Wanna go to Heineken’s Kick-off to Ibiza Finale Challenge Party? | Mines Wellness Hotel KL

April 25, 2013 by thejessicat

It's that time of the year again where all the parties seem to collide back-to-back with each other every weekend (and even weekday nights).

So, before you guys ask me what parties there are lined up for this week, I'll let you in on some details!

One of the many events that will be happening this weekend is Heineken's Kick-off to Ibiza party!

I received a very creative and crafty invitation from Heineken early this week

It was in the form of a message in a bottle! Sweet yes

Thanks to Heineken, I have had the pleasure to party at almost all their music and rave parties alike.

And honestly? I really have to give it to the folks at Heineken for all the incredible parties they throw!  They really, really know how to win every avid partygoer's heart. heart

Heil, Heineken! wink

Take these pictures from last year's Heineken Progressive Party, for example.

GREAT MUSIC

A long night of bass-jacking tracks and progressive beats! devil

GREAT TIMES AND FREE-FLOW OF HEINEKEN

Good times with buddies and party-mates and not remembering how many bottles we all chugged! cool

GREAT LOCATION

Where else but my homeland, Penang Island?

At the classy Mansion 32 along Upper Penang Road

They transformed the entire dining area into party central!

See? Told you I've always had good times at Heineken parties.

This time round, Heineken's going to bring their party-scene a notch higher.

Recognize this place?

Ring any bells yet?

How about now?

Are you sure?

IT'S IBIZA, BABY! PARTY CENTRAL OF THE UNIVERSE, HOT DAMN! cool

The clock is ticking as the Heineken Ibiza Final contest officially ends this Saturday. Heineken is giving Malaysians the chance to watch the screening of UEFA Champions League (UCL) Final VIP-style in the party capital of the world – Ibiza, Spain.

The only catch is that the Heineken Ibiza Final tickets are hidden in a secret location somewhere in Klang Valley and fans are encouraged to collaborate via social media activities in order to be one step closer to finding out where the tickets are! devil

Once the location is revealed, 80 lucky football fans will be invited to participate in the Heineken Ibiza Finale Challenge where they will have to display their skills through a combination of charm, imagination and inventiveness to be rewarded with this ultimate football and music experience.

Hmm.. I wonder what they have to do… angelangel Heh. Heh. Heh.

You know an epic, hardcore party is in store for you if it's a Heineken party cool

The top three winners will join 250 Heineken fans from around the world in an ultra luxurious all expense-paid VIP experience at the UEFA Champions League Final viewing event Heineken-style in no where else but the party capital of the world – Ibiza, Spain.

To stand a chance to win:

1) Log on to Heineken’s official Facebook page OR

2) Head to any participating Heineken outlets nationwide (most clubs and bars)

enlightenedContest ends on 20th April 2013. enlightened

Trust these chaps, they sure know how to party deliriously hard devil

And you heard that from me wink

Wicked times with Steve Aoki, LMFAO & Joachim Garraud at the We Love Asia rave party!

January 25, 2013 by thejessicat

Ever thought you'll be sick of partying after attending a back-to-back rave?

Nope, not in a million years. I live and breathe electronic music and raving with the community of like-minded music revellers around me is my euphoria.

Guess where I am this time?

It was the We Love Asia rave party held in Sepang International Circuit last Sunday!

After the Swedish House Mafia : One Last Tour was over and done with (blog post – here!) I recharged for a day and accelerated with full force the very next day.

Decked in neon yellow for the party!

My partycrew and I sped down to the F1 race circuit at 8PM

Arrived! We're all set and ready to rumble

(I honestly don't know how Amelia & Victoria can rave in high heels wow!)

The first whom we watched was electro-house DJ Joachim Garraud who hails from France.

Joachim Garraud brought his space invaders to terrorize the rave!

I've to be honest, I've never heard his music nor watched him ever before.

But when he performed, I jaw-dropped.

He didn't only play on the DJ console…

He performed LIVE for us!

And here, by LIVE, I don't mean only LIVE in concert.

Most DJ-Producers perform recorded tracks, whether or not it is an original track or a fellow DJ's track.

But for Joachim Garraud, he literally PLAYED THE MUSIC LIVE for us ravers!

It really was marvellous watching him perform with his incredible talents on the handheld guitar-looking electronic keyboard. The music that was playing from his system was amazing too!

It's always great to watch DJs perform more than what they are expected to do – to DJ.

Three of us were wowed by the talented Joachim Garraud & his space invaders!

Apart from the fabulous performance, he also handed out several space invader alien masks out to us ravers.

BOOOOO! No surprises who caught one of them. Me!

His set wasn't just about done yet, as he ran back to the DJ console to continue playing.

The backdrop complemented his music perfectly and got us raving hard.

Needless to say, we screamed our hearts out

Among the tracks he performed apart from his original productions were Swedish House Mafia's 'Greyhound', Knife Party's 'Internet Friends', Hardwell's 'Spaceman', Bingo Player's 'Rattle', Axwell's 'In My Mind', Pitbull's 'Krazy' and heaps more others!

My buddies and I! Oh and yes, my alien mask too

When Joachim Garraud left the stage, I spotted him autographing some of the masks that he gave out.

Unfortunately, I didn't get a signature! But no matter, it's happily sitting in the dashboard of my car now.

Hello!!!! I'm a white alien for the night.

The next act of the night was one-half of electronic music duo LMFAO, Redfoo.

Yupyup, the boys who brought us Party Rock Anthem' and 'Sexy and I know It', among other addictive songs!

Their crew's DJ warmed up the crowd for Redfoo

One for Instagram, methinks!! (Or Twitter and Facebook, or all three haha)

We were waiting for Redfoo to come on stage quick so we could partyrock already!

We didn't have to wait long, as we were enjoying the music their DJ had put up for us.

Before we knew it, Redfoo popped on stage!

Yeaaaaaaaaaaaah baby!

Redfoo couldn't stop tickling our ribs with his insane humour!

Redfoo not only performed a splendid combo of dancing and singing..

He also insisted on "going back old skool' and began taking over the DJ console!

They performed an energy-driven performance, complete with props and a partyrock crew on stage!

Among the props were a life-sized blow-up zebra. beach balls and so much more

For some odd reason, I initially mistook this zebra as a giraffe LOL

Beach balls for us to throw and bounce within the crowd!

It was not long before the ever-popular track 'Party Rock Anthem' which shot them to fame in 2010 began blasting from the sound system. Finally! Let's put on our best partyrock gear and shuffle away, shall we?

That cardboard box-guy mascot from LMFAO's official 'Party Rock Anthem' was there too!

I actually saw a few cardboard box guys in the crowd as well.

Looks like my fellow party people took the effort to dress up!

Hmmm.. maybe I should too, next time!

Confetti burst!

Among the songs they performed were 'Getting Over You', 'Reminds Me of You', 'Shots', 'Champagne Showers', 'Party Rock Anthem', 'Sorry For Party Rocking', 'Sexy and I Know It' as well as Chuckie's 'Who Is Ready To Jump?', Alesso's 'Everybody Raise Your Hands', David Guetta's 'I'm In Miami Bitch', Madagascar's theme song 'I Like To Move It' and more!

Wiggle wiggle wiggle, yeah!

One of the most surprising and fascinating thing that happened during their performance was when the LMFAO party rock crew, including Redfoo himself, stripped down to their underwear and performed 'Sexy and I Know It' just like the official video!

Wow. Did I just witness that in real life? Really? Coolbeans!

He pulled his black liquid leather pants back up and continued party rocking with more and more songs.

It was unstoppable! He was getting the crowd all pumped up even more and more! With Redfoo around, there was no sign of exhaustion from the crowd.

Keep it going, Redfoo!

My very own party rock crew for the night!

The final, closing act to play for the night was none other than the legendary Asian-American electro-house DJ-producer and founder of electronic record label, Dim Mak Records.

I've always wanted to watch him perform! Been following his rave party videos on YouTube and I must say, those were really hardcore partying, I don't even!

Was kinda wondering if he would shoot us partygoers to the skies with his mind-blowing performance?

I was right.

He was one of the MOST energetic DJs I've ever seen performing in my entire life!

Steve Aoki exceeded my expectations. He was jumping so hard, climbing on the DJ console, wildly waving his arms in the air, interacting with his fans and raving with us almost the entire night.

Hitting turbulence with Steve Aoki

Watching Steve Aoki LIVE in front of me was some sort of a dream come true.

I've always been a fan of his music and his bassline always gets me going.

To party with the hardcore Steve Aoki for a non-stop two hour set? Priceless.

Steve Aoki preparing his float boat

He was also throwing his few signature rave party moves, such as caking the audience (yes, throwing massive birthday cakes on everybody's faces), splashing champagne showers on everybody (just popping open a bottle of champagne and spraying it on everyone), crowd surfing (with an actual float boat) and more.

The crowd was exhilarated beyond measure and raised their hands in unison to float Steve Aoki's boat – literally!
While rocking in the boat, he also waved our Malaysian flag.

Why, thank you, Steve!

Buddy Vincent was my only partyrocker left.

The rest couldn't stand the rowdy crowd and decided to take a rest somewhere!

Confetti burst into the sky again, leaving little tinsels of coloured paper filling the air!

One landed on my nose!

During Steve Aoki's set, he introduced Redfoo of LMFAO on stage again and guess what?

The two of them performed their new collaboration track, 'Livin' My Love'!

I honestly never expected to see the both of them on stage together!

Apparently they're buddies in real life (Steve Aoki caked Redfoo in Tokyo before LOL) and I found out through their Twitterfeed that they were already planning to perform their collabo track on stage for us tonight.

See this dude with the 'CAKE ME' signage?

Well, he got what he wanted. Steve Aoki took another enormous birthday cake and smashed it onto the fella!

Come to think about it, how often can you say "STEVE AOKI CAKED ME LAST NIGHT!" huh?

We kinda avoided being caked and thank goodness

we were free from the rather pungent vanilla!

By the end of the night, I was running outta fuel and feeling so drained but still strangely energetic!

I had one of the best rave party night's ever.

WE LOVE ASIA!

Oh and, I'm actually preparing a video I made of tonight's We Love Asia rave.

Stay tuned! I'll embed it here once I'm done.

Till then, We Love Asia, I salute you partyfolks!

Thanks for giving us ravers a ball of a time

I came. I raved. I loved. Swedish House Mafia : ‘One Last Tour’ LIVE in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia @ Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach

January 22, 2013 by thejessicat

Last Friday was a night of mayhem! Actually, my whole weekend was pretty much a radical one.

But wait, let's talk about Friday first, hey?

Just one look and it's no guessing who they are!

As we all know and having also said in this post, our favourite EDM juggernaut trio Swedish House Mafia have decided to go their separate ways to concentrate on their solo careers.

Embarking on a farewell around the world to personally bid their fans a heart-warming goodbye, they have, among a few other countries, chosen Malaysia to perform for one last time at their aptly named, One Last Tour.

Thanks for the ticket, XPAX! I was all geared up and excited to go already!

I'm sure you can tell. I was impatiently bounding up and down while waiting for some friends!

We got there pretty early, just before 9PM.

It was a long walk towards the Surf Beach, as though hyping us up all month isn't enough already!

En route to the Surf Beach!

We were getting closer and closer to the party zone

Took some photos with the mascots of Greyhound!

Some photos with the fellow partymates.

I figured we ought to grab a few shots first before we all disappeared into the crowd so here they some of them!

Remember this post I wrote which included something about the death of my friend, Elizabeth?

She clearly didn't make it for this Swedish House Mafia's gig that she wanted to attend so badly. So, her friends and family alike gathered in her name tonight and had it all planned to make this her little tribute.

Some of the heart-shaped helium balloons they had brought along to release into the night sky

the moment her favourite song 'Don't You Worry Child' came up.

Are we ready to see Swedish House Mafia LIVE before us for the first and last time?

And so, after all the opening acts, DJ Nikki, Mr. Fluff and DJ Eclipse (Singapore), had finished their set, Swedish House Mafia made their grand appearance half an hour before their scheduled time at 9.30PM sharp.

Steve Angello, Sebastian Ingrosso and Axwell opened their two-hour set with 'We Came, We Raved, We Loved'

Their opening drove us on high suspense with drumming bass and lightplay on the white veil, before finally dropping those curtains to unveil our favorite Swedish progressive house trio.

The laser show was nothing short of amazing!

Laser beams comprising a psychedelic fusion of colours shone haphazardly into the sky and back throughout their set.

Here are the blue and green ones

Some of the skinnier laser streaks

They had lots of LED animation in the background too. I liked the skull best!

The boys playing one of my favourite songs, 'Antidote' for us!

Anyone knows what those Japanese words say?

They performed a powerful two-hour set for us.

A perfect blend of remixes and various original tracks as individuals and from their two albums (as Swedish House Mafia), Until One and Until Now.

They climbed onto the DJ console to rave with us!

In the first half of their set, they performed 'Nothing But Love' by Axwell, 'KNAS', 'Lights' and 'Show Me Love' by Steve Angello, a remix of 'Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger' by Kanye West, 'The Island' by Pendulum, and their original singles 'Leave the World Behind', 'Calling (Lose My Mind), 'Greyhound' and 'The Island'.

Sebastian Ingrosso playing LIVE drums while 'Resurrection' played

Can you spot me in this rowdy crowd?

"It's good to be here together for the first time with you in Malaysia.

What a beautiful place! Are you having a good time?"

As if things couldn't turn up any higher, Swedish House Mafia began playing a remix of Coldplay's 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' and surprised us with a massive thank you to our country, Malaysia, for hosting them and their One Last Tour here.

What's behind the blast of sparks?

Ta-daa! It's our very own Malaysian flag, the Jalur Gemilang!

The boys began waving it in the air throughout that track

That moment itself was truly a wondrous sight.

Needless to say, patriotism ignited within me and I felt a certain sense of pride for my country all over again.

Thousands and thousands of Malaysians screamed in unison

Another touching, poignant moment for some of us was when the progressive powerhouses began playing the beautiful track, 'Don't You Worry Child', the forth single off their latest album, Until Now.

Yes, Elizabeth…it's time.

This is for you, Eli.

Letting go a pink heart-shaped helium balloon with the words

'RIP Elizabeth with ♥, you're heaven sent'

What really made me burst into tears while singing along to 'Don't You Worry Child' was when that ONE pink balloon didn't make its way up into the sky like the rest of the balloons, but floated directly to Swedish House Mafia during this song.

It was almost as if Eli wanted to be closer to her idols and get the best view of all of her friends gathering there on her behalf.

Steve Angello releasing her into the sky

Even after Steve Angello caught that pink balloon, held it and let it go into the sky again, that pink balloon wasn't ready to leave us all just yet. Guess she still wanted to enjoy herself partying with us all and Swedish House Mafia.

The pink balloon refused to go anywhere and stayed on top of the DJ console.

I recall crying like an emotional wreck. Dang! During a rave? That's a first!

Look at my mascara all smeared. Argh!

Anyway, I soon cheered up again when Swedish House Mafia continued taking the party to the next level with harder, progressive tracks in the second half of their set.

Here's a video I made encapsulating my night.

httpv://youtu.be/rcOC5JGu9eM

Enjoy! I took a while to make this :D

Make sure you watch till the end to catch them performing all their best songs, fireworks blasting, amazing pyrotechnics (fire), crazy laser shows, helium balloons floating in the air and ONE very special pink heart-shaped helium balloon that floated its way directly to Swedish House Mafia when they were performing.

More laser lights shot through the party, fireworks burst out at the stage and into the sky!

The show came complete with pyrotechnics, descending sparks of fire and combustions of flame shots in perfect sync with the heavy beats and bass drops too.

The blue and yellow flames literally turned up the heat where I was standing!

The second half of their set saw them dropping tracks like 'Sweet Disposition' by The Temper Trap, 'Sunrise' by The Aston Shuffle, 'Resurrection' by Michael Calfan, Axwell's remix of 'In My Mind' by Ivan Gough as well as their originals, 'Miami 2Ibiza', 'One (Your Name)', 'Save the World' and yes, again..'Don't You Worry Child'.

An estimated number of more than 22,000 fans were given a spectacular one last show tonight.

We sang along, jumped, danced and partied long and hard despite the sporadic downpour.

Yup, no amount of rain can dampen our spirits.

Certainly not in the name of Swedish House Mafia.

Dear Angello, Ingrosso and Axwell, are you proud of us?

And thanks for the confetti burst.

I had to spend a while getting all the coloured paper off me as I was soaked to the core.

The paper somehow was a chore to peel out LOL

Thank you for choosing Malaysia as one of the few countries to perform your One Last Tour.

If there ever was another chance to party and rave with you boys – even in the rain – I would do it all over again. The show was marvellous, you guys did not disappoint, not even one bit!

Ending the night with a blast!

I wish you well in your solo careers!

A possible collaboration or reunion in the future would be nice. Just saying. Heh. Heh. Heh.

Goodbye Swedish House Mafia, I love you! :kiss

Future Music Festival Asia 2013 returns on an epic scale! Pre-party + First line-up of artistes!

January 19, 2013 by thejessicat

It could've passed off as a regular Wednesday night for anyone, but no… not when Future Music Festival Asia (FMFA) 2013 is concerned.

Last Wednesday night brought down the house with FMFA 2013's first pre-party, comprising a solid line-up whose music and wicked bass resonated the walls of The Butter Factory, KL!

Brought along the other half to enjoy the night with me

Courtesy of Livescape Asia, I was pleased to be invited to the Future Music Festival 2013's first pre-party of the year; it's never too early to hype yourself up!

Not even a weekday night could stop me from saying heck yeah, let's do this.

The peeps behind FMFA 2013 even brought down AN21 and Max Vangeli to spin tonight!

When I arrived, what caught my attention wasn't only the booming sounds by DJ Eva T, but it was also the platoon of face-painted partyrockers dancing right in the middle of the dance floor!

They were congregating just beneath the stage to showcase a pretty epic dance-off amongst each other.

A few of them even beckoned me to join! I totally would have, but as I was carrying my DSLR and few lenses on me, I had to decline. Bummer!

Wouldn't wanna risk dropping my gadgets or losing them in the crowd, would I?

DJ Eva T – dubbed Malaysia's Electronic Dance Music Queen

Watching her tonight and recalling my previous time watching her spin at Hennessy Artistry Halo, she definitely lived up to her title!

Her set was a brilliant fusion of the finest mash-up of electronic dance tracks coupled with with the upbeat & contemporary sounds of electro house.

Watching them dance with their uniquely-painted faces would certainly make anyone do a double take!

Battling it down with some breakdancing, popping, shuffling, locking and dropping!

My view from the VIP deck upstairs

Despite being on the upper deck, I could already feel the dance floor burning up. Good job, guys!

Cooled myself down with the free-flow of Asahi beer after raving along with them

 *hic*

The next artiste on the line up was none other than fast-rising nu-breeds, B.A.T.E.

Duo Wai Hong & Ethan heating up the dance floor even more!

I've also watched them during the Heineken Progressive Party in Penang and during the final instalment of Hennessy Artistry late last year and I'm loving what I'm hearing so far.

Being relatively new in the DJ scene did not stop them from being a popular favourite already!

Turning up the volume with their set of disco, techno, big room and electro tracks tonight.

The face-painted party rockers took to the stage and boogied something that reminded me of Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' music video.

Don't stop, take it higher!

On the upper deck, the party was just as crazy, if not crazier!

We were all enjoying the music over the free-flow and finest selection of drinks

Bottles and bottles of Moet & Chandon champagne were being popped at almost every table

Time for the few party photos I snapped with my friends tonight!

With Jo, Konzy and Leng Yein

Kev and I

Konzy and I (yeah I know my face is red already, the Asian flush LOL)

Leng Yein and I

We were projected on the walls of the party too!

Escalating the party to the skies were the main acts of the night, duo AN21 and Max Vangeli.

Their big sounds got the party headbanging with influences of progressive house, electro house and tech house beats, among other EDM sub-genres.

It was fun watching the two best friends play LIVE before me!

You must be wondering… why does AN21 look familiar?

Doesn't he resemble Steve Angello (of Swedish House Mafia) a little?

Well, that's because AN21 is Steve Angello's brother!

The party went on all night till the wee hours of the morning

It's not everyday you get to watch AN21 and Max Vangeli spin ya'know!

Tonight's pre-party sure as hell got me all fired up for Future Music Festival Asia 2013.

Two days back-to-back of the most epic Asian instalment of an international music festival yet!

Are you going?

I couldn't hear what you just said, but I'm sure it's a YES

I can't wait to relive the party again… last year's Future Music Festival Asia 2012 was a blast.

For now, let's move on to the second stage okay? The hardcore line-up got me jaw-dropping in excitement!

Prodigy presents: Warrior Dance Arena

First up, is of course, The Prodigy themselves.

English EDM group, famous in the late 90s, boasts various styles like hardcore techno, industrial music, electronic rock, dance-punk and breakbeat!

American producer – Kill the Noise, well known for his Drum and Bass, Dubstep, Electro and House!

Drum and Bass, Dubstep and Electro House producer Jon Gooch's dubstep project – Feed Me

Canadian progressive-electronic, death-electro and dubstep duo – Zed's Dead

OHMYGAWD I'm so lucking forward to rave to their music (P/S they're pretty cute too)

Israeli dubstep producer – Borgore (he used to be a death-metal drummer!)

Third Stage

To be announced soon!

Red Bull Stage

To be announced soon!

So there you go! Hope you enjoyed reading the information I've compiled.

Writing this got me even more pumped up than I already am for Future Music Festival Asia 2013! I guess I'll be at the Warrior Dance Arena for the most part (after Gangnam Styling with PSY, of course hahahaha!)

But then again, we'll see what the Third Stage and Red Bull Stage has in store for us first, yes?

Future Music Festival Asia 2013 – be there, or be square!

You can stay updated with the latest about FMFA 2013 on their official website, their Facebook page or their Twitter page. See you at the rave!

Adios, amigos!
