts

Believe me, it was supposed to be my usual carefree thing but it didn't quite turn out that way.

Goodnight all.

Sunrise after sunrise, another one beckons; it will herald a new day, I'm certain.

Watching female strippers get down dirty, pole-dancing! | Dreams Gentlemens Club @ Elizabeth Street, Melbourne

April 13, 2011 by thejessicat

So!

I had to insert the word 'female' before the word 'strippers' in the title above to avoid confusion. Also, partly because my previous post on strippers were boys – none other than the dashing, erotic and world-famous Chippendales male strippers.

Most of my male readers were remotely disappointed upon learning that they weren't female strippers I was talking about.

But yeah, this time. It pretty much is.

But no, it's not us.

Ruby and I were just camwhoring while waiting for the rest to get ready

On Ruby's birthday, we decided to go to a strip club downtown Melbourne.

Since I've never been to one before, I thought, "hey, why not. Let's see what this is really like."

My gurls and I

Let's make this night one to remember! 🙂

So we dressed up, dolled up, sharpened up and put our best foot forward before setting off to the city

My Ne-Yo and I

We headed up to a bar-club first to grab a few drinks, down some shots and dance a few hours away.

Only then will be be smashed enough to rock up at the strip club. (and hopefully enjoy it better)

At Amber Lounge, along Lonsdale Street

Prepare for a night of mayhem!

It has been a long, long, LONG time since I've ever danced up high on the podium… letting go of everything with no reservations, feeling liberated, carefree and letting my hair down. Girls just want to have fun! 😀

In Ozzieland, people don't really give a a rats ass about extreme things; but instead, came up to join us.

Tequila shots shots shots shots shots shots shots… EVERYBODY!

Keep downing drinks like this~
Not tomorrow that just right now, now, now, now, now, now~

Gonna set the roof on fire~

Also, I made a short video of us skulling our shots

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N54P6vgUHLw

Happy Birthday Ruby 🙂 Hope you had a blast

Oh and.. we were in for some nasty fun later… ready?

(Ok oddly enough, we kinda look naked in the above photo)

Anyway, no photography was allowed in Dreams Gentlemens Club.

But if you've been reading me long enough, clearly, I have never given a rats ass about this reg in particular 🙂 And I'm technically a tourist, what better reason to introduce new things to my peeps back home?

So, out comes the sneaky stealth-like photos!

But surely, you can't expect photos of perfect quality when a tipsy girl is

taking Blackberry photos in hush-hush, can you?

Besides, I didn't want them to be recognized nor blow their identity

I just wanted to show you a teeny bit of what I've experienced for the 1st time

If you want more, why not visit Dreams yourself? 🙂

We were there for some 3 good hours

And since it was her birthday, Ruby deserved a private lap-dance!

They were really professional, without a doubt

A no-kissing policy on this stage too, methinks

It also reminds me of the movies where men would slit cash in their underwear. Hot!

And that's not all! Here's the sneaky video that the birthday girl Ruby shot on her cellphone 🙂

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLpvUsDQReM

Blurry but you can still make out the silhouette of the naked chick doing her thang

We hope you enjoyed your private strip dance, Ruby!

haha and here's me putting on a ridiculous cock-eyed-doll-eyed look for the fun of it

Thank God the week is done~
I feel like a zombie gone back to life~
 back, back to life~

Hands up, and suddenly we all got our hands up~
No control of my body~

Ain’t I seen you before?
I think I remember those eyes, eyes, eyes, eyes~

Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again~
Yeah, baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again~
So dance, dance, like it’s the last, last night of your life~

Gonna get you right~
Cause baby tonight, the DJ got us falling in love again~

Keep downing drinks like this~
Not tomorrow that just right now, now, now, now, now, now~

Skull it! rar rar rar!

Happy Birthday again, Ruby. We're glad you were smashed haha!

By the wee hours of the morning, we have had enough and halted our night to an end 🙂

Another one of my weekend nights well spent. It's almost therapeutic to let loose some steam especially after enduring weekdays after days of hard knocks. I thrive on parties of any kind. It rejuvenates me to tackle the week ahead!

I'm sure Obama will be proud! (or… not?) 😛

After my weekend is said and done in the city, Sunday evenings are usually spent speeding back

to Churchill, Gippsland where I belong for the week LOL

Kon and I heading back home to Gippy, all aboard the V-Line train.

"All work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy"

Or in this case, "makes Jess a dull girl". So now that I have had my dosage of fun, it's back to business and in all seriousness, 2nd round of studies and assignments begins NOW.

Pronto!

When in Melbourne city… I live my life and indulge in it all!

April 11, 2011 by thejessicat

With my usual weekends spent in the city of Melbourne, I am usually nomadic and tend to succumb to aimless shopping and gallivanting.

Either that or just hangin' out with my citymates over a cuppa…. and hitting the pubs for a drink or two at night.

Shoppingtime at Queen Victoria street market

Yes, stop staring at my feet. I fell prey to the trend of UGG boots.

I know I once condemned its hideousness but then again, that's what everyone once said about Crocs in the beginning too.

Once you find something that suits you, you'll eventually end up strutting down the street with your favorite pair. And they keep my feet warm from this chilly weather of averagely 15°C

Sales. Sales… oh the music of sales.

Bells are ringing, I swear. Whenever I walk past a display window, the new arrivals and lovelies beckon me to come closer. Like the Pied Piper of Hamlin to the rats and children.

Retail therapy. Say no no no no before your bank dries up, Jess.

Also, when you're in the city, remember to eat your heart out.

Try things that are not available in your home country. In my case, would be Malaysia. So when in Melbourne, get to Subway's Chicken and Bacon Ranch, McDonalds' Angus Beef Burger, Hungry Jack's Bacon Deluxe and the list goes on.

OMM NOM NOM NOM

FORGIVE ME, IF YOU'RE ON A DIET.

this is mild food porn.

Anyway!

There's more than just fast food, obviously. Deli restaurants, international cuisines from every part of the world you can imagine (I will share my Greek escapade pretty damn soon 😉 ) and yes, chocolate lounges are a must-go.

Again, I'm sorry if you're lactose intolerant!

Because these are pretty fine bites of cocoa

Now, excuse me while I devour the entire shop and tip the weighing scales 😛

Holla me if you ever come down to Melbourne!

Look ma, I’m sitting on the grass! | Monash International Exchange student orientation week

March 26, 2011 by thejessicat

Okay this post was actually scheduled to be up 3 weeks ago!

But for some reason, it decided to go bonkers. So just imagine you are reading this like waaaayyyy before today.

You know how advertisements about universities always try to depict some form of "excellence" or "condusive study environment" and the like?

The usual pin-ups of students posing all-so-serious in the library, in the science lab or on the grass?

Looks like they weren't kidding.

Because here in Australia, it really is a real-life scenario

In Malaysia, to be honest, no one sits on the grass to study or even hang out.

Probably there will be a handful of white people doing so occasionally. But apart from that, people usually keep off our grass.

Not that there's anything wrong with our grass or that it is layered with pesticide or something.

It's just not our culture to sit on the grass – I presume. Most of us would just hang out at the uni cafe, uni lounge or even the library.

May the people who never had their asses on university grass before,

come sit and pose for an obligatory photo

Look ma, I'm sitting on the grass!

The university grass!

I gotta admit, we find it pretty queer to do that when there are plenty of vacant seats around.

But as they say – when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Australia, in this case.

During orientation break. Meet my new friend, Anne from Germany.

I can't pronounce her last name so just 'Anne' will do for now 🙂

Fellow Malaysians on exchange!

We were treated to a hot pancake breakfast, giant muffins and hot chocolate/coffee.

Hmm.. anything to make us feel welcome I guess? 🙂

At night, we all headed to the glorious Queen Victoria Market.

We were pretty lucky as it was summer when we arrived.

I hear that there was a night festival of food, culture and music ONLY during the summer nights.

It reminded of our 'pasar malam' back in Malaysia.

Our night markets often comprise food and cheap shopping

Here we are inside the night market!

Fellow exchange students from Malaysia, Canada, Germany and local Ozzies

I loved what I saw.

There were international food all over the place and so many things to buy!

Some form of Mediterranean food

A rather icky pig head on display.

If I didn't love meat so much, I'd turn vegan the moment I saw this photo

Okay here's a cute picture to erase any recollection of the pig head.

MUPPETS ON SALE!!! AWWWWWWWWW

Apart from eating and shopping, we even sampled Yellow Tail wine!

Yup, there was a free tasting session. And I must say, it's pretty damn good.

There were many flavours, but I loved 3 of it only.

They are Moscato, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir

ommmnomnom wine.

The very next day!!

A short city tour – of which I have already explored in this post. Remember? 🙂

Excited exchange students from all over the world

Made some new friends, Lisa and Adam

Went to Federation Square and walked down some steps which I never knew existed beforehand!

Down down down to a scenic riverside bar.

Yarra River!

And the off to Chinatown for dinner!

Was pretty strange that I came all the way to Australia – to eat Asian food.

But hey, there were heaps!!

In most parts of the city or even suburbs like Glen Waverly or Boxhill, there are Asian food aplenty.

But when I'm here, I tend to avoid Asian food like the plague because it would feel so silly to eat something which I can easily have back home in Malaysia for a huge fraction of the price!! Like, one plate of noodles here would cost me 15 $AUD = 45 Ringgit Malaysia when I could pay 5 Ringgit Malaysia for the exact same thing.

YOU TELL ME. MY WALLET PAIN… OR NOT?

After dinner, we chilled out at Emerald Peacock

It's a really pretty rooftop bar! 🙂

Now, if only the view wasn't blocked by so many high-rise buildings, it would be perfect.

With Lina. She bought me this drink! Ommnomnom

On my way back home. I bought a pie from PieFace for supper because I thought the waiter was cute as! And also because I was hungry duh

So! Orientation Week in Monash Clayton campus went pretty swell for the international students.

They made sure we are well-informed of the culture and how to get around town before we all seperated into our campuses.

Oh and… I'M SITTING ON THE GRASS!

(which reminds me, the last time I sat on the grass was when this photograph was taken)

*1 new notification* I swear Facebook has its powers on me

March 24, 2011 by thejessicat

As we speak, this is me in a nutshell.

Caffeine. Caffeine. Bloodshot eyes. Overdose.

Oh but wait, some rezmates piqued my interest while I was deep in concentration. What are they doing?

2 people has posted on your wall

Taking Facebook to the real world in South 9 rez

On a completely unrelated note, I've just handed in my E-Journalism assignment in the pigeon hole and now continuing where I left off from my Cultural & Communications Policy assignment last night.

And so toiling on my next assignment has really taken its toll on me.

Night after night in the micro lab ramming on the keyboard – thankfully I've a studybuddy to keep me company lest I go insane. I've been pulling a raincheck on a few parties to date, all because I felt an incessant need to complete this. MIghty stressed now, you can't even imagine 🙁

Burning the midnight oil – I've not been back home for days!

The apocalypse is near, for I've turned into a zombie and joined their clan.

I pulled an all-nighter working on this assignment and can't wait to let off some steam in the city this weekend.

I'm going to Alumbra! One of the best bar-club-lounge in Melbourne. Can't wait! 😀 😀

It's a marathon of assignments now… no sleep tonight! This better be worth it.
