Back from Avenged Sevenfold LIVE in Malaysia 2012!

April 30, 2012 by thejessicat

Finally, back from the Avenged Sevenfold concert held in Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach!

As a rockerchick deep down (though not an ardent fan of metal music) I must say I enjoyed my two hours worth of A7X's hard rock & heavy metal.

M.Shadows rocking the stage with his gritty, powerful voice

They were nothing short of amazing!!

The turn-out blew me away; it was success! A total of at least 15,000 people rocked up to the event

A7X performed 13 songs altogether – beginning with 'Nightmare' and ended with 'Unholy Confessions'

Zacky Vengeance & Synyster Gates rocking the surf beach down with their deft guitar skills

This is just a little sneak-peak preview post 😉

Stay tuned for the main blogpost that's gonna be a massive load of photos & a video of the night!

Till then, AVENGED SEVENFOLD FTW!

Major credits to TuneTalk for working so hard to bring A7X down to Malaysia and serving us a heavy dose of powerful rock, metal, amazing guitar solos, drum solos, heaps of screaming & headbanging today!

Good night fellow rockers & metalheads!

Simple Plan LIVE in Malaysia! Get Your Heart On tour @ KL Live, Kuala Lumpur

February 15, 2012 by thejessicat

I was that kid who grew up with Simple Plan's music in high school.

Yup. one of those millions of kids all over world.

And now, a decade later…..

They land in Malaysia; performing in front of our very own eyes!

It was not only surreal; it was a dream come true.

And I know I speak for many youths and even adults out there!

At 9pm sharp, Simple Plan came out with gusto and a grand entrance!

They introduced themselves, greeted their fans and burst into their first song of the night, 'Shut Up'.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od6V8EGiNPM

Simple Plan – Shut Up

Next up was their favorite song from their latest album, 'Can't Keep My Hands of You' and 'Jump'

Wiggle wiggle wiggle!

Loved the way they performed those two ;twas cheeky and cute! ;)

Hundreds of screaming fans at the Kuala Lumpur stop of Simple Plan's Get Your Heart On tour

What came as a surprise was when Simple Plan sang a cover of Black Eyed Peas 'Goodnight'.

Pretty damn good a rendition, if I do say so myself!

'When I'm Gone' came up next. Lead singer Pierre Bouvier extended his hand to shake hands with his zealous fans at the mosh pit!

Watch the footage for yourself! 🙂

Simple Plan – When I'm Gone

The next song that they performed rocked the socks right outta me.

I was yelling/singing along to one of my favorites from Simple Plan, 'Addicted' with many other fellow fans!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPVd7bmBkDU

Simple Plan – Addicted

All the members of Simple Plan began to interact and engage with their fans, holding a friendly "competition" to see whose side of the stage sang/cheered louder than the other.

They cued the crowd to sing along with them.. or rather, SCREAM ALONG!

'My Alien' came up next, followed by 'You Suck at Love'.

What I found really ingenious was when Simple Plan sang their next song 'Thank You', they sang a local version of it!

Yup, you read right.

They sang the song in Bahasa Malaysia; replacing the lyrics of the chorus with TERIMA KASIH instead of the English THANK YOU

TERIMA KASIH! TERIMA KASIH! TERIMA KASIH!

After they performed 'Your Love is Just a Lie', the stage lighting faded into darkness.

Simple Plan gave a cue for the audience to hold up their phones and wave them in the air with their screen backlight turned on and they began to perform 'Astronaut'.

So clever! Sending SOS from this tiny box indeed – using our cellphones!

The band proceeded to sing 'Summer Paradise' before belting out more cover songs

This time, it was a cover of Cee-Lo's 'F*ck You', Taio Cruz' 'Dynamite' and Pink's 'Raise Your Glass'.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuUkoDeEjRw

Simple Plan – cover of Pink's 'Raise Your Glass'

It was stellar! Two thumbs up!

Like many others, theboyfie and I enjoyed their spontaneous rendition of those songs.

A dramatic build-up in the midst of their performing 'Jetlagged' and the backdrop changed – unveiling a new one altogether.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-UicmLeJLM

Simple Plan – Jetlagged

They continued spreading their contagious energy drive and continued their 2-hour set with 'This Song Saved My Life', 'Welcome to My Life', 'I'd Do Anything'.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uWZoUtAakNI

Simple Plan – Welcome to My Life

When they left the stage and the entire concert venue was shrouded in darkness, the fans were certainly not ready to go home yet.

Chantings of ENCORE were heard bellowing from all sides of the crowd and after a few minutes….

The band came back on stage with 'Loser of the Year'! 😀 😀

Emotions and nostalgia came rushing back to me when they began to sing my favorite Simple Plan song of all time.

Their very FIRST single that they released back in 2002 from their first album 'No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls'.

Please take a moment of silence and watch the footage below with smiles (and occasional headbangs)

No wait, scratch that.. JUST SING A LONG with them just like I did!!!! 😀 😀

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gX7m066TfnE

Simple Plan – I'm Just a Kid

LOL you can actually hear me scream-singing.

They wrapped up their gig with a beautiful song, 'Perfect'.

Many people were seen joining hands and singing along to the said melancholic and meaningful choon with the band and everyone else.

It was a wonderful gig, I can totally vouch for that!

All the top favorite songs from all their albums were performed with so much enthusiasm and the energy-driven concert was just unbelievable! So much joy, nostalgia and headbanging resonated from wall to wall!

Thank TuneTalk for bringing Simple Plan down to Malaysia for their series of 'No Big Deal Lah' concerts!

If it weren't for TuneTalk, we wouldn't be able to have the amazing pop-punk-rock band performing right in our city

For that, THANK YOU VERY MUCH TUNE TALK! The first of many more concerts to come!

Credits also go to both my awesome assistants for the day, Pamela for helping me out in the afternoon at Simple Plan 'Get Your Heart On' tour Press Conference and Kon for shooting the footages of this concert night.

Theboyfie also got me the Simple Plan band T-Shirt as a memorabilia for tonight's amazing event!

Loving them for more than a decade, clearly there will always be a part of me that belongs to Simple Plan

Simple Plan speaks! Press Conference : ‘Get Your Heart On!’ Malaysia tour

January 15, 2012 by thejessicat

In conjunction with the release of their 4th and latest album 'Get Your Heart On!', we were lucky enough to have Simple Plan right here at our Malaysian soil as one of their stops for their tour just yesterday afternoon.

Yup, you read right.

The band rocked Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia at 8pm in KL Live last night!

I arrived at 2.30pm to attend the press conference with my assistant of the day, Pamela 🙂

Thanks for all the help & company!

Wow. Talk about dedicated fans.

There was already a queue as early as 6 hours before Simple Plan's concert!

CEO of Tune Talk Mobile Prepaid, Jason Lo, welcomed us and spoke extensively regarding the concert and what to expect for the night.

"This is the first of many to come! Our next acts will be Avril Lavigne, Jessie J and more,"

Jason Lo shares

I bet all Malaysian Simple Plan fans were ecstatic being able to catch their favorite punk rock band perform right in front of their eyes.

Well, guess what? This is just the beginning.

Jason Lo speaking

Simple Plan was brought down to Malaysia thanks to Tune Talk – in collaboration with JS Concert Productions and Fat Boys – as part of their 'No Big Deal lah' series of concerts.

Next was local band 'The Revellers', winner of the band search competition to open for Simple Plan's gig

They were personally handpicked by Simple Plan

When asked why they were chosen, Simple Plan said that it was "all about the music…"

Good on yall, guys! 🙂 Make Malaysia proud hey?

Simple Plan being welcomed by the MC

During the interview, I managed to ask them a couple of questions.

Jessicat: What is your favorite song from your latest album 'Get Your Heart On!' and why?

Pierre: "I would say 'Can't Keep My Hands Off You'. It talks about getting down, know what I'm saying, gurl?"

Nice one! Oh I definitely know what you're sayin' Pierre. *winkwink*

Next question:

Jessicat: Where's your next stop after Malaysia and what are the future plans?

Pierre: Singapore is the next stop.. then Indonesia, Japan. We'll be doing a Canadian tour, a European tour, Australia… all over the world.

Cool beans. Looks like there's no stopping the band after 10 years! Amazing

They were part of my teenage years, my friends' and I's all-time favorite punk rock band ever.

I'm sure many can relate!

Members of Simple Plan sharing a light banter with the MC

When asked, they mentioned that they loved the Malaysian heat!

Chuck Comeau (drums & percussions) speaking:

"It's -15 degrees in Canada, a snow storm at home right now.

We're very happy to be here, wearing shorts & Tshirts, it's awesome!"

Bumped into Jason (and his adorable son)

(his head happens to be at the bottom of the photo LOL!)

He asked me, "Are you ready for tonight? You better be!"

Is that even a question? Hell to the yeah I am! 🙂 🙂

Their concert was amazing. Take it from me, a true Simple Plan fan since their old skool days of 2002.

As a teenager, I used to have posters of them back then, compiled all my favorite songs of Simple Plan's albums and blast them in my room, rocking out all by myself while jumping on the bed playing an air guitar

Stay tuned for the coverage of Simple Plan's concert last night.

Heaps of photos + videos coming your way! 😉

I saw Mariah Carey fall down onstage during her concert in Singapore – dangerous for pregnancy!

November 23, 2010 by thejessicat

So most of you would know that I attended Mariah Carey's concert when I was down in Singapore for the F1 Grand Prix a month ago. Haven't really found the time to do up this blogpost. But I figured that I should finally get round to it 🙂

Seeing diva Mariah Carey perform live in the flesh and belting her lungs out before me was indeed a great honour.

An outfit change of 3-4 times during the performance!

Many thanks to Maxis and Nuffnang for the opportunity. She was exactly what I had envisioned her to be – except probably a tad bigger. Heh.

Though logically, she is bound to look tiny standing on this gigantic stage.

little Mariah amidst thousands of people

When her concert began, there was a sudden burst of digital butterflies all around the backdrop screen. They were fluttering around for quite some time before she finally came onstage to sing the 1st song of tonight.

'Obsessed' was the first song of the hour

As expected, thousands and thousands of fans were screaming ecstatically upon seeing her

After her song, Mariah complimented the weather in Singapore. LOL very common topic to begin a conversation I must say 😛

She mentioned that it was really "so nice and hot here".

Then she went on dancing and singing the rest of her popular songs from various albums. Even from the really old ones from Glitter of 2001 and Charmbracelet of 2002 to the more current ones like E=MC² of 2008

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Le_jSMX62GY

Shot a video of her performing 'It's Like That'

I wasn't really familiar with all her songs as I ain't a huge fan, but after looking through the net, I spotted some familiar songs from those albums.

I sing you listen, class! Ya hear me? 😛 😛

She sang with gusto and her powerful voice reverberated throughout Zone IV

So much so that some friends even texted me asking "is that Mariah's voice I hear?"

When they were snug in the hotel room away from the concert arena!

The ones I loved were 'Through the Rain' and 'Touch My Body'

She was fabulous, singing it live!

Mariah Carey was every bit of a diva the media portrayed her to be.

She had diva moments aplenty and requested publicly for water onstage as well as a stand fan to be blown towards her direction. She also complained of tiredness and thirst!

Ermm.. I thought you said it was "nice and hot" a moment ago, Mariah? 😛 😛

Not too nice anymore huh? 😀 Asian weather. Too humid, no?

After complaining about her fatigue and how her feet hurt due to her new pair of heels,

the crew brought in a sofa for her.

How much more diva-ish can any diva possibly get on stage? O__o

While resting on the sofa, she chit-chatted with the crowd a little about how she was inspired by her godmother (whom I found out was Patti LaBelle!!!) who was comfy with her fans as well.

She then mentioned a bit about how she wanted to take an example to be just as comfy as she can, with us.

After apologizing to the crowd about her 'diva'ness, She continued performing even more songs as we sang along with her.

Shortly after, Mariah called for the crew to adjust and change her high heels.

So someone came onstage upon her call…

… and started fiddling with her footwear WHILE she was performing & dancing.

However, Mariah still didn't seem to have proper balance even after her shoes were fixed. Seriously, it makes me wonder how many inches of platforms she was prancing around in.

Constantly needed a helping hand with every few movements

Her movements were slightly deterred and she was tripping – needing literally more back support of the back-up dancers

HENCE THE TERM "BACK-UP" DANCERS HAHAHAH GEDDIT GEDDIT? ok lame. kthxbai.

I had the feeling she was going to fall off the stage or onstage.

Either way, it's gonna be nasty

After a few seconds, her facial expression changed.

Her knees seemed wobblier than usual and her hands were outstretched more often

And that's when I knew……….

SHE WAS INDEED GOING TO FALL!!!!

I WAS RIGHT!!

After a few struggles and clutching onto her dancers, Mariah began tumbling down….

DOWN DOWN

DOWWWNNNNN

At least she didn't topple over exposing anything nor fell flat on her face.

But she fell down flat on her buttocks crossed legged ala sitting position followed by a "thud" sound

What a graceful way to fall

Many people came to her aid, especially the back-up dancers and crew members.

But she brushed them aside and said "I'm okay! I'll be fine"

The best part was that she knew how to laugh at herself, instead of being emotional or creating drama of any sort.

"OH MY! YOUTUBE WILL BE ON FIRE AFTER THIS!

ALL OF YOU DESERVE A REFUND WATCHING ME FALL"

and she giggled.

But she got back up with the speed of light!! O__o

Thankfully without ripping her stockings or anything. Bravo!

This gutsy woman then continued braving whatever pain she *might* have felt during the fall and carried on her performance anyway.

Little did we all know that she was actually already pregnant!

It's really deleterious for a preggers lady to fall down.

Much less strutting all over stage with her killer high heels!

Later that night, she shared the stage with her good friend.

I'm sorry I didn't catch his name!

Another outfit change. So typical of Mariah Carey 😀

Ya know those kinds of diva/big shots who will always have outfit changes during performances?!

Yep, she's one of 'em! 😀

But what can I say?

Although I'm no hardcore fan of hers, she was fantastic on stage – albeit cracking a few lame bimbo jokes or two of course.

But it was all gooooooood.

Her signature squeals can really hit all the drastically sky-high notes beyond words!

I bet that would be an understatement already but how many people have actually saw her live in action doing it?? That's why I just HAVE to say it. She was really that good, heard with my very own ears (without autotune, nothing!) directly within my line of vision. *bows*

Props go to her back up dancers as well.

They fired up the energy and the mood pretty damn good!

Just before it was about to end, there was a poignant moment.

She got down on her knees and had a "personal" moment with her fans in front.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HkvnfNGXXlw

Just call my name…. and I'll be there~

Couldn't really hear what she was saying though but through video close ups of the fans faces, I could see some of them had tears in their eyes.

Thank you Mariah for touching the hearts of your fans

At least the ones in front LOL

YOU ARE A STAR AND WILL ALWAYS BE THE #1 DIVA OF ALL TIME!!!!

Congratulations on your pregnancy and towards motherhood!

I wish you well.

Back from Paramore LIVE in KL, Malaysia! Photos of Hayley Willams rocking Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil

October 20, 2010 by thejessicat

Just got back from the concert!!

I brought a good friend Andrea there to the gig with me and goodness gracious, we felt so muted after it all – screaming and jumping along with Hayley & her rocksome band! 😀

After local punk-rock band Y2K opened for them, Paramore ripped the stage to shreds and shot us all sky high!

Now this concert, is what I'd call a riot!

We were also practically drenched in our own sweat, with so much headbanging, yelling our lungs out. dancing & everything else!

Lots of people fell down from all the insane pushing and shoving. In the Rock Zone ,there was a mini riot between the partygoers as well! Yup, it's one rough and tough night alright 😀

My lips were bleeding as someone knocked my teeth and somehow cut it.

BUT IT'S OKAY! I'm still alive LOL

All in the name of a rock concert. You want a rock concert? You GET a rock concert!

The rowdier, the better.. YEAHH??
HELL YEAH.

Also, I had real good fun screaming along to some of my fave songs like 'Brick by Boring Brick', 'Crush Crush Crush', 'Decode', 'Misery Business' and most definitely, 'Only Exception'.

Those were only SOME of the many songs they rocked the stage with tonight! Many more & acoustics too 🙂

yay picture of the lovely & adorable punk rocker Hayley Williams! 🙂

High5* to a fellow red-head yo

So glad to have seen her live with my very own eyes. I've been a diehard fan of Paramore for years and years now as previously mentioned [here]. Also felt so comfy in my element tonight! Met so many other fellow red-heads amongst the 8000 revellers at the gig too.

Many thanks, Tune Talk, for bringing them down to Malaysia!

Oh and, the rain of sparks throughout the concert were simply impressive, likewise the burst of golden yellow leaves & bright red hearts at the very end!

So many more things happened! 😀  If you've been following my tweets on #ParamoreKL you would've known hehe

I've got lots more to share with you, but let's leave it for the full blogpost alright? 😀 Gotta hit the sack now!

Nightey nights my rocksome people! 😀 😀
