The Sunday Times XXV: Sights, sounds, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

May 26, 2013 by thejessicat

Thanks to Wesak Day being a public holiday, I’m back in Penang now for the long weekend!

One of the best things about living in Malaysia is the insane amount of public holidays we have, I swear.

It’s so awesome that it’s ridiculous.

Our public holidays consist of holidays at national & state levels, royal installations, birthdays of the who’s who in our governing body, religious purposes and the fact that we comprise several different races would mean Malaysians observe almost every festive occasion there is to celebrate.

Holidays can only spell more fun times out and about! laugh

Cuti awam, cuti umum, semua cuti pun kiterang sapu! Macam tiap2 hari ade cuti. Seronok giler!

It's crazy I know but hey, I'm not complaining! laugh

My purpose of returning to Penang this time was to visit and spend quality time with my family.

In the afternoon, we adjourned for some Japanese food, shopping and coffee. heart

Just the weekend outfit of the day

Candid of my holding granny's hand. Priceless photograph. heart

Hello from Sakae Sushi, Queensbay Mall! laugh

Coffee sesh with the family

(Pardon the coincidental blinking by two people)

Had coffee right after

Uncle Mikey and I

At night, we were booked in for a nice Chinese banquet dinner at Jade Blosson Restaurant at Krystal Point. This is to celebrate the homecoming of one of my favorite cousins, Kevin, who came back to visit from Los Angeles, with his newly-built family. laugh

Couzzie Kevin and I

(P/S: He doesn't have sleepy eyes, just wasn't looking into the camera lens LOL)

As far as I can remember, I’ve never exactly been too fond of children and babies. indecision

I just don’t fathom how everybody finds them so amusing – give me cats anytime. They’re far more affectionate and entertaining.

Can't believe I'm an aunt already! surprise

Tonight, I held a toddler for the first time. He wriggled initially and I freaked out, but we eventually got along just fine. I was just happy I didn’t drop the kid. yes

Photographic evidence that I ain't too shabby with children perhaps? cheeky

Say hello to my 2 year old nephew. The very charming little one – Caleb.

How cute is he? Adorable beyond words! heart

I think we are naturally gifted at posing for photographs HAHAHA

Dinner ensued at last, and more merriment soon followed.

This was what we were served in our eight course dinner. (Photos aren't too pretty this time – sorry!)

To my surprise, my family didn’t fancy the food at all. LOL I think granny's expression says it all

I had no complaints, though.

What really left an impression were my two favorites, the Steamed Herbal Chicken and the Peking Duck.

The chicken was incredibly tender; bursting with a hint of Chinese herbal essences with each bite. The duck was tastefully done. It was so aromatic and flavorful; cooked to just the right texture – not too soft nor too chewy.yes

I was helping myself to them both one after another uncontrollably. cheeky

The interior

The rest? Well… it wasn’t bad neither was it exceptionally good either.

I’d say it is just your average Chinese dinner fare.

The very next day, I made plans with Kevin and his lovely wife Rachel (whom I clicked with very well!) to spend some time together for an afternoon of lunch and coffee. heart

You know, being cousins, it’ll be nice to do some cousin-to-cousin catching up and bonding sans the entire family.

Saturday outfit of the day

We went to my favorite restaurant in Queensbay Mall to have lunch.

It was T.G.I Friday’s! laugh Here's some of the food we had:

Jack Championship BBQ Beef Ribs

★★★★✩

Baked Potato Skins with Bacon & Cheese

[No ratings because I didn’t have any – but they seemed to like it!]

Baked Stuffed Mushrooms

★★★★✩

We didn't want to leave just yet – too engrossed in our world of conversations!

Coffee was at Old Town White Coffee, Queensbay Mall.

I never regretted making plans with them that afternoon.

There was so much catching up to do with Kevin, while Rachel and I got to know each other better. We talked, we ate, we laughed the afternoon away. I foresee myself jet-setting to Los Angeles sometime next year! 😀

Have a safe flight back to the US of A, guys! kiss

Being back in Penang for the long weekend, I wouldn’t miss a chance to party on my beloved island.

Especially when my bestest buddies are around with me! heart

The night was Richard Durand presented by Twelve XII, QEII On the Sea and Heineken.

Partied with my fave Penang buddies! devil

He played, in equal parts, uplifting trance as well as progressive trance. His remixes were wicked! yes

Thanks to Sam for the help, I got to take a photo with world #89 Richard Durand himself.

After a hectic Thursday night, Saturday night was another night of partying.

It was Hennessy Artistry Penang!

Suffered a very, very bad hairday so I decided to tie all my hair up for the night

I was surprised when I got told numerous times that I looked nice with my hair done up. surprise

Hennessy Artistry Penang was amazing, as usual.

It was fantastic being able to catch up and party with some of my favorite Penang friends again, as well as my buddies from KL.

The interior was magnificent!

May 25, 2013 | Thank you @HennessyMY for another great #party! I had a great time ❤ #hennessyartistry #penang by imthejessicat on Keek.com

More in another blog post.

Oh and… I got myself a new tattoo (again). laugh

One every year since the year 2007 and counting!

Remember the one that I sketched on my shoulder with markers?

Part of it came to life.

More in a full blog post soon.

Clearly, I had a great weekend. But what’s been happening earlier in the week?

Gym, as usual. Decided to switch my routines to more interval and circuit ones for maximum efficiency.

Had time in between sets to steal a piccie

Weights. This is for the abductors and adductors

Barbells are my favorite

And so is the spinning/RPM sessions!

What else? Been cooking. A whole lot.

Here are some pictures of my post-workout meals to make you hungry hehe cheeky

Hardboiled omega eggs with sliced tomatoes, tuna chunks,

cottage cheese and lettuce on wholewheat toast

Fluffy giant salmlon omelette and sides of garlic,

stir-fried organic pea-sprouts in olive oil and kidney beans

Platter of four: Grilled Shitake mushrooms and tomatoes, boiled carrots and steamed broccoli

Pan-fried brown rice in olive oil, eggs, kidney beans, organic peasprouts

with lots of garlic, quinoa, basil and black pepper!

treasure pocket of brown rice baked in ricotta cheese & garlic, salmon, green & yellow zucchini,

baby carrots, pea sprouts and egg with a dash of quinoa seeds & black pepper!

Also been having sleepless nights. (Don’t ask why)

The things you do when you can't sleep.

My week also saw me going to Publika for the very first time.

I KNOW, I KNOW. DON'T CHIDE ME. Yes, believe it or not I have not been there ever. Well, I just had no specific reason of being there neither did I make the effort to drive there to check the place out or make any plans there. sad

But that night, thanks to my buddies, plans were made at Publika!

We went to The Red Beanbag for dinner and drinkies at Barfly after.

Wednesday night with my girls and the rest (not pictured)

Desserts after dinner at The Red Beanbag

More in a full post soon!

Had also been shopping at fashion bazaars!

The most recent one was the Markets @ Jaya One fashion flea marketheart

Girls day out. En route for shopping and lunchie! devil

We bought lots of pretty pieces. I think I ended up with a few dresses, tops and skirts.

Photo credits to Ning. Thanks girl! xo

Random, irrrelevant photo of my cat being confused as to why his picture is taken

Caught my sleeping child on the table LOL devil

I woke up one day to find that my black kitty has turned snow-white.

LOL kidding.

Last weekend was also BestiePam’s birthday!

It was a house-party at her crib and the theme was supposedly ‘Pyjama Party’ but I was the only guest who showed up in pyjamas. Grr. cryingcrying

Fell in love with Rama's bunny slippers at the party and kept wearing it.

How can anyone not love this giant, fluffy thing? heart

Random photo of the other half and I during her party

We played the classic Kings Cup!

Watched them down Jagermeister trains! It's cooler than regular Jagerbombs methinks.

Happy birthday Pammy, I enjoyed the party! Hope you liked the birthday present I got you smiley

Later that week, I was invited to a Star Trek Into the Darkness movie screening in Cathay Cineplex thanks to TalkFILM.

Never one to be into science-fiction action movies, I found myself scratching my head in dismay for the most part of the movie.

Admittedly, I have never watched any of the previous Star Trek movies and I stand completely at polar ends of being a trekkie. blush

From a complete trekkie-noob standpoint, I found Spock rather peculiar-looking.

Oh and I could't help but to tune out without realizing and found myself organizing my schedule for the coming week on my PDA. Despite trying my level best, my attention span for this movie was next to nothing. I wasn’t even paying any attention half the time. I felt bad but ultimately felt better when I heard some snoring coming from the back of my seat.

Looks like it isn’t just me who found this movie utterly boring, eh? blush

May 16, 2013 | Just got back from the movie screening of Star Trek Into Darkness! Go watch it!

Give me back Star Wars anytime.

Perhaps I would appreciate Star Trek better if I had a better comprehension of it, though I enjoyed watching Captain Kirk in action. I thought he was rather hot.

After the movie!

One afternoon, I found a pretty ingenious way of eating my favorite Secret Recipe cake, the White Dark Chocolate Cheesecake.

Though it may gross some of you out, I figured that I am going to share it regardless.

So this was what I did.

I cut off a spoonful of cake and dipped it into my cup of Flat White coffee for a few seconds before lifting it up and putting it straight into my mouth. devil

Having white chocolate, dark chocolate and cheese mulled together into a cake is good enough, now with a touch of coffee-flavour? I’m a genius! LOL.

Sedap giler, percaye aku tak? Cube sendiri pastu habaq kat i camne okey? Haha.

Jokes aside, I loved how it tasted.heart

Dipping it into hot coffee made the crumbly chocolate half at the bottom disintegrate with moist, producing a wonderful melt-in-your-mouth texture.

And the cake wasn’t cold anymore, obviously. Not that I minded having it served cold – this was just so much better! Try it… and tell me what you think!

So there you have it, a wrap-up of my busy fortnight.

Have a good week ahead, folks. Make every single day count! laugh

Much love,

kissJessicat

Blu Med Ristorante e Bar Mediterranean + Italian Restaurant @ The Boulevard, Mid Valley City

May 23, 2013 by thejessicat

Early this year, when construction sounds could still be heard coming from the insides and floor-to-ceiling boards still shielded the entrance, I received an invitation for a food tasting session; to sample a menu during an exclusive media preview of a brand new restaurant.

The restaurant was Blu Med Ristoranre e Bar, a new Mediterranean and Italian Restaurant.

Brought my other half along with me – I could use a

Mediterraneanite to assist me in reviewing Mediterranean food!

Since the restaurant was not even open, we had to enter the premises via a side/corner entrance which led us to a staircase directly up to the 2nd floor.

The boards blocked all public access to the restaurant.

Standing by the 'OPENING SOON' boards at the entrance!

In the invitation, I was told that the menu at Blu Med was produced and consulted by Chef Yasuhiro Sasajima, of Iron Chef fame. Having watched the Iron Chef program on television , I was naturally excited that I will be savouring a menu directed by the talented chef himself!laugh

Chef Sasajima broke out of the realms of traditional Japanese cuisine and started his love affair with Italian cuisine, marrying the two together to cook up a fine fusion of meals from his kitchen.

Chef Yasuhiro Sasajima

Jia anda tidak kenal nama 'Chef Sasajima', dia merupakan antara salah satu daripada tukang-tukang masak yang paling terkenal di dunia! yes

I was looking forward to tasting his unique and distinctive Italian cuisine with a Japanese twist so much.

Upon arriving at the 2nd floor, I was greeted to interior decorations befitting a minimalistic concept.

It was brightly lit with incandescent spotlights, boasted cosy wooden and brick-wall ambiance, spacious and splashed with warm, earthly colours comprising shades of brown, white with a touch of blue.

Part of the upper dining area deck (2nd floor)

I exchanged a few words with the friendly managers present.

After being ushered to our seats, we sat at our table in anticipation for what the evening had to offer.

The waiters began to pour some wine for us.

We were served the Luis Felipe Edwards Cabernet Sauvignon

I have always been a white wine kind of girl. cool

While my buddies had red wine, I opted for white wine instead:

Luis Felipe Edwards Sauvignon Blanc was my pick

Us at the table before our meals arrived  smiley

The Executive Director of Blu Med explaining the concept of the restaurant and the food

The first dish on our table was the appetitzer of Buffalo Mozzarella and Plum Tomato "Caprese".

The buffalo mozzarella, which is typically used in Italian dishes and less rubbery than usual mozzarella, was moist and had a mild piquancy – slightly tasteless, but well paired with the mint sauce drizzled around the dish (which doubles as good presentation too!).

Buffalo Mozzarella and Plum Tomato "Caprese"

For purists, this is made out of curd cheese using pure buffalo milk.

The locally sourced tomatoes and lettuce sprinkled with olive oil, basil oil and vinegar upped its initially bland flavour and hit the concept of freshness in mediterranean food right on the bull's eye.

The second dish that was placed before us was the Carpaccio of Hirame with Wild Rice and Soft Aubergine.

The first thing I did was to look for the aubergine. I couldn't see it at all! Did they give my plate a miss? I soon found out that the soft, "mashed" aubergine was hidden underneath the Hirame.smiley That was my favorite of the night.

Carpaccio of Hirame with Wild Rice and Soft Aubergine

The wild rice reminded me of risotto, but slightly grainer and nutty in comparison. When mixed with the relatively moist and "grassy" taste of the alfafa sprouts, it amassed a rather odd but not unpleasant flavour – definitely an acquired taste.

The Hirame, a popular type of white flesh fish used in Japanese cuisines (see how the fusion of Italian and Japanese influences is depicted now?) was fresh and served cold, just like sashimi.

Then came along our mains.

The third dish to arrive was Spaghetti Tomato Sauce with Sea Bass and Grilled Vegetables.

We were told that the pasta sauce was made from real tomatoes, and not the ones out of cans nor puree versions.

A block of Parmesan cheese was grated to our desired amount, as toppings for the pasta

The cheese added a light but sharp flavour to the pasta, making it a very good choice for garnishing.

We could clearly see how its sauce wasn't the ones right out of the can.

I found this dish slightly watered down and tasteless, but then again, it was justifiable, as they only used fresh ingredients and we all know how fresh tomatoes holds a high water content. Good or bad? I'll leave you to decide.

Spaghetti Tomato Sauce with Sea Bass and Grilled Vegetables

It also had minimal seasoning; giving way to the natural flavours of tomato, sea bass and its side of grilled vegetables. This dish was fresh, light and had a oceanic and "fishy' flavour to it.

This dish was pretty standard, nothing to shout about especially to people who are more familiar with, or prefer their pasta with strong, heavy flavours. It does has its strengths and weaknesses, whatever suits your palate! smiley

Being sweet tooths, Shin Yee and I were only looking forward to the desserts after that.

Hopefully, our moods and appetites would take a positive turn once it arrives.

Selfshots of us! heart

And finally, our desserts arrived! smiley

The final dish that we got to taste was the Espresso Pannacotta.

But being a culinary aficionado myself, I do understand that the most difficult part of making the perfect Panna cotta is mixing the right ratio and achieving the right texture – soft, but firm enough to hold it together, with a gentle wobble only when moved.

Espresso Panna cotta

Though pretty in presentation, I must say that the texture of the Panna cotta was slightly dissapointing as it was too jelly-like, stiff and rubbery. I much prefer my Panna cotta to be the usual, softly set, creamier ones with silkier pudding-like consistency.

Apart from that, I loved the rich taste of this typical Italian dessert – especially this one as it is infused with Espresso! yes

It gave me a smooth mouthful, albeit not a melt-in-the-mouth texture. Still tasted delicious, though. The berries and almonds were a great touch too.

After dinner, the other half and I decided to roam about the second floor to explore beyond our dining table. angel

I loved how the upper deck overlooks the first floor (ground floor) dining area. Suh-weeeet!

Apabila berdiri pada tingkat atas, rasanye seperti si puteri melihat ke aras bawah pada himpunan para warganegaranye, tahu? Hahaha.

The other end of the dining area

The cutlery, wine and glass counter beside the entrance of the second floor

One of the two private rooms for private functions/dinners

Took more swigs of the exquisite Savignon Blanc frown

Can't ever get enough of white wine. Ever!

My favorite glass of  white wine and I kiss

How can anyone not love the setting and the ambiance of this restaurant? heart

Here are some after-dinner photos with some of the rest who were there as well.

As I headed to Mid Valley Megamall to attend an event a few days ago, I spotted the elaborately furnished and fully finished Blu Med Restaurant from a distance!

Needless to say, I made my way there to admire the completed version of the premises.laugh

Remember the entrance? I had to enter the outlet via a tiny opening at the corner.

Now, the grand entrance looks like this. Holy mama! WOW.

As mentioned earlier, Blu Med is divided into two separate levels.

The restaurant features a trendy cool and modern environment with touches of comfort on the lower floor and luxury on the upper floor – where we dined.

Patrons entering the restaurant will be greeted by an imposing floor to ceiling wall of candles separating the bar and the restaurant area, and a very high verticle garden cascading from the wall (beside the staircase) completed with two large chandeliers made of glass bottles, specially designed for Blu Med.

Remember these unfinished chandeliers wrapped up in black plastic?

Now it has transformed into dazzling glass bottles hung from the ceiling!

Blu Med, nestled amidst the bustling centre of The Boulevard in Mid Valley City, Blu Med clearly presents a perfect and modern-classy destination for both casual and fine dining diners around town.

As this restaurant is located in a prime setting right smack in between two popular malls – Mid Valley Megamall and The Gardens, I find it a very convenient place to pop by to have lunch, dinners or at any time of the day.

This restaurant's last orders are at 10.30pm (and opens till midnight) so you know where to go for some bites or drinks when the mall has shut wink

Remember these boards covering the entire corner alfresco section?

Now. Boy, I'd love to sit there for some food and wine while enjoying the breeze!

As dissatisfied as I was, something tells me that tonight definitely cannot represent one's dining experience at Blu Med.

I'm certain that this glamorous, posh restaurant with such a brilliant concept cannot be as inadequate as what I had experienced during tonight's media preview session. After all, this lovely restaurant was far from ready, and I can only assume as much for the unfully-equipped kitchen and the simplified menu we had tonight as well.

One thing's for sure, I'll be back very soon to give this restaurant another chance. smiley

Perhaps for a date, maybe? heart

Don't believe me? Well, check out the following two photos! wink

It even tucks behind my ears…

…and my beneath my chin/top of neck! Pretty neat, huh? It's something new to me! yes

Raving to Shogun and B.T at Global Sound System! | Music Conference Asia 2013 @ Sepang

May 18, 2013 by thejessicat

That Saturday was a superbly busy one for me!

Thanks to Global Sound Masters, I found myself speeding down the highway to attend Global Sound System all the way in Sepang International Circuit, right after another event (more about that later).

Safely arrived at Global Sound System in Sepang.

Thank you Nelson, for getting us there safely! heart

This what what I saw from the afar as I was entering the party zone. Wait for me!

Managed to snap a quick photo and immediately ran to the front to be part of the rave!

I was so upset that I missed the earlier acts, as I arrived rather late. frown

Dahla tu, sampai lambat sangat! crying

Was looking forward to watch them spin so much. This was what I missed:

Mr. Nasty & GuruGuru

Judge Jules

Felix Da Housecat

Alex Kenji

Fortunately, I managed to catch two of my favorites, Shogun and B.T perform alongside the host of the night, MC Stretch. laughlaugh

With these powerhouses, I have no doubts that the remaining hours I have left of the night will be blast!

It was a hive of activity and a psychedelic dance arena in there!

The Global Sound System music festival was deemed a success with big support and attendance coming from both true blue music enthusiasts and party goers alike.

You know how we electronic dance music party punters are like – to never miss a rave! cool

The energy brimming from both the DJs and the crowd was spectacular!

Over 5000 revellers filled the mosh pit and all corners of the party zone to catch the stellar mix of international talents of electronic dance music. I was no exception.

Hurriedly, I went down into the mosh pit to let my hair down and go absolutely beserk riding the waves of progressive music that was blasting from the larger-than-life sized speakers! devil

The ever-so-amazing Shogun!

Shogun, a popular Asian American DJ-Producer of Armin Van Buuren's Armada Music record-label fame, turned up my party dial the very moment I amalgamated with my fellow ravers into the mosh pit – right in front of the stage!

As a ardent fan of Shogun's tracks, I was always hoping that he would come to Malaysia to perform, and guess what? Global Sound Masters made my wish come true. wink

Shogun slamming bass-jacking tracks for the night

The legendary music maestro definitely did not disappoint as he spewed an incredibly extensive set of progressive as well as uplifting trance beats.

I found myself singing along to the vocal tracks and furiously fist-pumping the sky when the beat warped a notch heavier. cool

Clearly, we were in a world of our own raving to Shogun's music

Despite raving on the dance floor till the skies come down, I made my way back to the VIP deck to party there with my buddies as well.

Here are some photos of me and two of my girlfriends! kiss

Yuki and I

Take two.

They say the third time is a charm smiley

Sam and I with our Asahi cans

Zana and I stayed in a corner when the boys began to pour beer onto each other's head

Yikes! Count us out of that! surprise

The crowd showed no signs of stopping even after hours of mad raving!

Right after Shogun, B.T took to the decks and showed us what he was made of.

As if the party couldn't get any heavier! We welcomed B.T on stage with roars of cheers and whistles cool

Helllllllllloooo Brian Transeau

The highly reputable Grammy-nominated music producer, platinum-selling artist, film composer and technologist Brian Transeau (B.T) wasted no time in delivering wicked tracks and addictive beats.

His big sounds boomed tonight's party scene to the next level! yes

B.T's electronica dance-floor destroyers got the crowd raving like there was no tomorrow.

His set included my favorite track of his, 'This Must Be The Love', a fine collaboration with Arty and Nadia Ali.

Look at him go! heart

Lihatlah kehandalannya. Hebat sungguh BT nih!

Somewhere on the center-left, was where I am. If you can spot me, I applaud your eyesight! yes

Actually, don't even try cheeky It's an impossible feat when we look like grains of sugar on the screen.

Take a look at B.T himself instead

His tracks transcended the dance floor all the way to the VIP deck where my buddies and I were.

Sometime into the night, I think the drinks began to do the talking.

Yup, affirmative. Crazy times with my buddies ensued, made even better with endless flow of Asahi Beer.

B.T was still taking on the night in full swing! cool

The motion of the laser beams spun faster than all our heartbeats combined!

Just Sam pouring Asahi beer onto my hair. Yeah, thanks angry

Malam tu, i kena basuh rambut kuat-kuat tau? Semua habis berlekatan dengan bir! angryangry

I wasn't the only one! crying

Throughout the entire night, Global Sound System featured a very recognizable and special guest, MC Stretch to catapult the party scene to levels of infinity and beyond!

If his name doesn't ring a bell, I'm pretty sure you would have heard his VOICE.

Nada suaranya yang mengagumkan dan kebolehannya sebagai pengacara pasti

meninggalkan kesan pada hati-hati kita yang terlibat dalam kemeriahan ini! heart

Magisterial, loud, authoritative and clear voice at music festivals of international fame? wink

Yup, it was the voice of MC Stretch that boomed throughout the entire rave of the famed Tomorrowland 2012 in Belgium, Armin Van Buuren's Armin Only World Tour and countless dance music festivals around the globe.

Hearing his voice at Global Sound System made me feel like I've traversed oceans to party in Europe's world-class rave parties!

Don't know how; don't know why. But he just has this effect on me. wink

Thanks to my buddies and Define, I also got to party at the DEFINE VIP deck. heart

Like you have saw earlier in this post, we were treated to free-flow of Asahi and a perfect, elevated view of the stage and crowd!

Here are some photos:

That Saturday spelled an exciting one for me. devil

Good drinks, good company of friends, great music and great line-up! We sure had a lot of fun dancing, headbanging and partying our weekend away.

Don't stop the music just yet! The night was still young.

To see how epic the night was, check out Global Sound System's official after-movie!

The very same organizers will also be bringing down one of my favorite Trance producers and World #7 DJ Dash Berlin, to crank up the rave party scene for us here in Malaysia!

I've watched Dash Berlin twice, but I've still not gotten enough of him just yet.

This Dutch DJ is amazing with vocal trance, uplifting trance and infectious progressive trance beats too. My favorites from him include 'Better Half of Me' and 'Disarm Yourself'.

His world tour is certainly something you shouldn't miss. Make sure I see you there! devil

I had a kick-ass time that night. Thank you Global Sound Masters!

Looking forward to the next rave cool  Pergi, faham? Jangan tak pergi! laugh

REEBONZ – Unveil the Surprise! Luxury brands at great deals

May 15, 2013 by thejessicat

Look, we all gotta admit.

While we girls might drool over the latest collection of Balenciaga’s shoulder bags, Burberry’s latest hobos or that classic Chanel quilted lambskin handbag sitting prettily in a display window…

OR

fixate our eyes on someone carrying the latest Celine trapeze totes, Prada’s latest caviars or Longchamp Paris latest bags….

Most of us do not fancy blowing our two month’s (or three!) paycheque just for a luxury bag.

After all, like our male counterparts always say, it is “just a handbag”. LOL

I’m sorry, what? No, it is NOT JUST A HANDBAG.

I’d prefer to take it as an extension of one’s personality and class wink Teehee!

Anyway, as I was saying about the exorbitant prices, this is the sole reason why I rarely buy my luxury items from shopping malls or boutiques.

They always shoot the prices up like a rocket launcher, to cover things like the costs of mass import taxes, store rental space and of course, to make profit per each sale.

Guess who’s going to have to fork out that extra money?

YOU YOURSELF. Siapa lagi, kan? frown

No, thank you. I certainly refuse to pay higher than the original price of the bag itself.

Why should you, right? Be a smart spender and every inch of a smart buyer!

Why would you pay more, for the exact same genuine thing that you can pay less for? Duh!

Which is why my luxury bags have always been directly shipped over from the respective brands in various parts of Europe or the UK to my doorstep or to brand representatives based here.

Alternatively, I have also sought help from my friends returning from their overseas vacations.to bring me back one if their luggage space permits.smiley

Anyway, for the relevance of this feature, I will be showing you only four from my collection.

Sorry I don’t have photos of all of them! I have never blogged about any of my bags as I don’t exactly see the need to.

Maybe I’ll just talk about my eyebags instead.frown

Why, do you really wanna announce to the whole world of your buying a bag with a price that can feed a continent of starving children? cheekycheeky HAHA.

Gurau je. I was kidding, but you get my point, right?

Anyway, I managed to find some photos of myself holding them smiley

My Burberry Supernova and I

My Prada Tessuto and I

My Gucci Boston and I

My Burberry Supernova Hearts and I

Anyway, it was so much trouble getting them shipped over… and waiting for it took forever ugh.

But you don’t have to go through such a tedious process like me, for we now have Reebonz!

While I have written an advertorial feature for Reebonz back in 2009, so much have changed since then!

So here I am, sharing the wonders of Reebonz again.

So, the entire concept of Reebonz is to transport you into a world of pleasant surprises – a place where discounted luxury is not an oxymoron! yes

Reebonz only sells 100% authentic designer brands. cool

It also provides a 0% Installment Payment Plan available from 8 banks and observes fast and efficient delivery of your items purchased online.

Overall, from my experience, they have a pretty brilliant service.

I’ve worked with them 4 years ago and I do have friends who purchase from them on a regular basis.

Once you have successfully bought your dream bag, all you have to do next is just to wait for your order to be delivered in the Reebonz luxurious black box wrapped around with its signature gold ribbon.

Oh, since it’s so pretty, you can even get it as a gift for that special someone too! laugh

They’re not only limited to handbags, they have other luxury label items and accessories like apparel, watches, wallets and other accessories if you browse through their website.

Also, while most of us prefer buying brand new luxury bags, Reebonz also caters to the ones who can only afford or chooses to pay a lot less and don’t mind carrying a second hand/pre-loved luxury bag.
