Hello Dengue Fever! No thanks for the virus and the suffering, but I’m back, mightier than ever!

March 31, 2013 by thejessicat

From the perils of initial dengue stages, to the much dreaded hospitalization and finally, the recovery period, I am now back in action!

I figured that since many of you have shown a significant amount of concern of what really happened and what I've been going through, this definitely warrants a blog post!

This entry will include bits and pieces of screenshots

from my Twitter timeline as well as my mini blog too.

So… many, if not all, of you are aware that I have been bitten by the bug.

It is a virus known as the Dengue virus, which, if left untreated can be very dangerous… or worse, fatal.

So here's my story:

I was feeling weak and unwell for several days, but I figured it was pretty common to be lethargic in this day and age. What's new?

Initially, I thought it was just my lack of sleep or as they all say, "It's the weather."

Seeing that I was still unwell, boyf made me a hearty chicken and vegetable soup

As days passed, I could feel myself zapped completely of the little energy I had left.

This felt rather odd for me, as I've always been very much of an energy-driven girl. frown

What happened to the girl I used to know? My face lacked luster, my limbs wouldn't hold me or anything up for more than 5 minutes, my joints hurt, I was pale, often exhausted and would crash into bed the moment I got home from work.no

This was very unusual.
And it went on for a week.

Yeah, go ahead. Reprimand me! sad I shouldn't have let it linger for so long.

Let's take a look at how long I've left myself untreated from Dengue manifesting in my bloodstream and gradually knocking down my imunity & strength. It's a good thing I have my Twitter timeline to refer to. (Check out the dates!)

I didn't tweet about how awful I'm feeling each and every time but this should be enough to establish a timeline.

I was finally admitted to the hospital on the 20th March 2013.

AND I DID. FINALLY. LOL

But being one who is absolutely terrified of the mere thought of hospitals, doctors, injections, nurses, clinics, I obviously tried self-recovering with Panadols + water + rest, biut clearly, my efforts were all but futile.crying

My loved ones, close friends and colleagues managed to convince me to finally get myself checked. (Lest I become one of those Stage 4 cancer victims who ignorantly refused to be checked until it really gets too late to save themselves.)surprisesurprise

Little did I know that I would be diagnosed with Dengue Influenza the very moment I went to the hospital! blush

I was totally unprepared to be admitted, much less for a few nights' stay!

So, I begged the doctor to let me go home and pack first, but he did not relent as he described my condition as a very serious case which required immediate hospital care.

Blood test.

I was told I was going to stay for at least three nights. What?

THREE NIGHTS MINIMUM… IN HOSPITAL? You're joking, right Doc? O_o

Suddenly, I felt fine and well again. (I just wanted to go home, to be entirely honest)

My first night in hospital was frightening and niggling things kept me awake.

On my first night I couldn't sleep at all. I was tossing and turning all night long, due to wailing newborns crying and screaming at the top of their lungs. Geez, who would've known such tiny beings had the might to emit such high-pitched noises!? Remember to send signals to the dolphins, while you're at it.

Ohai. Can't sleep.

Oh, I think I missed this very important point.

As embarrassing as this may sound, they first put me in a maternity ward as they ran out of available rooms. Yeah yeah, mom wouldn't stop teasing me about it. I told her to, as we Malaysians would say, "YAAA, YOU SLOWLY WAIT LA OKAY MOM" or she's more than welcome to give birth for me LOL.

Eventually, I fell asleep. Or at least I think I did.

~

The next morning I was rudely awaken by the loud chatter of the other patients' visitors.

And more crying babies and toddlers.

After having my breakfast, I tried to fall back asleep but was awaken AGAIN by audibly disturbing conversations, singing and laughter when the cleaners came to clean up the discharged patients' bed. And here I thought you could only have so much to discuss or joke about while making a hospital bed.

~

So the nurse just made me cry. She accidentally pressed hard onto the drip that was wedged into my vein and everything started bleeding and dripping down my wrist. crying No pictures, obviously as I was writhing in pain.

It's probably as painful as easing 10 porcupines down your throat.
For someone with 6 tattoos and 6 piercings, this reduced me to tears cryingcrying

Just a pretty sunrise that greeted me in the morning from my new ward window one morning

Oh yes, they eventually shifted me to a personal ward of my own with an en-suite bathroom.

It was a children's ward this time but hey, I didn't mind. I got to watch cartoons instead of weepy soap operas and the walls were colourfully painted with animals, happy rainbows, sunshine and the like. devil

My new private ward had a lovely view too!

Ohyeaaa. cool Check it out!

Much better than being in a ward where someone (or many) would have probably died in the same room, on the same bed.

Eeek.

Me telling the nurse to switch to Cartoon Network.

Tom and Jerry kept me company on nights where I was alone.

Oh, wanna see my hospital food?

I didn't manage to take all of what I was served daily, but here are some the nicer-looking ones.

The amount of love, encouragement and concern I've received from all of you was truly moving. heart

Friends, family, colleagues, loved ones, blog readers and followers alike kept me strong with their kind words, encouragement, well-wishes, visits and company every singe day.

To say the least, I was overwhelmed by the care and compassion that each of you showered me in your own way – personally coming to visit me in hospital, phone calls, text messages, dropping me tweets, Instagram comments, Facebook comments, private messages, the gifts that I received, all advice passed on my way and every other way you could reach me to send me your regards.

I am so touched and truly honoured that you guys took the time to spare a thought for me. heartheart

Maybe that's how I stayed so strong and roaring to be well. I am so blessed to have all of you!

Missed out so many photos as I was really lifeless at certain points. Here are some I managed to take:

Fruits and 100 PLUS that were delivered all the way to me.heart

BestiePam and Rama who came to visit and brought me my mythical cure – papaya leaves

to make juice from! heart Legend has it that it raises one's blood platelet count!

Mr. BFF Vincent who drove all the way to KL to visit me, brought me

my fave watermelon juice and the most adorable card with a hand-written message on it.

I love it! heart

Buddies Clem & Fi who came over and caught up with me

just in time before the visiting hours shut heart

Buddy Edwin, who kept me company and brought me lunch! heart

A personalized message from the BurgerJunkyard crew too.

Boyf who came every night to see me and bring me things from home heart

The best boss and colleagues I'll ever have. heart

They even brought me many fruits (I loved the seedless grapes!) and my fluffy red ball that I hug at work!

Mommy and kakak who came all the way to take care of me whilst in hospital. heart

So thankful they came, as my condition worsened by the day.

Many others came and I'm sorry I didn't have enough strength to take a photo or it probably slipped my mind.sad

Nevertheless, thank you so much for coming, it surely brightened my day and made my night cheerier!

After what was to me, nothing short of a torturous ordeal, the worst is finally over.
I was discharged from hospital over the weekend! devilyes

I certainly will not miss being connected to tubes that I sometimes bleed from, being woken up to nurses injecting my veins several times a session to draw my blood, being drenched in cold sweat, enduring shortage of breath, having severely aching limbs and bones, fearfully dragging the intravenous drip to the toilet with me, having zero appetite yet starving away and being a depressed cat enclosed within the four walls of my ward and quiet corridors sad

My stay at Tropicana Medical Centre was a mediocre, yet pleasant experience.

I would not fully recommend this hospital due to a few reasons:

1. The GP who attended to me at night lacked tact and was a tad offensive when asking me about financial matters. I may not want to disclose the details of the conversation, but it gave me the impression of his insinuation that I could not afford to pay my hospital bills by myself and expected me to bring my mother along or "someone who can pay for you."

Look, I CHOSE a specialist center instead of a General Hospital (GH). Do I look like I am unable to foot my own medical bill or something? I'm fully covered by insurance, by the way. And even if I wasn't, I'm financialy independant and also own a platinum credit card, mind you. Of course it offended me! angry

Yeah sure, like I walked into a specialist center and expect to pay 6 bucks for a check-up like the ones at GH? The same check-up alone cost me 600 bucks here.

2. The specialist/doctor that attended to me was, although very patient, sweet-natured and kind, was very negligent in his medical dealings with me. My daily blood test was, amongst other reasons, done to monitor my blood platelet count and my white blood cell count to establish my current condition on whether it improved or deteriorated. I will only be discharged if there is a continuous upward trend on my platelet count. On the first night, it was 129. The next day, it rose to 130. But on the 3rd day, it dropped to 120.

The doctor came in on the third day and congratulated me, as I will be discharged immediately because my "blood platelet count rose to 120.". I widened my eyes in sceptism and asked, "Are you serious? It dropped so much to 120 and you are discharging me? For real?". The nurse and he, then exchanged looks in wonder. He then told the nurse to quickly cancel my discharge and billing procedures. blush

Seriously? If I was any less alert than I was or have not been taking note of my own count, I would have been discharged when my condition had worsened. I had also been vomitting, my temperature had returned and I felt worse than ever on that day itself. I was then still on drip for the next two days.

Wow. Thanks, but no thanks, doc.

I'd love to be discharged from hospital but I don't think my body is quite ready yet. indecision

All in all, I just feel that a reputable establishment like Tropicana Medical Center, being a private and individually-owned hospital, ought to deliver accountable, top-notch service, parallel to its exorbitant fees.

And I'm not even complaining about the food, as it was decently palatable, or the nurses, as they were all generally compassionate, patient and made me feel comfortable throughout my stay (except for a nurse who made me bleed so much from my vein drip and the other one who injected me so many times after failing to withdraw my blood over and over again).

Apart from that, I thank you, Tropicana Medical Centre, for a pleasant stay.

Very pale and weak but at last, I am discharged! cool

As you can probably tell, I've been blogging this entire blog post little by little in the hospital daily whenever I wasn't suffering too much LOL.

I now type this with a pounding head, but hey, at least I'm on the route to recovery

Reaching for a rainbow everyday, in optimisim

Mom and kakak brought me home to Penang immediately upon discharge so she could nurse me back to health, with the right medication, rest, attention and love in the comfort of my own home. heart

Still on a soft/semi-liquid diet, so dinner is nutritious porridge with steamed fish,

spinach, organic carrots, wheat germ, sesame seeds and soy lecithin.

My family is amazing. They took care of me and rushed to my aid whenever I needed it most.

Been drinking the icky BLACK herbal soup for recovery, red dates and many other Chinese herbal stuff, fresh coconut water for hydration, fruit juices, plenty of fish for protein, homemade barley drinks, homecooked fish noodle soup, more porridge every day and so on.

So I was in Penang for a few days until I felt much better.

I didn't want to be away from work for too long, neither did I want to continue being a bedridden sick kitty for any much longer. Whether or not I was ready yet, I wanted to get back on my feet. I wanted my life back. My life in the big city beckons!

Time and tide waits for no man — I've wasted far too much time being in bed for almost two weeks!

Boiling 'em herbs last night!

Mom bought me traditional Chinese herbs for vitality, strength and to improve the production of red blood cells

And of course, plenty of fruits and vegetables!

Shot taken today. Almost 100% recovered!

Also, I've purportedly lost weight, or so it seems.

This entire ordeal has made me realize how important the gift of health is to a person.

Being bedridden and almost incapable of doing simple things for myself has been rather depressing. Showering is an uphill task, feeding myself is cumbersome, walking up the stairs is exchausting, even merely sitting up or standing proved to be a near impossible feat. crying

It is the very moment when you are deprived from what you rely on the most, that you only realize how much you've taken it for granted. Human nature, ain't it? You'll never know what you've got till it's gone. indecision

Well, your time is up now, Dengue. I survived. It's time for me to take back what's mine.

My health, my vitality, my strength, my energy and my life. Away with you virus, never to return again!

That fateful night I was blindfolded… and got my belly stuffed with Pizza Hut’s Cheesy 7 pizza!

October 10, 2012 by thejessicat

Have you ever been put under duress to only use four out of your five basic human senses while eating?

I have… last Tuesday, albeit not at gunpoint LOL. My dinner experience will never be the same again!

My plus one for the dinner function

We're both absolute cheese lovers and was more than up for this!

Thanks to Pizza Hut Malaysia for inviting me to the Sneak Preview Media Launch of their Cheesy 7 pizza

Cheesy 7 pizza? Sounds familiar, you say?

Yup, that's because it is.

The all-time favorite Cheesy 7 is coming right back at us… on our plates and into our stomachs! YAY!

((STYLESHOT OF THE DAY))

Jessicat wears: Off-shoulder top in teal by G2000 Blu | Skinny Jeans in Dark Blue by GUESS |

Metal Owl neckpiece from a local bazaar | Superman Shield Belt by DC |

Raspberry Sorbet Tote Bag in Red by Burberry | Suede Peep-toe wedges in Dark Grey by Vincci |

So I dolled up, brought my appetite & empty stomach with me and I made my way to…

Pizza Hut @ Kota Damansara

Entering!

Looking around made me soon realize that I haven't stepped into Pizza Hut for quite a while.

Today's entry will be quite a nostalgic one. The interior of the Pizza Hut outlet brought me fond memories of all the Pizza Huts I've dined in when I was growing up

OLD PHOTO IN PIZZA HUT @ BAYAN BARU PENANG | CIRCA 2006

My gang of homies and I would often infuse our dishes with copious amounts of cheese. (As above)

Even that is an understatement! We'd pour the entire cheese-shaker into our pizzas, soup & all the side-dishes and giggled to ourselves when the Pizza Hut waitress jawdropped in disbelief when she brought another FULL cheese-shaker to our table.

Heh. heh. heh. The joys of being obnoxious teenagers. :P

Now we don't have to do it anymore because I heard Pizza Hut's Cheesy 7 is making its comeback!

Ready for another blast from the past? :D

Yeah, you can also derive pleasure in laughing at old photos of the young Jessicat.

OLD PHOTO IN PIZZA HUT @ GURNEY DRIVE PENANG | CIRCA 2007!

(Haha I was chubby & goodness gracious, the hair! I must be emo)

After college lessons, my classmates and I used to head to the nearest Pizza Hut for lunch!

We spoke of silly things, did ridiculous stuff with our pizza & crafted pretty ingenious ways of eating it LOL

OLD PHOTO IN PIZZA HUT @ KINTA CITY IPOH | CIRCA 2008!

My family and I often patronize Pizza Hut for both occasions and non-occasions Family dinner/reunions with thefockers always keeps all our stomachs happy! :D

Granny loves the cheese Uncle Mike loves the crust, Mom & I love the topping, Aunty Queenie loves the salad, Goddy loves the side-dishes (especially the buffalo wings) & the couzzies just munch down everything! So.. where else but Pizza Hut?

OLD PHOTO IN PIZZA HUT @ MAJU JUNCTION MALL | CIRCA 2009!

Pizza Hut loved me enough to invite me to a food review of their new Crunchy Cheesy Bites back in 2009

Blogpost – here;)

As you can see throughout the years, Pizza Hut saw me growing up.

They loved me. But I loved them more

A little mouse dropped this into my mailbox last week  :P

And today…….

NOT OLD… BUT NEW PHOTO IN PIZZA HUT @ KOTA DAMANSARA | OCTOBER 2012! :D:D

We were given a welcoming speech by April Yim before everything began.

She gave us a breakdown of the agenda for the evening

She then announced a Twitter contest!

The person who gets the most RTs of "Dear @PizzaHutMsia , bring back the #cheesy7 pizza!" will win!

So all of us spammed our timeline coaxing our dear friends at Pizza Hut Malaysia to bring back what we love

Haha! Just a small part of our whole night efforts of convincing :P

LOL boyfieKon snapped a photo of me tweeting all night

Mr. Yusof Ishak, Marketing Manager of Pizza Hut, also gave a few words and expressed his warm welcome and gratitude to us who came for tonight's Cheesy 7 Sneak Preview Red Carpet Media Launch party :)

Pleasure's all ours, actually! ;)

We were told that we were going to be sampling four new types/toppings of Pizza Hut's Cheesy 7.

I was all fine & dandy until… I found out that we were going to be blindfolded. Wha–WHAAADDDD???

BUT BUT BUT I need my eyes to appreciate how yummy the pizza looks like!

What am I going to see with now?

I soon found that it was precisely their point. You don't need your eyes to taste food, yo.

With one sense down, I was able to solely focus my sense of smell & taste on the flavours of the pizza

Evelyn helped me take photos of me while I helped her take photos of her.

Any better ideas? Heck, we were blindfolded & happened to be sitting in front of each other!

Before our pizza arrived, I stole a few self shots & peeked at what was going on around me. :P

They might've stripped me away of my sense of sight, but I still have very powerful sense of smell & sense of taste!

Okay now I risk sounding like a hunting bloodhound

CAN'T SEE? NO PROBLEM. Let my tastebuds be the judge

Generation X & Y these days can never seem to get off their gadgets – even to eat in peace.

Being blindfolded would mean we were not able to tweet, take photos, share nor do anything except EAT and appreciate our food. It was a terrific move, I must say!

The first pizza!

Muahahahha since I wasn't able to see how it looks like, YOU WON'T TOO :P:P

As I sank my teeth into the first slice, it had me at the first bite.

The first pizza tasted amazing and was very cheesy (duh)! I reckon it had chicken chunks, chicken meatloaf & chicken sausages in it… also tasted some onions (and capsicums I think?), a yummy tomato base and needless to say bursting with 7 amazing cheese flavours.

Here's an unglamorous photo of me ravaging my favorite one outta the four pizzas…

of which I THINK could be the Chicken Supreme?

As the second pizza came, the Pizza Hut staff helped us to our plates and passed us our pizzas directly into our hands as we obviously couldn't see where the pizza was placed.

We didn't even know where the plates were if we didn't feel it in front of us!

The second pizza!

The second pizza had a completely different taste to the first one altogether. This one, apart from also being very cheesy, was juicier and the seafood smell was a giveaway :) I could taste the Thousand Island sauce in it. I then bit into what tasted like tuna and crabmeat slices!

I speculate this to be the Island Supreme?

The third pizza! *sniff sniff*

I didn't fancy this one too much – perhaps I was almost getting full?

This one had very meaty, beefy taste to it & I somehow found it a tad overwhelming for me. But I don't exactly fancy beef too much so you can't take my word for it. This would undeniably be a meat lovers' dream though:)

It was served piping hot! Had to blow on it first, lest I burn my lips! :)

I could taste (and you can see LOL)  chunks of beef, ground beef & beef pepperoni that rised above the strong taste of cheese

I reckon it COULD be the Super Supreme or the Pepperoni Delight?

The fourth (and last!) Pizza!

This, to my best experience throughout all the years of pizza-eating, is undeniably Hawaiian Supreme!

I could definitely distinguish the chicken meatloaf & zesty pineapple chunks :D I liked this one too

***

After I finished all four different Cheesy 7 pizzas, I was full to the brim but decided against unbuckling my belt or unbuttoning my jeans.

We were individually asked to share what we thought of the four pizzas to the rest at the table.

Thanks for the photo, Evelyn!

With my favorite being the first and the second pizza, I recounted my (blindfolded) experience while eating them & put my opinions forward.

The first pizza wins hands down! I can't wait to eat it again when Cheesy 7 finally decides to return to Pizza Hut :D

As we speak, it returns TOMORROW!!

Realizing that I can't be glued to my chair forever, I just had to walk off my extremely full stomach.

So here are some photos of my buddies and I during our Pizza Hut moments

So many happy faces! Clearly, we all enjoyed our Cheesy 7 experience. :D:D

Just when we thought that was all, *poof* appeared Pizza Hut's signature side-dishes on our table!

Favorites Platter

A delightful platter of all-time favourites. A combo of Toasted Chicken & Cheese Rolls, Criss-cut fries

and New Orleans Drumettes that's lip smacking tasty complete with carrots and cucumber sticks with Cool Lime Dip.

The rolls are awesome, no joke right there!

Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Succulent prawns and roasted Shitake mushrooms tossed with red capsicums, fried garlic and roasted onions.

Garnished wish fresh parsley and chilli flakes.

I'm always a fan of Aglio Olio pasta so yes, I approve of this!

Meatballs Bolognaise Spaghetti

Meatballs, minced meat and roasted onions simmered in tomato sauce and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

BoyfieKon sure liked this one!

Oooooooooohhhh.. what's that, Yusof?

Tempura Prawn Garlic Rice

Aromatic garlic rice served with roasted onions, fried garlic, chicken loaf, crabsticks, silced mushrooms,

diced red capsicums and tempura king prawns.

The tempura prawns were gone within a split of a second. What? Don't look at me! *whistles* ;)

Hehe thank youuuuuu Pizza Hut for feeding us so well & making sure our tummies are happy

My Tuesday dinner has never been better. Good times, good food & good company!

EAT. LAUGH. SHARE. That was certainly what we all did – because that's what we're good at!

One thing made me a notch happier that night.

Remember the Twitter contest I mentioned at the start of this blogpost?

I was one of the winners! :D:D Now I have free Pizza Hut vouchers aplenty!

Which means, more cheesy pizza for boyfieKon and I!

So much to go around… can't wait to give my family a Pizza Hut treat too

We returned home stuffed and happy… and cheesed!

In the meantime…

BRING BACK THE CHEESY 7 NOW!! NOW NOW NOW I IMPLORE YOU!

Thank you Pizza Hut Malaysia for an amazing time!

Till next time! You'll see me and my loved ones at your outlets again very soon

Here’s an update on a brilliant progress! Permanent Hair Removal + IPL Acne Facial treatment

December 6, 2011 by thejessicat

Since many of you have been asking, here's a post to update you on my progress of the IPL treatment!

Remember the previous entry I wrote about here and here about my sessions at My Body Secrets?

Those were only the first few treatments that you saw. Now I'm almost to the end of the package!

4th session

Only a few zits on my cheek! πŸ˜€

I must say, even at the 4th session, it did improve quite a fair bit!

My complexion used to be way worse. As of now, I'm only battling scars and occasional zits phew! It may not show well in photos but I was never blessed with flawless complexion at all. Bummer!

My Body Secrets always gives your face a thorough cleanse at every session

See the zits on my cheeks? IPL helps to kill all the bacteria causing acne problems!

After the session in the changing room!

You can actually see the scars and open pores I have on my face in the above photo πŸ™

Two weeks later, I came round again for my 5th session.

My Body Secrets recommends 2 weeks at least for the skin to regenerate and the cells to do their magic!

Ya gotta change into the treatment robe before all sessions

Session 5

My complexion is slowly getting better, except for zits that attack me every now and then!

The light rays didn't make me twitch or cause as much discomfort anymore because a rubber roller was used

Don't get me wrong. IPLdoesn't hurt, it's just this jolt of light that makes your body go WOOOH!

This time round, My Body Secrets staff used the rubber roller thingy on my face before every few shots

It did help heaps! Apart from the cooling gel they apply generously on your face, the rubber roller cools down the skin surface and soothesit from the light rays πŸ™‚

Much better now πŸ˜€

My skin is almost clear. Yippee!

Today, after 2-3 weeks, I went for my last session πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

After getting changed and my face washed by the friendly staff, it was time to do the final shots

Session 6

The cooling gel was applied on my face like mayonaise to a hotdog LOL!

To be honest, my complexion is noticably clearer and brighter.

It is much softer too.. also due to those products I was recommended (Blogged about in the first post!)

This time, they used a much more advanced roller to calm the skin before the lightshot

It was a metal/steel roller which is much bigger! πŸ˜€ I like it!

This session caused me no discomfort at all. Pretty damn good, I must say!

Lucky you! When you go for your sessions, it will hardly have any sensation πŸ˜‰

They applied the Rehydrating Oxy Mask (which I've also shown you in the first post!) on my face after the session. As the skin's absorption rate rises after the IPL treatment – due to active cells – they recommended I apply this mask to restore my skin's hydration πŸ™‚

H20, come at me! πŸ˜€

Then, they applied a double mask on top of it

Haha this photo is pretty freaky I know!

The 2nd cooling mask was so cold and so soothing πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

They left me mask-ed for half an hour.

But since I was rushing for an appointment, they were smart enough to do the IPL Underarm Permanent Hair Removal for me while waiting for the mask to be finished πŸ™‚

My 3rd session for the underarms!

Begone with you, hair!

The underarms made such a brilliant progress! I used to pluck my underarm hair twice a week because I just hated the sight of any hair growing there at all.

Ya know the saying "Putcha hands up in the air!!"?

Can't really do that with liberation if there's icky hair there, right? Gross.

But now, at the 3rd session, I only need to pluck it once a month! Excellent!

Can't wait for it to be completely gone

Thank you, My Body Secrets for the amazing and effective sessions!! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

When I was back in Penang to visit during the weekend, my parents mentioned, "Jess, your complexion improved so much!". I was over the moon upon hearing that πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ Shows that it is really proven effective yay!

I can finally say goodbye to my acne-prone skin

There, a clearer photo for you of my naked complexion

YAY a step closer to awesome skin! Acne Treatment via Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) at My Body Secrets

October 19, 2011 by thejessicat

Remember my previous post on the Permanent Hair Removal treatment for underarms and other bodily hair?

That's not all. The wonders of IPL by My Body Secrets has impressed me once again.

Since it's proven effective for Acne problems too, I thought I'd also give this a try.

Who doesn't want better skin, right? Here's how it works :

IPL Acne Therapy is an effective new light-based therapeutic therapy is now revolutionizing the treatment of acne. The IPL Acne Therapy destroys the most common bacteria that cause acne — without drugs, without pain and without downtime.

IPL, “Intense Pulse Light” is one of the safest acne treatments available…proven to be extremely effective on moderate inflammatory acne. Its technology uses light that is UV-safe and has no known side effects.

I wouldn't actually consider myself having bad acne at the moment.

But liike many adolescents, I've always been battling acne back in my teenaged years. So it left many scars till now, and still enduring the slightly-more-than-occasional pimple popping up here and there. SO ANNOYING!!

Session 1

Yes I know, barenaked face completely without make up so unglam and ugly.

But I'm still showing you anyway for the purpose of this blogpost πŸ™‚

First, they will wash my face, pat it dry and apply a cold gel on my face with a brush before the IPL treatment

Session 2

The IPL treatment on my face was an equally fast and pain-free experience.

I generally have a high threshold of pain (6 piercings, 4 tattoos and counting!) but you should be just as fine.

It is just a slightly warm/hot sensation when the light penetrates your face πŸ™‚

Not exactly painful at all if you ask me – it'll be over in less than 10 minutes!

Washwash! πŸ™‚ My Body Secrets girls are very professional and accommodating too

'

As I had been really busy even back in Malaysia and had been away for a month in Australia recently, I wasn't able to be disciplined enough to go as often as every week as I ought to.   Hence why the results weren't as obvious as the underarm one.

So remember, when you begin this, you should commit to your sessions either weekly or fortnightly (as recommended by the therapist, as everyone's skin is different)

Session 3!

Now that I'm back in Malaysia, I shall be more disciplined to attend my sessions every week and update you guys on the progress/results! πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Oh and after you've done the IPL on your face, your facial skin will be slightly more sensitive and its absorption rate will be higher (so avoid direct sunlight for a week!).

So obviously, you would want to use better products on your face to quicken your progress πŸ™‚

It's not a must, but highly recommended if you want to see 100% results. I'll highlight the ones I'm using!

Cleansing Milk (for mature/aged/dry skin)
Foaming Cleanser (for acne/oily skin)

Green Herbal Tonic Lotion (for acne/oily skin)

Pink Tonic Lotion (for mature/aged/dry skin)

That's for Cleanse and Tone, now on to the extras!

Here are the ones available, I'll show you my faves πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€

Ta-daa! The range.

Maja International is an Australian brand which focuses on herbal ingredients + scientific formulas.

Go check 'em out if you want, I've linked their name to their website for yall to see.

Double Action Oxygel with Sunscreen (for normal to mature/dry skin)

Rehydrating Oxy Mask (for mature/dry skin)

Guava Facial Scrub (for all skin types)

*bestseller* Green Purifiying Face Mask (for normal to oily/acne-prone skin)

And these final two are my favorites!!

They work wonders on my skin :D

Triple Action Oxygel (it is tinted too, so I hardly use foundation anymore – this works perfectly!)

*bestseller* Oxygel (helps healing of acne scars & has anti-inflammatory properties!)

So far, it has only been my 3rd session.

Can't wait to see the progress of my skin and its improvements – will definitely share again once I'm done!

My Body Secrets is currently having a promotion!

If you like it and want to continue, you can opt to sign up a package –
