Hennessy Artistry parties – two shots, please!

June 20, 2013 by thejessicat

I’ve just returned from my beloved island from an immensely hardcore party!

But no, I’m not going to write about that just yet.

Instead, I’ll be sharing with you a star-studded and posh night made of all things glamorous.

Just a quickie blog feature though. Enter: Hennessy Artistry Penang and Hennessy Artistry KL!

Ahhhh yes that oh-so-familiar bottle of rich, smooth blend of cognac

My fave blend amongst all Hennessy cocktails.

Unlike the previous one held at Straits Quay Convention Centre, Hennessy threw this party with equal force at the other end of the island instead, at the Subterranean Penang International Conference & Exhibition Centre, or fondly (and conveniently!) known as SPICE Penang.

Again, I looked forward to returning to my quaint yet exciting island for another round of epic parties.

Arriving SPICE Penang for Hennessy Artistry.

As I reached the venue rather late into the night, I missed the earlier performances and only got to watch the two DJs of the night, Andy Murphy and Nicole Chen. But hey, I was cool with that! Electronic dance music has always been my thing. heart

DJ Andy Murphy on the decks with his thumping electronica set

I was lucky enough to have a word with him when I spotted him sitting on the couch beside mine at the VIP Zone. What are the odds?

Usually, DJs hangout backstage. But he was also given a table to party and host a bunch of his friends who came.

DJ Andy Murphy and I

Upon posting up this photo on Instagram, an Australian DJ friend of mine told me that Andy is really one of the nicest DJs he has ever met and spoken too. I couldn’t agree more!

Not only was he talented on the turn-tables, Andy was such a sweetheart! So easy-going, friendly and fun to talk to! We managed to strike a decent conversation that night. laugh

I had a brilliant time raving to his music while catching up with my homies from the island!

Here are some party photos with my Penang buddies and I.

Ivyonne and I

Chris and I

Krystal and I

Alton and I

and a whole lot more whom I didn’t manage to take photos with! blush

I think this shows how much everyone was enjoying themselves that night.

The final DJ of the night Nicole Chen

I actually had heaps of fun with her music!

Her set was versatile with much emphasis on Dutch-house, slightly wicked and very progressive.

More party photos anyone? wink

Here are some I managed to snap with my KL buddies!

The night was a fantastic one; lots of catching up over good music and Hennessy’s signature cocktails.

I personally had a lot of fun for those good few hours with all my partymates and even bumped into old friends. Yup, you tend to get that a lot if you’re from such a warm and cosy island like Penang – where everyone knows everyone LOL

May 25, 2013 | Thank you @HennessyMY for another great #party! I had a great time ❤ #hennessyartistry #penang by imthejessicat on Keek.com

With that being said…

Three cheers to Hennessy for a fun night! Hip hip.. hurrah! yesyesyes

Moving on to Hennessy Artistry KL!

Though it’s pretty late to post this now but since we’re on the topic of  Hennessy Artistry Penang, I figured that I’m not gonna skip making a quick post about it at the same time. wink

Arriving KWC KL with my fave partymates of the night! heart

BF & the BFF.

Haha adapting a totally different style than I did for Hennessy Artistry Penang!

As compared to one of elegance in the latter,I was decked out in a more edgy look tonight.

Hosts of the night, Julie Woon and Nadia Heng giving us guests warm welcome!

The line-up of the night was undeniably a stellar, show-stopping one of international recognition.

I could remember not putting my drinks down as I rode high on the waves of all the performances!

The performers of the night were:

Mr. Nasty and GuruGuru

They’re arguably my fave DJs in Malaysia!

Playing a deep, eclectic, bass-jacking and much faster electronica beats like techno, hardstyle, hard trance

and the like, this dynamic duo certainly got me fist-pumping all night.

Beatboxer Koujee takes the stage pumping up the atmosphere with his vocal beats!

The dancers were off the hook as well!

I loved their outfit for the night! So simple yet dark and speaks a volume of attitude.

When Dutch powerhouse Eva Simons took to the stage, the crowd came to a near rapture!

She literally took over control of the night as she belted out her collabo track with Afrojack, ‘Take Over Control’.

We continued dancing and partying hard to Eva when she sang

‘This is Love’ collaborated with Will.I.Am of Black Eyed Peas fame.

Don’t stop the partaaayy!

My party levels shot to an even higher scale when Angger Dimas blasted his two-hour set.

Told you. I love listening to deep, electronica acoustic sounds of DJs of all sorts.

He performed, as usual, a hard and progressive set which nailed it completely!

Progressive trance, electro-house, big room and dubstep permeated the scene that night.

Angger Dimas / Jessicat

Just like the previous Hennessy Artistry parties, I got to grab a quick photo with the DJs that made my night.

Mad respect for you! Such talent and impeccable taste in remixing fresh sounds of original tracks.

Also stole a picture with the boys of B.A.T.E

The night went on and partygoers were seen brimming with energy even in the wee hours of the morning. I was no exception! Angger Dimas’ music kept me going all night.

It was like fuel I was feeding off from. yes

Make way for some party photos with my buddies before I head off to bed!

Jessicat / Rob

My boy. No introduction needed heart

One drink too many? laugh

Pammy / Jessicat

Jessicat / Kevin

There were so many other partymates and friends whom I bumped into but didn’t manage to grab a quick photo. Perhaps I was enjoying the music too much by the middle and towards end of the night! yes

Once I was on a row, raving to the music and downing shots of Hennessy was all that mattered.

Thank you Hennessy Malaysia, for having me at all your Hennessy Artistry’s since 2009!

It’s a party I’d never want to give a miss wink

Check out the other places I have went to such as Zouk and Envy if you want more of my adventures.

A weekend getaway at The Philea Resort & Spa, Melaka! I am a Papulex Truthseeker (Part 4): Retreat Challenge

February 1, 2013 by thejessicat

All my bags were packed and I'm ready to go. I was already anticipating this trip for a month!

To where, you ask? Thanks to Papulex Asia, I was off for a weekend retreat back to nature and tranquility in the lush outbacks of Malacca.

Waking up early on a Saturday morning for this roadtrip

After two hours on the road, we arrived our destination – The Philea Resort & Spa, Melaka – at noon.

It was a enormous and superbly furnished eco-resort which boasted authentic pine-log architecture and rustic interior design.

Here are some photos I shot of The Philea's interor :

Lobby/waiting area/drinks area

Bar/Lounge Area

Outdoor concourse

There was a water feature fringing the resort with the MOST amount of Koi fish I've ever seen

These fishes respond to vibration and sound very attentively, as it was their cue to feeding time.

We teased the fishes and tapped the glass walls at different spots so as to confuse them teehee!

Me standing by the pond. You can hardly see the Koi but the school of fishes came in massive numbers.

It was time to begin our day in Malacca with an ice-breaking and introductory session.

A light brunch was provided before Papulex Asia started the ball rolling.

So happy there was a wide array of Lipton tea!

I'm such a tea fag I almost wanted to take all the sachets to drink later

A picture with the girls, Shazwani and Ivy during the ice-breaking session

After the introductory session, we were all required to play a game which involved teamwork.

That ever-popular form the longest line with everything and everything you have on you.

My team mate QuaChee and I forming our line

My other team mate Hafiz and I continuing our line!

Being one to be competitive, I removed all my bangles, rings, earrings, parts of my clothes and more LOL

Here are some of the items from our team and the other team

Lining them all up!

When it was all over and done with – well almost, as nobody wanted to strip their clothing off haha! – the longest line was measured and our team won!! Hurrah!

We did well; I'm so proud. The three of us hit it off well in pushing for the longest line. Think EVERYTHING : cellphones, belts, socks, and yes, even shoelaces haha!

With my team mates QuaChee and Hafiz posing by our line of items

Fun times had to come to an end. It was now time for the more serious part of this session.

The sharing session, the experience, the history and our past with regards to this campaign and more.

My essentials for the mini seminar provided by The Philea

Me sharing a little bit more about myself, my point of view and the battles I fought against acne

All of us Papulex Truthseekers – Team Malaysia!

Once that was over, it was already mid afternoon and our tummies were growling.

Lunchtime was at one of the restaurants in the hotel, with a continental concept – Cravo Cravo

Hafiz and I goofing around while walking over to lunch

Spotted this giant wooden throne with a ship steering helm at the entrance of Cravo Cravo!

Couldn't resist a photo with it.

The continental and Asian fare in Cravo Cravo left me spoilt for choice.

It was amazing how endless the selection can get. Here are some of the dishes from the buffet :

Bite-sized goodness

Carved roast beef

Desserts

Here are some of the stuff I took for myself

I didn't bother taking photos of the main meals as I was already hungry and couldn't wait to dig in

Lunchtime at the long table saw us catching up with each other and talking about everything under the sun.

Before we knew it, it was time to check into our rooms.

Got our room key-card and guest booklet!

The Philea sent us a chauffeur to take us to our rooms which was located at another zone of the resort.

We occupied two buggies to be driven off further into nature!

Bye! We were about to adjourn!

As the buggy drove deeper and deeper into what felt like a secluded bay of pristine forest giants with waterfalls cascading along stone walls and gigantic, lush greeneries engulfing me, I knew this weekend would be the most serene and tranquil one I've had so far this year.

Here are some photos of the short journey to my room:

Along the cobblestone walkway towards the chalets

Beautiful pine-log cabins fringed the gravel path

Roaring waterfalls at the bridge and swimming area

Steps leading towards the bridge

An aerial view of the swimming area (adult and children)

Weather-worn, wooden fence posts covered by damp moss from the morning drizzle

Approaching my cabin shortly!

What I'd typically do the moment I arrived

Wow looks like they know me pretty well, putting a giant convex mirror in front of my cabin

Haha kidding! It's obviously a security measure to allow buggies to see each other lest they collide at one of the many bends in this nature resort.

Quite coincidentally, my cabin was right in front of the gym and the spa. Can they read my mind or what?

My home in the woods for the weekend!

I climbed the wooden staircase; they didn't creak as I had expected it to, and no gnomes were in sight.

Okay, I think I get taken away by fairy tales sometimes.

The moment I stepped into my cabin, my jaw hung with astoundment and I knew for a fact that my eyes were gleaming in delight. Was this really where I was going to be put up for the next two days?

Here, be amazed for yourself!

My king-sized bed!

My desk!

My bathroom! (It had a  giant bath too, so you can be sure that I had a hot bubble-bath thereafter)

I jumped on the bed, stretched like a yawning cat on my comfy bed and watched some telly

What am I doing? I don't even watch telly. At all.

Perhaps its the holiday mindset that's doing this to me. Haha!

We were required to gather at the outdoor concourse for a treasure hunt game.

Being briefed on the rules before we set-off on our hunt

Here's my task!

I was brimming with energy and adrenalin caught me on a choke-hold the moment I read it.

Always up for a good game, I had one goal in mind – to win this challenge!

The fastest, most alert and smartest player will win. I hope it'll be me.

(Okay, I didn't know this is how I look when I run. So unglam LOL)

My closest rival was QuaChee.

We always found the next clues at the same time and as a fellow fitness buff, he was pretty darn quick too

We raced to the finish line and sprinted all the way! In the end, he won the challenge.

Great job! Good game, mate

Perspiring heavily and sapped off our energy levels,

I reckon we were looking like zombie grub by the end of the afternoon

Game over. That was a good exercise. It gave me exactly the rush I needed.

I think I pretty much crashed on the bed by the time I trudged all the way back to my cabin.

But I recharged quickly and dressed down for an evening dip at the giant swimming pool!

It's time to work the cardio in the swimming pool today!

The swimming pool was mine and mine to dominate!

Waddling in the pool like a duck, swimming like a puppy and

lying on my back floating allowing the world to pass me by

Hey, it isn't everyday I just take a weekend away from the busy city to do absolutely nothing but relax.

The team behind Papulex Asia are amazing. Knowing that stress, tension and dirty/dusty city environment does contribute to acne and pimples, this weekend getaway to be one with nature was perfectly what we needed.

QuaChee and I in the pool

Walked back to my cabin after that fulfilling swim and had a long, hot bubble-bath.

I think I fell asleep at some point. Aromatherapy and relaxation does that to me.

We set off for dinner at another one of The Philea's restaurants – Bayu Cabana by the scenic river front and pool side. We had a warm and scrumptious steamboat meal altogether!

All of us!

The desserts stole my heart

All of us enjoyed the dinner which seemed to keep coming and coming!

The chef kept refilling our steamboat pot and even helped me break open my crab. Yeah, I fail on all levels peeling crabs and prawns. How sad, I know. But he was nice enough to offer!

What's a weekend without good music and a few drinks? I had my favourite

White Russian at Chiillout Bar with some of the rest who was up for sprucing up their Saturday night

I headed back to my cabin a little after midnight.

Spent some me-time writing a few blog posts and surfing all my social media channels before I said goodnight to my fluffy pillows and crisp white sheets. I had the bed all to myself!

Had a good sleep, I must say, as I woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

For once, it felt different to wake up to the sweet melody of the birds in the morning, chirping of crickets and opening your windows to the smell of fresh, moist dew instead of being rudely awaken by cars blaring their honks or clanging from a nearby construction site.

Breakfast at another one of their restaurants – Nusantara!

Their fare presented an impressive choice of both international and Asian cuisines.

There were so much to choose from and I had breakfast like a King!

My breakfast! I couldn't finish it all :/

We gathered at the al-fresco lounge and waited for the session with Dr. Hew Yin Keat, a professional skin specialist.

He's also the owner and Medical Director of M.A.C – Malaysian Aesthetic Clinic.

His clinic in Bangsar Shopping Center offers medical aesthetic procedures, corrective skincare and rejuvenation treatments without surgery, fusing science and aesthetics together!  So you know where to go now, aight?

That's M.A.C (Malaysian Aesthetic Clinic) for you. Call for appointments : 03-20936136

The Question & Answer session was so enlightening!

Dr. Hew was patient, informative, explained so well in layman's terms and had a great sense of humour too

It went on with a rather intense discussion and sharing-learning session from Dr. Hew

Apart from the basic causes of acne, he also imparted us the knowledge of different types of acne, ways to prevent it and how to treat the infection if it spreads out of control.

Dr. Hew also showed us samples of procedures and their before & after results

Why we look so solemn and serious in the photo, is beyond me. Most likely he's showing us one of the most horrible skin conditions he has treated before and our minds were like "OH MY GOSH THAT'S SO DREADFUL".

After the sharing session, they held a quiz for us to test how much we know and have learnt about this entire campaign so far. Then it was time to check out and leave The Philea. I don't wanna go! I'll be fine living here forever LOL

We all headed to Malacca town to do a little bit of shopping and food hunt

I had a wonderful time being a Papulex Truthseeker. It was one heck of a ride!

…and you're reading Part Four now!

All of us! Team Malaysia consisting of us bloggers and the Papulex Asia representatives

From knowing and understanding the history of my skin condition, the true root causes of acne, spreading the truth and busting myths about acne, propagating confidence to other acne-ridden people, and introducing Papulex to our readers, of newfound friendship, good food and a fun weekend getaway, I would do this all over again, if I could.

Thank you, Papulex Asia!

Enter the Kyoto Lab… be prepared for a twist in your scrumptious Japanese dining experience at The Pool KL, Ampang!

September 25, 2012 by thejessicat

Did you know that there was a cosy and very quaint Japanese restaurant – Kyoto Lab – nestled directly above the buzzing hotspot called The Pool KL? Bet you didn't.

Cos I didn't too!

Me with their original design of a Japanese maiden

(There's an interesting story behind this artwork…ask when you dine there!)

It  was very nice of them to extend a dinner invitation to me to sample some of their dishes.

Being the absolute Japanese cuisine fan I am, how could I say no? ;)

As the name suggests, this hip & happening nightlife hotspot organizes awesome pool parties too!

So I decided to pop by The Pool KL in Ampang last week

There was an elevator which took me directly to the upper floor of the restaurant.

Upon entering the premise, I was impressed by the simple yet creative and unique interior already

Should you take the staircase, this will be the first thing you see ! 🙂

The dining area & the counter

As I took my seat, I noticed something peculiar right above me.

See the ceiling lamps? There were so many of them & actually tins containing wine, biscuits, soy sauce & oil before

The owner of the restaurant then shared how most of their interior and furniture pieces are actually reused items. How ingenious! I felt as though I was talking to Robinson Crusoe before he even finished his story

The table base and legs were also the metal carriers previously used in the construction industry too.

See the lovely fuchsia pink & vermilion decor behind me?

Those are real bamboo sticks chopped up, dried, painted & lacquered up beautifully!

After checking out Kyoto Lab's highly innovative and resourceful interior decor, I was ready to be wowed by what they have to serve already.

I began to develop pretty high expectations! Surely the food ought to be as good as the outlet looks

Let's find out, shall we? :D

I was given the cocktail menu to select my drinks & was spoilt for choice.

There were three pages of creative & never-seen-before cocktails! Ever heard of The Fish Bowl, Spicy Mango Madness, Skittles Bomb (as opposed to Jager Bombs), Pink Elephant, Milo Ais cocktail.. and especially Chemistry Lab Experiment?

Nothing beckons me better than chocolate does :) So I opted for the Nutella Martini (RM25)

The pleasantly sweet chocolate-hazelnut flavour complemented the vodka in the martini excellently!

It wasn't garnished with the usual olives, but with Koko Krunch instead

It had me at the first sip

The next cocktail I had was the best-selling Watermelon Slush (RM40)

It was served in a heart shape carved in a giant watermelon half. How lovely!

Perfect for couple sharing

I loved its distinct slushy & chunky watermelon & lychee taste, with a good hint of vodka & midori.

Tasted very refreshing & sweet!  Something most girls would most likely fancy.

Cute presentation too! Major hearts (literally) for this cocktail!

The final cocktail that I am going to write about (because at this point, you must be thinking – where's the food? So I'll let you discover the other cocktails yourself!) is a cocktail named Coco's Nutz (RM28) :P:P.

I swear I can't be the only one who found that name particularly amusing. Teehee.

Looks like it's fresh off a tropical island, no?

I enjoyed its milky, creamy texture with a good blend of Malibu, Rum & fresh coconut juice. So rich!

Heck, it's no wonder it bagged the Winning Cocktail in 2011's JTI Horeca Bartending Contest

Rebecca & I getting a mouthful of the intricately made cocktails!

Okay, on to the food! I wonder if the cocktails were served to alter the receptivity of my tastebuds?

I'm joking; of course it didn't! I actually had the cocktails sparingly in between meals, not all in one go! :D

Chefs hard at work preparing our meals in Kyoto Lab's open concept kitchen

One of my favorite entrees was the Salmon Potato Salad with Truffle Oil (RM18)

I love salmon. I love Potato Salad. I love lettuce. When combined, I trust it will be absolutely divine.

A simple entree but it sure as ever was a delicious kick-start!

Prawns, Avocado & Crab Meat Timbale (RM12)

This is an entree of amazing flavours that I would most definitely vouch for!

The three main ingredients fused together so well, almost a melt-in-your-mouth combo

Another light bite I had was Sashimi Nouyeou Salmon Trout (RM25)

Sashimi lovers will be in for something really different!

Far from the traditional, plain, raw sashimi, this splendid take on sashimi

boasts a zestful but not-too-overpowering sweet & sour flavour with each bite

Next up and hot off the griller, was Kyoto Lab's skewered grilled meat.

Let's take a look at some of them!

Chicken/Beef Yakitori (RM8)

I have always fancied skewered meat doused in teriyaki sauce and this certainly did not disappoint.

Both the chicken and the beef were very tender and bursting with teriyaki goodness)

Gyuniku Asparamaki (RM10).

This was arguably my favorite dish of the evening

Being a pro-health junkie, I took so much pleasure in relishing this skewered asparagus wrapped in grilled beef strips served with Teriyaki sauce & sesame seeds. I ABSOLUTELY MUST have it again!

Scallop Misoyaki (RM15)

The soft & melt-in-your-mouth scallops marinated sweet & salty miso sauce will never be enough!

One bite gets you hooked – not even joking

Is it epic mealtime yet? The following dish was pretty damn marvellous to me.

The Green Monster Lamb Burger with Mint Sauce (RM28)

I love lamb! Served with potato wedges & onion rings, the Green Monster's lamb patties packed a punch!

It was so juicy and the taste of well-done lamb with mint sauce ruled my tastebuds. Thumbs up

The following "burger" blew me away & made me appreciate steak a little more! (I was never a fan, tbh)

Portobello Mushroom sandwiched between two thick slabs of medium steak with grilled Zucchini

Australian Grain-Fed Chilled Tenderloin (RM60)

I have never seen something quite like that before.

Perhaps the closest would be KFC's Double Down but it pales in comparison!

A cross-section of the meal

You have no idea how I ravaged the poor thing.

I devoured the portobello mushroom (heh, I love my vegetables more than my meat), but each time I sank my teeth into it I made sure I had a bite of the thick, succulent tenderloin as well :D

Now, what about dishes from the fryer? I immediately pointed to another one of my personal favorite.

Soft Shell Crab (RM25)

Despite the creative experimenting, Kyoto Lab did a great job in their basic Japanese dishes too.

It was crispy enough on the outside, but soft and juicy on the inside – just like how a perfect soft shell crab dish should be!

We squeezed a lemon that accompanied the crabs for that extra citrus boom :D

Curry Flavoured Wings (RM18)

For the peeps who never fail to have fried chicken wings or chicken drummets, you can opt for this.

It was served with a helping of salad & a slice of lemon too. I didn't eat this one but boyfieKon said it was as it is – not too spicy!

Now, what's Japanese cuisine without its sushi and maki rolls, hey?

But the first one I'm going to talk about comes with a slight twist as well ;)

Tuna & Mango Roll (RM20)

This maki could be an acquired taste, if you aren't too keen on mango. But I am, and this is pretty swell!

The interesting (but slightly odd!) combination is really something you should definitely explore! :D

Green Dragon (RM24)

You can never go wrong with a dragon roll! :D

The prawn, avocado & Japanese mayonaise rolled into a tight rice-wrapped seaweed is a must-eat!

Cheesy Fire Roll (RM24)

Sushi with cheese is pretty new to me, although it's something I've tasted before.

This version however, was delicious with its combination of crab meat, roe, Japanese cucumber, cheeeeeeese and wasabi!

You just gotta dig in!

On to the dessert!

I was full to the brim so I didn't help myself with any. BoyfieKon ordered this for himself –

Sakae Wine Poached Pear & Green Tea Ice-Cream (RM15)

He mentioned to me that the pear had a bitter-sweet after taste to it :)

And that wraps up the wide array of choices of my dinner. You should totally put your explorer hats on and check out this Japanese "secret laboratory" for yourself tucked away like a hideout upstairs Ampang's The Pool KL.

I had a brilliant time there experimenting & tasting new stuff that tantalized

my tastebuds however strange it initially felt :D:D

Thank you Kyoto Lab for an evening with a nouveau twist to the traditional Japanese fare I've known all my life!

You know what to do now, if you're up for taking your tastebuds on a fascinating adventure!

Loved the exclusive Johnnie Walker Black Circuit VIP raceparty @ 32 Mansion, Penang! The glitz, the glamour and razzle-dazzle of it all

September 1, 2011 by thejessicat

Yay finally!

I wanted to publish this blogpost earlier but decided to wait till the official photos were out by Johnnie Walker too!

And I’ve been collecting other photos that I was tagged in on Facebook by my friends too.

Sorry if this post took a while! I promise it’ll be worth the wait. Teehee.

So yes, I arrived at the premises with my invitation

Oh and I absolutely loved how they crafted the invitations. Such a classy feel!

It was in the form of a gold cuff/bangle in a beautiful shiny, black box.

Thanks for the photo, Minny!

They also gave a gold necklace to the ladies(which you will see me wearing) and a gold tie-pin for the gegentlemen as doorgifts.

This was the location – 32 Mansion – of which was decorated in a really elaborate manner!

So, are you ready to party with Johnnie Walker?

I sure am!

At the entrance

Camwhored  for a bit before stepping inside the Black Circuit

Oh and you can see the gold necklace rather clearly in this piccie!

The moment I entered the mansion, I was in awe.

They’ve transformed the insides into something so magnificent!

Was served Johnnie Walker cocktails the very moment I entered

Decided to give ALL the cocktails a taste!

The ones in the front row: Gold Rush | 2nd row: Black 75 | final row was my favourite, Black Circuit!

There were booths available for the whiskey tasting!

Guests were taught the RIGHT way of savouring it

And no, the trick is not to gulp it straight down….

Teehee.

The bar where mixologists were doing their thang!

I never miss an opportunity against the photowall 😀 😀

Thanks for the photo, Jun Fook!

There were a couple of booths for guests to ‘check-in’ our location to Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare too

After I was done mingling and drinking at the foyer, I explored further around the mansion

And found my table!

Thank you Johnnie Walker, for giving me a table and having it strategically right smack in the middle of the dance floor, facing the DJ console too!

They made my day even before the party started! 🙂 🙂

Before we knew it, emcees of the night Hanson and Hannah kick-started the event.

Lights, camera, action!

They gave us a very warm welcome and introduced the 1st DJ of the evening.

Hey homeboy DJ Reeve, do your thang & spin that shizz on the decks for us tonight! 😉

DJ Reeve from Malaysia!

My close knitted homies came soon after. Was so glad to see them again!

As I spend most of my days in KL, I always look forward to our hang outs everytime I come back to Penang

There’s more of us, but they’re laaaaate! 🙂

You’ll see them in a bit

My babes and I.  Loves!

Apart from my very own homies & other bloggers, I bumped into friends from the industry too

Throughout the event guests were served not only free-flow of Johnnie Walker Black Label, but also a torrent of delightful chocolates! A delicious assortment of white, dark and milk chocolates kept coming at me as though beckoning me to have more.

And you all know how much of a sucker I am for chocolates. Simply couldn’t resist!

Say whaaaaaad? 😛

Oh yeah. Chocolates galore. A generous amount was served to us!

I was made a very happy girl yet again.

Yes, chocolates make me happy, if you must know 🙂

Apart from all those awesome-pawsome things about the party so far, was the fact that I got to rekindle with some of my childhood and high school bunch of tfriends all over again.

Heck, I’ve not seen some of them ever since we left school!

Penang gurls in the haus!

Girl Guides of the same patrol back in 2005!

Classmates in primary school and squash mates in high school!

Convent girls of 2006/2007 all grown up

More of my fellow Penang peeps!

Wootwoot

I was psyched how the Black Circuit party brought together so many familiar faces; especially ones whom I’ve lost touch with. I was practically fluttering around to many different tables and coincidentally bumping into more and more old friends!

And Johnnie Walker was perfect as our toast to friendship!

Oh and ya know what’s also great during the event?

The fact that polaroids were given out to remember the night. Absolute WIN!

I’ve mentioned numerous times before; a party is never complete without a photo souvenir for keeps

That makes all the difference; compared to the usual digital photos uploaded online

We kept downing our drinks; but never fail to stay within limits.

As we keep in mind to drink responsibly – as advocated by Johnnie Walker!

The emcees took to the dance floor again to “check” on us and how we were doing! 😀 😀

Also, the next DJ was announced. DJ FM from our neighbouring country, Singapore

It’s your turn to crank up the volume, deejay!

From the window, to the wall

This party’s jumpin’ till tomorrow!

We drink the whole bottle but it ain’t over!

Errrbody’s jumping 😀

Day-O, me say Day-O

Daylight come and we don’t wanna go home 😀

We were the 1st ones to hit the dance floor, babeh!

Josiah and I 🙂

Geez duuuude, your complexion is way better than mine haha! *jealous*

With buddy Calvin

With my babe, Minny!

Oh yes, another family photo of my homies!

(Still incomplete LOL)

Ren and I!

Let’s let’s let’s get it started in here!

Flanked by Eric and Jun Fook

Emcees were back on the dancefloor!

I honestly couldn’t remember what they were saying cos I was having too much fun at the time.

But I jolly well knew when they welcomed the 3rd and final DJ of the night!

Let’s take it to the skies, DJ Teemaree!!!

Read about my interview with her: here

Had a chance to sit down for 15 minutes for a short but enlightening interview 😀 Check it out yo

Another family photo with the homies with DJ Teemaree spinning in the background!

Bumped into EVEN MORE friends that night!

Eric who pimps my Blackberry!

With Chia Li!

OMG I DID NOT JUST DO THE ASIAN “5” POSE. What’s wrong with me?! -__-” argh!

DJ keep it movin!

I raved so hard when she played the electro-house tracks.

Hell to the yeah!

Boss Selva and I

Ahhh…. Back in the days when I was the photographer for the Mois!

Smile for the camera! 🙂

Two very tired (and slightly tipsy) bloggers

THE PARTY WAS STILL ON FULL SWING TILL THE WEE HOURS OF THE MORNING!

Now that’s what I call a flippin’ awesome party.

No party shall end before midnight, in my books!

And most definitely not a night like Johnnie Walker Black Circuit parties!

My highlight of the night: I rubbed my eyes twice/thrice when I saw my best friend Joyce in front of me

She was supposed to be my plus one for the party; something came up so she had to pull a raincheck on me

Imagine my surprise when I saw her – with her invitation that I saved for her? Geez. How did she get it?

Found out that one of my homies took out her invitation from my box and passed it to her outside!

Apparently I did not notice while I was partying the skies down and my cellphone battery died on me

So, finally, FAMILY PHOTO COMPLETE!

(Except a few who weren’t at the party)

GUESS WHAT!!?

Also found out it was DJ Teemaree’s birthday!

So we’ve come to the end of this lengthy post. I hope it was worth the read!

Seriously, what’s there not to love about this party but it’s entirety? I’ve said all I needed to say and….

I give it a 5 star rating; very apt with its 5 star standard!

I went home with memories of arguably the most fantastic party of my life ever since I returned from Australia

Thank you once again, Johnnie Walker for bringing us an amazing night.

The Black Circuit Penang night was stellar; more than honoured to be your guest! See you around at the next party!

Keep Walking, you sexy beast of a Striding Man 😉

 Much love, TheJessicat

Wacoal 62nd Anniversary Masquerade n’ Cocktail party! Favola Italian restaurant, Le Meridien Hotel KL

January 6, 2011 by thejessicat

Come Fly With Me! 🙂

Those were the 1st words that greeted me as I stepped outta the lift and into the premises of Wacoal's 62nd Anniversary Cocktail Masquerade.

This post is a little late – I wasn't able to find the photos of Executive Director Mr. Hisao Sugiyama ;(

Might ask for the Official Photographer for it though, cos the Jap boss Mr. Hisao was sucha warm and down-to-earth guy for a big shot he is. I enjoyed talking to him as he was really friendly to all of us too.

I Masquerade parties!!

Since I was a little early for the event, I was ushered to the lounge to wait with the other early birds as well.

We were then served cocktails, fruit juices and red wine 😀

Mannequins donning the latest lingerie from the Wacoal collection

I had to wait quite a bit. As the rest of my friends were expected to arrive late; Malaysian traffic jams. *rolls eyes*

The event began later than the scheduled time as well. But I found something to occupy my time anyhow!

Spotted a huge infinity mirror to camwhore with! 😀 Ohjoy!

Feeling slightly restless, I started walking around to check out the grandeur of this vicinity

Floor-to-ceiling windows, crystal chandeliers and polished doors fringed with sturdy wooden frames. What I'd give to live here 😉

After the appeasing exploration, I went back to the lounge.

Boy it was rather chilly outside!

Took a slug of wine from my glass… while waiting. Didn't notice I finished 2 already! *hic

Finally! The waiting lounge was getting more and more crowded with guests dressed to the nines.

I guess people come in waves! 😀

Buddy Anis arrived just about the same time too. She looked, in my opinion, fabulous in her long blue dress and all made up!

Dressed all in blue. What a contrast to my dark pink flowwy dress 😀

I should have toted my reddish-pink bag too. We would match if I did!

After mingling around over lotsa drinks, it was time for the showdown.

We were all ushered to Favola, the famous Italian restaurant where the cocktail party starts!

Brought along my glass of wine! Didn't wanna waste as I was almost done

Capturing moments again.

Even before I've laid eyes on the food, the place was enough to mesmerize me 😀

Entering Favola!!

A whole friggin' table of canapes!

Best appetizers for any cocktail party ever

Anis and I certainly enjoyed the tapas food there

Oh and this one is really delish! It's the Squid and Scallops canape

So much to go around… and in so many varieties!

Unsure of what this is called again, but it was one of my favorites of the night :

Tiny lil pieces just makes you crave for more, ain't it?

Loved the Bruschetta's there too. They had choices Tomato, Basil, Smoked Salmon and Tuna.

Camwhore break! 😀 😀 😀

2 ladies dressed in blue then came strutting down the podium.

Armd with fancy violins, they boasted catchy tunes and melodies with each swipe of their bows

Yup, certainly got us going!

Their outfit somehow reminds me of Tinkerbell from Disney's Peter Pan 😉 hehe

After the superb performance, Stephanie Chai (the host for tonight) then gave all of us guests a warm welcome and cued for the fashion show to begin. One by one, lovely, lanky ladies with svelte figures catwalked down the podium in Wacoal's latest lingerie series. ;)

Here are the fine pieces from the Parfage collection.

I watched as these models sashayed down the runway in Wacoal lingerie, looking effortlessly beautiful and sexy.

I guess what makes you feel great inside does project a certain amount of confidence on the outside!

Anyway, here are some from the Moi Cree Neo collection :

it doesn't stop there. For a moment, I felt I was in New York or Milan watching Victoria's Secret models doing their thang.

The blend of the ambience, the music, the lingerie and the music was two thumbs up

Let's continue with Wacoal's next collection. This one is called Sensuala :

So chic, no? 😀 This one above is my favorite of them all

Here are the more extravagently showcased ones, with bizzare props and whatnot.

Make way for the Sorci collection ! Heh. I like this collection, it sounds saucy too 😛 😛

Once that was over and done with, there was still 2 more collections that has not been exhibited.

They are the Jia cami and the masquerade collection.

I wasn't around during the Jia cami show… nature calls! :P So this is how it looks like, for your sake hehe.

(Photo credits to news dailies Harian Metro and New Straits Times)

This breakthrough homewear is made with 100% pure cotton for comfort and breathability

As the break in between shows was kinda long, Anis and I took the time to feast on the tapas delicacies served for dinner.

Believe me, they were marvellous. Good food should always accompany a good event = a good night to remember!

With the chef!

The main tapas food were served ala buffet style; and with dishes as mouth watering as these, it's hard to stop at one bite.

You'll see why as you scroll down. I'lll let the pictures speak for themselves!

Whilst eating, I bumped into Winnie!

It has been quite a while since we last saw each other so we did a little catching up 😀

She looked ravishing in her black sheer laced dress

The fashion show soon picked up where it left off and ended with a big bang of a masquerade fiesta

Dressed in elaborate Victorian styles, the models took to the stage and stole everyone's attention

A marvellous lingerie fashion show. Job well done! Kudos

Also, I found it to be a very bright idea that this masquerade event was held at Favola.

Just check out the walls!

Bright shiny masks!

Speaking of interior decor, there were Italian scriptures written on the ceilings at every section of the corridor

How enigmatic!

I'd like to ink a a scripture on my collar bone too, something that no one comprehends!

And here are the English verses, back-to-back!

Dessert time!

Raise your forks and prepare your sweet tooths!

Just look at the array of delightful sugar rushes.

But no dessert can ever beat my all-time favorite Tiramisu!

Oh look! It's a house specialty too.

Gotta try em fo shure!

Heaven in a tiny glass.

It kept this sweet tooth a very happy girl with a satiated tummy 😀

Thank you Wacoal for the amazing night of splendour!

Congratulations on hitting the mark of 62 years 😀

Happy Birthday! It was celebrated in much class and style indeed
