———————————————-

As if the tidal wave of rave parties and music festivals has been decreed to remain on a continuous high all year round, we now have yet another exciting event to look forward to this weekend.

A 12-hour endurance rave, no less!

I personally am still replenishing my depleted energy from the back-to-back rave last Friday and Saturday, but I bet I’ll be fine come this Saturday for Mysterious – Journey to the Sound. Certainly not going to miss this for the world.

Event details:

WHAT? Mysterious – Journey to the Sound

WHEN? 26th April 2013 (2PM // Saturday)

WHERE? Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC)

at Mines Resort City

HOW MUCH? RM158 (regular) // RM258 (VIP)

For some of you who aren’t too familiar with the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene, you might be wondering – who are these DJs? Are their tracks nice? Have they made any outstanding remixes, Beatport chart toppers or are they listed on DJ Mag’s top 100 DJs in the world? Surprised

Let me tell you one thing. If you’re a fan of vocal trance, progressive house and electro, you will be in for a treat as Mysterious Asia – Journey to the Sound is hosting some of the world’s most talented acts this weekend.

Ha HaHa HaHa Ha

Allow me to introduce you the 9 international artists of the night.

I was going to feature them in no particular order, but since the DJ set times have just been announced, here they are according to their time slots on the line up!

REECE LOW (5pm-6pm)

Electro and House DJ-Producer based in Melbourne.

Check out the rest of his works on Soundcloud – here

Well, as the locals say, pandai-pandailah adjust your time, kan? Big Smile

TONY ROMERA (8pm-9pm)

French Electro, House & Progressive DJ-Producer.

I’m nuts over his latest ‘Go Nuts‘ and his remix of Nicky Romero & Calvin Harris’ ‘ ‘Iron’!

NARI & MILANI (9pm-10pm)

SANDRO SILVA (10pm-11pm)

Thumbs up!

TENISHIA (above) ALONG WITH SUSANA (below)

Top Maltese DJs with fine works of Progressive Trance. Listed as #65 on DJ Mag’s Top 100.

Check out their tracks and remixes on Beatport.

That soothing, melodious voice you hear on tracks by Aly & Fila, Bobina, Markus Schulz?

It’s none other than Trance vocalist, Susana. And we’ll be hearing those vocals LIVE!

Check out her collabo in ‘Without You‘.

And that’s a wrap! A brief introduction on all the international acts.

Now it’s your turn to get to know them and their music this weekend, yeah? Big Boss

Oh, and on a side note, I will be interviewing Bobina as well as Tenishia before their set.

If you’re particularly interested in something about their lives/DJing or anything at all, do let me know if there are any questions you want me to ask them.

I will try my best to accommodate your questions into the interview! 😀

Will I see you this weekend? I better! 😀

Let’s rave our 12 hours to the skies. Are you ready? ‘Cos I am.

Hennessy Artistry parties – two shots, please!

June 20, 2013 by thejessicat

I’ve just returned from my beloved island from an immensely hardcore party!

But no, I’m not going to write about that just yet.

Instead, I’ll be sharing with you a star-studded and posh night made of all things glamorous.

Just a quickie blog feature though. Enter: Hennessy Artistry Penang and Hennessy Artistry KL!

Ahhhh yes that oh-so-familiar bottle of rich, smooth blend of cognac

My fave blend amongst all Hennessy cocktails.

Unlike the previous one held at Straits Quay Convention Centre, Hennessy threw this party with equal force at the other end of the island instead, at the Subterranean Penang International Conference & Exhibition Centre, or fondly (and conveniently!) known as SPICE Penang.

Again, I looked forward to returning to my quaint yet exciting island for another round of epic parties.

Arriving SPICE Penang for Hennessy Artistry.

As I reached the venue rather late into the night, I missed the earlier performances and only got to watch the two DJs of the night, Andy Murphy and Nicole Chen. But hey, I was cool with that! Electronic dance music has always been my thing. heart

DJ Andy Murphy on the decks with his thumping electronica set

I was lucky enough to have a word with him when I spotted him sitting on the couch beside mine at the VIP Zone. What are the odds?

Usually, DJs hangout backstage. But he was also given a table to party and host a bunch of his friends who came.

DJ Andy Murphy and I

Upon posting up this photo on Instagram, an Australian DJ friend of mine told me that Andy is really one of the nicest DJs he has ever met and spoken too. I couldn’t agree more!

Not only was he talented on the turn-tables, Andy was such a sweetheart! So easy-going, friendly and fun to talk to! We managed to strike a decent conversation that night. laugh

I had a brilliant time raving to his music while catching up with my homies from the island!

Here are some party photos with my Penang buddies and I.

Ivyonne and I

Chris and I

Krystal and I

Alton and I

and a whole lot more whom I didn’t manage to take photos with! blush

I think this shows how much everyone was enjoying themselves that night.

The final DJ of the night Nicole Chen

I actually had heaps of fun with her music!

Her set was versatile with much emphasis on Dutch-house, slightly wicked and very progressive.

More party photos anyone? wink

Here are some I managed to snap with my KL buddies!

Don / Jessicat / Benjamin

Yuki / Anna / Jessicat

Ash / Jessicat

Dennis / Jessicat

Benjamin / Jessicat / Anna / Bok

The night was a fantastic one; lots of catching up over good music and Hennessy’s signature cocktails.

I personally had a lot of fun for those good few hours with all my partymates and even bumped into old friends. Yup, you tend to get that a lot if you’re from such a warm and cosy island like Penang – where everyone knows everyone LOL

May 25, 2013 | Thank you @HennessyMY for another great #party! I had a great time ❤ #hennessyartistry #penang by imthejessicat on Keek.com

With that being said…

Three cheers to Hennessy for a fun night! Hip hip.. hurrah! yesyesyes

Moving on to Hennessy Artistry KL!

Though it’s pretty late to post this now but since we’re on the topic of  Hennessy Artistry Penang, I figured that I’m not gonna skip making a quick post about it at the same time. wink

Arriving KWC KL with my fave partymates of the night! heart

BF & the BFF.

Haha adapting a totally different style than I did for Hennessy Artistry Penang!

As compared to one of elegance in the latter,I was decked out in a more edgy look tonight.

Hosts of the night, Julie Woon and Nadia Heng giving us guests warm welcome!

The line-up of the night was undeniably a stellar, show-stopping one of international recognition.

I could remember not putting my drinks down as I rode high on the waves of all the performances!

The performers of the night were:

Mr. Nasty and GuruGuru

They’re arguably my fave DJs in Malaysia!

Playing a deep, eclectic, bass-jacking and much faster electronica beats like techno, hardstyle, hard trance

and the like, this dynamic duo certainly got me fist-pumping all night.

Beatboxer Koujee takes the stage pumping up the atmosphere with his vocal beats!

The dancers were off the hook as well!

I loved their outfit for the night! So simple yet dark and speaks a volume of attitude.

When Dutch powerhouse Eva Simons took to the stage, the crowd came to a near rapture!

She literally took over control of the night as she belted out her collabo track with Afrojack, ‘Take Over Control’.

We continued dancing and partying hard to Eva when she sang

‘This is Love’ collaborated with Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas fame.

Don’t stop the partaaayy!

My party levels shot to an even higher scale when Angger Dimas blasted his two-hour set.

Told you. I love listening to deep, electronica acoustic sounds of DJs of all sorts.

He performed, as usual, a hard and progressive set which nailed it completely!

Progressive trance, electro-house, big room and dubstep permeated the scene that night.

Angger Dimas / Jessicat

Just like the previous Hennessy Artistry parties, I got to grab a quick photo with the DJs that made my night.

Mad respect for you! Such talent and impeccable taste in remixing fresh sounds of original tracks.

Also stole a picture with the boys of B.A.T.E

The night went on and partygoers were seen brimming with energy even in the wee hours of the morning. I was no exception! Angger Dimas’ music kept me going all night.

It was like fuel I was feeding off from. yes

Make way for some party photos with my buddies before I head off to bed!

Jessicat / Rob

My boy. No introduction needed heart

One drink too many? laugh

Pammy / Jessicat

Jessicat / Kevin

There were so many other partymates and friends whom I bumped into but didn’t manage to grab a quick photo. Perhaps I was enjoying the music too much by the middle and towards end of the night! yes

Once I was on a row, raving to the music and downing shots of Hennessy was all that mattered.

Thank you Hennessy Malaysia, for having me at all your Hennessy Artistry’s since 2009!

It’s a party I’d never want to give a miss wink

Check out the other places I have went to such as Zouk and Envy if you want more of my adventures.

ELEVATE Ipoh! The finale rocks Perak’s brand new hotspot – Sensation of Sound (SOS)

December 4, 2012 by thejessicat

When a party is set to hit a small town you spent your childhood in, you know it will only spell a whole new experience.

I accepted the invitation with full anticipation when Ipoh, Perak was the chosen destination of ELEVATE’s finale of its nation-wide series of events.

My plus one & I

It’s the last ELEVATE party of the year – already?

Throughout the year, partygoers from all over the country didn’t need to travel all the way to KL city to partyrock the night away. ELEVATE brought the party to the revellers instead.

I’ve personally attended a couple of ELEVATE events – ELEVATE Penang & ELEVATE KL.

Two out of the total number of six parties which was also held in Malacca, Kuantan, Johor Bahru, Kuching… and tonight, it’s time for ELEVATE Ipoh to wrap it all up with a fantastic closure

The latest dance club in Ipoh was the chosen partyzone

Growing up in this little quaint state, one would quite naturally assume that I know everything there is to know about it.

Before you request I point you in the right direction of Ipoh’s best clubbing scene… Sorry to break it to you, I can’t LOL. It is rather surprising (even to me!) that I’ve never once partied within the grounds of Ipoh’s townscape before.

You can’t ever miss the neon prism-like hotspot that is

Sensation of Sound (SOS) located along Jalan Raja Ekram!

We arrived in all shades of blue, adhering to ELEVATE’s colour theme.

The venue was already packed with guests as early as 9.30pm! Hmm.. that’s something vastly different from the KL club scene where partygoers would only begin to flock the venue just before midnight.

Soaking in everything Ipoh’s partyscene has to offer

To warm-up the party before it set off, we were first entertained by SOS’s very own in-house entertainment.

Their DJ was spinning us electronic & RnB tunes

And their nine-piece Filipino live band

They belted various renditions of popular songs ranging from the classics, alternative rock, rap, to the latest chart-topping pop hits.

We enjoyed the free-flow of Carlsberg for the night. There was plenty to go around!

Us with some local Ipoh friends!

Girls decked in blue & our boys in grey

The other half & I

Chillin’ on one of the many comfy, velvety red lounge seats in SOS!

Suddenly, the lights dimmed and we were shrouded in darkness

The music took us by storm and local dance crew Elecoldxhot, fully clad in robotic LED gear appeared before us!

They worked their tight & well-synchronized routines on stage

Some of them were breakdancing, while others were shuffling, popping & locking!

They ended their first performance bearing ELEVATE’s logo in a creative formation of their arms!

After a short interval, the next performance gave us something to jump right outta our seats to dance and sing along with.

Any guesses? There was no surprise when the band belted out the ever-contagious, annoyingly amusing song of the year, Gangnam Style! :D:D

The lead singer was even dressed to mimic Psy!

Heeeeeeeeeyyyyyyyy! Sexy lady!

All of us, myself included, went on a frenzy and galloped along to the rhythmic horse-riding moves that made the song hilariously popular in the first place.

It was certainly a sight to see! Partygoers, both young and old were seen doing the exact same dance moves. Gangnam Style is no doubt, a phenomenon that is here to stay!

Elecoldxhot joined the fun and gangnam-styled on stage too

We had so much fun! That certainly cranked up the mood of the party.

Really, now… what’s a party without Gangnam Style nowadays, huh? ;)

Just being silly

More party pictures ensued. It was lovely catching up with familiar faces that night!

Elecoldxhot took to the stage again – this time, in a different apparel.

They were donning their signature vibrant & colourful streetwear this time

How smooth can these boys move?

Sparks lit up the stage and fizzled for a good few minutes

Their closing dance was certainly a bang!

Confetti burst out in the open and engulfed the dance floor with shimmery tinsels of blue and silver.

Some of the shiny paper even landed on our faces and got into our glasses of beer, from where we were standing!  No matter, all in the name of good fun!

We had to fetch ourselves new drinks though, just before the free-flow ended at midnight.

DJ Yasmin raises the temperature!

We needn’t have to wait long before our final act stole the limelight & took full control of the night.

It was great to have this petite beauty hailing all the way from Jakarta, Indonesia, right here with us!

Tonight, she not only played uplifting trance beats but also house, techno and dubstep as well

Such a paparazzi shot, no? :P:P

The party kept going for what felt like all night long! However, all good things must come to an end.

ELEVATE officially ended when the doors swung open to the public just after midnight, but this can only mean the more the merrier!

As expected, the venue got even more packed with people than it already is, all in the name of a hectic, buzzing Saturday night.

Thank you, once again, ELEVATE, for having me at your train of parties throughout Malaysia!

Check out KL and Penang’s ELEVATE previous events respectively for more!

Future Sound Asia presents David Guetta LIVE in Malaysia (Special guest DJs Alesso & Kaz James) @ Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia! | David Guetta Asia Tour 2012

October 18, 2012 by thejessicat

I'm still buzzing from Friday's massive David Guetta rave! My body hurts all over, but the pain is oh-so-good.

You know you've been to a hell of a wicked party when you wake up with a sore neck & shoulders, painful calves & aching arms. Friday night saw more than 20,000 revellers at the Paddock Parking of our famed racing circuit, the Sepang International Circuit.

I'm ready for a night of mayhem!

*disclaimer*

Didn't feel like lugging my DSLR camera around as I planned to party the hardest.

So all the photos in this blogpost are taken by the iPhone 4S

Selca while waiting for boyfieKon to get ready – one of the rare moments I'm

ready before him because I've got so little clothes on LOL :P

When it rained all day on Friday, I was fully prepared to rave the night away away nonetheless.

Double outfit of the day!

I chose a rainbow-coloured coordinate while boyfieKon wore his comical Futurama tee

Come rain or shine, the show must go on, yes?

But thankfully, the EDM gods must've heard our plight & stopped the rain before the event even began!

I headed down to Sepang with boyfieKon along with my buddies Larry & Sabrina.

The crowd

We missed local electro-techno DJ Xu & Australian DJ Kaz James' set upon arrival. Bummer! :/

But we managed to watch the full set of Alesso, David Guetta & our homeboys DJ duo Blink & Goldfish.

The very second I arrived, I put on my Ray-Bans & dived straight into the raging mosh pit, as usual!

What's a rave party if you sit at the sidelines and not get down raving, jumping, shuffling, headbanging your heart out? I just had to. The atmosphere was beckoning me – couldn't resist!

We were trying hard not to get pushed and shoved even more when we took this photo! :D

Shakey shakey!

boyfieKon and I at the crazy mosh pit!

Alesso was spinning while I was springing along with full gusto!

The energy in me was roaring to go all out tonight.

I went beserk when 'Raise Your Head' was playing LIVE before me.

Oh Alesso!!

Met up some friends at the mosh pit and I was so stoked! :D

What are the odds? Bumping into your friends in a sardine-packed crowd of tens of thousands?

Buddy Hisham was one of them :D

So glad to bump into buddy Anis at the mosh pit!

No, actually, we didn't bump into each other

She called to ask where I was and managed to squeezed through the violent mosh pit just for me!

Major love for my girl, Anis

I was actually surprised she was here!

Looks like there was more of a partygirl streak in her that I didn't know :P

More camlovin'!

boyfieKon joined us :D

Friday night was also the first time I heard 'Every Chance We Get We Run' – a collabo between Alesso & David Guetta – which you can check out on the latter's latest album : Nothing But the Beat 2.0.

Alesso dropped many familiar tracks including all his original tracks and shot us to the sky with the mighty ones that clinched the #1 spot on Beatport!

Do you remember which ones? The atmosphere was uplifted yet again with 'Years' and 'City of Dreams'.

Milkyway backdrop!

I looked up to the sky, raised my hands and sang (screamed, actually!) along to the beautiful lyrics.

Don't know about the rest. I was flying high as a kite to take notice of everyone else around me.

But I'm pretty damn sure everyone else enjoyed themselves during Alesso's set. I know I did

Loving the cityscape backdrop!

He ended his 1.5 hour set with crowd-favorite, 'Calling (Lose My Mind)' – a 2011 collaboration with Sebastian Ingrosso, paving the way our main headliner, David Guetta to steal the show.

We yelled for an encore but Alesso didn't return :/

While waiting for the next act

Moving on….

David Guetta's entrance was nothing short of dramatic. See it for yourself!

The helicopter-chopping sound effects & background music of his grand entrance reverberated from the giant sound systems surrounding the rave zone, invoking much suspense and anticipation from us all.

Thousands of us were chanting, "GUETTA! GUETTA! GUETTA! GUETTA! GUETTA!"

Finally… our World #1 DJ made his debut appearance in Malaysia!

He kick-started his 2 hour set with 'Titanium' featuring Sia which shot us all into a delirious frenzy.

YOU SHOOT ME DOWN! BUT I WON'T FALL!

I AM TITANIUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMM!

I then started live-tweeting the songs he played for my friends, readers & followers who were unable to be there!

The first 5 songs Guetta performed were :

'Titanium' feat. Sia, 'She-Wolf' feat. Sia and a remix of 'Quasar' by Hard Rock Sofa, 'Sexy Bitch' feat. Akon and 'Craissy 2k12' by DJ Obek.

The moment I heard the very hint of 'Metropolis', I went absolutely crazy!

I loved the song so much. It was a collaboration between Guetta & Nicky Romero

A colossal burst of shimmery confetti then filled the night sky as David Guetta dropped a deeper, pulsating beat to move our feet.

He sure had the bass tomelt the face!

Silly selca with confetti paper which landed on me

I traversed into a state of ecstasy and raved like no one was watching.

LOL candids that boyfieKon snapped

Being amongst an exuberant crowd jumping in unison felt like we all came here for one sole reason.

To gather in the name of EDM and muster all our energy to rave the night away

Guetta's crowd interaction was fab. He even jumped onto the DJ console and jumped along with us!

Among the rather touching and heartfelt things he said was:

"I'm so happy to be able to be here and play for you for the very first time"

"This is my first Asian tour. Looks like tonight is going to be the best night and the biggest Asian tour I've done. Over 20,000 people. WOW! Thank you for making it so special"

At one point he even brandished his French flag and waved it in the air!

Guetta also pumped up the crowd with his original tracks 'Sexy Bitch' feat. Akon, 'Love is Gone', 'Bad Girl'. 'Without You', 'When Love Takes Over', 'Turn Me On'. 'One Love, 'Memories' feat. Kid Cudi, 'Where Them Girls At' and a truckload more!

Other songs he remixed were 'Fix You' by Coldplay, 'Apologize' by One Republic, and I Gotta Feeling' by the Black Eyed Peas among many others.

Sillytimes!

Some of Guetta's older songs actually reminded us of our late teenage years where those famed songs will be blasting non-stop in all the clubs every weekend.

FLASHBACK!  Think 2009's 'Sexy Bitch', 2007's 'Love is Gone' and 2009's 'When Love Takes Over'

We sang along with him when his track went "I'M DAVID GUETTA, BITCH!" instead of "I'm in Miami, bitch!"

I found that very amusing; he was chuckling while playing that too. We could all see his smile from a mile away!

Here's a video I made of the event. Do watch it! I've spent quite a while on it :)

Watch out for the parts where David Guetta spoke to us in the crowd & jumped right on to the DJ deck with the explosion of sparklers and confetti bursts!

David Guetta & Alesso LIVE in Malaysia 2012. Enjoy!

As Guetta clocked in his last 20 minutes of his set, boyfieKon and I decided to withdraw from the crowd & *finally* help ourselves to some ice-cold Heineken, hang out with some buddies and get a comfy place to sit down.

I didn't realize we've been standing & dancing for more than 3 hours!

Hisham & us

Steve & us

Ben & I

Fireworks shot away from the stage and sky-rocketed into the air several times as David Guetta's set came close and closer to the end. It was magnificent!

Looks like boyfieKon and I made the right choice to sit back and enjoy the more laidback crowd at the back lounging around compared to the insanity of the mosh pit.

Got an official photo taken for us! :D

Goldfish & Blink took over right after as the closing act of the night. They dropped various tracks by Hardwell, Ferry Corsten, Tiesto, Swedish House Mafia, Knife Party and many hours in their 1 hour set.

The DJ duo also included a never-heard-before song booming from the speakers. It was 'Flags', their latest, original track produced in collaboration with Sidney Samson.

It's not out yet, but we all heard it first!

Here's a little snippet to how it sounds like

We left soon after Goldfish & Blink finished their set.

Wasn't looking forward to throng through the crowd all leaving at the same time but we made it.

We had some dimsum at Jalan Ipoh thereafter… and its good night to all!

So yes, that made my Friday a notch more exciting than usual.

Raving & soaring to progressive, house & trance amongst 25,000 fellow EDM-ers.

A night of world-class DJs spinning, an impressive stage set-up & lighting, and good company.

Bring on the next rave!

Thank you Future Sound Asia for a phenomenal night!
