FREEZE spellbounds us upon the stage of ice, magic and entertainment @ Genting International Showroom!

January 10, 2012 by thejessicat

Just before we ushered in the new year, I was invited by Resorts World Genting to witness their new resident show: a multi-million ringgit production of Ice, Magic & Entertainment aptly named 'FREEZE'.

I haven't been to Genting Highlands in over a year so I thought, hey, why not?

The journey up to the 'Fun City Above the Clouds' was a winding one.

T'was cold when I arrived (to my surprise!) and a hot cuppa from Starbucks was all I needed

I brought my buddy & housie Pamela to the show with me as well

As soon as we got up there, we started dolling up for the show

As I was booked into First World Hotel, it was quite a fair bit of a walk for us. But no matter!

'FREEZE' was to be held at Genting International Showroom, in the same building as Resort Hotel.

YAY Finally arrived the showroom!

But first, we decided to dine before the show to avoid being cold & hungry in there!

So we went for the buffet dinner at Coffee Terrace Genting courtesy of Resorts World Genting! Thank you 🙂

At the entrance of Coffee Terrace Genting

Inside

There was a plethora of food available during the buffet. We were delighted to find a host of both international and local delights.

Alright, dinner beckons us! :D

Here, lemme show you some of what we had

Watching Chinese people cook really, really intrigue me.

Just look at those oppressive flames amongst the food –

Frying food with gigantic flames inside the wok for so long without burning the meals!

Cooking level : ASIAN

We were spoilt for choice looking at all those food and more!

Here's something that got me ticking :

Not just an ordinary chocolate fondue fountain… it's a

A WHITE CHOCOLATE FONDUE FOUNTAIN!

Here were some of the choices we recommend from Coffee Terrace Genting :

Roast Turkey ham slices

New York Cheesecakes

And from our plates:

Butter Fish, Grilled Dory, Chicken & Beef Teriyaki, Seafood Aglio Olio, Tempura, Fried Soft Shell Crab

Tiramisu, Sushi & Maki, Chicken Sausage, Bread & Butter Pudding

Fresh Garden Pasta, Black Pepper Roast Beef

Other food worthy of not (which we didn't snap photos of) were :

Carrot Soup, Nyonya Chicken, Teochew Siakap & Century Egg Broth, Baby Prawn & Red Snapper, Lamb Kurma, Chocolate Chip Ice Cream with White Chocolate Sauce, Thai Green Curry & Beef Rendang.

A definite must-try!

We adjourned to Genting International Showroom at sharp 9PM

Ready?

Too excited to be spellbounded by world-class performers!

Behold, the never-been-staged-before production is about to begin

The showroom has turned into one of the largest ice entertainment venue in Malaysia

This million-pound ice-rink was specially constructed for 'FREEZE', operating at a permanent -8°C

We were entertained with a vast array of magic, entertainment and acrobatic stunts all on ice!

It was stupendous, to say the least

Apart from stunts and whatnot, there was a musically inclined performance

on the violin and graceful dances from a fusion of performers from Ukraine, Europe & Asia

Introducing the enchanting illusionist Anastasiia Birch from Ukraine!

She appears through an empty crystal box

Captivating us with her brand of illusion

We were wow-ed by many of her talents

Anastasiia performing her double levitation act

Anastasiia performing the World's Largest Turbine Illusion

So dangerous my heart sank when I saw her disappear into the turbine and emerge from the other side!

To think that it has sank enough, I was so very wrong.

I literally gritted my teeth and had my fists in a gridlocked clench the moment I saw this –

Anastasiia performing the World's Largest Drill Illusion

 ohmy.

Loved it when everything was set in flames

The Huachen Acrobatic Group from China induced a jaw-dropping and eyebrow-raising reaction from me

These flexible and limber daredevils blew me over with their agility, energy and nimble movements!!

They spun so fast and in so many degrees and angles I was seeing stars after they were done

Don't know how yall do it but, bravo!

They have most definitely set the bar as they fluidly contort, perform aerial trapeze acts, silk aerial acts and high-flying acts.

Wish I could've shown you more pictures but my eyes were really concentrating on their insane, rapid movements

The cast

It was such an amazing 75 minute production, it left us not only starstruck and beyond impressed.

'FREEZE' is one I'd truly recommend.

The photos and the experience I've just shared simply cannot do it justice!

If you wanna watch it for yourselves, details are as below:

It's often a full-house show, so log-on to www.rwgenting.com or call

for availability and booking to avoid disappointment

And if you wanna indulge in the buffet just like ours, look here :

That's all for now. An amazing experience, no doubt.

My housies and I had so much fun at the themeparks and the casino thereafter.

'FREEZE' You heard it from me!

Don't miss any of those never-seen-before acts! 🙂

Congrats on Protons's return at International Rallying! Celebrating its victory @ Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) in China

November 18, 2010 by thejessicat

Wheee! Malaysia made it to the international scene again

After a 5 year break, PROTON returns to the coveted Asia Pacific Rally Championship (APRC) and such efforts were all worth it! They emerged second in the Manufacturer’s Championship in its first full season!

Congratulations fellas!

Alister McRae and Chris Atkinson reaffirmed the Malaysian car manufacturer’s resolve, determination and competitiveness in the global rallying arena after completing with a one-two finish at the China Rally last weekend

The spirited drive by McRae also earned the Scottish driver third placing in the APRC Driver’s Championship – a bigger cause for celebration at the PROTON camp! 😀 😀

You go guys!! 😀 Woohoo!

This victory reaffirms the Satria Neo S2000 and PROTON’s competitiveness as a manufacturer on the international rally arena. Although this year was initially declared as specially devoted to testing and development, they still came in second in the APRC Manufacturer’s Championship!

Group Managing Director Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir expresses that

"This is certainly a cause for celebration,” 🙂 I cannot agree more!

Although hampered by a series of misfortunes throughout the season, it certainly have proven not to dampen their spirits. Overall,
PROTON had competed in five of the six APRC rounds this year that began with the Rally of Malaysia, Rally of Japan, Rally of New Zealand and Rally of Australia.

Prior to this recent victory in China, PROTON’s best result was a second place in the Rally of New Zealand!

Top 3 winners! 😀

In addition to the APRC, the Satria Neo S2000 had also competed in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge (IRC) where it went head to head with the likes of lotsa godlike Manufacturer Teams like Peugeot, Skoda, Ford, Abarth Fiat, Honda as well as Mitsubishi and Subaru.

Scary, no? 😀

Tight competition yo!

Dato’ Haji Syed Zainal Abidin said motorsports is one of several key strategies being pursued to establish PROTON as a global brand. What a smart way to catch the attention of the international eye, if I do say so myself 🙂

Motorsports has proven to be an ideal and cost-effective platform for the company to generate greater brand awareness in the countries it exports its vehicles to. The world wouldn't know what an awesome and drool worthy car we have if we didn't expose it in the first place, right? 🙂

Equally important, it has also provided PROTON the opportunity to showcase the reliability, strength and performance of the Satria Neo.

In terms of exposure, both the APRC and IRC events command enormous publicity and television viewers worldwide to promote the PROTON brand globally.

To be honest, the Proton Satria Neo was my initial dream for my first car the moment I graduated from high school. But sadly, when I already attained my driver's license and P car sticker, Satria Neo wasn't out yet!! 🙁 🙁 And I couldn't wait so I had to resort to other cars. Bummer!

Guess what? A top Japanese team also shares a similar passion. They are also looking into the possibility of fielding the Satria Neo in next year’s Asia Cup category in the APRC.

To boast even more for my local-born car, PROTON last competed as a factory-backed team at the 2004 Rally of Canberra in which it finished fifth in the overall classifications and has won the APRC title three times in 2001, 2002 and 2004.

PROTON also won the FIA Production Car World Rally Championship on its debut in 2002

*ethnocentricity kicks in*

The love for local born cars! 😛 😛 😛

In China, the Satria Neo S2000 stamped its competitiveness by being the only Super 2000 rally car to compete against a field largely dominated by the turbocharged Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza rally cars.

To add another feather in their cap, PROTON’s success in China was also the debut of four Proton Gen2s that completed the 229.19km rally.

The very sleek Proton Gen 2. Loves!

The cars are known in China as the Europestar, under an OEM collaboration between PROTON and Zhejiang Youngman Passenger Car Group Co. Ltd. I love the name, sounds super-cool

Another shot of the Gen 2 on the road!! 😀

A very durable car built for steady journeys indeed

That being said, congratulations once again Proton! 😀 😀

Make us proud again, ya hear? Hehe

*throws confetti*

So what's next?

This one really sparked my attention though

Holidaying in Paris for about a thousand grand ONLY 😀

*thumbs up*

Hmm oh! Like some of my friends, if you're planning to travel the European countries for some sight-seeing, or to ride a strange creature, say… a llama, or experience snow…

Oh and before I forget, lemme share with you a few more.. closer to home ones!

I'm honestly sick and fed up of the same TWO people telling me "Ohh don't go! Dangerous riots!" over and over again each time I mention that I wanna go to Thailand. I declined different groups of friends THREE TIMES to tour Bangkok and Phuket because of this -__-

And everyone went without me, enjoyed themselves and came back with great memories 🙁 🙁

But thanks to Mayflower, I can take their words, stick it up where the sun doesn't shine and go ANYWAY 😀 😀

No worries! Thailand's political situation is very stable (and peaceful) now. So hey ho, let's go!

I wanna go also!!!!! 🙁 🙁

Very tempting lor! I think imma go tomorrow and buy the Bangkok one already.

Amongst all the holiday destination deemed islands in Malaysia, (I think we have 7 if I ain't wrong) Pangkor Island is the nearest to me!

Yup yup, it's located in Perak so it's only a 2 hour drive from our capital, KL City

Most likely, Best Western Marina Island Resort is gonna be my crib for

3 days and 2 nights sometime next month 🙂 🙂

Can't wait to check out that place and share it all with yall!

You can head to Mayflower's booth during the MATTA Fair and check out their promos of only RM78 per person (twin sharing) inclusive of breakfast yo

It looks so gorgeous from the pictures already, I wonder how it's really like inside! 😀
