What Valentines REALLY means to me this year.

February 13, 2014 by thejessicat

Hi there everyone.

I know I’ve been missing in action for a while, and by disappearing, I speak not of the commercialized content or ads I write, but rather the personal, heartfelt updates and penning my thoughts – or lack thereof – here in my own blog.

If you must know, I’ve been experiencing a roller-coaster ride of emotions and a turmoil of sorts for the past month. Allow me that time of self-reflection. I think is this the part where self-conflicts help you find yourself.

Oh and I recently had my iPhone stolen so that wasn’t very nice either.

But I’ll get to where I left of (in December, I know!), I promise.

It was a beautiful coincidence how I decided to withdraw myself into the comfort and solace of my own bedroom at home tonight for once but brimming with so much love once I finished watching  Disney’s latest animated movie – Frozen.

There’s something about enjoying the simple pleasures of solitude all wrapped up under your duvet.

It’s strange how I don’t feel forlorn, isolated nor lonely when the clock has just struck midnight on Valentine’s Day.

All because there is this (often overlooked) thing which we all ought to appreciate. It is called the ‘me time’, where you focus on you and nothing but you. Laughing

I’ve always been a Disney girl at heart. I know all the characters by name and can even sing all the  soundtracks for you in a heartbeat.

Disney’s Frozen has taught and reminded me of not one, but two very important things:

1. Love is celebrated and felt by ALL who loves you unconditionally and accepts you for who you are, no matter the distance, shortcomings nor weaknesses.

Think sisterly/sibling love, maternal and paternal love, the love you feel amongst your tightest circle of friends, the guiding love for your pets, the love and respect you have for your bosses/superiors or teachers/lecturers (for those of you still in school), your colleagues, and so on.

2. Love is about sacrifice, care, putting someone else and his/her needs above yours, and doing all you can just to see that person happy.

If I truly loved that person, I’d revel in delight just to see him smile. After all, he is my world and all that’s in it. And every little thing he does just lights my day like a candle in the dark. It’s a beautiful thing to feel. You’d just glow throughout the day like a silly little girl.

I know exactly how that feels like. Smile

Being in love makes me smile. And this girl would do anything for the one she adores.

Like you have, I’ve been in love before too. Call me stupid but when I love, I do everything in my capacity for that one special someone. Love is a many splendid thing and although it’s something I truly bask in, I am now afraid. Frown

Afraid to open my heart again, afraid to fall in love again, and afraid to give my heart to anyone again – only to be hurt once more.

Frankly, I realized it didn’t bother me at all if I were to spend Valentine’s Day alone when every couple in the whole wide world is celebrating the overrated occasion that is February 14th. I actually thought I’d be alone this year on Valentine’s Day doing what I love most, training and working out in the gym.

Out of the blue, someone whom I met several days ago in the gym told he had a massive crush on me for a couple of weeks now.

Wow. I didn’t see that coming. I’ve always thought I looked like a total sweaty anti-social nut hammering it out alone in the gym ignoring every guy in the free-weights zone while I do my thing. Never thought anyone would notice me or think that I am, in any way, approachable. Surprised

And guess what? He asked me out tomorrow, on Valentine’s Day. Hmmm.. I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to go? I don’t want to think of it as a date, and it’s probably not, to be honest, as I am (maybe) still not ready to open my heart to anyone else yet.

But a little company tomorrow would be nice.

***

What is love now, anyway?

How is it that love can empower me with such mighty force yet simultaneously render me completely vulnerable? From what I’ve felt before, there’s one thing I can truly vouch for – the one you love is your pillar of strength yet your ultimate weakness, your kryptonite, at the very same time. Embarassed

I’m no love guru, but if it’s another thing I’ve learnt in this journey of love, I’d like to share with you a cardinal rule:

Many a time we expect too much from the one we love, and when he/she falls short, a wave of disappointment sweeps you by storm.

That’s why I’ve placed paramount importance in this to anyone I’ve dated or will date in the future as I’d rather be pleasantly surprised than to be thoroughly disappointed. Wink Why expect anything more when his love is what makes your world go round?

***

Also, what made my Valentine’s eve even sweeter was how a painful absence and distance I felt for another was soothed when we began talking again after a long silence.

That itself made me realize that he still has a place in my heart after all. I believe that once you hold someone dear to you, that’s where he always will be, no matter the circumstances that stands in the way. After all, love isn’t a show or a social construct.

Love is how you feel for that person, whether or not clandestine, and that warmth resonating in you when that fleeting thought of him crosses your mind. Embarassed

I am grateful for the people (that includes all of you) that have graced my life and taught me more and more about what love is about, as well as all the variations of what love can be.

Which is why it’s time for me to step back, be on my own for now without any form of commitment and put myself first. Only true love can thaw this frozen heart.

I’ll share this powerful, thought-provoking song with all of you tonight.

Set your soul free, love yourself and allow February 14th to be a celebration of all the things you love most! Smile1

This goes out especially to my dearest readers, friends and family. I love you all (even the silent readers) and thank you for also loving the blogger behind this blog for the past 9 years. But above all, thank you for growing with me.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all!

It’s the freakin’ weekend!

May 5, 2012 by thejessicat

Hollaaaaa! Hope your weekend is going swell, dear readers

Mine has been hectic but fun thus far! I just returned from a full day at the 'Avengers With Harley' event.

Many thanks to Harley Davidson for inviting me as their guest!

I had a swell time checkin' out and even riding your buncha sexy superbikes. It an was out-of-this-world experience! The private screening of Marvel's The Avenger's with good company & all the bikers was amazing too

More of that in another blogpost!

Random photo : sunny skies ahead!

Oooh and here's a Health & Money tip for today!

Steadfast in my daily routine is lots of gymtime and fresh fruits & vegetables everyday.

My gym essentials

To complement your healthy lifestyle, blend your own fresh fruit juice at home!

Theboyf and I bought a whole lot of fruits & veggies yesterday at the market and it only costed us 6 bucks altogether.

Imagine buying fruit juice from a juice bar – 10 bucks for a blend of only 3 fruits, sugared, watered down and filled with ice.

Nope, not wise at all.

This morning, we had a power combination of 5 types of fruits & 2 veggies

Let's see. Green apples, red apples, oranges, pears, a pineapple, celery sticks & carrots.

100% fresh, pure, concentrated fruit juice including the pulp for only RM6 FOR TWO HUGE GLASSES!

Apart from the labour of cutting & juicing the fruits by ourselves (and rinsing the equipment thereafter) it is a fun thing to do together, I must say!

Upon taking our 1st sip of our homemade fruit juice, we nodded in approval and high-fived each other for a job well done.

Did some juicing with buddy Pamela at home too!

We used a combo of red apples, oranges, carrots & pears 😀

By the way, some of you have been asking me why I haven't been updating much this month.

Now that you've mentioned, it kinda struck me.

Probably 'cos I'm often out and about even more lately that I hardly have the time to sit at my computer anymore.

Apologies! 🙁 You can still catch up with me via my twitter page :D

Promise I'll be updating a whole lot more, aight? 🙂

Oh, and to make up for lost time, here's a back to back of some photos & happenings I've missed out on sharing with you peeps.

Saved a kitten from being crushed in the middle of the road

Speaking of felines, here are a few latest piccies of my furkid, Chivas.

He's such an adorable ball of fluff, 10 months old now 🙂

Just got him neutered!

Was extended an invitation to Werner's @ Changkat Bukit Bintang to attend a launch party jointly organized by Corset Me, Rarablack and Lovely Legs.

They held a sexy corset party – CANDYGIRL – and it was fun trying out their corsets, leggings and other outfits!

The ladies from Corset Me did a live demonstration of the proper & correct way to wear a corset

I've personally never worn an *actual* corset before!

I only own those corset-look-a-like tube tops from Guess, Forever 21 and MNG.

This live demonstration was informational & pretty fun to watch

They then offered to let me try their corsets. I got to choose whichever corset that suits my style the most!

The kind lady-boss of Corset Me – Jaycee – helped me wear it properly. Thanks again!

Before I knew it, I was ushered to the studio area to do a photoshoot with their corset on.

My style was evident tonight – an edgy, rockerchick look with a feminine touch

I picked a black Ed Hardy inspired corset

Felt so jittery throughout the photoshoot!

I've always felt more comfortable being the photographer than being photographed. But I hope I pulled it off!

Mui Victoria and I during the event

Michelle and I just before we left the event!

Two photos : one from my camera & one from hers 🙂

It was a fun and enlightening night. I had a great time!

Attended Carlsberg Where's The Party event

Thanks for the photos, Ed 🙂

Just some photos from ze clan's Christmas potluck party. I made roast! 😀 😀

Again, thanks for the photos Ed!

Brought theboyf back to Penang for the 1st time

Had my Industrial Piercing re-pierced because I didn't like the initial positioning

Went for a double date with my pals!

Some relaxation + shisha with good Iranian food at Shisha Lounge!

Had an amazing & fun-loving valentines!

Exchanged gifts! (More gift-exchange that I forgot to take photos of cos he opened mine real fast)

Had a milkshake phase

Speaking of which, it's been a while since we last had our dose of Milkshake Factory, ey? 😛

Played with food

Ate too much good food

…….. that it's time for a moneydiet

Went to Semenyih for the 1st time to accompany buddy Pam's trip Nottingham University

Photo taken while waiting for her 🙂

Played and experimented with pretty contact lenses!

Clockwise : olive green, ash, brown, violet

Had a random burst of OCD and I started to reorganize my contact lenses

Bought new grey diamond ones! Love how they have sucha strong affinity to the eyeballs

Just so you know, all the contact lenses I'm wearing are plano ones.

Zero power, as I am neither short-sighted nor long-sighted.

But unfortunately, I have very high astigmatism.

Got my eyes checked!

Fell in love with this tiny car with a Union Jack roof!

Also fell in love with this random cloud I saw by the display window in the mall!

Camwhored in the car while waiting in the bubble jet carwash machine!

Attended one of the series of Guinness's St. Patrick's Day celebrations at Jarrod & Rawlins!

Brought along buddy Pam to join in the greeeeeeen Irish fun

Massive retail therapy when I got real moody sometime last month

Pampered my nails – DIY at home! 😀

Random shot via iTouch at KLCC carpark

Random shot via iTouch at The Curve's carpark

Also a random shot, this time in Sunway instead!

Had a scrumptious dinner feast with the Aussiemates at Souled Out

Camwhoring with theboyf with full hopes of getting a nice photo but………

Such is life

Attended the Laura Mercier Spring 2012 Collection & Swatch launch

Had my make up done by the professional make-up artists there!

Met the amazing Jodi Riley, the official, international make-up artist of Laura Mercier

She's so bubbly and full of personality!

Lastly, went back to school with buddy Pam to visit our high school teachers &

eat the famous Char Koay Teow at our canteen!

Surely you must miss your high school food after growing up with it for 11 years of your early life 😛

We certainly did.

That being said, have a good night (or a party night!)

and enjoy your Sunday ahead lovelies!

Lovely pinks everywhere! Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial “Tag Your Love” showcase @ Pavilion KL

April 8, 2012 by thejessicat

Hello! Happy Easter to all

Sorry been haven't updating as often as I usually do! Had been swamped by assignments recently and I'm proud to say I've just submitted them ALL before the deadline. Yaayyyers!

Today, I'm gonna share a really lovely event of which I had the privilege to attend, awhile back.

It was Moët & Chandon's Valentines Day event!

It was held in conjunction with the launch of their new,

limited edition Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial champagne!

I spoke about that pink, stylish, glamorous gift of a bottle here and happy to know that many of you told me you got yourselves one too!

They transformed the concourse of Pavilion into a pretty pink, exclusive, invite-only event area

Love how the Moët carpet just runs through the steps like that

Taken as I was walking closer

Alright, I've arrived! 🙂

This whole section is so pretty!

I brought a plus-one along for the event. Who else but my gurlie? Buddy Pamela 🙂

Pammy & I at the photowall

Remember how I shared the premise behind the campaign's design?

It was inspired by a renown Swedish graffiti artist Andre – known as Monsieur A

He is internationally acclaimed for his passionate graffiti about love

and his signature stick-figure doodle

And oh look! Looks like Monsieur A's doodle found himself a girlfriend during this campaign 😛

Cheers to the celebration of love!

Took a few photos by the photowall with some friends I bumped into during the event:

Will Quah & I

Pammy, myself & PinPin!

Dennis Lau & I

Mikey & I!

We were all served to free-flow of Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial throughout the party.

I loved the light texture and the exquisiteness of the champagne – especially the sweet aftertaste!

Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial basking in all its glory

The event was buzzing with people

The congenial – and so friendly! – waiters kept coming round to fill our glasses 🙂

So delicious

Looking awesome in PINK! 😀

Well, so we did come in accordance to the dress code teehee

Had good fun chatting with buddies Esther, Bok & Pammy over the delightful Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial

Maine & I did some catching up over it too!

This is my first time seeing you dressed in PINK, Simon! 😛

It was oddly cute seeing all my guy friends wearing so much pink in one day.

Some of them shared with me funny stories of coming in pink neckties, pink bowties, pink shirts, pink belt and whatever pink they could possibly ransack from their wardrobes.

Thumbs up! Only REAL MEN are bold enough to wear pink, alright? 😉

We were entertained with a few powerful renditions of love songs

Wonderful!

The place was buzzing with guests!

I took a seat by the comfy couches and fluffy Moët pillows

Taking a short break from all the merriment! 🙂

I took a walk around to the front of the concourse and spotted a huge pile of pink packages

Those Moët & Chandon Rosé Impérial bottles came in abundance that night!

So tempting; almost as if beckoning me. I'd like to bring one of you home with me tonight! 😀

Hmmm.. what should I graffitize and doodle onto this flawless bottle?

Me having what they call an 'Asian Flush'

It is beyond me as to why I turn crimson red even after one glass of anything! So strange.

I would get all flushed and red so quickly! Grr.

Despite being flushed, I couldn't help but to have more of this enticing, flavourful champagne

consisting of 3 grape varieties – Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay

Oh, such love!

I had a great time! Tonight was simply engaging and fun.

It was wonderful catching up with many of my friends from the industry over champagne for a change! 🙂

Thank you Moët & Chandon – and Monsieur A's doodle guy – for bringing

us such a charming and memorable Valentines party this year!

Cupids Arrow

February 15, 2008 by thejessicat

Cupid has struck again! Happy Vals to all my dear readers and friends

Valentines Day originated all because of Saint Valentine. Google him if you feel like it.
Three cheers to him!

Yesterday was my 4th Valentine spent with Dubby. No, he did not take me to the Eiffel Tower neither did he buy me a 24-carat diamond ring. Hearts have always been simple and personal. Nothing to boast about. Valentine’s Day has indeed been overrated; just like Christmas Day has. Instead of the spirit of such celebrations increasing, such occasions have been enormously elaborate and it has become a means of showing off.

The below was a slightly edited conversation adapted from a few conversations that I heard today. Hmm.. to think of it, I pity those dudes.

——————————–

What did your boyfriend buy for you this year?
Oh, he only bought me a SONY Vaio laptop! What about yours?
I can’t believe it man… it was so lame. He only bought me a platinum pendant and a gold necklace, which only costed RM300.
Just like that? OMG.
Last year was even worse. He bought me this Chanel perfume, which I am very sure is NOT an original product!
Mine was total shit too. He took me to a Chiles, but all my friends’ boyfriends took them to hotels!
What a cheapskate, just like mine.
Yeah, I know.

——————————–

Money can’t buy love? Money can’t buy happiness?
As of now, those two sentences are highly doubted

.. because happiness and it’s degree of it is subjective. What constitutes happiness? =) That’s for each individual to decide. What’s your defination of happiness?

What we did together yesterday on Valentines may not be the best Valentine he has given me yet, but it certainly was happiness in its own way. We even celebrated it for two days! We went to the movies and had a good dinner together at FoodLoft, Gurney.

The next was spent at RedBox and in the beginning it was pretty awesome when we got the huge room with the dance floor in the middle. LOL. Just the both of us; having a good time singing most of the songs we both could never get to sing with our friends. Hmm.. reason being? Most of his pals hardly listen to English numbers and mine dislikes rock, punk or emo rock. So, it was our time to shine!!

Woo-hoo! Singing almost everything we could search for, and laughing ourselves silly at the times we went too high and got outta tune. =P
The most coincidental and sweetest part was when he picked Westlife – Queen of my Heart just at the right moment to be the last song of our session. That song was the very first ‘our song’ together… and he remembered! Back in 2004 was when he first sang it to me.
iluvyew boo~ ♥

After almost 4 hours of fun and laughter, it was grocery shopping hand-in-hand at Cold Storage for us. Muahahahhaa… Mexican Food and Minestrone soup for the dinner menu! (which we also never get to eat when the others are around). We even bought a bottle of wine, a symbol of toast. Once we shopped for all the stuff we needed, we went home and started to prepare our dinner together, hmm.. I shocked you, didn’t I darl? =P (Yes, I have gathered some culinary interest if you hadn’t noticed.)
Lookie! A Valentine’s tomato!

I laid the table.. and he finished preparing the rest.

We had dinner in the cosy living room and cuddled in front of the telly.
Went to whitebow, pinkbow and blackbow all at once hmm boo? *winks* Spending the entire afternoon, evening and night together was indeed lovely.

Oh and Baby, thanks for making up to me when I got all emo over some stuff. It was really sweet of you. You made me feel like a princess! Hmm… I wonder if I should be emo all the time in order for you to treat me like that everyday? =)

Oh, and to complement our vday plans, we gave each other simple gifts =) Oh yes, and two matching tribal wooden necklaces – the letter ‘B’ and the letter ‘J’. (we’re wearing them in the first three pics of this post) The two wonderful days were already the Vday gifts. *hugs&kisses*

vday ‘o5

Vday ‘o6

Here’s to our 4th Valentine.. and more to come~!
