The Sunday Times XXVII: Sights, sounds, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

June 9, 2013 by thejessicat

If my car were to be a real human being, he'd probably be considered one of the luckiest men on earth.

It's because I pamper him way tooooooooo much. kiss

I know I've never blogged about my new car. Don't ask why – just never got round to it, I guess.

Betul2 tak tahu kenape. Jadi biarlah i bergambar skejap ngan kete aku okei?

With my sexy red ride, the Ford Fiesta Sports Hatchback.

During the weekends, I've brought him in for a full car window tinting appointment at CG Tint Specialist.

The boss personally attended to me. She was amazing, patient and took the time to explain how different films actually work. Thanks Sheryl! heart

After 2.5 hours, my car windows are finally done! laugh

Out of the many (think: gazillions!) tinting film choices that CG Tint Specialist had in store, we discussed and narrowed down the choices before making a decision on what suits my car best, according to my daily usage. yes

Factors like where I usually park (indoors or outdoors), what time I usually leave for work and return from work (sunlight and glare), which area I live (safety) were also taken into consideration, amongst many others.

In the end, I chose the 58% dark tint with solar anti-UV, 65% anti-infra-red (heat) cool tech and with our alarming crime rate at hand, we decided to include the anti-theft (anti-smash) security film installed.cool

Proud and happy momma. wink Thanks CG Tint Specialist!

Now I feel so much safer, cooler and more comfy with less sun glare in my own car.

The very next day, I decided to pamper my boy again.

I brought him to a car spa at CARs International.

Shine bright like a diamond! My baby all sparkling and shiny heart

We gave him a bubble-bath wash, a waxing treatment and had polishing work done on his outer body and a thorough vacuum and nano mist treatment for the inside. When I posted that photo on Facebook, someone suggested that I change his shoes too. wink Thanks for the bright idea!

Why didn't I think of that? Sport rims for your wheels next, baby! heart

Since mommy loves her shoes, you should have show-stopping shoes too!

Which do you like best? wink

Anyway, ever since I got my car in January, I've always planned to modify the interior to red.

The results will look something like this:

My steering wheel and dashboard will look like this

And the seats will look like this

Okay, enough car talk. I've always been the car enthusiast but I wouldn't wanna bore you just yet laugh

So let's see. Here's what I've been up to this week:

Friday outfit of the night.

Attended the Wicked Nights club series by Wicked Entertainment in Club Neverland.

This time round, they brought German trancemeister duos, Cosmic Gate.

You can read the blog feature I've written: here

In stark contrast, here's a photo of me in my pyjamas. blush

Janganlah ketawa aku, boleh? Malaslah nak tukar kpd baju yang lain.

Allow me to explain. It was 2.30am, I was sleepy and hence couldn't be arsed to go

through the effort of putting something else on. cheeky I hope that clarifies hahaha!

Just a casual afternoon outfit of the day

The tee I'm wearing was a gift from mom. A subtle reminderof my little island, Penang,

and one of her many ways of telling me that I'm always beautiful in her eyes. heart

Charity work at Spastic Children's Association of Selangor & Federal Territory.

Your contribution is their hope! You can make your kind donations on their official website at: scasft.org

What else? Gym.

So several months have passed since I've begun my vigorous training.

To be honest, I don't find it hardcore at all when most people do. Maybe it's because I've been a gym rat since the year 2007. Once you do something long enough, it just falls into a routine and a habit that you are too familiar with.

Few months in. Progress shot.

Gained 6kg of lean muscle and fat percentage dropped by 30%

As a result, I was pretty upset when my weight had increased, due to societal norms and mass media influence of "losing weight" and "being skinny".

However, I keep reminding myself not to be bummed because muscle weighs heavier than fat.

But unavoidably, I was depressed on the very night I checked and measured my progress until I ranted to my fellow gym buff.

He told me not to worry about the number on the scale and to keep up the good job.

smiley Thank you, you know who you are!heart

And as usual, awesome post-workout meals! I think I spend most of my time in the kitchen now.

Aku rasa aku skarang macam tinggal kat dapur aku, tahu. Memang gemar memasak sejak baru2 ini.

Italian wholewheat durum spaghetti with chopped button mushrooms, brocolli, carrots,

honey-baked aubergines all tossed with freshly blended tomato puree and thyme.

Organic wholewheat cavatappi with scrambled eggs, tuna and tomatoes

topped with basil and ground black pepper.

I think I made a lot more food  this week but can't seem to find them.

Perhaps I gobbled them all – including the photos! cheeky

We had a potluck steamboat party during lunch hour at work too.

It was like a buffet, and so yum! Here's a photo from my bowl.

With one of my colleagues, Wendy.

The whole team went to The Curve for lunch the next day and grabbed coffee too!

Was pleasantly surprised by a wonderful delivery of booze and party gear:

glowsticks, a silicon LED Nixon watch and an adorable beer bottle pendrive!

Thanks Carlsberg Malaysia!

More about this in a blog feature.*hint* Where's the Party? wink

This week also got me riling as I have been phoneless for several days now.

In this day and age, and my being the social media addict, I felt restless as there was absolutely nothing in my hands to fidget with! If you're wondering, I've sent my iPhone 4S for a one-on-one exhange to Maxis and Apple.

It's a good thing they don't repair, but instead REPLACE your faulty one with a new one laugh

Went to Berjaya Times Square in the city on Saturday and all I bought

was this snapback cap by popular street wear gear brand, OBEY.

Okay, I lied. I bought a new iPhone case for my new iPhone that will be arriving soonest by Friday!

Nice? And I also bought a new screen protector and matt red iPhone body sticker.laugh

Almost bought this but theboyf stopped me.

He says I didn't need any more mirrors nor Hello Kitty stuff. I had to agree cheeky

Random candids of my cat, Chivas.

Theboyf loves taking photos of him – all the time!

Escaped work during lunch hour to grab a cuppa at Artisan Roast, TTDI

I can never resist their cheesecake.

Satisfied our late night lok-lok cravings in the city cheeky

On Sunday night, I checked out a new place for dinner.

Milk and Butter, Bangsar

★★★★★

The food was superb! We had the Wild Mushroom soup, Cottage Pie (Shepard's Pie), Ultimate Scrambled Egg, Turkey Ham and Chicken Ham Crunchy Pizza and a cuppa latte each. laugh

The waiters were so jovial and courteous. I loved the whole ambience of the restaurant too.

More about my experience at Milk and Butter in my next blog feature!

Random selfie. Double trouble on a rainy day.

That's all for this week. Have a good seven days ahead and look forward to the weekend again! wink

Much love,

kissJessicat

The Sunday Times XII: Sights, sounds, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

December 9, 2012 by thejessicat

Good evening folks!

This week’s The Sunday Times had been delayed as I’ve been out of the country for that famed beach rave & turned into a hungover zombie over the weekend.

But yes, I’m back in Malaysia already and my past seven days have been a whirlwind!

The start of my week gave me a very invigorating experience. I’m honoured to be one of the select few to dine with a brand-new concept to hit Malaysia’s food & beverage scene.

I was invited to try the ‘Dining in the Dark KL’ by Werner’s on Changkat

*blogpost HERE!*

Spent some time in Pavilion KL and checked out Burberry’s latest Autumn/Winter collection.

Had been eyeing something in particular the moment I spotted it on London Fashion Week.

Wanna see? :D

It’s now here in Malaysia! The Burberry Prorsum Alma Gold Fox Clutch!

Had dinner with Konzy, Pam & Rama thereafter at Komugi Cafe in Tokyo Street @ Pavilion KL

I recommend the Pumpkin Soup served in a bread bowl & the baked marble cheesecake!

Indulged in some Jap cuisine at Shogun Japanese Buffet @ 1 Utama for lunch the next day

Made time for my workout routines at the gym.

Don’t have time for gym? MAKE BLOODY TIME!

Monday madness!

Wacky Wednesdays!

You’re running on guts. On fumes. Your muscles twitch. You throw up. You’re delirious.

But you keep running because there’s no way you’re not crossing the finish line.

It’s a misery that non-runners don’t understand.

– Martine Corstello

Can’t wait for the run at the end of the week!

Had some extra time on my hands and thought I deserve some pampering.

Gave myself a pretty manicure with my new nail lacquer from OPI!

A deep shade of red, aptly named Bastille My Heart.

Oh don’t remind me -_-“

Had a good breakfast the very next day…

Honey Oats with Roasted Almonds & a dollop of Peanut Butter!

And off I went to Singapore for an extended weekend of my annual pilgrimage… ZoukOut 2012!

So much to say, show & share the footages in my next blogpost, but first here are two photos that somewhat summarizes both my days at ZoukOut!

ZoukOut 2012 Day 1

ZoukOut 2012 Day 2!

Surprisingly, I was supremely kind to my wallet (and bank account!) this time round!

I used to incur exorbitant expenses each time I’m in Singapore all because of the shopping at twice the amount of money; no thanks to exchange rates! :/

For this trip, guess how much I spent in Singapore, in total?

Only RM250 for four days! Amazeballs, if I do say so myself

The bulk of my expenses all went to commuting via public transportation and of course, good food.

If it’s something I’ve learnt throughout the years, it’s to never to be stingy on food.

Nothing more satisfying than a good meal of something you really enjoy eating!

Here are some of the food I ate whilst in Singapore:

Teppanyaki Chicken McGrill from McDonalds!

Before you snort at my eating McD of all things in another country, it’s because we don’t have that in Malaysia!

Neither do we have pork bacon in our McBreakfasts, for obvious reasons.

Ergo, I literally PIGGED OUT when I dined in Singapore!

The next meal I had was:

The popular Bak Chor Mee (Minced Pork Noodles with Pork Balls) from Bedok 85!

Fried Oysters with Eggs | A combo of both Black and White Carrot Cakes! (aka turnip cakes)

I was quite exasperated that night. Hear me out?

The stall owner refused to speak in English with me when I placed my order in English.

I tried communicating with her in English; only to be responded in Mandarin, again & again.

Fine. Assuming she couldn’t speak a word of English, I mustered all the little Mandarin I knew and spoke to her quite terribly, after much struggle.

The next thing I know, when my Caucasian boyfriend placed his order with her, she smugly spoke in (simple yet fluent!) English to him.

Got trolled. JESUS CHRIST, WOMAN! You made me go through all that hassle for nothing LOL!

The next day, my lovely host & buddy June took us out to Octapas Spanish Tapas Bar @ Clarke Quay

As if the waterfront view isn’t fabulous enough, here are some photos of our scrumptious feast!

I had some personal favorites!

Allow me to list my recommendations ;)

Among those which topped my list were: Bacon-wrapped Prawns with Tomato Salsa, Grilled Squid with Balsamic Vinegar Reduction, Leg of Lamb Stew with Courgettes & Aubergines, Beef Tenderloin Cubes sauteed with Olive Oil & Garlic and finally, the Pan-fried Cod with Poached Onion

I had my first Vegan Burger at ZoukOut 2012 from Vegan Burg.

The patties were made of soy with plum sauce. Tasted rather odd and bland to me :/

Perhaps I just wasn’t used to it. After all, it is a far cry from the usual meat & cheeseburgers!

Sorry environmentalists, looks like I’ll always love my meat

The next night, we had Vietnamese baguettes from Bag★ette : The Viet Inspired Deli at Vivo City.

Chicken for me, and pork for him.

The baked cheesecake that came with the set was very light, smooth and soft to the touch.

The type that melts in your mouth! Would someone deliver it all the way to Malaysia? ;(

***

Apart from my extreme dosage of bottles and bottles of Meiji low-fat milk…

…which I never fail to pick up whenever there was a 7-11 in my immediate vicinity, I had my favorite Weissbrau mango beer with some friends, at Brotzeit German Bier Bar & Restaurant @ Raffles City.

Drink up! :D

The final day in Singapore saw us having a goodbye lunch with June dearest

I had Claypot Glass Noodles with Soft Shell Crab in Thai Express @ Vivo City

Well recommended! I loved this to bits

Farewell Singapore!

Although I love your little country, I’ll always be glad to cross over the causeway back to Malaysia where I regain unlimited 3G data on my iPhone and where we can smoke (for smokers!) or chew gum anywhere we please without so much as a fine 😛

Dropped by Chilis Bar & Grill for some pub grub.

Cajun Club Sandwich for him & Southwestern Eggrolls for me

Needless to say, I had a splendid week! Hope yours was just as fun-filled as mine

Have a perfect seven days ahead of you! Seize every day like it’s your last

Much love,

Jessicat

My 21st birthday “rockstar” bash in Twenty One Bar, Bangsar!

July 11, 2010 by thejessicat

Ahh!

Finally had the time to sit down and blog about my birthday in Twenty-One, Bangsar!

Just like last year, I usually have a few birthday celebrations as friends come in different groups… and different geographical locations. It'll be tough to maul them altogether. This year, I celebrated a few birthdays too – with a group of fellow netizens in KL and Singapore, my wonderful Fockers in Ipoh and most certainly my insane homies back in Penang.

Mom's e-card 😀

But first! On the morning of my birthday, (slept at 5am the night before replying Facebook & Twitter birthday wishes, calls & sms-es BIG THANKEW YA!)  the doorbell rang and I lumbered outta bed to open it. Before me, stood a man with a bouquet of flowers!

Loved them so much! It certainly made my morning a cheerier one 😀

Thanks to one of my good friends June

Yes gurl, I will enjoy myself tonight! 😀 You can be sure about that hehe

Let's begin! Shall we? 😀

Dolled up and left for Twenty-One bar to celebrate my 21st burpday 😀

Studded brown clutch by Soak Republic

Two of the earliest birds! 😀 Eve and Greg

More of my guests started to roll in one by one….

Cathy and Yat 😀

With Ren! 😀

before I knew it more familiar faces appeared! So glad you guys could make it 😉

With such a short notice of TWO DAYS!

My lovely guests lookin' fab that night too!

Classmates, food review mates, blogmates and lots more

Chillin by the water feature

I feel like keeeeeeeeeling them! Eric BBM-ed me saying something came up and they won't be coming at all

Was so sad for being FFK-ed (ditched) last minute, how could they do this to me on my birthday?

mean

mean

mean

AND THEY SUDDENLY APPEARED RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES

T____________T I didn't know whether to laugh or to cry!

When I screamed, they said

"LIDDAT ONLY SURPRISE YOU MA!!"

awwwwwww. Gawd, much love 😀

While I was busy making sure everyone had a drink in their hands

Was nice to see everyone mingling about already!

We chatted, took pictures and caught up with each other

The drink of the night was Johnnie Walker Black Label 😀

Cheers Ren and Jeff! 😀 😀 Bottoms up yo!

But all hell broke loose when Eric bought me a glass of Graveyard

It's a killer and it tastes awfully vile! Aaacckk

Brass Iconography ring by Soak Republic

What a bitter Graveyard birthday present! *sniff I managed to down it ALL.

Whee! Thanks dearie

BUT. THAT'S. NOT. ALL

Eric and Jac also surprised me again with something else!

A Flaming Lamborghini

OH NO!!!!!!

I dragged the other Eric to join me in this murder!

Sharing is caring, no? 😉 😉 heee!

But he left me midway to fend for myself! aaaauughhh!

haha. But it was all gulped down in the end! Thanks guys

Random peekture of my guests during the parteh 😀

After numerous shots, bottoms up challenges, a Graveyard and a Flaming Lambo,

it was safe to say that I was starting to get a lil woozy~

With my fave Shouters! Daniel, Yen, Aaron, Eve & Satkuru 😀

I loved the Liquor Roulette set btw! More drinking ey? Muahaha

it was not long before the bottle of Black Label went dry. So I opened another bottle!

I don't exactly recall, but I was pretty certain the waitor gave me the bill to sign but no pen to sign it with!

More random party peektures 😀

With ma gurls Shantee and Esther 😀

Jac, Eric, Yat and I 😀

Ying Zi, Jeff, See Pin, Chris, Cathy and Ren

Late but always worth the wait, my diva Joe finally arrived!

He came and gave me a big fat hug and……

A UKELELE WITH GOLD BIRTHDAY WISHES ON IT!

One step closer to becoming a rockstaaaar babeh!!

m/ Joe whatchu laughing at you? 😛

Sometime after the stroke of midnight, my biological birthdate was officially over. But no, not the party 😀

It was time for the birthday cake!

Yummmm!! Dark White Chocolate Cheese cake, from Secret Recipe

My absolute fave 😀 10 STARS!

As there were lotsa smokers in da house, it didn't take long for the candles to be lighted up 🙂

Apparently, I didn't allow anyone to snatch the Ukelele away from me! 😀

Very woozy but I KNEW at this point someone made a toast to me

I heard my name and the clinking of glasses! Love you guys

Group photo yo!

With everyone sans a few who already headed home + extreme latecomers

Doesn't matter what time you come or leave, most importantly you're HERE to share a big bite of my birthday:

😀 😀

Speaking of extreme latecomers, Nigel, Mike and Jess (not me, the other Jess) came

after the cake cutting session 😀

Continued partying with everyone 😀

Let's all cut us some slack and let loose, today's a parteh time! 😀

xoxo 😀 The LAST ones to leave!

As it was a Thursday night, most of my guests were working adults which had to leave by 1am plus. Due to work the very next morning. AHHH!! 😛 😛 😛 😛 THE PERKS OF BEING A TWENTY-ONE YEAR OLD!!! *rubs it in* Muahahahah. That's for repetitively saying this to my face –

TWENTY-ONE ONLY AHHH??

SO YOUNNGGGGGG ONE!!

😛

YESSS WORRR!!!

TWENTY-ONE ONLY… HOW!!!!!?

heck, age is just a number *winks*

then again, what haven't we done by twenty one? 😛 😛

TWENTY-ONE, VIBRANT AND LOVING EVERY MOMENT OF IT!

You only turn 21 ONCE so make the best of it!

Tonight was certainly a night to remember. Thanks to each and everyone of my rockstar guests for the presents

and who made the party all the more merrier and especially sharing my big day with me

even IF you didn't get me a present due to extreme short notice, your presence was the present already!

But those who did, thanks for going the extra mile to make me smile  🙂

I don't remember this picture being taken but I reckon I was thanking all my guests on Twitter!

heck, forgive the dreadful grammatical errors I saw the very next morning >___<

Guess alcohol can really fudge up your braincells

Thank you Satkuru, Aaron and Eric for helping me take peektures of my party!

While I crashed at the backseat of the car, the boys were having their own bit of fun 😛

Thanks to Ying Zi, Chris and Anis who walked me back to my crib and ensured I was fine before they left.

Woke up the next morning with a beautiful sight –

Birthday presents from last night!

I guess these were the only memories (besides photos) that I have!

As expected, this was YET ANOTHER BIRTHDAY I DON'T REMEMBER! *sobs*

I gotta stop piling on the alco yo!

Highlight of the morning = A LEOPARD PRINT G-STRING

when I ripped open one birthday present

*faints* 😛 😛
