An afternoon tea-party with PETRONAS Switch 4 XTRA (Race Challenge) at Delicious @ Dua Residency, KL!

October 26, 2012 by thejessicat

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon while I made my way downtown for a delightful afternoon tea-party in the city.

When I received the invitation to attend this cosy afternoon, I was looking forward to it all week as it was an Appreciation Party hosted by PETRONAS to thank its VIPs, media buddies, sponsors, contest winners and other valued guests.

And everybody knows how the chain of Delicious restaurants lives up to its name in serving absolutely delicious food!

Excited for the afternoon celebration of food and fun!

The girls and I with our goodie bags

As I was one of the few early ones to arrive, I had the chance to take a quick tour around the vicinity of the restaurant, located at Dua Residency in KL City.

It was my first time there!

Delicious restaurant had a distinctively British and garden-like touch to it

It was well-lit as the large floor-to-ceiling glass windows allowed plenty of sunshine into every corner of the room. The interior boasted several tree branches and incandescent lamps locked inside birdcages, which hung from the ceiling.

I was glad PETRONAS chose this venue to throw its Appreciation Party!

Had always been a fan of this white, pristine treasure house of well-made simple to elaborate dishes.

The stage set-up!

A warm and charismatic opening speech from one of the bigbosses of PETRONAS

He then officiated the event and beckoned us to enjoy our afternoon tea with everyone in the room :)

I gleefully hopped over to the long marble counter and joined the rest of the guests checking out the buffet of assorted pies, quiches, pasta, meatballs, salad and desserts.

Guess what I brought back to my table?

Here's my selection!

Ready for some of the mouthwatering delights up close? :)

I managed to snap a few quick photographs of some of my favorite dishes that were served.

Beef meatballs!

Some pastries

Smoked salmon salad served in a spoon!

Desserts for the sweet tooths out there!

Soon after our hearty meal, the emcee of the afternoon (with a brilliant American accent and a good sense of humour, no less!) interacted with the crowd and explained what else we were going to be expecting from the day's events.

He then introduced a special appearance of the celebrity contestants of the PETRONAS Switch for XTRA Road Challenge, their team members and a prize-giving session to the winners for the online contest.

Papi Zak warming up the crowd

For those not in the know, the PETRONAS Switch for XTRA Road Challenge is a series of challenges featuring 4 teams led by celebrities Awal Ashaari, Scha Alyahya, Faizal Ismail & popular blogger Hanis Zalikha.

Each of them will be accompanied two team-mates and they will have to travel across Malaysia & compete in fun challenges which sees fans voting for their favorite contestants – based on the popularity of their web-episodes.

Here are the teams!

Actress, model & TV host Scha Alyahya & her team

Actor & TV host Awal Ashaari & his team

Popular blogger Hanis Zalikha & her team

Host & HOTfm radio announcer Faizal Ismail & his team

If you are interested in following their adventures on the road and challenges, you can watch their webisodes on the Switch for XTRA Road Challenge at the Petronasbrands official Facebook Page *click*

The prize giving ceremony soon ensued, and lots of lucky winners went onstage to collect their cash prize. There were 15 of them altogether.

Papi Zak calling out the names of zealous fans :)

Oh wow. Lucky, lucky winners bagging themselves hefty cash prizes

just by being die-hard supporters & casting their votes!

Photo opportunity with all the race participants!

(Am I the only one looking at the camera?)

Just as the day ended, I got to take a photo with both of my favorite celebrity contestants – Scha and Awal  If you didn't know, they are husband and wife but they will be competing against each other LOL

Good luck to the both of you!

I love their bubbly and jovial persona… both on-screen and off-screen! Too cute :D

Thank you PETRONAS, for a fun afternoon tea party :D

I had a good time, a good laugh and especially over good food. An afternoon well-spent indeed!

Leaving on a jetplane; the day has come! I’m off to Melbourne today!

September 10, 2011 by thejessicat

Before you say anything, yes I realized I haven't been blogging for the past 4 days.

Reason being: assignments were up my neck!

I wanted to finish up whatever that was needed to be done before I fly off to Australia for a month, so I could enjoy my holiday and not be a useless student slacking away. Heck, I even plan to attend classes whilst I'm there!

It's awesome how Monash has so many campuses *grins*

So apart from assignments, what has been keeping me busy?

In case you didn't know, the one on the right is me 😀

Who does the left one look like? *wink*

*drumroll* The Sims Social on Facebook!!!!!

I've never been one to play Facebook games; in fact, I get a tad annoyed with all the game requests.

But seriously? The Sims is back… and now on Facebook? It's a childhood memory to play God yo!

Haha. Look at theboyfie and I talking on to each other as Sim characters

It was funny how when the Sim version of us were getting to know each other > flirting > eventually embracing,

we kept yelling over Skype  "OHMYGOD! WE'RE DATING NOW!"

Hardy har har. Alluring ey.

Notice how my Sim (left) closely resembles me and how his Sim (right) looks almost exactly like he does

Oh, and here's some trivia you might find interesting:

I remember how I used to be such a morbid & sadistic player of The Sims when I was 11.

FLASHBACK

1. I used to put my people into swimming pools & remove the pool steps (For some strange reason, they can only enter & exit the pool via the steps). So, needless to say, they drowned and died a horrible death.  ;(

2. I used to put them into a tiny room without windows nor furniture and then remove the door.

They were trapped, malnourished and pee-ed/poo-ed on the floor and again, died a horrible death.

HEYHEYHEY this reminds me of the Petknode cat abuse case. ;(

3. I had them conceive a baby, and then not allow them to attend to their baby's cry.

The baby cried and cried non-stop & finally the lady from the Child Abuse services came to "save" the baby.

I then built a brick wall around her to stop her from getting the baby; she died suffocating & eventually dying an even more horrible death; apt for a horrible person trying to take away the baby! haha  ;(

True story. But it bewilders me how I can be such a violent and sadistic gamer when I was barely a teenager.

REMIND ME NOT TO PLAY GOD NEXT TIME.

😛 😛

And what else filled my time?

Of course, gushing over heartthrob Chuck Bass!!! *swoons*

Gossip Girl season 5 is gonna premier on the 26th September!

Can't wait. Chuck Bass, wait for meeeeeeeeeee!!! 😀

Oh and I shall see you soon! I should be boarding the plane before you know it 🙂

Will blog whilst in Melbourne – duh!  Much love

*1 new notification* I swear Facebook has its powers on me

March 24, 2011 by thejessicat

As we speak, this is me in a nutshell.

Caffeine. Caffeine. Bloodshot eyes. Overdose.

Oh but wait, some rezmates piqued my interest while I was deep in concentration. What are they doing?

2 people has posted on your wall

Taking Facebook to the real world in South 9 rez

On a completely unrelated note, I've just handed in my E-Journalism assignment in the pigeon hole and now continuing where I left off from my Cultural & Communications Policy assignment last night.

And so toiling on my next assignment has really taken its toll on me.

Night after night in the micro lab ramming on the keyboard – thankfully I've a studybuddy to keep me company lest I go insane. I've been pulling a raincheck on a few parties to date, all because I felt an incessant need to complete this. MIghty stressed now, you can't even imagine 🙁

Burning the midnight oil – I've not been back home for days!

The apocalypse is near, for I've turned into a zombie and joined their clan.

I pulled an all-nighter working on this assignment and can't wait to let off some steam in the city this weekend.

I'm going to Alumbra! One of the best bar-club-lounge in Melbourne. Can't wait! 😀 😀

It's a marathon of assignments now… no sleep tonight! This better be worth it.

Being shameless in Facebook – Part II

October 3, 2010 by thejessicat

I woke up today after a great shisha-supper night out with the homies to this –

I never and refuse to understand why people try to hit on RANDOM people through Facebook.

Fine, fine. Try your luck on haphazard girls but even so, need you be so tacky?

My girlfriends and I have been talking about dudes like this, and apparently, most of us received the same message from the same person. Not just him, but many others as well.

IF YOU'RE A GIRL,

I BET YOU'VE RECEIVED SOMETHING LIKE THIS FROM SOMEONE BEFORE

Goodness gracious. Well if people of such are so bold and doing this to everyone, why not give them the publicity they deserve? 😛

You're barking up the wrong tree.

Anyway, I've blogged about a similar (but much worse) encounter –  here . Whereby the fella even wrote an essay. Go see it! 🙂

I wish these people all the best in hitting the jackpot for a girl to fall for something as low that 😀 😀

If all else fails, hire a matchmaker!
