It has just underwent a change of location. The show is back on, fellow ravers!

See you at Club Platinum 21 KL! Big Smile

The address is as follows:

Club Platinum 21

The Icon

———————————————-

As if the tidal wave of rave parties and music festivals has been decreed to remain on a continuous high all year round, we now have yet another exciting event to look forward to this weekend.

A 12-hour endurance rave, no less!

I personally am still replenishing my depleted energy from the back-to-back rave last Friday and Saturday, but I bet I’ll be fine come this Saturday for Mysterious – Journey to the Sound. Certainly not going to miss this for the world.

Event details:

WHAT? Mysterious – Journey to the Sound

WHEN? 26th April 2013 (2PM // Saturday)

WHERE? Malaysia International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC)

at Mines Resort City

HOW MUCH? RM158 (regular) // RM258 (VIP)

For some of you who aren’t too familiar with the EDM (Electronic Dance Music) scene, you might be wondering – who are these DJs? Are their tracks nice? Have they made any outstanding remixes, Beatport chart toppers or are they listed on DJ Mag’s top 100 DJs in the world? Surprised

Let me tell you one thing. If you’re a fan of vocal trance, progressive house and electro, you will be in for a treat as Mysterious Asia – Journey to the Sound is hosting some of the world’s most talented acts this weekend.

Ha HaHa HaHa Ha

Allow me to introduce you the 9 international artists of the night.

I was going to feature them in no particular order, but since the DJ set times have just been announced, here they are according to their time slots on the line up!

REECE LOW (5pm-6pm)

Electro and House DJ-Producer based in Melbourne.

Check out the rest of his works on Soundcloud – here

JACOB VAN HAGE (6pm-7pm)

House & Progressive House DJ-Producer from the Netherlands.

Check out his live performance at Tomorrowland 2013 on Soundcloud – here

2 FACED FUNKS (7pm-8pm)

Progressive & Electro DJ-Producer Dutch duo signed under Armada Records.

Check out their latest release – Underdog! Loved it.

BOBINA (7pm-8pm)

Russian Progressive House & Trance DJ-Producer. Ranked #47 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ list.

Radio show host of ‘Russia Goes Clubbing‘.

Personal recommendation: His 2011 album ‘Rocket Ride’

*Do note the time clash between 2Faced Funks and Bobina.

Well, as the locals say, pandai-pandailah adjust your time, kan? Big Smile

TONY ROMERA (8pm-9pm)

French Electro, House & Progressive DJ-Producer.

I’m nuts over his latest ‘Go Nuts‘ and his remix of Nicky Romero & Calvin Harris’ ‘ ‘Iron’!

NARI & MILANI (9pm-10pm)

Italian Electro DJ-Producer duo. Take a listen to their works on Soundcloud here!

SANDRO SILVA (10pm-11pm)

House DJ-Producer from the Netherlands is known to be Laidback Luke’s prodigy!

Who can ever forget his collabo with Quintino on ‘Epic‘?

Gets me jumping each time it is played. Except when I’m driving of course. Tongue Out

Thumbs up!

TENISHIA (above) ALONG WITH SUSANA (below)

Top Maltese DJs with fine works of Progressive Trance. Listed as #65 on DJ Mag’s Top 100.

Check out their tracks and remixes on Beatport.

That soothing, melodious voice you hear on tracks by Aly & Fila, Bobina, Markus Schulz?

It’s none other than Trance vocalist, Susana. And we’ll be hearing those vocals LIVE!

Check out her collabo in ‘Without You‘.

And that’s a wrap! A brief introduction on all the international acts.

Now it’s your turn to get to know them and their music this weekend, yeah? Big Boss

Oh, and on a side note, I will be interviewing Bobina as well as Tenishia before their set.

If you’re particularly interested in something about their lives/DJing or anything at all, do let me know if there are any questions you want me to ask them.

I will try my best to accommodate your questions into the interview! 😀

Will I see you this weekend? I better! 😀

Let’s rave our 12 hours to the skies. Are you ready? ‘Cos I am.

Roar! It’s a safari in there. Future Music Festival Asia 2014 Day 1: Welcome to the Jungle!

April 5, 2014 by thejessicat

What do you do when you wake up to an invitation to the largest and most anticipated rumble in the jungle yet to shake the grounds of South East Asia?

You roar with delight and swing from tree to tree to the party grounds with your favorite Tarzan in tow, of course.

2014-03-13 16.22.39

Super-pumped for the safari-themed rave party that is Future Music Festival Asia 2014.

Thank you, Asahi Malaysia!

 2014-03-13 16.17-horz

En route to the Bukit Jalil National Stadium!

 2014-03-13 18.17.27

Look what greeted us the moment we entered the vicinity?

It’s GUY the pink Corntoz horse mascot!

   2014-03-13 18.48.10

Picture time with (half) the giant pink horse!

 2014-03-13 18.17.39

The jungle awaits us all!

Despite the haze, we partygoers still soldiered on. Foot in Mouth

But I was glad the amazing organizers, Livescape Asia, took precautionary measures and provided face masks for us all.

2014-03-13 19.11.31

To my surprise, I found a selfie of the boys wearing their face masks in my camera, so I’ll just post it up LOL

Who takes selfies from the bottom angle anyway? Selfie-noobs 😛 😛

Haha kidding! You know I love you both!

2014-03-13 19.11.42

Photo-ception! So this is Joseph taking a photo of us with Prashant taking a photo of

Omer and Maisa doing the exact same pose as we are LOL

 2014-03-13 19.15.25

Another pretty sight that greeted us. Just like FMFA 2013, this year’s installment

also featured a Ferris wheel for its party animals.

     2014-03-14 10.12.29

Outfit of the Day! I was terribly indecisive of what to wear on the first day

as all of us decided to go in black so I ended up in this.

 2014-03-13 15.40.58

I initially wore this but then it struck me that nobody wears long pants to a rave.

Plus, my top wasn’t black. It was very dark green and I didn’t wanna be the odd one out from the group!

Anyway! We all got to the showgrounds of Bukit Jalil by 5PM, and waited for the rest to arrive.

Selfie time! Laughing

2014-03-13 18.46.19

Guess what happened when Stella and I were busy taking selfies?

 2014-03-17 11.58.14

Photobomber alert!

2014-03-14 10.16-horz

A selfie (or two!) in peace without the photobomber!

2014-03-14 10.00.23

Chilling by the Ferris Wheel!

   2014-03-14 10.14.50

Maisa and I.

When we finally managed to round the entire herd up, we dived straight in to explore the safari! Ahh!

2014-03-13 19.23.23

Group shot with the mates! Men (and women) in Black yo!

So glad to bump into my other buddies right at the entrance.

Music really brings long lost friends together! Devil

2014-03-14 10.07.41

Wahid and I

 2014-03-14 10.08-horz

Theresa and I

2014-03-13 19.32.16

Grabbed a beer at the Asahi counter.

Save water; drink beer! 😛 😛

By the time we finally got to the stage, the sun was almost setting and I didn’t manage to catch the first two acts.

This was what I missed! Exciting

The first act of the show: Local DJ Eva T!

The second act of the show: Local DJ duo, B.A.T.E

Pretty sure they did a fantastic job at hyping the crowd up for the international acts

Canadian electronic dance duo  Adventure Club was already on the decks as we kick-started our first rave of the day at 7.45pm!

2014-03-13 19.51.28

Adventure Club droppin’ us some sick beats

Influenced by the sounds of Flux Pavilion and Skrillex, the duo comprise Christian Srigley and Leighton James

I loved Adventure Club’s set as it was right up my alley with dubstep, electro house, drum step and all the 150bpm and above. If I remember correctly, I think I ended up shuffling with a random guy wearing an anonymous mask during their set.

Whoever you are, you dance well! Ha Ha

By 8.30pm, Aussie-born Will Sparks took to the stage and gave us a dash of his fine electro-house works.

Melbourne-based Will Sparks spinning on stage.

I watched him play LIVE back in Aussie too! He was just as good tonight, if not better!

2014-03-13 23.58.13

His tracks got the crowd jumping all with our arms in the air!

2014-03-14 09.45.05

Quick shot with the boys mid-raving!

2014-03-14 09.48.58

 TheJaanu and I

2014-03-14 09.19.27

Trippy smiles are the best smiles! Big Smile

2014-03-14 09.54.33

Since we’re already at it, why not have another group shot, eh? 😉

 2014-03-14 02.31.28

And another! The Asahi glow sticks were just too pretty.

There’s even switch for you to choose the mode of lighting for it.

At 9.30pm, R3hab stole the limelight and swept us off our feet with his darker tracks, which reminded me a lot of psytrance and industrial sounds. The popular Dutch house act also entertained us with his energetic stunts on stage. Smile

R3hab didn’t only make us jump; he got into the action too!

Waving our arms from right to left with R3hab who interacted with his crowd superbly well!

2014-03-13 21.26.08

Shutting our eyes and letting the music save our souls!

Took a short break from all that raving as I was drenched in sweat from head to toe.

Selfie time! Kiss

2014-03-14 09.46.16

Stella and I

2014-03-14 09.53-horz

Fun fact:  I usually only selfie when I’m bored.

So the number of selfies of myself I have in my camera represents a scale of how bored I am at an event.

Can’t believe this is the only selfie of myself the entire night!

This means that I was enjoying myself way too much at FMFA – it’s a given!

2014-03-16 16.34.03

More party pictures of the night

2014-03-14 09.18.19

Clinging on to my Asahi glowstick! So many people tried to snatch it away from me.

Get your own! ROAAAAR! Yell

2014-03-14 09.23.41

We were so exhausted at this point of time.

R3hab never gave us a rest! His tracks were way too progressive and got us head-banging to no end. Woots!

2014-03-14 00.27.37

Stella and I taking a rest by the adorable pink leopard print phone booth.

By 11pm, the crowd was already summoning our favorite mouse up on stage.

There was a moment of silence as the lights and lasers turned up a notch for the star of the night.

Our king of the safari – Deadmau5!

2014-03-13 23.26.51

Deadmau5 also got down from his throne to party with us.

T’was awesome  to be watching the legendary mouse of the EDM scene up close!

The progressive house DJ-Producer had us all caught up in his mouse trap.

Bolts of red and blue lighting flashed through the arena as Deadmau5 pounded his crowd into nothing but what I would call grated cheese to fuel his insane energy levels!

2014-03-13 22.35.48 HDR

 Raise your weapon!

[youtube url=”http://youtu.be/1xCB8KOOtCA” width=”700″ height=”400″ full=”no” ]

Here’s a video from Deadmau5’s set!

2014-03-13 22.34.06

Do we see some Ghosts n’ Stuff in the arena? Hell Boy

Deadmau5’s set really shot us into a frenzy of electro house delights!

By the end of the night, we were reduced to piles of sweat and in dire need of an energy boost! After 8 hours of hardcore raving, jumping and catapulting ourselves to the skies, one can only expect us to crave for more. Alien

Ironic, right? But hey, it’s only because Future Music Festival Asia 2014 certainly exceeded our expectations.

Looking forward to Day 2, featuring A State of Trance 650. Looks like we’ll have to recharge our depleting energy levels for another night of mayhem!

2014-03-15 23.59.04

Thank you so much, Asahi Malaysia, for the invitation to such wilderness!

I had a fantastic night. Cool

Definitely kept my thirst quenched with your ice-cold beer, considering the fact that mineral water costed 10 bucks. (Yeah, I don’t know why either). Surprised

2014-03-15 20.31.36

Exhausted and lumbering around like dehydrated zombies but here’s a final group shot.

Yup, one for the road! See ya’ll tomorrow for a trance-tastic night!

What’s happening this Valentine’s weekend?

For all you overzealous people who loves planning in advance, here’s an idea. Bring your other half for a very different Valentine’s celebration!

Or if you’re a lonely, single heart (like I am now LOL) you can round up your mad hatter group of friends and partymates to rock the dance floor with you – VIP style!

Maxis is throwing this concert in conjunction with their Chinese New Year festivities

Hailing all the way from Taiwan, award winning Hip Hop act Da Mouth will make their way to our Malaysian shores this February.

The four-piece band comprises rapper MC40, DJ Chung Hua, and their male & female vocalists Harry and Aisa (Japanese!), respectively.

This will be my first time watching Da Mouth perform live.

Pretty keen to check out what they’re made of on stage, as they’re popularly dubbed as Asia’s very own version of The Black Eyed Peas!

The second main act comes from our brethren across the causeway – Singapore!

Fusing a galaxy of EDM to her belt from electro, trance, progressive to big room house, DJ Tenashar’s raging stamina and musical sass has shone dynamically.

With energy to spark any party and epic excitement from her thousands of fans, the Singaporean starlet will turn any dance floor she helms into a party scene.

Yup…. no surprise. Am I right, lads? Tongue Out

She’s also been voted as World #87 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs in the world.

Check out the video trailer of what to expect when you catch Da Mouth and DJ Tenashar live in concert!

Looks pretty fun! I honestly can’t wait to rave to DJ Tenashar’s set and to check out the much-talked about Da Mouth for the first time.

They’re not the only artistes performing for us, by the way.

Model-turned-DJ Leng Yein and I at a recent event.

Good on you jie! Nail the dance floor, yeah? x

Supporting acts for the show will be 3 local female DJs – DJ Leng Yein, DJ Nikki and DJ Jerryca Misty. Let’s hope they all rock my Saturday night. Laughing

After all… it’s the weekend of Valentine’s and for the first time, I don’t have anyone to rock it for me LOL.

So they better do a good job! Big Smile

Presenting the House of Guinness – Phat Barrels KL @ Publika Shopping Gallery

January 25, 2014 by thejessicat

With the walls of this brand new tavern plastered with interesting beer-oriented decor and teeming with all things Guinness, it is no wonder why Phat Barrels KL is heralded the ‘House of Guinness’.

This latest addition to Publika’s line-up of watering holes had a seemingly cosy your-local-neighbourhood-pub setting to it, with dark wooden furnishings, exposed brickwork, bare granite walls, tall beer barrel-shaped tables and olden-day, monochrome artwork illuminated by dim spotlighting.

By the bar of Phat Barrels! Cool

Yes, you peeps totally should. Why? Read on. 😀

Last Thursday, I was invited to the soft launch of Phat Barrels for a night of live music, delicious pub grub, imported/micro-brews/hand-crafted beers and an engaging atmosphere.

New kid on the block is looking packed on the first day!

Let’s give this new watering hole a little tour, shall we? Big Smile

Celebrations always seem synonymous with balloons, streamers and bright colours!

(( Outfit of the day)) Jessicat wears:

Dress by Miss Selfridge |Black pumps a gift from dearest Uncle Mike

| Accessories by Diva | Bag from a bazaar in Singapore

 Gorgeous usherettes serving us canapes!

The overall look and feel of Phat Barrels KL

Patrons enjoying their beer towers and munchies!

Sephia Guinness-themed artwork framed on the walls.

Here’s my favorite! Cheers, Obama! 😀 Drink up!

The barrel-like tables of Phat Barrels.

The popcorn machine  piqued my interest!

And we only know good things can pop out of that machine!

 A night’s treat of Guinness-flavoured popcorn.

Most people flock to Phat Barrels for three main things – to dine, tap and chill!

And that’s exactly what we did all night.

On to the first – DINING!

Here are some of the European pub grub we had for dinner, courtesy of Phat Barrels.

 Lamb Shank

The portion was of a sizable wonder! This was tender, delicious and definitely marinaded very well too.

 Spaghetti Aglio Olio

I didn’t taste it but my buddies who did had no complaints!

 The Bavarian Platter

Strictly for sharing unless you have a the appetite of the whole African continent

It probably doesn’t look huge from the photo but trust me, it is! Several of us shared this with delight.

It consisted of chicken fillets, beef back ribs, beef short ribs,

two different kinds of sausages, and a serving of fries.

Beef Sirloin Steak

This was done medium. Loved how juicy this was! The sauce complimented the meat superbly.

Second – TAPPING!

We had free-flow of Guinness towers and other beers by the Guinness-Anchor group.

What I’m sipping on is a tall glass of Tiger Radler!

Check out what Guinness did later in the year at their AMPLIFY Live Tour here if you’re into soulful music and good beer!

On to the third – CHILLING.

Cue the party pictures for the night with some of my fave girls and boys. Enjoy!

We dined, tapped and chilled the night away over live entertainment by local band 9 Lives.

I had fun singing along to their crooning of popular R&B, soothing Blues and contemporary Pop Rock numbers!

Band set up by the raised platform of Phat Barrels.

Lead singer Joy’s melodic voice and the band’s instrumental skills

was the perfect musical accompaniment of our evening.

Thank you Phat Barrels, for having me on a fantastic night of celebration and weekday evening escape!

Now do you know why you totally should’ve been here?Big Smile

Like violinists and quartets? Check out String Musicians.

Ready to get wicked this weekend? See you at Wicked Festival 2013 featuring Axwell and Zedd!

November 22, 2013 by thejessicat

This Saturday will be the day that I’ve been waiting for!

What else do you think it will be?

Let’s get wicked this weekend! Wink

Hahaha. The organizers sure got themselves some humour there. LOL!

It came with a very sweet letter too. Thanks, Wicked Entertainment!

FuriousThere had been rumors in the wind and shadows shifting in the dark. Tales of all things wicked, creatures of the night and music coming alive.

Two legendary EDM superheroes from a land faraway will lead hordes of insane electronic music lovers come this Saturday night.

Heed the words of caution as this is not for the faint-hearted. Rumors, they are certainly not.

One more sleep till Axwell and Zedd blow our minds to bits as our very own Malaysian EDM music fest has descended upon us – Wicked Festival 2013 is finally happening! Deets as follows:

WHAT? WICKED FESTIVAL 2013

WHERE? SEPANG INTERNATIONAL CIRCUIT, MALAYSIA

 WHEN? 23RD NOVEMBER 2013 6PM TILL LATE

Saving the world and bringing us back to life is Axwell, of (now defunct) Swedish House Mafia fame.

In my mind, in my head, this is what we’re waiting for!

Watch Axwell’s full set at this year’s Tomorrowland 2013 in Belgium, Germany!

Can you believe he’s coming to play for us? Well..  BELIEVE IT.

Showing us some clarity for the night will be young EDM prodigy, Zedd!

It will be a spectrum of havoc, for sure!

Zedd’s amazing set at this year’s Ultra Music Festival 2013 in Miami, USA!

So there you have it. Cool

Leave the world behind and stay the night, for they will be headlining the party, full speed ahead.

Hell BoyThe magnitude of talents will melt your brains as No_ID from Amsterdam takes the stage along with local heroes – DJ Nikki, BATE, Hightech, Ramsey Westwood and Captain Ed.

The punches will come, blow after blow, one after another, all in a single night.

Ready to get wicked? Laughing

Full artiste line-up!

Tickets can be purchased RM129 (Presale), RM169 (At the Door) and RM259 (VIP).

Get yours at ticketpro.com.my, Rock Corner & Victoria Music Centre at all major shopping malls and Muscle Mania outlets.

A final word of caution to the faint-hearted: hide your children, lock your doors.

As for the rest of you… Wanna get wicked?

See you on the other side. *evil laughter* Electric Shock
