Prepare for trouble, and make it double! Team Rocket rocks up at the biggest costume party of the year

April 17, 2011 by thejessicat

I've said time and time again about how much I enjoy theme parties, fancy dress parties or costume parties of any sort.

The thrill lies in going to a party as someone/something else, you bet!

To date, I've rocked up according to lots of themes; often as an individual, but not this time round.

So… prepare for trouble!

And this time, make it double! πŸ˜‰

Childhood friends of mine would know how much of a Pokemon aficionado I was – or, am still, to be exact. Heck, remember when I was zealously addicted to the newly launched Pokemon Black on Nintendo DS written in this post?

I used to know  all (then) 151 Pokemon names by heart and all the soundtracks too.

So… who am I? πŸ™‚

Does it ring a bell yet?

Okay, guessing game's over!

Thankfully, my fellow Pokemon fan and partner-in-crime, Kon and I decided to go as this dynamic duo.

Watch out Fancy Dress Party, here we come!

Make way for….

JESSIE AND JAMES OF THE INFAMOUS TEAM ROCKET!

If you've been living under a rock or had a deprived childhood of not knowing who they are, allow us to introduce ourselves in this video –

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4TPri39cxk&feature=related

I've always loved villains of any movie, of any kind. Maybe cos I'm morbid like that.

And so, I dolled up on the night of the Fancy Dress party to look the best I can to be one-half of this wicked duo while my partner James was also getting ready 3 doors down the road.

Hmmm… not too bad replica, right? πŸ˜›

She's my hero!

It was a very, very spontaneous idea, in fact.

Kon and I were just talking about the upcoming Fancy Dress Party over Facebook chat one night and randomly dished out ideas of what would be nice to go as. And suddenly, we conjured the idea of going together as the dynamic duo we are.

Going as individuals are a very common thing, everyone would go as individuals.

So what will really make one stand out from the crowd?

Two heads are always better than one, and packs a bigger punch too!

What could be better than Team Rocket?

To protect the world from devastation

To unite all peoples within our nation

To denounce the evils of truth and love

To extend our reach to the stars above

Jessie!

James!

Team Rocket blast off at the speed of light

Surrender now, or prepare to fight!

Oh and here's a trivia if you didn't already know, Jessie and James of Team Rocket are not a couple nor a romantic pair!

They're partners, or in other words, a duo. (I used to think they were siblings when I was 10 years old!)

But a very adorable duo if I do say so myself! πŸ˜€

That's why I love them so much, and they're kick ass too!

Wicked, ey?

This post is dedicated to my absolute love for Team Rocket and commemorating the awesomeness of this tag-team!

But what's coming up next will be…

The entire Fancy Dress party! Lotsa pics with my buddies all dressed up as insane characters too!

Oh and, it was fun when we browsed online for the costumes and surveyed the prices $$$

If any cosplayers are interested, E-bay and Milanoo has custom-made gears you can look out for.

It takes up to 3 weeks to reach you, so ya ought to plan in advance!

This is Team Rocket, signing off!

Bring on the neons, bright colours and glow-in-the-darks… it’s Fluro Party time!

March 15, 2011 by thejessicat

If I haven't been getting enough of parties, you know you won't stop seeing all the party pichas roll in every week!

If you remember from my previous posts on Beach Party and Back to Skool Party, themeparties rock my world πŸ™‚

So what's the theme for this week?

Go figure!

Okay, it's probably not a good idea to ask you because ya'll would know just by reading the title of this blogpost!

Think bright, think colourful, think neon… for it's FLURO PARTY!

With Cleefy and Devin πŸ™‚

So we got round together a few hours before the party to dress up, make up and get ready!

Yup, make up… you heard right, even for the guys πŸ™‚ More of… face painting and neon hairspray haha

Alex began to draw tribal sleeve 'tattoos' on his arm with Orange fluro paint (top left)

I helped Mossy draw his face with a bright green Zinc Stick (bottom right)

Of course, when the party strikes, you'd be certain to see lotsa cross dressers πŸ˜›

But all in the name of fun of course.

Check Devin out. He figured that cross-dressing as a ballerina would be great for the lulz I reckon!

Watch out! The fluroscent green ballerina is out to getcha!

So we continued painting ourselves with fluro colours, wearing the glowsticks and doing our hair…

Kayla stuck highlighter post-its on herself and one on me LOLOL

We're almost ready to rock up the party πŸ˜€

More of the rest came over and we had a few shots and skulled our drinks just to get things kickin' up

As it was raining, Erin brought her brolly along. Although I'm not sure if the umbrella was part of her props for the party, or really to shelter us from the rain! πŸ˜› πŸ˜› It works both ways so yeah haha

I'm all set and ready to go!

No rain can dampen my spirits… ever ever ever!

So off we ran to the MUGSU lounge under the rain and braced the cold wind to the heat of the party…

Turn it up! Turn it up! Mash it up!

It ain't the end of the world!

Party like, like it's the end of the world!

It was insane how there were so many people tonight and we had all the lights turned off to make our neons and fluros really stand out!

This is only part of the crowd

It was a night of mayhem… but the party has just begun!

I like how my nails match my fluro pink top πŸ˜‰

Honestly, I've never been this pink before. I was pretty pink all over… from head to toe

Pink had never been my colour… it was always red. But red doesn't exactly fall under neons so yeah.

Love ma mates heaps

Don't stop! Make it pop!

DJ blow my speakers up tonight!

Oh and this is Milly, one of my rezmates πŸ™‚

She loves to prank me for no good reason and I'm usually very gullible to her trickery

I was having really horrid nightmares for the past few weeks (she didn't know) but she had to tell me that there was a dead body in one of the unoccupied rooms next to mine. And that security had just found it the night before.

I almost cried and suddenly it all made sense as to why I had been "disturbed" by nightmares. Turns out it was a joke ;(

DAGNAMMIT!! πŸ™

Anyhoozers, digression over.

Back to the party! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Have a drink with me! And let's make tonight go down in history!~

After a few hours hitting the dance floor and sweatin' it all up, it was time to take a breather at the decks.

But I reckon it's no chill pill outside because the party is still ongoing

Popping bottles till we can't stand!

We keep it rockin' till 6AM!

Even our fave security guard Antonio was feeling the heat! πŸ™‚

His uniform is naturally fluroscent orange so yes, he is STILL very much part of the party haha

Back inside, Bardha took me for a spin with some Tequila shots

Ohnoes! Gulp gulp gulp

1…2..3… bottoms up!

When we drink we do it right gettin' slizzard

Sippin' sizzard in my ride, like a three six

Now I'm feeling so fly lika G6!

Towards the end of the night, we were all still pumped up

There were so many glowsticks and glowballs on the dancefloor that we picked up most of it LOL

LOLOL while dancing, Kon tied me up with the neon orange bow lika present

I think I look like a gift box now haha!

As always, the party ended on a high… full swing ahead

Goodnight folks πŸ˜‰

Tonight, Imma fight!

Till we see the sunlight!

Tik tok on the clock

But the party don't stop no! (I wish it didn't!)

Back to School party! Bring out the nerd glasses, uniforms & join us for some nasty lessons tonight?

March 4, 2011 by thejessicat

It's time for some night classes yo!

Care to teach this keen student a thing or two she doesn't know? πŸ˜‰

Show her what you've got.

LOLOL Aight, enough shitting. Classes really did start already for me this week.

If you bother to know at all, I'm taking Media Audiences, Cultural & Communications Policy, E-Journalism and Writing Techniques this semester.

I had half the mind to skip class the next morning…..

After these "classes" last night *wink*

hubba hubba! πŸ˜€

But nnnnnno!

It's mind over matter. I didn't just come here to knock myself out and party every night.

I also came here to earn my Bachelor's degree. *beams proudly* πŸ˜‰

So I managed to drag myself outta bed thanks to this compelling yet annoying force of a conscience I have. Grrr.

Anyway, let me introduce yo some of my "class"mates for tonight's party!

Where fun is our major and alco shots are homework πŸ˜€

Verity and I after getting all dolled up πŸ˜€

I'm loving how Abraham looks tonight! πŸ˜€

Say hello to the preppy schoolboy!

We started having some fun on the kitchen counter ala girls gone wild πŸ˜›

It was fun! Since back2skool saw most of us dressing up as sexy students and teachers

can you handle us? πŸ˜›

Deana looked hawtttt in her costume!

double take!

And speaking of which,

I swear Absinthe should be made legal in Malaysia!

That green fairy hit me like a bullet train. Seeing stars? I love

Absinthe, the motherload of all drinks

SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS SHOTS

EVERYBODEEEHHHHH!! πŸ˜€

SKYY Vodka was in the house too

Kon looked sharp that night too.

Something reminded me of Harry Potter LOLOL  πŸ˜›

After our pre-drinks session, some of us were already smashed before even getting into the party!

Easyy mate, easy!!! πŸ˜€ The fun hasn't begun just yet wootwoot!

Nerds on the loose!

What's the equation? Do the math.

LOLOL Danny was so tipsy that he made everyone kiss him!

On chat yesterday, he didn't believe me when I told him he was doing that all night!

I wish someone would vouch for me muahahahaha

Thankfully, Bardha backed me up!

Yes Danny, you did kiss everyone last night hahahaha

With Jade and Todd resting on the couch!

My feet hurt real bad that night.

Might as well go barefoot and looking like a homeless person but feeling comfortable! Hmph.

Sometimes I wonder, why do girls even bother wearing high heels or boots when on the inside we're all hurting beneath that glamorous facade πŸ™

My point illustrated.

Anyway, I tried shrugging my pain aside in hopes to enjoy the party.

I am not walking on pins and needles I am not walking on pins and needles

I am not walking on pins and needles

I am not walking on pins and needles I am not walking on pins and needles

I am not walking on pins and needles I am not walking on pins and needles

I am not walking on pins and needles

That mantra struck me that very night. Hmmm… it has it powers πŸ˜›

Took off my 4-inch high heeled boots, danced and head-banged the night away with Kon

What could be better than having good and fun company?

I was feeling very moody for the 1st hour of the party (don't ask) but gradually, I was cheered up and ended up enjoyed myself so much! Woot woot!

Allyce, me and Kon

I don't even remember when this photo was even taken.

A friend sent it to me. I look so smashed & cross-eyed it's not even funny LOL

The party ended pretty late, just as it did with Monday night's beach party, but I didn't stay that late.

A few of us headed back to rez earlier for some snoooozes πŸ˜‰

Thank you for reading boys and girls, class is dismissed πŸ™‚

See you during recess! xoxo

So cute! My fluffy adorable “nekomimi” black cat ears from Comic Fiesta 2010

January 14, 2011 by thejessicat

Okay so who would've thought I'd succumb to the Jap pop culture.

I'm not referring (how about never?) to the likes of ganguro or lolita, but mild influence that appealed to the kittycat streak in me.

I don't know if this is a guy or a girl. Looks pretty androgynous to me.

Not a single clue where/what anime he's from too

But what hit me was the black cat and his black cat ears.

Long time readers of this blog will jolly well know my penchant to cats

Googling around, I found another one.

Now this one's a cutie. Except that she has pink hair and I have it red.

So just the other day, when I was sent to cover a story in Berjaya Times Square hotel for Comic Fiesta 2010, I was honestly not looking forward to it at all. Come on, Japanese culture? I never really found my affinity in that.

If it's any info, I'm a total zero in Anime, Manga, J-Pop and the like.

But a job is a job, and duty calls So I made my way there one early Saturday morning.

And there I saw people in out-of-this-world hair colors, all extravagantly dressed

Alright. I was in the right place.

Fo shizzle! πŸ˜‰

Some piccies for your viewing pleasure πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

One could always use a helping hand in dolling up for a cosplay competition

Characters from Marvel's Batman on stage for a fan performance

Harlequin and the Joker!

Gawdknowswhat anime characters engaging in a swordfight

Gawdknowswho from which anime singing a themesong

Oooh art competition! This guy has so much creative juices, he drew the whole thing!

(Except the NIPS word, which was there by default)

I saw so many people portraying their favorite anime and manga characters… of which I haven't got the slightest idea of who they came dressed up as. For a moment there, I swear I felt as though I've entered a Greek symposium, and all I see are a bunch of Alpha Beta jargon αβγδεζηθ

Who? Where? But pretty awesome porcelain skin you got there, dude πŸ˜€

Are you about to wage a paintball fight in the ballroom?

If my instincts don't fail me, I'll take a lucky guess that these characters are from Naruto

Little Red Asian Riding Hood?

I reckon she's probably dressed up as some goddess with supernatural powers

FINALLY something I recognize!

Who wouldn't know the all time favorite Super Mario Bros. ?? πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

It's a timeless video game. If you don't know, you probably must've had a sad childhood or have been living under a rock, devoid of entertainment. Okay, so I shouldn't have said that. But I just did. hah.

Because coming from me, you may not want to take what I've just mentioned seriously. Yours truly here does not play any video/virtual/online games of any sort. Sad excuse, but I hardly ever have the time. Heck, I don't even know what games are built-in my Blackberry!

Super Mario and Luigi πŸ˜€

So anyway, that Saturday morning was something new. Instead of spending the sunny mornings of weekends sleeping till lunchtime, I actually witnessed a very strange yet interesting culture to me. πŸ˜€

And also…. hate to say this but…. I succumbed a little to it too.

And I did.

Don't fall off your chair laughing but I honestly didn't know what got into me when I bought this.

You've already saw it in the 1st picture but I repeat.

DO

NOT

LAUGH

Odd, i know.I was wearing this in the car while driving home

But in all honesty, where on earth can you go out decked in those pair of ears without attracting rude stares and whispers?

Only 3 places. Costume parties, roleplay sessions or in your car. Heh.

Clearly, I chose the third option.

If you ask me, I still haven't got around the idea of having 2 fluffy ears sprouting out from the top of my head just yet.

But I still find them pretty damn cute. Looks like it has become a new addition to my costume drawer :D

Signing off,

TheJessiCAT, in capitals, just for today πŸ˜›

Wacoal 62nd Anniversary Masquerade n’ Cocktail party! Favola Italian restaurant, Le Meridien Hotel KL

January 6, 2011 by thejessicat

Come Fly With Me! πŸ™‚

Those were the 1st words that greeted me as I stepped outta the lift and into the premises of Wacoal's 62nd Anniversary Cocktail Masquerade.

This post is a little late – I wasn't able to find the photos of Executive Director Mr. Hisao Sugiyama ;(

Might ask for the Official Photographer for it though, cos the Jap boss Mr. Hisao was sucha warm and down-to-earth guy for a big shot he is. I enjoyed talking to him as he was really friendly to all of us too.

I Masquerade parties!!

Since I was a little early for the event, I was ushered to the lounge to wait with the other early birds as well.

We were then served cocktails, fruit juices and red wine πŸ˜€

Mannequins donning the latest lingerie from the Wacoal collection

I had to wait quite a bit. As the rest of my friends were expected to arrive late; Malaysian traffic jams. *rolls eyes*

The event began later than the scheduled time as well. But I found something to occupy my time anyhow!

Spotted a huge infinity mirror to camwhore with! πŸ˜€ Ohjoy!

Feeling slightly restless, I started walking around to check out the grandeur of this vicinity

Floor-to-ceiling windows, crystal chandeliers and polished doors fringed with sturdy wooden frames. What I'd give to live here πŸ˜‰

After the appeasing exploration, I went back to the lounge.

Boy it was rather chilly outside!

Took a slug of wine from my glass… while waiting. Didn't notice I finished 2 already! *hic

Finally! The waiting lounge was getting more and more crowded with guests dressed to the nines.

I guess people come in waves! πŸ˜€

Buddy Anis arrived just about the same time too. She looked, in my opinion, fabulous in her long blue dress and all made up!

Dressed all in blue. What a contrast to my dark pink flowwy dress πŸ˜€

I should have toted my reddish-pink bag too. We would match if I did!

After mingling around over lotsa drinks, it was time for the showdown.

We were all ushered to Favola, the famous Italian restaurant where the cocktail party starts!

Brought along my glass of wine! Didn't wanna waste as I was almost done

Capturing moments again.

Even before I've laid eyes on the food, the place was enough to mesmerize me πŸ˜€

Entering Favola!!

A whole friggin' table of canapes!

Best appetizers for any cocktail party ever

Anis and I certainly enjoyed the tapas food there

Oh and this one is really delish! It's the Squid and Scallops canape

So much to go around… and in so many varieties!

Unsure of what this is called again, but it was one of my favorites of the night :

Tiny lil pieces just makes you crave for more, ain't it?

Loved the Bruschetta's there too. They had choices Tomato, Basil, Smoked Salmon and Tuna.

Camwhore break! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

2 ladies dressed in blue then came strutting down the podium.

Armd with fancy violins, they boasted catchy tunes and melodies with each swipe of their bows

Yup, certainly got us going!

Their outfit somehow reminds me of Tinkerbell from Disney's Peter Pan πŸ˜‰ hehe

After the superb performance, Stephanie Chai (the host for tonight) then gave all of us guests a warm welcome and cued for the fashion show to begin. One by one, lovely, lanky ladies with svelte figures catwalked down the podium in Wacoal's latest lingerie series. ;)

Here are the fine pieces from the Parfage collection.

I watched as these models sashayed down the runway in Wacoal lingerie, looking effortlessly beautiful and sexy.

I guess what makes you feel great inside does project a certain amount of confidence on the outside!

Anyway, here are some from the Moi Cree Neo collection :

it doesn't stop there. For a moment, I felt I was in New York or Milan watching Victoria's Secret models doing their thang.

The blend of the ambience, the music, the lingerie and the music was two thumbs up

Let's continue with Wacoal's next collection. This one is called Sensuala :

So chic, no? πŸ˜€ This one above is my favorite of them all

Here are the more extravagently showcased ones, with bizzare props and whatnot.

Make way for the Sorci collection ! Heh. I like this collection, it sounds saucy too πŸ˜› πŸ˜›

Once that was over and done with, there was still 2 more collections that has not been exhibited.

They are the Jia cami and the masquerade collection.

I wasn't around during the Jia cami show… nature calls! :P So this is how it looks like, for your sake hehe.

(Photo credits to news dailies Harian Metro and New Straits Times)

This breakthrough homewear is made with 100% pure cotton for comfort and breathability

As the break in between shows was kinda long, Anis and I took the time to feast on the tapas delicacies served for dinner.

Believe me, they were marvellous. Good food should always accompany a good event = a good night to remember!

With the chef!

The main tapas food were served ala buffet style; and with dishes as mouth watering as these, it's hard to stop at one bite.

You'll see why as you scroll down. I'lll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Whilst eating, I bumped into Winnie!

It has been quite a while since we last saw each other so we did a little catching up πŸ˜€

She looked ravishing in her black sheer laced dress

The fashion show soon picked up where it left off and ended with a big bang of a masquerade fiesta

Dressed in elaborate Victorian styles, the models took to the stage and stole everyone's attention

A marvellous lingerie fashion show. Job well done! Kudos

Also, I found it to be a very bright idea that this masquerade event was held at Favola.

Just check out the walls!

Bright shiny masks!

Speaking of interior decor, there were Italian scriptures written on the ceilings at every section of the corridor

How enigmatic!

I'd like to ink a a scripture on my collar bone too, something that no one comprehends!

And here are the English verses, back-to-back!

Dessert time!

Raise your forks and prepare your sweet tooths!

Just look at the array of delightful sugar rushes.

But no dessert can ever beat my all-time favorite Tiramisu!

Oh look! It's a house specialty too.

Gotta try em fo shure!

Heaven in a tiny glass.

It kept this sweet tooth a very happy girl with a satiated tummy πŸ˜€

Thank you Wacoal for the amazing night of splendour!

Congratulations on hitting the mark of 62 years πŸ˜€

Happy Birthday! It was celebrated in much class and style indeed
