The ultimate Zouk Out 2010 post! Tiesto, David Guetta n’ DJ Afrojack LIVE @ Siloso Beach Sentosa Island, Singapore

January 21, 2011 by thejessicat

Ya know why I titled it as the ULTIMATE Zouk Out 2010 post?

Because it encapsulates my entire foray in the ZoukOut rave beach party experience! It's also photo heavy, embedded with 8 videos, packed with info, tips and everything I have to say!

A continuation to this teaser post last month! 🙂

We left from home in the West pretty early, all the way to the South, which was where Sentosa Island sat across from.

We took the bus to Vivo City and the Sentosa Express to cross to the island

If you're planning to get the at-the-door ticket sales, kiasu people actually start lining up at 4pm. So, you know the drill.

Don't wait till the last minute. Tip: Get.your.advanced.tickets.for.the.love.of.gawd.

I was so excited upon getting inside!

Bright lights and booming music surrounded me as early as 9pm

I know it's strange to wear so many layers (I had a bikini, a mesh off-shoulder top and a basketball jersey on) to a friggin' beach party, where less is best. But hey, we traveled by public transport to get here!

It's gonna be SO INAPPROPRIATE if i were to stroll along the streets in the afternoon with nothing but my bikini -__-

We were all given a ZoukOut 2010 landyard and a tag to wear

(which comes with a free map & guide inside!)

It soon got kinda warm running around taking pichas so I took off my jersey.

Met up with George and Alex at the entrance!

We were camwhoring with the ZoukOut 2010 car – resplendent in glossy red

Then this random chick came forward and passed us this signage which we just received and camwhored along with.

Little did we know that it said I Subaru… which I don't.

Saw another photo op! 😀

I like how it's naturally lit, with that peek of sand and just one tiny spotlight

Another photo op Too bad I hadn't bought my Wayfarers yet !

Sunglasses, what else? A life-sized pair of Havaianas flip-flops?

You bet it *could* squish his guts out 😛 😛

Carrying it ala the way I used to do with my schoolbag in Primary school 😀

After all that hype in scouring for cute photo ops. We finally sat down and waited for the rest to arrive.

FYI the mobile transmission for data and cellular signals were notoriously failing us – making it so difficult for anyone to contact anyone! My roaming charges totalled up to RM400++ FML

Invest in some walkie-talkies, if you have the extra bucks

Sitting down for a bit with George and Alex (taking the picture)

while theboyfie went outside bring YingZi in

While waiting, bumped into the lovely couple I know, Michelle and Nic! ;)

Incomplete party! 4 more were still on their way (late *cough* comers *cough cough*)

And yes, I jumped on the bandwagon and finally took off my mesh top.

Was very shy to remove it but then all the girls (fat and thin) right left front and center were clad in their bikinis too

My point coincidentally illustrated in the above picture 😛

Allow me to digress. I have always been a self-conscious freak about how much I weigh or how fat I look no matter how much weight I've lost or gained. Looks like I am my biggest critic. It all began 2 years ago when I moved to KL and gradually found myself tipping the weighing scale by 10KG.

Yes I gained 10KG in a few months. Back in Penang, I gym every single day and ate very little. But in my 1st year in KL, I didn't sign up for any gym and ate so much everyday so you know what happened. You get the picture.

And now, I'm trying hard to (desperately) shed off that 10KG back to that svelte figure I used to have 🙁 Already 3 months into the healthy diet and training excessively in gym routines everyday. Just to share if you actually wanna know, I've lost 6KG to date. Another 4 more!

So just a disclaimer, I know am still a work in progress. Any comments about this issue will be deleted. 🙁 Wait laaa, give me time till I achieve my goal okay?

Okay self-conscious moment over. Back to ZoukOut!

Found a lopsided door frame to camwhore with!

Beer that costed SGD8 if I'm not mistaken! $$$$$$$

Oh and.. show you my new Facebook profile picture!!

I think we both look nice and cuddly here teeheehee

Brass key and ring chain by Soak Republic

Chilled out for a bit and took in the whole buzzing atmosphere.

Decided to grab a bite first as my last meal was Subway at 5pm! (I have the 4 hour metabolic cycle of eating as part of my diet btw)

What to eat? Kebab? 😀 i've always been amused by how it's made

What if the fella forgot to turn it? Then one side will be raw and the other will be burnt?

Was so happy when I saw my ALL-TIME FAVORITE, OLD CHANG KEE!

Their Chicken curry puff is absolute win I tell you. Don't walk past the shop without popping one in your mouth at the very least!

However, it tastes better in Malaysia. No idea why. Never knew the taste of the same thing were dictated by nations LOL

OMNOMNOMNOMNOM

(check out George's well-sculptured and toned bod!)

Before we knew it, it was time for DJ Afrojack at 11PM already!

He's one of the popular DJs flown down to ZoukOut… from Netherlands

Great beats!

Math lesson from DJ Afrojack yo 😛

The night has JUST begun!

Crazy-ass laser lighting filled up the zone

DJ of world ranking #4 in the haus!

Was so insane that after an hour plus, we decided to exit from the jostling crowd to take a break.

Conserve energy for more madness during Tiesto and David Guetta's set!

Took a rest near the blue octopus thingy to wait for my gurls Kelly and Jessyca

They arrived! Oh and, you know why I called it the blue octopus thingy?

Cos it was glowing with blue lights and had many many many tentacles! (or heads?)

It could well pass off as Medusa too

Camwhoring with more friends!

Walked over to the Canon photowall and found out that it was Canon's 10th anniversary

Lotsa instant photos were taken of everyone and distributed for free. Now that's what I call generosity!

I spotted a girl with a similar bikini. She quickly came up the podium to take pictures together!

Suddenly, another dude decked in similar wear ran up the podium to take pics with us too!

SALUTE! Funny how NONE of us were American though 😛

At 2.30AM, theboyfie and I headed outside to bring buddy Venessa and Cheez inside.

And guess who I bumped into?

The sexxy Jessbabe and her friend Chad 🙂

Anyway, after gathering everyone together, the party is now complete.

We were so afraid to miss Tiesto at 3am… hurry!

But when we got there, it was a goddamn riot. It was rowdy, rough and DANGEROUS, for the lack of a better word 🙁 Each of us were pushed and shoved!

When it got too extreme, this tall white dude couldn't take it anymore and overturned his tray of drinks on top of everyone's heads! So there. We were fed-up, sweaty and soaked in beer.

The party had begun from here until even two opposite ends of the beach

What can I say? it was Tiesto after all.

He's a legend and what I'd give to see him pumping up a party live before my very eyes, is probably what the millions of revelers here would give too. Once we finally made it into the crowd, we ended up stuck behind a rock.

I DIDN'T COME ALL THE WAY TO SEE TIESTO BEHIND A MASSIVE 13 FEET-HIGH ROCK.

So grumpy me scooted all the way to the front jostling through sweaty people to catch him tearing up the night

Seeing Tiesto, my idol in the flesh, made me not so grumpy anymore! *swoons*

Here are a few must-watch Tiesto live footages I shot! Especially if you are a fan of trance/house and rave parties.

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ofpQdtIuK0

Adagio For Strings!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Z3D-upl5Nw

My all-time favorite, Traffic!

After my mood was restored, I was finally back on party-mode!

No one can bring me down with Tiesto's music booming anywhere within earshot, much less TIESTO HIMSELF spinning it!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H4Lgq9lKi4s

Ignore the 1st half of this video, the 2nd half just blew our minds away. 0.33 onwards!

I kinda like that picture on the bottom left. Must be my lucky angle!

It made me look thinner with a tiny waist! I don't have such a small frame in other pics (nor IRL) unfortunately

Another one of my top picks of Tiesto's tracks. The visuals were great too! Take a look –

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MN9OlKUAQY

Escape Me!

Confetti then burst into the sky all of a sudden! I was so excited; whipped out my camera and started clicking away

And someone had to get in the way of my picture -_-

Someone's stubby fingers to be exact.

Speaking of sudden bursts of fun to please the crowd even more, check out this huge bubble bobbing around the crowd!

Everyone tried to catch it, but I was told it just slips right outta your hand

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bsX5l1Ipks

It moved too fast and I didn't get to touch it. Bummer!

Oh and did I mention we were surrounded by gays where we stood?

There was a whole brood of them and I never noticed that it was a gay zone until it became fairly obvious. Oh well, the more the merrier!

Such nice and hyper people too! Unfortunately, one of them dropped his iPhone and lost it in the crowd. Poor thing!

What pissed me off is that the other gay went, "IPHONE 3GS OR IPHONE 4?" -________- When the poor guy was crawling all over the floor to search for his precious gadget. Like it matters at that moment of crisis ffs.

ANYWAY

When the clock struck 5AM (goodness gracious I can't believe I've been at the beach for almost 12 hours), Tiesto welcomed none other than David Guetta onstage! 😀 😀 😀

The World is Mine!!!!!

Guetta's one heck of a party starter. Lotsa trance + RnB fans went psycho during his 2 hour set.

So did we 😀

Ven and I were sweating like mad and our long hair didn't help at all gah!

He busted out 'Getting Over' as the 1st track of the night and it sure got all of us jumping planet earth down!

And partay and partay and partay and par and par and partaaayyyyyy~!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02E9Yaf3I98

Haha yeah that's my voice yelling out and singing along LOL

The LED robots were phenomenal!

They were dancing along to his beats and shot out sparklers of fire when we least expected it

Take a look!

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rpE6Hm9mBDk

Insane much?

The party didn't stop till sunrise!

Another one of Guetta's popular track. I'm sure most of you would have heard it at least ONCE, especially if you've watched Step Up 3 the movie! Club Can't Handle Me 😀

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoMDKdKc2GA

I could remember us perspiring buckets and buckets after all that jumping and headbanging.

Thank god for Crocs and flip flops! Hint: Don't be like other bimbotic girls wearing high heels to a beach party. They not only make you a sunken twat with each step you take on the sand, it's also not ideal for dancing/jumping around a rave.

Getting slightly brighter already! The sun was rising in the distance

When we were on our way out, we saw lotsa people pissed drunk by the roadside and all smashed. Like totally smashed to no return.

Exhibit A below, scrambling for dear life onto a barricade covered in other people's puke?

Gawd no. This is just gross.

We left by 7am and managed to take the earliest train back!

Good thing the MRT crew began their day early… knowing jolly well that the morning-after Zouk Out crowd will flock transportation like hungry, drunk locusts LOL

Goodbye Zouk Out 2010! It was a swell night to remember

… for the good and the bad. See you next year!

So cute! My fluffy adorable “nekomimi” black cat ears from Comic Fiesta 2010

January 14, 2011 by thejessicat

Okay so who would've thought I'd succumb to the Jap pop culture.

I'm not referring (how about never?) to the likes of ganguro or lolita, but mild influence that appealed to the kittycat streak in me.

I don't know if this is a guy or a girl. Looks pretty androgynous to me.

Not a single clue where/what anime he's from too

But what hit me was the black cat and his black cat ears.

Long time readers of this blog will jolly well know my penchant to cats

Googling around, I found another one.

Now this one's a cutie. Except that she has pink hair and I have it red.

So just the other day, when I was sent to cover a story in Berjaya Times Square hotel for Comic Fiesta 2010, I was honestly not looking forward to it at all. Come on, Japanese culture? I never really found my affinity in that.

If it's any info, I'm a total zero in Anime, Manga, J-Pop and the like.

But a job is a job, and duty calls So I made my way there one early Saturday morning.

And there I saw people in out-of-this-world hair colors, all extravagantly dressed

Alright. I was in the right place.

Fo shizzle! 😉

Some piccies for your viewing pleasure 😀 😀

One could always use a helping hand in dolling up for a cosplay competition

Characters from Marvel's Batman on stage for a fan performance

Harlequin and the Joker!

Gawdknowswhat anime characters engaging in a swordfight

Gawdknowswho from which anime singing a themesong

Oooh art competition! This guy has so much creative juices, he drew the whole thing!

(Except the NIPS word, which was there by default)

I saw so many people portraying their favorite anime and manga characters… of which I haven't got the slightest idea of who they came dressed up as. For a moment there, I swear I felt as though I've entered a Greek symposium, and all I see are a bunch of Alpha Beta jargon αβγδεζηθ

Who? Where? But pretty awesome porcelain skin you got there, dude 😀

Are you about to wage a paintball fight in the ballroom?

If my instincts don't fail me, I'll take a lucky guess that these characters are from Naruto

Little Red Asian Riding Hood?

I reckon she's probably dressed up as some goddess with supernatural powers

FINALLY something I recognize!

Who wouldn't know the all time favorite Super Mario Bros. ?? 😀 😀

It's a timeless video game. If you don't know, you probably must've had a sad childhood or have been living under a rock, devoid of entertainment. Okay, so I shouldn't have said that. But I just did. hah.

Because coming from me, you may not want to take what I've just mentioned seriously. Yours truly here does not play any video/virtual/online games of any sort. Sad excuse, but I hardly ever have the time. Heck, I don't even know what games are built-in my Blackberry!

Super Mario and Luigi 😀

So anyway, that Saturday morning was something new. Instead of spending the sunny mornings of weekends sleeping till lunchtime, I actually witnessed a very strange yet interesting culture to me. 😀

And also…. hate to say this but…. I succumbed a little to it too.

And I did.

Don't fall off your chair laughing but I honestly didn't know what got into me when I bought this.

You've already saw it in the 1st picture but I repeat.

DO

NOT

LAUGH

Odd, i know.I was wearing this in the car while driving home

But in all honesty, where on earth can you go out decked in those pair of ears without attracting rude stares and whispers?

Only 3 places. Costume parties, roleplay sessions or in your car. Heh.

Clearly, I chose the third option.

If you ask me, I still haven't got around the idea of having 2 fluffy ears sprouting out from the top of my head just yet.

But I still find them pretty damn cute. Looks like it has become a new addition to my costume drawer :D

Signing off,

TheJessiCAT, in capitals, just for today 😛

I played a part in constructing the mean machines of Lotus Racing! | Singapore F1 Grand Prix 2010

December 19, 2010 by thejessicat

Heyylloo again loves! 🙂

If you've been following my blog for some time, yall would know that I was down in Singapore for the F1 Grand Prix previously

So yes yes, I've come to the end! This is the final installment of my series in this escapade 🙂

Funny how just one weekend trip conjured so many blogposts! 😀 Simply because I had so much to share and there were so many angles of the trip too! Here are all the episodes whilst in Singapore F1, in case you missed :

Day of arrival + Daughtry LIVE in concert + partyin' at Zouk SG  – HERE

Sexy, professional erotic dancers Chippendales striptease show – HERE

My experience during the semi finals + the grand finale night race – HERE

Top 3 champions + "tragedies" + my thoughts on the finals-  HERE

Adam Lambert LIVE in concert – HERE

Mariah Carey LIVE in concert – HERE

So now.. final day! Let's tackle it head on… full swing ahead! 😀 😀

With the boys who also went on this trip, Simon & Jackie

For today, lemme share with you my morning in the Pit Stop / Paddock area.

As far as I know, it's off limits because it can be pretty dangerous once you're inside.

There's lotsa spare parts, sharp edges, massive aerosol sprays, hardware and whatnot.

(oh, and lots and lots of hunky men too, if you consider that dangerous) *winks*

But thanks to this baby of ours, we had full access to all the restricted areas 🙂

And of course, escorted by these 2 gentlemen from Lotus Racing.

They were nice enough to show us around and bring us to meet the engineers, mechanics, technicians and whatever other profession there is to build race cars fit for the Formula One circuit.

Thanks!

and p/s – I like your shoes. They're funkehhh!

And they all have matching funkeh shoes! 😀 can't believe it's part of their uniform.

Who would've thought… MATCHING SHOES? Nice one

And so after passing through security – they were very adamant on body-checking, scanning and checking every single belonging of ours – we finally got into the restricted zone. The first thing I saw on my left was this –

Lots and lots of tyres, all labeled!

Plus, a person's rear end. 😛 😛

Saw a competitor's car parts too

Virgin Racing

Communication gear for the racers! i.e Headphones, mics

So that the person in charge can go "DRIVE FASTER U SON OF A GUN! STEP ON IT!"

I kid 😛

Spotted some dudes fine tuning the edges of the side wing (?) of the car

and more dudes doing their bit in putting the race car together

Pretty! Shiny too 😀

This dude was busy engineering some parts of the engine.

Hmmm.. i better not go too near him nor strike a conversation lest he gets distracted and screws a bolt too loosely or something. *gulp*

I'm not paying for any racer's insurance here! 😛

So we finally reached the light, and the end of the tunnel of pure seriousness and concentration. It was beginning to get rather tense in there 🙂 Here's the Pit Stop where the speed demons pull over during a race either for refuelling, new tyres, repairs and other mechanical adjustments

But now, it's filled with car body parts!!

After so much observation, here's where the kick comes in *biggrin*

One of the car engineers sensed my enthusiasm and curiosity…. and asked if if I would like to help!

*squeals*

Of course I would LOVE TO HELP!

But oh well, my hopes and dreams of getting myself dirty, fixing together a majorly important part of the race car and crawling under a race car with beads of sweat running down my forehead kinda backfired.

I'm not telling you what I helped out at! 😛

Because it was like some insignificant part with required only a miniscule amount of effort ;(

On a random note, why do the Brit and American car engineers ALL look so smart, hunky, immaculate and effortlessly suave?

They look like they could've easily finished a calendar shoot.

Plus, they are all tall, dark and handsome as opposed to the dirty, messy, smelly, smeared with grime and engine oils, having disgusting patches of sweat on their chest and underarms like the *majority* of mechanics here in Malaysia.

Don't come running after me with a spanner if you actually do happen to know a gorgeous mechanic here

OR IF YOU ARE ONE YOURSELF!

It doesn't count if he ain't local! 😛 😛

So! *dusts shoulders* I played a part in the making of this sexy mean machine!

Okay lah, I'll tell you what I helped out with. Promise you won't laugh or jeer at me nor my tiny efforts.

I only helped with painting the corners of the car with gloss paint. *runs away*

But hey! It's QUITE important too, come to think of it. You wouldn't wanna see an ugly coloured race car right? 😛 Neither would you wanna see a race car with patches of messy paintwork. 😛 😛

Yes I'm fully aware that I'm comforting myself. Heh!

But I implore you to play along for my sake! Nyahaha

Thank you for making me feel important in the race for one second.

So whenever I see Lotus Racing's car whizz past, I can at least manage a tiny

"HEYYY!! I PAINTED THAT!!

SEEE! SEE! LOOK AT IT GO! :P"

Haha enough of the nonsensical imagination. You must've thought I wrote this piece on crack or that I've turned into a delusional nutcase as we speak. In fact, I've just accidentally added a tablespoon of bitter black coffee into my Milo and now struggling to finish the entire damned mug.

It was fab while it lasted.

Back from Zouk Out 2010 @ Siloso Beach Sentosa Island, Singapore! Afrojack, Tiesto n David Guetta FTW

Fancy having no sleep entirely, getting rained on with ice-cold beer and raving all night long? Laser beams, hardcore electro-trance and house blasting the night (and morning) all the way in the 12 hour rave beach party.

Siloso Beach, along Sentosa Island across Singapore. Ain't no where but here with these electro maestros last night. You bet.

Partyin' it up by the beach with legendary DJ and trance masters flying all over the world just for one world, one music, one tribe, one dance. All in ONE night.

Of raving it on with loved ones, friends coming from far flung places, my gurls, new friends and fellow party heads. Can I get an encore? I could get used to this

What can I say? It was mindblowing. I dragged myself home the next morning after lots of goodbye hugs; all drained out with nothing but zero energy and hundreds of photographed memories captured

Laidback Luke, Dubfire and so many more were the bomb. But a 120 minutes of insanity from EACH the stars of the night was unlike any other. Afrojack was fab, Tiesto was godlike and David Guetta was simply phenomenal.

So much more to come! 🙂 🙂

But now, it's time fo some beauty sleep. Felt as though I haven't slept in 30 days and 30 nights. Here's hoping I'm not getting too old for this kind of mayhem. *hic*
