Conquering the cinema

May 4, 2009 by thejessicat

He’s Just Not Into You

Believe me, that movie made me laugh & cry & laugh & cry
The crying part however, did not ONLY come from the movie. You shall see why soon.

The moment I arrived, Joshua told me,

“Hi Jess, meet Jess!”

David, why do you have such an astonished look on your face? 😛

It wasn’t surprising to meet another Jess;
but it was,
to meet another Jess of my height. ROFL

36 peeps altogether then marched towards the theaters on the highest floor and continued more mingling. Among the highlight of the day was when Jess mentioned to Aaron :

“Hey Aaron, you actually look very nice today!”

I couldn’t stifle my laughter the moment I heard that. Hmm.. should he take that as a compliment, or a sub-conscious insult? But awww c’mon, we all know Jess meant it as a compliment 🙂

Are you ready peeps?

The movie was fab! I’d give it a 5/5 rating. It really gave me a lot of hindsight of the way two very different yet similar beings called the male and the female, work psychologically. Uh-huh. Being gurls can be quite complicated, but being guys well, can be even more complex! No worries, we gurls understand. J

At the part where the male star gave a surprise proposal to Jennifer Aniston,

(sorry, I’m tragic at screen names)

Pam said to me “How come guys don’t do these things in real life?”
And I went “Haha. Maybe they prefer to skip the drama?”

AND SUDDENLY
The screen warped to photos of an unfamiliar couple. I was puzzled, how come I didn’t notice these two people throughout the movie? It turned out, that Mr.Romeo wanted to give his lady a surprise proposal too. A live band played in front of all of us and the lucky gurl was surprised, I could tell. Mr.Romeo then gave his speech and asked for her hand in marriage.

BEFORE HE EVEN FINISHED HIS SPEECH, TEARS STREAMED DOWN A FEW OF OUR FACES – INCLUDING ME! Like, wtf? I’m not even the one he’s proposing to, why the eff was it touching enough for me and the rest to cry?

Pam & I went “AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW”
So dramas do happen in real-life after all.

I guess all the gurls will already be expecting more from their to-be fiances’? Sorry men, Mr.Romeo here has just spoiled the market for yall!

The after-movie picture.

We then chilled by Laundry Bar for some drinks and NIGEL’S SEAFOOD PLATTER. Hahaha! Kidding, pal. Some drinks and random chit-chats more of. I was sitting at the far (read : very very far) end around Nigel, Kel, David and Jen. Wanna see how far away we are?

Kel & I look like black dots splattered on the world map
While Yat & Tallen gets all the glory!
😛

That being said, Imma give Nigel, Kel, Jen and myself more glory. ROFL. Take that!

A nice montage by Nigel :

Spot me? Since there’s two Jess’

Aightey, tick-tock goes the clock. Yat was nice enough to take me back home, as I didn’t have any transport back! Thanks, pal.

To the buddies, I had a blast with you guys!
And to the new peeps I’ve met too, nice meeting yall for the 1st time!

Malaysian Devil Wears Prada?

April 1, 2009 by thejessicat

Day #1 of my intern life begins today! Daymmm.. it feels so enlightening; getting a taste of the real working world. I know I still have a long way to excavate what’s in store for me, but hey, this is as far as I can get at 20.

… and I’m getting there!

After a few test-drive rounds were made with dearRoomie 2days prior to today and guess what? It only takes me a mere 10minute drive on the Federal Highway to get to work! Perhaps another 10 minutes for me to park and grab some morning bites.

workfood
Snacks from… (you’ll know as you read on)

For some reason or another, I skipped brekkie. I blame it on the butterflies-in-my-stomach syndrome. Yeah yeah, newbies always feel a tad intimidated. And that’s a fact. ^_^

In my opinion, the ladies here are the epitome of sophisticated urban women. Both my immediate superiors – are classy, chic and stylish. Oh and, there was a red-head in the house too!
The guys were really friendly peeps too. They came over to my desk to say hi.

“Jess, you joined us on the right day!”
Chimed my colleague, Chris, when I joined the crowd at the pantry

Apparently, someone came back from Dubai, Chris himself returned from Spain. (Yes Spain, OMFG nicey) and they brought back some goodies!

cookie
Such luck huh? Candies FTW!

There were Toblerones (white choc & dark choc) some Feine Vollmilch-Chocolade, Toffee sweets and chocolate-chip cookies! Seriously, those cookies were the bomb. Idk which ingredient drugged me but jeez, I loved it. It was soft yet oozing with chocolatey taste.

Remind me to buy that if I ever go to Dubai.
Ever.

My chronicles as an intern in a magazine company prolly isn’t as melodramatic as those big-time movies like ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ and award-winning series ‘Ugly Betty’. But hey, I’ll document it sufficiently yet relatively general (to avoid breeching the contract I’ve signed) for my reading pleasure and yours.

But for a start, I would safely say that my boss
ain’t as hostile as illustrated above

Neither would I ever be a total klutz
as the star pictured below

Aight, it’s almost clocking into 7pm now.
Waiting for my ride to watch the premier screening of Fast & Furious 4 with my fellow bloggers tonight!

Where blood & Jessica doesn't mix

October 7, 2008 by thejessicat

When it comes to charity or donating for a good cause, I’m no stranger. But the only friggin thing that I will support by just ‘being there’ or giving my moral support is BLOOD DONATION.

Yep, that’s right. As much as I love morbid stuff, one thing I cannot stand watching blood donation in process or the bags and bags of blood packets in the hospital.

Things as such will make me :

Photobucket

Yeah so you can clearly see here when I accompanied Benjie to donate his blood (to that Leukemia-stricken child) I was on my lappy, plus blocking my view from that bloody needle.

Photobucket
That’s Benj’s hand squeezing the rubber ball

Just because I refuse to witness it, it doesn’t mean you are exempted! =P =P Not for the weak of heart. Here you go:

Photobucket
Nurse sticking the needle past his epidermis into his vein

Photobucket
Vein detected : Retrieving blood 3% in process

ZOMG ZOMG this is where I will shudder in geli-ness

Photobucket
Blood drawing its way out *glug glug glug*

Photobucket
Blood retrieval process completed successfully at 100%
Please remain solitary to avoid giddiness

Hmm.. so anyway, Benji and I watched ‘Eagle Eye’ last night. Oh but before that, we managed to catch sight of a very faint rainbow after the heavy drizzle.

Photobucket

So yeah, back to ‘Eagle Eye’ and believe me, it was the BOMB (no pun intended) It began very dryly though and I was quite certain I was enroute to falling asleep but after the 1st 15 minutes, MY EYES WERE WIDE OPEN TILL WE LEFT THE CINEMA.

Photobucket

No spoilers but.. technology haven’t been that advanced and centrally dominant before. Awesome stuff they have in the United States for security. Watch out for the chase in the airports. Don’t forget your popcorn!

Oh and.. my hearthrob Shia LaBeouf is the main star. It’s been a longlong time since I’ve ever had a star crush but hey, he broke the record.

Photobucket

He has this IDK-what’s-going-on look but he’s hot nonetheless. This adorable yet gorgeous young star has made me a fan of all his movies ever since. Namely: Constantine, Disturbia, Transformers, Indiana Jones and the latest, Eagle Eye.

Photobucket
Can I say it again?
OMFG HE’S SO CUTE.

okthankshaha.
Anyone likes him too?
Okok enough.

That’s that for ‘Eagle Eye’ and I really do hope you’ll watch it. ^_^
For today, Benji and I are going on a movie marathon again. I’ve got two tickets for the screening of ‘Disaster Movie’ in GSC tonight.

Photobucket

Wheeee! Will tell you all about it!
*hugs*

YAY the very last person to post

September 30, 2008 by thejessicat

AHAHAHAHAA. I bet I should more or less be one of the last people to post on the nuffies’s Mama Mia screening in GSC Gurney Plaza. =)

However, I didn’t go for the movie despite wanting to soso much.
Exams can be a pain in the you-know-where.

Anyway, I made it a point to head to Gurney Plaza after exams on Monday night; right after my revisions for the next paper. Wanted to meet up Wenzi & Diese so much! But Wenzi was busy eating dinner and Diese was breaking her fast when I arrived. So… it’s Dance Dance Revolution in the arcade for me and boyfie while waiting.

Guess who I met also?

Photobucket
nuffies & shouters : JJ, CharlesKey & I

Yup, met them just outside the cinema.
Aishehhh JJ looks so smart in the striped shirt & Charles looks so cool in that bomber jacket thingy. Why, of course they look extra nice! Today is the day where everybody meets inside the cinema!

(of which I had to miss)

=(

Photobucket
Well, I’m glad I wasn’t the only Penang nuffie missing it.
Ceddy dear didn’t plan to attend it as well, but whilst walking around,
WE MET!

(psst: Look at him! Ain’t Ceddy the sweetest thing?)

Oh and btw, mission acomplished. I did meet up Wenzi & Diese. I had to storm to Kim Gary where the former was still in the middle of his dinner. Diese, Baynn and I met n chatted for a short while on the 7th floor.

wheeee at least we met!

But waaaaaiiiit a minute. I just recalled that I’ve met Wenzi before!

Photobucket
yes! I snapped a picture of him too!

Photobucket
… together with AlvinHaagenDaaz as well over supper at Northam Beach. I remember all of us sharing a plate of Satay when I ordered.
HAHA

Photobucket
To digress a little, boyfie & I have always thought of buying a pair of Crocs despite acknowledging that it is the ugliest looking thing on Planet Shoewear.

But.. the question still remains, why do people still buy and wear it around like it’s the hottest thing on earth?

I wonder.

BULLSHIT.

June 1, 2008 by thejessicat

Can you bullshit a bullshitter? Try us. XD

hohoho.. find out soon.

A whole day full of jam-packed action, who ever said three is a crowd?
I beg to differ.

Coincidence reigns again when the both of us were free and Carter was back from KayElle! Where to? Where to?

hohoho.. we had lunch at MY FAVOURITE FASTFOOD CHAIN, Subway

Oh and, I did my recipie thingy again. Where you place the chocolate chip cookie atop the warm steamy cup of cappucino! And the cookie will absorb all the aroma from the coffee which makes it twice as nice than it usually would!

A must-try.

Today was also the day when we found out that Rachel had a fetish for elderly men. Especially ones with white beards

Dei, woman. Stop convincing him to accept your beer.
He WON’T do you.
=P

Tummies full, butts won’t move. So we decided to stroll along Gurney Drive and feel the breeze for just a while. Amongst the rocks, sand, city skyline and the distant horizon, we chilled and watched?
The rubbish float in the sea.

hohoho. reality strikes.

Like I said, pictures are lies.
The WERE garbage in the sea, for sure!!

When all your troubles seem so close, cast them far away into the deep depth of the sea. Just like I did…

when the wind howls in reply, you’ll know that it’s taken care of.
It’s just a psychological thing.
Then again, it’s up to your overly-logical-and-scientific-mind to believe it =)

Three’s never a crowd!

Comfy
But two is definately company! =D

Tummies then allowed us to move around much now, we took it hardcore and hit the DDR – Dance Dance Revolution in the arcade!

It was fun & exhausting! Oh well, that’s when it gets even more intense ey? hahaha. I taught them all they needed to know about DDR and I’m glad they pick up well.

More rounds next time, yea? =D

The much-anticipated Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian was much of a disapointment. I’m not one to judge, but to most of my friends and I, and even my movie-junkie sweetheart says it wasn’t as good as the first movie.

Oh, we all agree with you professor.
=P

When nightfell, we headed down to BED to have some drinks and a few rounds of cards. Sans the money again. Hey that reminds me, budgetfoo next time we should include you huh? =P

Poker-faces, people.
Put on your poker-faces.
The thicker the better

DEI RAKANKU CARMEN

NO PEEKING AT THE CARDS!

That’s unfair

STOP IT.

but first

*psst.. who’s bullshitting?”

Hohoho. not bad of a bullshitter you guys are, f.y.i
And Daniel, my my… you were collecting cards like there was no tomorrow!
*gasp*

Oh and this is what my first sentence in this post meant:

Any challengers?
*winks*
