Bloggers Movie Meet by MAS

July 22, 2009 by thejessicat
As part of Malaysia Airline’s blogger outreach program, a Bloggers’ Movie Outing was organized. A handful of us bloggers were invited to join in the camaraderie in GSC Signature Class seats. Awesome! I was already anticipating to watch the latest installment of the Harry Potter series.

And hmm.. likewise to a fellow friend of mine?

yat
Is he lovin’ it? smilies
(Ohmy. Don’t skin me alive for this Yatz. haha!)

Well.. contrary to most of what my friends think of the show, I actually enjoyed it. Methinks Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince was actually pretty fine because I wasn’t expecting much nor preparing for a jaw-dropping drama of Hogwart fantasies.

Partly because I don’t fancy squinting my eyes through numerous lines of text with kerning I deem so bad that I’d skim through without much thought. Either that or I just despise reading. No offense to those of you who actually follow JK Rowlings’ novels.

Thumbs Up!
Imma share my top 5 movie scenes (in haphazard order) of which I actually enjoyed or was emotionally moved by.

Fave Scene #1

Ron was being very pessismistic about his Quidditch match and harboured thoughts of quiting. Being his friends, Harry and Hermione encouraged him with much moral support and the former actually pretended to give Ron his Liquid Luck potion.

group2
Liquid luck ain’t needed when friendship comes a-calling

It’s the Law of Attraction that helps. (Yes, don’t scorn me for listening to The Secret) Silly ol’ Ron now thinks, feels and believes that he could win the match after consuming the Liquid Luck. Truth is, he never even had a sip. Ya see? It’s all a state of mind.

And he won!
Sans luck.

Next up is.. *cough*

Forgive me, but I’ve always taken a liking to movie villians. Be it in cartoons or real-life films, I’d naturally be partial to the baddies free image hosting And Draco Malfoy is *swoons* such a badboy cutie. But HEY mind you, he did not kill Dumbledore even when he was forced to. Awww…

Fave Scene #2

Courtesy of Kelli for bringing me along, I managed to go all shimmery-eyed over Malfoy. Thanks babe! 🙂 But alas, she had to endure my starstruck lil squeals whenever he came on screen. Glad Jen shared my sentiments towards Malfoy!

junme
I don’t know about you Jun, but I sure fancy bad-ass figures.
*evil laughter*

Speaking of villains, let’s not forget this ass-kickin lady shall we?

Fave Scene #3

That’s Bellatrix. She’s one of the Death Eaters. Familiar? I love her sinister laughter. Amazing how she always appears in Tim Burton’s movies too. Such love! Well, she was that lady who bakes Human Meat Pies in Sweeny Todd – The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.

Fave Scene #4

Ya know how you just hate it when the cinema screen goes all friggin’ bright with outdoor sunlight after showing you scenes and scenes of dark, underground and indoor moments? But anyway, I could literally feel the magnitude when Harry took Dumbledore’s hand to whizz away to new and foreign destinations. Likes!

Fave Scene #5
(or basically any scene with Dumbledore in it)

And no, I do not have a fetish for older men.

ANYWAY.
I cannot believe I actually shed tears. It was mortifiying when I saw Dumbledore forcing himself to drink all that icky vile liquid – disregarding his pain and distress just so Harry can get his hands on the Horcrux. It turned out to be fake, at the end of the movie. I wanted to wrangle the producer. Or JK Rowling. Or whoever’s responsible for this! Darn.

indifferent smileysindifferent smileysindifferent smileysindifferent smileys

My waterpipes also burst when he was killed. I was crestfallen when Professor Snape murdered Dumbledore. Thanks Kel, for making me feel better by telling me you sobbed too when he died. At least I know I’m not alone free image hosting

but
I STILL CAN’T BELIEVE I CRIED
OVER A 150 YEAR OLD MAN

davjon
“ohmygoodness. You did?”
“hahaha!”

Overall, it was a very thought-provoking show with some emotionally moving scenes. Perhaps, it didn’t supplement the novel entirely well but then again, I don’t read. So I wouldn’t know. It’s just some two-cents I sourced from my other friends 🙂

group
Needless to say, I enjoyed myself with the company I was with
Thanks guys! 🙂

Land of the Lost.. STUPID SHOW!

June 27, 2009 by thejessicat

Just got back from a premier movie screening of Land of the Lost, courtesy of United International Pictures, Gabriel & Nigel . The 1st thing I’d like to say is… LOL @ Will Ferrell! He can be so delirious sometimes.

Did a lil research after the movie and found out that it was an old show. Hmm… my guess is that this installment is a remake.

benjicajessdotcom would like to know
how everyone else felt about the movie?

Check out the expressions, ’nuff said.

One thing’s for sure, this movie makes your intelligence level drop by 10 notches. Yes, it plunges down so deep I actually thought I lost my brain. Jaque (who was sitting beside me) and I felt that it was more to lame than funny.

If anyone is up for a movie that is intellectually backward, watch this stupid show. When I say stupid show, I mean stupid in capitals, font-colored red, bold, point-sized 48 and having my godbro Chris to express it for me. Like this :

STUPID SHOW

thanks gor!
At times, the level of lame moments in the movie had us raising our eyebrows. Okay fine… maybe there were a few funny parts in it – especially by Will Ferrell. Personally, I chuckled at both the parts of him being in the studio. The feud between him and the TV host was hilarious, especially at the end.

Randomly, I despise the aliens in the movie

It makes me think back of those RTM2 Ultraman cartoon series back in the days. I think blue screen animations has really got to me. And seeing repetitive images moving cocurrently makes my eyeballs boil in their sockets.

Don’t geddit? This is what I mean :

okay enough already.

One of my favorite parts was with Chaka though, I found him densely adorable. Sometimes, primitive characters can be intelligent too. But I found this neanderthal so innocent even when he groped the female busts of Holly (co-star) when introducing himself as Chaka.

Probably astonished by feminine characters

Hmm.. moving on, this movie screening was special in its own way too. I had another (mini) be-early birthday celebration in the cinema. Obviously much smaller than my previous one but still, awwwwww thanks!

Sharing the birthday cake with everyone!

Yes… everyone.
🙂

I didn’t expect it when buddy Nigel said “Eh. Your real birthdate notchet reach right?” and starting to sing Happy Birthday to me followed by others. EEEEE very shy la pal. LOL

We monkey-ed around

And of course, being bloggers… we can never take too many pictures.

Wooots!

When the movie was about to begin, we were forewarned that the movie is going to be real stupid. Ohwells, I guess a little stupidity is what we need to break free from stress too.

Everyone listening to The Man
all except Aaron 😛

Where we lost our intellect

When we got back into the land of reality

Just before we headed off for lunch, we grabbed a group photo as well

Take One!

Take two!

The whole lot of us proceeded for some nom nom session at Ikea

Ahh screw Land of the Lost.
Enter the world of the tech savy

Cosplay FTW + Blood The Last Vamp

June 11, 2009 by thejessicat

Before I rattle on, I declare that I’ve always stood my ground and will still stand firm with my opinion of Jap anime/manga shows or comics. Sorry sweets, but your author here is not an avid fan of anything Jap oriented. (except Jap food though)

Honestly, I don’t get the whole “Mushi-mushi I’m so kawaii nerhx” and neither do I get the damn ‘I-worship-Jap-harajuku-fashion’.

BUT SINCE I HAD AN INVITATION TO THE PREMIER OF
BLOOD : THE LAST VAMPIRE,
I DECIDED TO GIVE THE WHOLE JAP SCENE ANOTHER CHANCE

We got out tickets and headed upstairs

Before the movie began, there was a cosplay event going on in e@Curve (formally known as Cineleisure Damansara). I kinda admit, I love dressing up for costume parties so naturally, I was keen to see the cosplayers.

Tiny lil bomb I reckon capable of exploding your grey matter

There were lots of ’em all over the place. Check it out for yourselves

Me flanked by cosplayers

One of my personal fave shots

And I spotted gothic characters, finally… people with this similar interest! The style I’d go with at any costume parties. If you have been following my blog, you’ll notice that I’ve always attened costume parties as a goth-oriented character.

I’ve found my elements

Since I deem sharing is caring, here’s 2 more of them for you to relish. Have a taste of my dark fancies. Don’t know what I mean? Check out [here] and [here] for my goth cosplaying.

Simply beautiful, it’s so sinister!

Here’s the both of them. Hmm… interesting. I’d consider cosplaying with them if there were to be a chance!

There were Kenny Rogers’ muffins and Starbucks coffee served to all of us. It was all on the house!

Yummsters!

That Chinese zombie above was such a good actor as well. He kept hopping around to strangle us one by one.

Yipes. Strangely, why are images of gnarly murders planted in my mind now? I guess it’s due to all those ancient Chinese horror dramas my gramps used to watch back in the days.

More creepy images I’d conjure for you

LOL @ the photograph below. Zombies can eat donuts too ya’know.

But then again, it may be a donut made with human flesh

Some creatures actually feast among themselves. Talk about cannibalism yo!

Before we knew it, it was time to enter the theaters already. The amount of people jostling around, elbow-to-elbow shoulder-to-shoulder and I don’t wanna know which other anatomy was brushing against one another omfg, all just to secure a good seat inside.

Sardine packed; with not sardines but homosapiens.

The crowd went on crack when Animax goodie bags were being distributed. heh. Hate to admit, but I was among those greedy pigs wanting more freebies

I spotted some narcissism in action. Oh my goodness! 🙂

Camwhore busted!

The lead actress was really pretty though, she’s the kind of chick that can show the men that testosterone ain’t the only thing needed for some treacherous wrath. I love ladies who possess kick-ass attitude yet carry themselves femininely well.

The movie was pretty fine, except the part where the animation sucked worse than a degrading TV show scraped off RTM. The graphics were just downright awful. At the part where Saya was battling the vampies, it looked all so digitalized that I felt that I was watching some thing off some CGI – Computer Generated Imagery.

It was highly unnatural. Heck, you don’t see squarish blood dripping off a victim in real life do you? Neither do you see digitally accelerated movements when they run

After the movie, Ken decided that he wanted to be a vamp too

I took a candid of Joshua and decided to make something silly outta it.

After the premier, we all headed down to hangout with a warm cuppa from Starbucks. Okay fine, I had a warm cuppa. The others had ice blended stuff.

Jackie took this very candid photo of Nigel and I below. LOL both of us were talking and we obviously were unprepared for the shot.

Anyhoos, I’d say that Blood : The Last Vampire isn’t a movie that I’d pay to watch. Not ever. Nadda.

Enjoy the rest of the day, dear readers!

ROAAARRRRRR

No, I don’t play with states

June 10, 2009 by thejessicat

I’ve just returned from the premier screening of State Of Play and I must say, I was pretty apprehensive about the storyline before watching it. Standing on a completely biased ground initially, here’s my review.

Heck, Russel Crowe looked like a homeless stray hobbo in the movie. God bless the hair omfg. He can’t get any shabbier even if he tried. Like seriously, what’s with the unruly hair?

A journalist CAN be immaculate too ya’ know. We aren’t all that broody. YOU need a makeover, buddy.

They even have a pretty boring poster being publicized. It failed some brownie points from me, as it didn’t catch my eye! From the poster, I was expecting some long-winded movie filled with solemn moments of people talking.

But I was wrong.
Horribly wrong.

I loved the movie!
There never was a moment where I looked at the time nor reply an SMS. It kept my attention span in such a tight grip that I realized I was sitting bolt upright in the midst of showtime. Kel Li had her legs up like a trishaw woman (omg don’t murder me)

Rachel McAdams starred alongside Russel Crowe and Ben (omg the hottie) Affleck as well. I was inspired by her determined and inquisitive nature. Those characteristics are what I see in a true journalist.

It revolved around journalists digging for a case and a story… furious editors yelling their heads off for their poor lil minions to meet the deadline. Been there, done that…heh. I totally get it, very normal.

character smileys I loved the part where he was trapped in the basement carpark with the professional assassin! That part could probably make my pulsating heartbeat put a stampede to shame.

When I got home, buddyBenj and I were talking a wee bit about the movie. Yeah, he went online to watch every movie premiering in the United States. That’s so him LOL

We came to a conclusion that we preferred Rachel McAdams the bimbo in the movie Mean Girls.
She seemed too intelligent in this movie. XD

scuba diving in South Africascuba diving in South Africascuba diving in South Africa

The aesthetics of the movie was fantastic too. With excellent mis-en-scene and storyline, I’d say an excellent 20 thumbs up for this one. The company was great too, watched it with buddies Kel Li, Nigel, David, Jen, Aaron and LOL @ Thomas who had to leave halfway. *tsk tsk tsk*

Randomly, I like this picture because it
makes look like a little kid all over again

Though I don’t dig Jappy anime/manga, I’m going to catch the premier screening of Blood : The Last Vampire tonight. Let’s not hope that it’ll be another crappy vamp movie.

NO OFFENSE TO ALL THE TWILIGHT FANS OUT THERE.
I dislike Twilight I dislike Twilight I dislike Twilight

I was Terminated with them!

May 27, 2009 by thejessicat

I ain’t a die-hard fan of violent and action movies (except Resident Evil) but the latest installment of Terminator really got me going. Us bloggers were given tickets to catch the premier screening of Terminator : Salvation.

Thumbs up for the movie!

Right after work, I planned with a few other blogger buddies to grab some dinner before the show. As usual, the old-age question remains :

EAT WHAT AR?

Somehow, we decided on Manhattan Fish Market.
One of my personal faves back in Penang. Whoopedoo!
While the rest were skimming through the menu making life&death decisions on what to have for dinner, I kept my hands busy with my camera as usual. Check ’em out!

smilies
Excuse me, don’t be so excited for Terminator

Awwwwwww *cough cough*

Everytime I yell “Jeff!”, he would turn towards me and flash me a huge grin which somewhat reminds me of Chef Wan promoting Kicap Udang

Had a picciesession with Wen, Ev and Jacque too
Just us, babes!

But the rest of the dudes wanted to join too!
whee

Side by side

Suddenly, I received an SMS which read : “You kat mana?” (Malay for Where are you?). I replied and along came someone… take a guess. Lionel arrived before we began chomping down some seafood.

Oh look, even he himself can’t take his pungent odour.
Hence the name Smellyhawk.
smilies

For those who follow my blog, you would all know I’m a hardcore fish lover. I’d choose fish over the likes of beef, chicken, pork, duck, mutton, frog and whatnot.

My meal came, and what else did I order but Salmon Pasta?
Loving it.
Finally, everyone else’s meal came. Time to stuff our faces, yo.

Alright already, let’s eat!

However, I caught sight of something which intrigued me. How amusing one looks when in doubt over how the food would be like.

DOES IT TASTE GOOD, ISAAC?

ooooookay.
I take that as a no?
winking smileys

Oh lookie, the rest brought out cameras too.

I just love shooting candids
Check out Lionel & Bern’s expression

Not to be missed, Alex & Suresh came at the very last minute to join us!

But the one who came the last and asked, “Is Jess there?” when I yelled “INARIKEN!” over Bern’s cellphone, was buddy Ken.

Inari Pendafluor Prawnello Ken
Try saying that repetitively in one breath for 3 whole minutes
mad smileys

Paid the bills, and rushed off to the Cineplexes upstairs to redeem our tickets. Thanks much to HuaiBin the fruitcake for bringing me there.

Screw our faded hair colors.

Don’t you just hate it? Argh.

Met my other buddies there as well – Jen, David and Kel

AND SOMEONE GREETED ME WITH A :
“TAKE A PICTURE OF ME, JESS!”
INSTEAD OF THE CONVENTIONAL :
“HI JESS!”

roar.

Nah.. your picture.
*reluctantly uploads*
heee. kidding pal. sad smileys

I spotted some very -cough- adorable people doing -cough- very adorable things.

Wowza.

Movie time!
Shut your cellphones (I bet no one does), throw your popcorns in the air and get ready to be annihilated by the terminator.
Oh and, my fave was the motor-terminator. The cutesy thing on the tiny bike.

Someone couldn’t get his hands off the popcorn.
LOL

scuba diving in Indonesia
The tattoo-ed kids on the block
Pierced and proud of it!

Okay okay. Watch.
I’m not spoiling it for you, but it’s really good!

Camwhored with a few other buddies after we got outta the theater.

AND FINALLY :

The after-movie picture!
Guys, grab it if ya’ want
