Culture speaks

August 15, 2007 by thejessicat

Culture had never really been my kinda thing. I’m more for an open culture… with values of course. My culture, to me, is a significant thing. One that holds your identity, morales and where you belong.

And through Jesus, I’m exposed to a culture which I had never came across in real life before. The Korean culture.

What do I know about the Koreans? They create serials after serials of dramas on television that people are crazy about. They have either ultra cute hunks and mega pretty chicks for us to ogle over. Oh, and their dramas make people cry. Political wise, they have a South Korea which I reckon is really pretty, and a North Korea which is made up of communists. Period.

See how little I know about them? haha. And no, I’m not embarrassed to mention. Well, how much do YOU know about the Brazillian culture? If u answer their Brazilian Wax methods, I’m so gonna slap you silly. =)

Anyway, there was this Christianity thing going on in my campus foyer and Alvin, Daniel, Janine and I joined the crowd as an audience. The invited guests were none other than youths from Korea. Through them I was in awe of their (cute) traditional culture. It was simply adorable. I didn’t know they had such a bell dance, traditional umbrella-ish costumes that made you look pregnant or fat. There’s so much more to share! Haha.

Here’s a picture at the end of the event:

Pictures of my dresses that I owe ya!

whoops sorry!

After so much mentioning of dresses, I totally forgot to upload them up till Andrea made me recall them. Here they are:

The SUB dress

The Psychedelic motif dress

The off-shoulder retro dress (come cha-cha with me!)

Haha. Just being a gurl.

The beadzone showcase was a fabulously new experience and entirely eye-opening to me. Finally, I gave in to what everybody has been encouraging me to; enter the modeling industry.

Not that it was the event of my life, but hey, it’s worth a start and a start well worth it. =) My confidence soared and I realised that I wasn’t a bundle of nerves as I thought I would be. Gosh, I adore the camera and I’m pretty sure most people would know by my Friendster page and blog by now. Exuding confidence and being the closest epitome possible to inside-out beauty with brains will always be something I’d be working well to achieve. Ahaha.. baby steps first!

Let the show begin!

My supposed partners for the catwalk—

Which turned out into a threesome instead!
Haha.. oh boy, ain’t you lucky to “own” two lovely ladies all to yourself when everyone else has only one?

The casual wear part – dang, forgot the Beadzone accessories!

Alls well, ends well!

Yepyep, the bevy of ladies. Oh, btw the lovely lady beside me is my bestie Stephanie! She’s the one with the crown from her previous pageant… all the dudes out there get ready!! She’s single now! (I’m doing you a favour pal, it’s unpaid advertisement =P)

Though tiring, it was fun nonetheless

The corporate lady is in the house!

June 15, 2007 by thejessicat

ohhhhhhh myyyyyyyy goooooooodnesssss

 How can I miss telling ya’ll about my new, and not to mention first job?

 It’s cool, awesome and tiring but nevertheless, I’m lovin’ it! Oh, before it slips my mind, I now work at
G2000; the store that sells professional and corporate attire. You know, those suits, blazers, blouses and whatnot?  Yeah, that one.

On my first day, I befriended a colleague- Waiz Cheang.

Lol. he looks so goodie-two-shoes, ain’t it?

He’s great, taught me everything (well, almost) I needed to know about how things go and how things are like in G2000. Stuff like promotions, display techniques, sizes, stocks and so on and so forth. He said I was good and
pick up things fast (ahem ahem)

Febrie & I playin around while Mingtatt & Waiz busy at work. oops.

Days passed and so did my working hours. I learned so much and even naturally remembered the
colour codes for all the sizes which I tried (but failed) so hard to memorize on my first day. Now, it’s at my fingertips. *wee hoo!* I now know how to iron and fold the clothes in a special way. It sucks that certain shirts and blazers have certain ways of being folded… and certain blouses should be hung with the velvety hanger. And not forgetting ties.

I hate them.

They have to be rolled on in such a comical manner that it just keeps slipping off. I’m now officially deft at attaching the censor tags and removing them- hey, it’s not easy! Every different garment has a different way and different place of pinning them. I think the only thing I haven’t learned is how to alter pants. *Gasp* Even my boss has difficulty in doing that.

The best part is, serving and attending to the customers. As a people-person, I’ve learnt the art of observing and understanding better about consumer behaviour. Different antics of unsimilar people from different social classes of the hierarchy too.It’s sorta like a stepping stone for me; a learning and building process. I ain’t just taking this job for the cold hard cash. It’s to pass my time in a fruitful and productive way, in the mall!!! *lol* Being the mall rat I am. =P

HAd so much silly fun & camwhoring during work! Now dear ol’ Ivan has joined me at my workplace as well. Yay!

Posing & laughin ourselves silly & oh lookie, is that a kryptonite behind him? =)

So, three cheers for my new job! Heck, I’ll be sticking around for quite a while. Reason being
, MY JOB ROCKS YOUR GRANDMOTHER’S SOCKS!

Oh, and for quick reference, here’s something I’d like to share with all of you:

Gents
14 1/2 = XS
15       =   S
15 1/2 =  M
16        =  L
16 1/2  = XL
17        = XXL

and they vary in sleeve lengths too.

Ladies
0 = 3 = 34 =  XS
1 = 5  = 36 =  S
2 = 7  = 38 =  M
3 =  9  = 40 =  L
4 = 11 = 42 = XL
5 = 13 = 44 = XXL

Generally, women are more complicated than men. That explains why their sizes are so as well. =)

Anyway, I hope yall out there won’t be confused again since I’ve SO GENEROUSLY shared and translated the Europe, American, and Italian sizes into the usual – extra small, small, medium, large and extra large. Good luck shopping!

Oooohhh.. that feels good

May 16, 2007 by thejessicat

We went to Danai Spa! We went to Danai Spa!

That’s Nads feet getting a pedicure                              And that’s my nails getting done!

The massage feels ssso good on our tired and stressed muscles.. I felt so pampered; like an Egyptian queen soaking in an aromatherapy oil baths with rose petals all over. We even went to do our nails! Since I’m always known to be a black, white, red and pink person, it just crossed my mind to choose a different colour – resulting in me choosing purple! Haha.. what else do you want me to put? Yellow? Orange? Green? No way, Jose. Ha ha.

How does it look? Rather different on me, for a change.

Oh, and for dinner I ate Caesar Salad with smoked salmon! Yummy yummy unlike you Nadiah, unhealthy and OILY and fattening dinner. Haha, but I do have to admit that yours was good- sinfully good, of course.
