ZoukOut 2011 featuring DJ Chuckie, Avicii + Armin Van Buuren! Siloso Beach @ Sentosa Island, Singapore

January 23, 2012 by thejessicat

I know this is probably a month late but I kept having more and more things to blog about that Zouk Out completely slipped my mind! Pardon me… teehee!

So yeah, as expected, ZoukOut 2011 was an absolute wicked one.

Probably just as good as last year celebration of 10 years of ZoukOut, aka Zouk10ut if not better!

My gurls and I

So before we entered the main Siloso Beach of where ZoukOut '11 was to be held, the whole lot of us decided to dive straight into our own party. Pre-drinks at the adjacent beach.

Don't know what beach it is but it sure worked for us 😀

Chilling at the bench during pre-drinks

I miss my Aussieguest Carly 🙁

Come back to Malaysia soon!

Venessa and I

ZoukOut once more hey? 😉

Take two! 😀

We finished the bottle in a jiffy

We made friends with ol' McDonald from Detroit, USA!

Chugged my last glass in the water

Alright, that's a wrap!

Now that we're all pumped up, hyper and tipsy, it's time to adjourn for ZoukOut

Where the party began 4 hours ago!

Just three enthusiastic partylovers amongst hordes of  many others!

Correction: FOUR!

Correction: FIVE!

Correction: SEVEN!

And the number just kept growing

Once we entered, we started running helter skelter, exploring what this year's Zouk Out has to offer

Mostly the same good food, good things on sale and heaps of freebies up for grabs!

Went to the Havaianas outlet

Played with the giant inflatable flip-flop!

Bumped into an old friend, Adelyn 🙂

And a few others too – Danny and Charlene

See, we Penangites came all the way from the north for this yo ;)

After all the exploring and fun, we escaped to grab a bite of the nearest yummy food possible

Headed off to Mcdonalds!

Where I impulsively bought a slurpee cup with a red bikini on it :O

DOESN'T MATTER, HAD FOOD!

With our satiated tummies, we marched back to where the party's at, ZoukOut '11 awaits us

I've made a video compilation of my ZoukOut 2011 experience, watch out for it at the end of this post!

Got to the main stage pretty early to secure our spots

DJ Simon Dunmore was playing at that time

Raving with my buddies! Ze clan and I

Party vibe is building slowly! 😀

Squeeeeee! Carly piggybacked me 😀

Bumped into another Penangite, my old friend Sabrina 🙂

At last year's ZoukOut, I came to watch my 3 fave stars in 2010's line-up: Tiesto, David Guetta and Afrojack

This year, I came fully anticipating DJ Chuckie, Avicii and Armin Van Buuren

and……. DJ CHUCKIE IS UP! 😀

WHO IS READY TO JUMP? 😀

There were fireworks blasting across the sky as we partied!

DJ Chuckie kickstarted his set with a remix of Daft Punk's 'Around the World' and was playing various EDM tracks of his own including remixing those by David Guetta, Rihanna, Swedish House Mafia, Benny Benassi and more.

There were beer showers everywhere too!

His 2 hour set was pretty radical, I must say. I enjoyed watching DJ Chuckie's facial expressions too; they were so animated and at some parts comical! 😀 He also really knew how to work the crowd.

And then… it rained not confetti, not streamers… BUT GLITTER (Blimey, I actually thought it was sand!)

NEXT UP, GUESS WHO'S CRUNKING UP THE LEVELS AT 3AM?

Nobody else comes close to these nasty levels… IT'S AVICII! 😀

Got up to Level Two so fast that I had to blink twice before confirming that it was indeed 2 white girls

holding up the Malaysian flag while screaming AAAAAAAAAVIIIIIIIICIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!

So proud of my country's flag but then again, wait.. what? Malaysian flag? White girls? Avicii?

Am I missing something here?

Avicii's 2 hour set was stellar, just as I had imagined it to be

DJ SPIN THAT SH!T!

He shot the party to the skies the moment he appeared on the decks with 'Fade into Darkness' as his opening song before proceeding to his other popular tracks like 'Sunshine', 'Swede Dreams', 'Hello Miami', 'Freedom' and more.

The young Swede and rising starlet Avicii (aka Tim Berg) also remixed popular favorites like David Guetta's 'Titatium', Diddy's 'Coming Home', Nadia Ali & Alex Kenji's 'Pressure', Tiesto's 'Escape Me', Coldplay's 'Waterfall' and others.

While raving, the gigantic, transparent beach ball landed on our heads!

Ohhhhh~ Sometimes, I gotta good feeling

YEEEEEAH~

The feeling was surreal when Avicii played his debut 'Levels' right there and then.

To see 'Levels' playing LIVE RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES BY AVICII HIMSELF was unlike any other.

Everyone else in the crowd could relate; they were just as euphoric as I was!

Major love fo my gurls for the awesome company!

Sex dolls were flying everywhere.

Heck well, naked blow-up dolls, more of. They sure looked like sex dolls to me LOLOL

At 5am sharp, something bigger was coming our way.

Already almost at the crack of dawn, there was no sign of stopping us ravers from welcoming the World #1 trance legend for several years in a row, ARMIN VAN BUUREN! 😀 😀 😀

It started off with a big bang

He greeted his fans and loyal revellers with arms wide open!

Nothing could bring me down.

T'was amazing to finally rave to Armin Van Buuren LIVE and seeing him in the flesh after following his 'A State of Trance' (ASOT) episodes and yearmixes. *swoons*

OHMY. YES IT IS ARMIN. 3 METRES IN FRONTA ME

Ohmylord. Armin was so charming that night.. not to mention unbelievably talented too

When he spun Cosmic Gate feat. Emma Hewit's 'Be Your Sound', the crowd shut their eyes, jumped and traversed into an uplifting state of trance. :D:D

It was absolutely food for the soul

Bursts of confetti (and glitter!) were everywhere

More fireworks came in abundance too!

I recognized the songs from his yearmixes.. nothing beats hearing it LIVE.

The beach ball kept bouncing up and down amongst the crowd!

Rave it up, rave it good till the morning light!

He played till the sun came up

Now, here's my video montage of ZoukOut 2011 through my eyes 🙂

Experience it visually, embrace it and make sure I see you at this year's rave beach party of the year

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmmI8dTIwxU&feature=youtu.be

ENJOY!

Only a true rave begins outdoors with thousands of people, rising its temperature with triple the amount of people and ends waaaaayy past the sunrise 😀 😀

Every year, ZoukOut is a true pinacle of a rave party. ZoukOut 2012, we shall meet again

Johnnie Walker Black Circuit Label is back in town – with a sexy, exotic Brazilian twist!

December 18, 2011 by thejessicat

All things bold, stylish & delivered in black can only be epitomized with the Black Circuit Label series of exclusive parties. Yupyup, it's THAT amazing and more.

Think classy partying with fellow invited guests (money-can't-buy-passes!), free-flow of delicious Johnnie Walker Black Label Scotch whiskey and its cocktails, tapas food served to all & a stellar selection of entertainment line-up.

Jason and I at the entrance 😀

Two redheads in the house! 😉

Bumped into Linora and was surprised she dyed her hair red too!

There were heaps of mighty fine rides – owned by the rich & famous –  parked at the jockey area.

T'was all nicely in line as though partaking in an exhibition of sleek automobiles!

The official car for the event – a sexxxy Porsche Cayenne!

There was a whiskey appreciation booth as well.

So… how do you appreciate whiskey?

Sip it slowly , let it stay in your mouth for a bit and savour it.

Bumped into Kevin at the entrance! 😀

Had a very lovely official photograph by the photowall

(ignore random person on the right)

Walked into KL Live where the party has already started.

The stage was elaborately set-up and decorated with 2 regal lines of Johnnie Walker Black Label

Photos can't do it justice!

When I arrived, Mr. Gin had already begun playing.

He was good, got the party started pretty well!

But his music just ain't my kinda thing – R&B, hiphop and AT40 mainstream stuff

Chilled by the bar and indulged in Johnnie Walker's trio of signature cocktails

My favorite was the one named 'Black Circuit'. The Mojito one wasn't too bad, hey!

Had the cocktails alongside the bottle of Johnnie Walker Black Label

Brought some of them back to the table with me where my buddies are

Thanks for the photo, Radius!

Although it is beyond me why he would turn the photo monochrome

LOL okay back to colours! 😀

Performances soon began, there was a fire-twirling crew in the house!

Keep it flaming high guys!

Wooots!

We were entertained with a Brazilian samba dance too!

Heaps of Belly Dancers and super-flexible dancers wootwoot!

What's a party without bumping into your friends from everywhere? 🙂

At 11pm, t'was time for the next DJ of the night!

It was DJ Von Kiss hailing all the way from the US of A 🙂

I immediately took a liking for her when I saw her Skrillex-quarter-shaven head

Had the feeling she was gonna drop some wicked basslines throughout her 2 hour set

And I was right!

First time I see a group of dancers dancing to electronic music!

Not bad! They sure know how to rave

DJ Von Kiss played most of my favorite EDM tracks, electro-house-dubstep ones ranging from Steve Aoki, Avicii, Swedish House Mafia, Skrillex, UKF, Benny Benassi, Laidback Luke and more!

My rave kaki's and I had a ball of a time. You go, gurl!

Then came the Brazilian belly dancers again

Our local percussionists were thumping away as the dancers shook what their mama gave them hard!

They even mingled amongst the crowd and lured some of the partygoers on stage to samba away with them!

Bumped into some former colleagues & friends from the industry as well! 🙂

Ken Wei and I!

Ben and I! 🙂

Bervin and I 😀

Flanked by Vince and Ash ;)

Don't stop belly dancing yaw!

There was such a huge camaraderie on stage! It was fascinating to watch 😀

The entire stage was filled with dancing, music and so much hype!

But the star of the night was yet to make his way to the decks….

Clinton Sparks – I swear he is arguably one of the best performers I have *ever* seen LIVE

Why? Because he is unlike any other.

Never have I ever seen a DJ like him before. He spins, he scratches, he announces, he raps, he runs to the front of the stage and dances, he hypes up the crowd with his incredibly energetic ways, runs back to the DJ decks and drops an insane track, wickedly remixes a few versatile tracks from various genres and eras, jumps around, invites the crowd to the decks & stage and so much more which I really can't describe unless you watch him LIVE yourself.

Clinton Sparks is truly a performer, a talented DJ and an excellent entertainer all in one.

We were all amazed by his flawless performance!

And he grabbed my hand & shook it too! 😀 😀 😀 *swoons*

Even more partying as all the performers shared one stage to perform their expertise

Haha our local percussionists and the belly dancers really made me fell like there was indeed a melting pot of cultures on stage! Where Brazilian samba-belly-dance culture meets Malaysian kompang drummers!

It was indeed a sight to see

Shower of confetti! 😀 😀

As I left at 4AM, I spotted this booth.

Impressive! Looks like Johnnie Walkers really take their Never Drink and Drive policy seriously.

They provided heaps of mineral water alongside the breathalyzer test

Drunk driving is an absolute no-no!

Couldn't help taking another piccie of Johnnie Walker's Porsche Cayenne!

And yet again, Johnnie Walker Black Label proves an excellent indulgence and an eclectic mix of both partying and entertainment – not to mention delicious food as well! 🙂 Keep Walking, yo!

Week Recap : GLOBAL presents electro-pop Brazilian DJ ‘The Twelves’ + NSFW presents ‘Don’t Believe the Hype’ featuring electro German DJs Beens n YKEL

November 25, 2011 by thejessicat

Hola! A snippet of what I've been up to this week thus far.

Been busy with workies and of course, rave parties!

If you missed it, check out the wicked parties that has been happening throughout this week

GLOBAL presents 'The Twelve' @ Zouk Club KL

One of my rave-kakis, Pinpin!

The Twelves are an electro-pop duo that hit our Malaysian shores all the way from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil 🙂

Dubbed the Daft Punk of Brazil, The Twelves comprise Luciano Oliveira and João Miguel

Ready to watch them play?

Luciano Oliveira of The Twelves takes the turntables!

Work it, work it!

Bumped into so many pals I couldn't keep hold of everyone for a group photo!

So here we are again, just by the DJ decks

Next event is one of the famed NSFW raves we have in our local party scene

Don't Believe the Hype featuring DJ Rob 'Beens' & YKEL @ The Gardens Rooftop

They're hot, they play kick-ass electro beats and they sure know how to demolish the dance floor!

I'd just like to put it out there. Rob and Ykel are such warm & friendly lads to hang out with!

Rob and I was chatting in the afternoon and asked me to join them for drinks before their set – to which I did.

The boys DJ Rob 'Beens' and DJ YKEL

Hung out with the boys for a bit and we talked about heaps of stuff despite the loud music that was booming through the speakers! 🙂 YKEL taught me some simple German words haha!

As I *might* be in Europe for a week, Rob told me to check out their fave clubs in Germany 🙂

DJ Blink and Xu of LapSap, my local fave homeboy DJs were the opening act for the night

Was given heaps of Jagermeister shots too, thanks Rob!

Shotshotshots everybuddy!

At 1am, it was DJ Rob 'Beens' turn to tear up the DJ decks. His set was simply wicked!

His electro tracks boomed through the speakers and those infectious beats really got me going

Can youuuu feeeeeeeeeeeeeeel the paaartay escalate? 😀

An hour later, at 2am, DJ YKEL took to the decks and played alongside DJ Beens.

It turned up the party dial even harder. Double the DJs, double the fun!

Awesome shizz you guys had going!

They made my night truly spectacular.

Also, what made my day was that when I was shuffling and raving on the dance floor, a reader recognized me and was gracious enough to offer to buy me a drink! That was so nice of him 🙂

With reader Keem 🙂 Thanks again for the drink, my fave Baileys on the rocks

Dearest DJ Rob 'Beens' and YKEL, t'was a pleasure to get to know the both of you.

All the best for your gig this Friday & Saturday in Germany and haben einen sicheren flug!

My weekend in a bottle : Post-examination freedom, serial partying n’ gettin’ my Starbucks fix!

November 14, 2011 by thejessicat

And so the final examination season is finally over.

All the exam fever has subsided and it's time to rev up; full gear ahead!

Apart from the outings with the friends & family, I've been letting my hair down and turning up my party dial

So yeah! A short update, here's my weekend encapsulated in photos! (Photos courtesy of my homeboys, thanks!)

Barsonic @ Zouk night outs – OMFG Party

Going insanely supersonic folks!! 🙂

The music put us in a state of trippy trance! It was pumping beyond words, headbanging wasn't ever enough

DJs that spun for the night were DJ Blink of LapSap and the Bass Agents : DJ GanjaGuru & DJ Didjital

Pub-crawling/bar-hopping @ Changkat Bukit Bintang

Twenty.One Kitchen & Bar, Finnegan's Irish Bar and a few others of which I don't remember 🙂

Music was diverse, as we patronized many different outlets along that belt of vibrancy

The night ended pretty swell. Was fun and smexy! 😉

House-party with the bunch @ PJ8 Suites

Because there is simply one rule set by our host : No one goes home sober

Almost finishing the grim concoction of the King's Cup.

Why do I never have any luck? 🙁

You know the night starts to get trippy when you see your friend talking to your cat

Truth…. or dare? One for the boys!

So the houseparty was mad, think Vodka infused watermelons, King's Cup… and others.

It kept going till the morning light and ended with some Hong Kong Dim Sum breakfast!

If you were wondering, yes I have been pretty much nocturnal for the past week.

Apart from that, I did indulge in the occasional daytime activities.

Kicked back a simple day of grocery shopping with my housies

(I know I look extremely plain and kiddish without make up)

Shopping and getting my usual Starbucks fix with my gurls

Plus, I got myself the Starbucks christmas edition of their Loyalty Card!

It's lovely and comes with heaps of perks too 😀

Ta-daaaa. All 3 cards (look at the pretty limited edition red one!) You jelly? 😀

Go get yours now at your nearest Starbucks! Hurry up cos the red one is extremely limited.

I *almost* chose the red one but I was too enticed by the adorable snowman!!!!

RAGE!!!!!!! #firstworldproblems

That being said, have a great week ahead ladies & gents

Back from Zouk Out 2010 @ Siloso Beach Sentosa Island, Singapore! Afrojack, Tiesto n David Guetta FTW

December 13, 2010 by thejessicat

ere

Fancy having no sleep entirely, getting rained on with ice-cold beer and raving all night long? Laser beams, hardcore electro-trance and house blasting the night (and morning) all the way in the 12 hour rave beach party.

Siloso Beach, along Sentosa Island across Singapore. Ain't no where but here with these electro maestros last night. You bet.

Partyin' it up by the beach with legendary DJ and trance masters flying all over the world just for one world, one music, one tribe, one dance. All in ONE night.

Of raving it on with loved ones, friends coming from far flung places, my gurls, new friends and fellow party heads. Can I get an encore? I could get used to this

What can I say? It was mindblowing. I dragged myself home the next morning after lots of goodbye hugs; all drained out with nothing but zero energy and hundreds of photographed memories captured

Laidback Luke, Dubfire and so many more were the bomb. But a 120 minutes of insanity from EACH the stars of the night was unlike any other. Afrojack was fab, Tiesto was godlike and David Guetta was simply phenomenal.

So much more to come! 🙂 🙂

But now, it's time fo some beauty sleep. Felt as though I haven't slept in 30 days and 30 nights. Here's hoping I'm not getting too old for this kind of mayhem. *hic*
