June 29, 2008 by thejessicat

FINALLY!!
Now that almost everything is over and done with, this marks that the Final Exams are coming our way. Sheesh.

The whole week has been a week of Live Radio Shows!
There were altogether 3 teams producing 6 live shows

Let’s take a peek at the other teams before coming to mine alrightey? =D

First up were –

Theme: Fitness

DJs

I participated in one of their games too =D

Theme: Back 2 School

DJs

The “kids”
=p =p =p

pics grabbed from FaceB
Then it was the second team’s turn –

Theme: Supernatural

Alamak. I’m haunted by them

The emcees and I

Theme: Hollywood

Paris & Nicole

Superman & James Bond

Pics grabbed from FaceB

Then.. *drumroll* it was our team’s turn – WOOT WOOT!

As mentioned – here, the 1st day was themed ‘Vegas Nite’ and the 2nd day was ‘Arabian Nites’. Check out the posters I did in that green link =D *wheee*

Premier jour : Vegas Nite

Pheewit! Most of my frens said that the props & decor were really nice!

the pyramid of cards I built!
&
our handmade life-sized die

Preps the night before
My life-sized cards for decor and labelling them for games
&
Sheryn drawing the camel for the Arabian Nites theme

more decor on the walls
Every Vegas theme must have the bar!

My black bar table and Carlsberg glasses
It helps that Dad was a pub manager! =D

Our crew was all dressed up too

Smart-lookin producer

Cat & myself
Get ready for a nite in Vegas!

Looks like the effort in aesthetic values paid off.
Their compliments made me smile lots~!

Anyway, that’s not AS important as how we performed though.

I guess we did just OKAY on the first day. It was our 1st time, so yeah.
The sounds were too pitchy, song volume wasn’t loud enough. After the post-mortem of the 1st day, we were expected to improve and perform better on the 2nd.

We organized a Drinking Competition too
on your marks, get set, GO!!

gosh.
Reminds me of that night in Momo when I fell ill. =/

Su Yang puking!
Jazz & her fren almost threw up as well

AND WE HAVE A WINNER!
enjoy your free movie Mike!

Next game session was Charades – a pretty common game.

But we made it a Vegas one as the actions are all
attached to the life-sized gamblin card

many thanks to Leo, the actor of the day!
oh and, the answer to this one is ‘Chicken Little’
He’s acting the ‘Chicken’ part of it first

Gavin deep in thoughts trying to guess the actions
or is he trying to look up someone’s sheer top?

Anyone guessed it yet?

The winner – Andrea Tee, collected the most point for the most accurate answers and yes, the prizes for today’s game was GSC tickets, DiGi reload cards, vouchers.

But in JAM.FM everyone’s a winner
so they ALL get goodie bags and a free drink at the bar!

PICTURE OF THE DAY

need I say more? =P
So adorably wrong

a la Las Vegas!
Toodles!

deuxième jour : Arabian Nites

As expected, the 2nd day was so much better than the 1st day even some people even said it was good! Boy, I hope Mr. Ken feels the same.

buddy Ivan & I camwhoring

Hey! How come I didn’t realize Aizad joined this picture?

DJ Cat & DJ Sher for their session

This time, Nads was my co-emcee
During the games session, we had ‘Pin the Tail on the Camel’, our Arabian Nites take on the common ‘Pin the Tail on the Donkey’

but…. WHERE’S THE TAIL???

well um.
I had some camel action last nite which explains what the tail is doing with me.
NOT.
ewwwww

eh. wrong way la dei.

But somehow, you made it!
YAY

Mabel feelin the poor camel’s arse

Uh-oh! All that camel action must’ve looked wrong didn’t it, Daniel?

whooops!

When it was our call again, Nads & I hosted another game – Magic Carpet Ride.
Our Arabian Nites version of the ‘Newspaper Game’

Hmm.. Carpet is getting smaller and smaller peeps!

TOO SMALL??

KABOOM!!
When the momentum of action brings you a forceful reaction!

JATUH TERPELANTING
=D

WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?
Now that BOTH our Live Radio Show’s are over,
all I can hope and pray is that Mr. Ken gives us good grades & marks for it!

Arabian princesses bidding you a goodbye!
eleh

Hmm.. our show marks the end of it.
GAMBATEH FOR EXAMS!!

RADIO airwaves

June 24, 2008 by thejessicat

Wheeeeeeee….
entering the week of doom; where all final presentations & assignments are due.

*jengjengjeng*

Tough luck! But the final hurdle’s not over yet!
I guess, before it’s too late and before I switch to -N E R D- mode a week before the exams, I just wanna holla that Radio Production is my favourite subject this semester!

Credits goes out to Mr. Ken – our Radio Production lecturer
He’s also part of the (fellow mass commers would know this) sarcastic madness!

I introduce you, Mr. Neoh Soon Ken
(Wendy, I think you have a similar picture of him)

And our dearest radio & sound techician – Mr. Heng

Who sat by us patiently and was always there for us if we needed
assistance during our recordings and practice sessions..

Cat & Nads squeezing Mr. Heng tight

I never get to say this enough but, from all of us in JAM.FM Version 9:
we love youuuuuu~!!!!

We have sssssso much fun in the studio and those times when we were under tremendous pressure were (if I have to say so myself) the bestest times of all, working together.

I know, the biggest one is yet to come (this Thursday & Friday) but still, all the times where we stayed back till 7pm in the recording studio & even begging Mr. Heng to give us some extension time were tough fun.

And all the times where bestie Joyce skipped Tuesday classes to join our Wednesday classes

Hurrah! The more the merrier

We shall move on to the VVIPS.
The peeps in my radio station – PWN.FM.

Ruebni!
She’s always been there for me in times in need but apart from that we always seem to have fun and joke around. This bubbly chick was also in the same drama as I was which was held last year. Sweet natured but have the ability to freak out if neccessary.

Rue dear & her humanpet Ivan
Love ya woman! =)

Now, who could have the supernatural ability to make my blood boil but is *sigh* STILL retardedly adorable all the same? My former colleague in G2000, neighbour (sort of) and one of my dearest classmates :

Check out my C-Box on the top right of my blog.
He spammed it. That’s right.
OH IVAN CHEAH JOOOOO SIANG

Which leaves us down to one more person in my radio station yet to be mentioned.
Raguuuuuu Dhanagopal (did I get thi

s right Ragu?) teehee.
He’s a great friend, and a good reliable person in our group. He is aVisual-Kei absorbed and a die-hard liverpool fan.

What’s your secret Ragu?

Care to turn the paper around to show us?

*

*

*

Umm… wow.

Nope, I was only kidding.
Ragu the versatile –

With him around, dare you enter KDU’s school of communication?
YOU BETTER!

oh lookie! Another ghoul in the house!
Did Halloween come early this year?

Ghost of Christmas Past – Nadia!
woooooooooooooooooo

Poor Sheryn!

CORNERED!
OWNED!

Apart from the ‘Fantastic Four’ in PWN.FM, there are also other fab peeps who make Radio Production classes double triple quadruple the fun!

The ‘Wednesday’ JEANS peeps

And more ‘Wednesday’ peeps

Now what about the ‘Tuesday’ peeps? Well, we haven’t taken our whole JAM.FM V9’s family photo yet. So I guess, this will have to suffice first! =D

Karyn! Look!
LOOOOOOK
=)

In the end….

After all the madness & laughter,
The massive bomb we will achieve,
So let’s say a lil silent prayer,
Our best & efforts is what we believe!

Yes, gogogo JAM.FM V9!

Do come and give us support if you may =)
Pretty Please?

It’s THIS Thursday & Friday at 1pm
in KDU College Cafeteria

THURSDAY THEME – VEGAS NIGHT

FRIDAY THEME – ARABIAN NIGHTS

and 3… 2… 1…
WE’RE ON A TAKE!

Take the Lead!

June 19, 2008 by thejessicat

Think you’ve got guts to be a leadership & team-building facilitator?

=)

No harm trying!

Well, we got shortlisted and decided to give it a try! But hey, we ourselves had to go through trainings and briefings first before going out in public and experience it for real. =D (in case we screw up lah)

The best part was making so many new friends and having a ball of fun… all co-currently while learning as we go along too!

But prior to that, there was the ice-breaking – essential to every function! Actually, all of us got along pretty well even before the session when we were waiting and such. It’s usually the case, cos all of us are here for the exact same purpose so we should share certain things in common, no? ^_^

Games were then lined up for us to test our teamwork & leadership skills and how we handle certain situations.

It certainly isn’t as easy at it looks!

Haha, in the beginning I heard people going,

“huh? Think we all kids ar.. so easy wan”

But in the end,
everyone was so worked-up and lovin’ it!

So I guess, sometimes we can’t just jump into conclusions by the mere mention of something we have not experienced before aye? =)

A de-briefing session was done respectively after each game and I especially liked how Andy Tai (our facilitator) was so diplomatic & influential when doing so. *salute!*

Mistakes were made along the way =)

Only after the break, the whole lot of us were already talking like we’re buddies. It’s just amazing how people get to know each other and have agazillion things to talk about!

One in particular that I wanna mention is – Yik Chun. He’s an awesome person and possess very impressive leadership skills – at least, that’s what i felt.
And yeah, very down-to-earth and funny!

That’s him during his turn as group leader.
The surprising thing was, he was Sweetheart’s
former classmate back in HighSchool!!
Wow. What a coincidence.

And after all the laughter, sweat and utter madness we endured, here comes the finale – GROUP PRESENTATION.
Gosh, and it was my turn to be the group leader this time.

We were assigned to work in our teams, give it a name, draw its logo, plan the values that we have and create team SONG *drumroll* AND SING IT in front of everyone! *argh*

A time-frame must be strictly adhered to to reflect our time-management skills. And after the time was up… let it roll!!

This was William’s group
I think they came up with something to do with Hakuna Matata

ohno.. look at Andy Tai in evaluation-mode!
SCARYY

And then it was OUR TURN *jengjengjeng*

Thank You Mr. Mark for the public speaking &
presentation skills you’ve taught!

I guess I conquered my fears already (I hope)

For the song part, we remixed our own version of
Rihanna – Umbrella!

The lyrics, the genre and everything was recreated,
and we even had our dear Josh as the beatboxer to pump up some bass!

We were glad the rest sang along and enjoyed it! *w00t w00t* Oh, and for a closer look at what we’ve managed to do in the time constraint, here it is –

Now, who’s that superman?

*

IT’S……………..

ANDY TAI THE HANDSOME!
wakakakakkaka

The amused Andy Tai…. the handsome.

KUDOS TEAM MATES!
for a job well-done
Was great working with all of you – Joshua, Hazel, Ian & Wen!
You guys were fantastic, innovative & cooperative team members!

Culture SHYIOK!

June 15, 2008 by thejessicat

If Photo Communication classes this semester weren’t interesting enough with all the field trips I’ve mentioned here and here, we had MORE field trips! (ohh how I love my course)

It’s a good exposure, for I doubt I’ll deliberately visit these places for the mere sake of it. Nuh-uh. Nadda. So yeah, thanks Mr. Aaron Goh for bringing us around the streets of Penang and the other places!

This time around, we went to…

WELCOME ALL TAMBEE’s & TANGACHI’s for the day!

Since today was about photojournalism, I took the chance to interview as many people as possible. Boy, it was rather insightful to hear people from all walks of life speak and share their point of view!

Among the peeps I interviewed were:

The Coconut Man

The Silk Fabric Shop Owner
(who seems rather blur at the moment)

and a few others.

The streets of Lil India had much to explore. Many a thing of which I have not ever set my eyes on before nor have I heard of such. I was enlightened by the Indian culture!

Entering shops to check em out

whooops! Joycie, ya checking out the poster lady?

A Chinese scrap-material collector

Panjang & Pendek

An artsy ‘fountain of youth’

Even the ‘cool’ ones hang out here
=P

There were foreigners from overseas just as fascinated by the glorious Lil India

They were also capturing lotsa photographs!

Look! A stand-up poster of Father Jesus! =D

And of cours

e, the glory of Indian Food at its best. There were plenty of Indian delicacies, almost at every corner! This time, it was pure Indian food.. not the fusion of Mamak fook.

Such ‘magic gourds’ are hung at each shop to ward off
evil spirits

Mr. Aaron & bestie Joyce were also snapping pictures of the delicacies served at Lil India

LOL.
The guy would probably be thinking –
“Are they starved immigrants from Bosnia who
haven’t seen what food looks like ever before??”

In the whole of Lil India, these were the only two awnings that had rainbow colours in them. Who can justify this? =)

Oh but wait, certain things need no substantiation.

A Chinese temple on the streets of Lil India.

There were some violence involved.
*shut your eyes little children*

(click to enlarge. the expressions and words are NICER)
LOL

Aside from all the fun, it was scorching hot and this added much outrage and annoyance to my bestie Joyce. =) Well, to make things worse,

WE WERE LOST.
lost.

LOST.
lost.

LOSTLOSTLOST

Yes, lost in the hustle and bustle of Little India. The routes and pathways seem to repeat itself and we kept going around in circles! We were desperately directionless during the extreme weather but oh well, upon seeing this magnificent Pakistani mosque –

we knew we were on the right track to where I parked my car.

FINALLY!
It’s a one-way ticket to HomeSweetHome!

When the going gets tough…

June 11, 2008 by thejessicat

that we’re moving closer and closer to the finals, bits & pieces of my hurdles are over!

1. The recorded radio show
2. Copywriting poster & booklet
3. Organizational Communication presentation assignment.

Numéro Un: Recorded Radio Show

Good thing we booked the studio early! We could at least practise for a few rounds to polish up our technical skills and fluency.

YAY for my interviewee! Lasker was the first interviewee to arrive and we had plenty of time to conduct the final round of pre-interview and discussions. =D f.y.i, I introduced him as the ‘founder of the first ever live chatroom of its kind’ right on air! Banggabangga lah Lasker nih. =P

Ivan’s interviewee came 2nd – A Pantai Jerejak assemblyman of PKR
Ragu’s interviewee was 3rd – KDU Football Coach (cute British accent!)
Rue’s interviewee was the final one to arrive – A Fitness First gym instructor

When the it was time for hour radio show, we hit off right on time:

Please be silent & wait for the cue!

*
and 3..2..1…
we’re on a take!

Dear Rue busy with her scripts

Thats moi DJ-ing

That’s moi interviewing my SPECIAL GUEST

Thanks Ragu for being my producer!
(look at Ivan in the distance : kamcheng-ing with the politician)

Camwhoring with buddy Ivan before his DJ session
oh no. He looks a bit like Steven Lim here. Yikes!
Don’t know who Steven Lim is?
Go google him up to see his blog or known as ‘official fan website’
That SICKO =)

Hurrah! I’m glad our recorded radio show went swell. Thankfully, I didn’t screw up as as I thought I would. But merciless Mr. Ken MIGHT find every way possible to cut marks. *gulp*

Cheers to us!
And to many more future cooperation!
OWNED!

Numero Deux: Child Sexual Abuse ads& copywriting

Copywriting went great too! High-five to Sheryn for being such a cooperative partner. It’s my first time working with her and we do actually work very well together. =D

Taking them for printing.. costing us a bomb. Ugh.

Freshly printed from the oven.
>_<

And in the print shop however, there was a baby in sight.
But, look who‘s playing with him/her?

It’s Sheryn!! LOL

After our extra efforts of cutting the god-forsaken pages into a shape that is cuter & way out of the typical, we’re finally done. BUT..

Having a perfectionist mother, she INSISTED that the sides that we cut up weren’t equal enough. -_- It’s a pain, right Sher?
hahaaha. Anyway, thanks mum!

Thanks hun, for all your support and opinions! *mwah*

These are what I’ve designed:

My retarded look to express relief.
If you’re an avid reader, I’m sure you’ve seen this face last semester

I know the presentations aren’t over yet, but I’m glad to say that we’ve already gotten everything printed out already.. and it turned out just the way I wanted it to be!
So proud of us! *high5*

Numero Trois: Strategic Organizational Communication presentation

And today, the first part of the Organizational Communication presentation assignments are over. It was my first time partnering with Eunice & Shafiq. Hmm..

Anyway guys, thanks for whatever effort & help you guys have contributed. Most of all, thanks for your cooperation. I’m sorry if i was prolly too harsh or assertive in getting it perfect. Thanks again!

Here is one slide of my presentation.
Initially, I wanted to make a joke about Mr.Mark but he seemed grumpy the whole morning so… *gasp* I’d better not say anything to step on his tail.

Overall, I’m glad he was pleased with it… from the SWOT Analysis to the Goals, Strategy & Tactics. His criticsms were : I didn’t place the stronger tactics together in my slide.

Yeah, that I admit.

It’s because I wanted the attention to be balanced. He said I shouldn’t do that because it would lessen the impact.

Okaythanks boss.
^_^

Oh and, I took a picture of Daniel presenting =)

And btw, our Live Radio Show is on the 19th & 20th of June. It’s on a Thursday & Friday at 1-2pm in our campus, KDU.

Do give us your support!
