Aight this is it! Since most of you guys were anticipating more piccies from the Nuffnang Regional Blog Awards night, Imma put this up first as promised! Are you ready?

The event was a very grand one with at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Hotel, Singapore. Before it began, all the bloggers were mingling around at the red carpet and the photo wall. As we were sponsored by Pringles, there were Pringles crisps available in all 3 flavours for us to munch on!

As another one of the sponsors of the event would be Canon, we all had the luxury of having our photos instantly developed on the spot after being taken a picture of at the photo wall. Like these!

Oh and randomly, I initially wanted to wear a long dress to this awards dinner as it kinda reminds me of a prom night. Something grand, glamorous and classy. But then again, I’m now living 300 kilometers away from home so I didn’t have my gown with me T_T

So these were the only 2 which were most appropriate

And as you can see, I chose the former. The reason was kinda because it was new and I wanna break into it for the 1st time hee 🙂 I wore the latter during Valentines already. And much thanks to Diese for doing my hair, there’s tiny plaits at the back you wont be able to see

ANYWAY.

Before I begin with what happened during the event, allow me to spam more piccies (hey it’s not everyday we doll up like this right) from the red carpet, and also including the ones taken at Link Hotel where we accommodated and the bus journey towards the event!

When Yee Hou yelled to signal that our ride had arrived, it was time for everyone to leave Link Hotel to board the bus. Bon voyage!

The bus ride, consisting of 3 buses altogether, managed to ferry us right up to the doorstep of Pan Pacific Hotel in less than 30 minutes. All of us then arrived at the red carpet in style! 🙂

Anyways, the event began with a video of Nuffnang’s milestone and how it all began in the early 2007 days back in Penang woots! I too, remember their 1st Nuffnang gathering in Foodloft gurney plaza with only a handful of bloggers supporting them.

And 2+ years down the road,
Nuffnang puts together this huge event!

The video was superbly done, with co-founders Ming & Tim speaking in unison at certain jump cuts and transitions. All the Nuffies from Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and Phillipines had their chances on camera too, to make this video a complete and wholesome one.

Hence the thunderous applause and approving, proud smiles of everyone present.

Ming & Tim then began with a simple yet meaningful speech to officiate the event. I’ve shot a video of each of their speeches for you guys to relish. Do take a listen, it’s worth it 🙂

omg dunno where did Ming’s speech go. Don’t worry. Will figure that out soon.

The food then arrived to satiate our rumbling tummies. We had a simple appetizer of sour dough bread and salted butter for our tastebuds to make way for a splendid 4-course fine dining menu ahead.

And this was what we had :

The 1st course was Marinated Smoked Tuna with Feta, Herb Salad and Balsamic Olive Oil.

It was so tender, such love!
And the chunks of cheese had this salty zing to it 🙂

Next up on the list was this Light Cream of Asparagus and Green Peas topped with a Chive Mousseline. Gone are the days where bland, clear soup ruled the tables!

Next up for the 3rd course, was the Rosemary Marinated Chicken Breast with Saffron Cheesy Mashed Potato in Balsamic Mediterranean Vege in Mango Coriander Salsa Sauce.

And the chicken was really tender to the bones.

Our entertainment for the evening is from the magic-illusionist couple, JC Sum and Magic Babe Ning! The live band playing was Electrico. Woots for all of them! Oh and since we had to wait quite a bit for the dessert, ducclebears & I began to camho for the fun of it. Don’t mind us – it’s self entertainment 🙂

FINALLY THE DESSERT ARRIVED! Alas, it was a tad too sweet to all tastebuds, but I loved it all the same. Hmm.. I’ll take this as a good excuse to get myself hitting the gym again!

It was really a pain in the you-know-where as the boyfie and I faced lotsa complications in uploading of the videos due to incompatible video formats. But apart from that, we’re more than glad to share with you these videos I shot during the event.

Jengjengjeng, so as promised, here are the videos of all the winners of each category going up on stage accepting their trophy and giving their acceptance speech. For those of you who didn’t make for the award night, see it with your very own eyes to feel it! But for those of you who made it, relive the moment! 🙂

I’m so very sorry I didn’t get Xia Xue’s acceptance speech during the receipt of her Most Influential Blog Award & Best Original Blog Design Award. This is because the boyfie went to the Gents and brought the videocam along wtf. I hope he video-ed interesting moments in the Gents to make up for my rage of not getting to video BOTH XiaXue’s acceptance speeches! (okay love, I’m obviously kidding about your video-ing other men in the restroom wtf)

So I shot these 3 piccies instead, just before the announcement of the finale of Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards 2009! Check out Kenny giving the smirk when I took his picture. Nervous anot wei?

And the winner was XiaXue for yet another Award! She let out a loud squeal when her named was announced.

Kenny pulled a Kanye West on her during her Best Blog Design award. You obviously know what Kanye did to Taylor Swift during her acceptance speech did you? Well, our dear Kenny West ran up on stage and grabbed the microphone from XiaXue and parodied it.

Run! Run like the wind, child! 🙂

I then quickly made it in time (yay!) to video the VIDEO OF THE NIGHT. Xia Xue sweeps 3 awards, taking home the Best Regional Blog Award! Wow talk about triple time victory! Now, feast your eyes!

I’m actually quite happy she won. She’s sucha diva and a real b!tch at times but that’s what makes me love her. Oh well, you do need a lil drama in your lives dontcha? 🙂

Le Bouchon Bukit Bintang

I’ve always been a fan of fine dining – come to think of it, isn’t everybody? Hmm I’m pretty sure if we all had enough moolah to throw around, everyone would be flocking to those fine dining spots and posh eateries already.

Enter reality.

Truth be told… while most of us can only hit those fancy-pancies come special occasions, I’m pretty sure there are some who are lucky enough to just burn money and walk in as often as they like.

Screw you!

ANYWAY
Thanks to Shirley Hoo of Prince Hotel for extending us bloggers some invitations for this food tasting session, we got our taste of some exquisite French cuisine.

In this new menu presentation, we were served with fine portions and a good combination of foie gras, mussel soup, cod fishes, roasted beef and caramel custards.

Fancy some wine to go hand-in-hand with these?

Le Bouchon isn’t like an outlet like any other set in the row of the thriving F&B square of Changkat Bukit Bintang. It’s one of the premier ones which for your info, is an 8-time award holder of the Malaysian Tatler’s Best Restaurants.

Lemme take you around for a lil visual tour, shall we?

Upon entering, you will be greeted to the likes of many wine bottles all arranged by indexes and organized in order. Also, a wooden coffee table for two for those wine-lovers out there to chill.

After walking down a few flights of steps, you’ll come to an intersection where a door on your left leads you to the kitchen. You obviously do not go in there… however, you can peer at those hardworking chefs preparing your meals via the glass pane just like I did!

There will also be a little fishpond at the corner laced with more wine bottles.

There are a few different sections for you to choose from though – the mainroom, the private room and the couple room. Plenty of room for different occasions!

But we obviously sat at the main room, just like everyone else. Heck, because we prefer our comfort just like that. It’s merrier there and more ‘happening’ too.

Okay, time to vanquish those gastric juices already! To kick-start the whole session, we were served with some bite-sized cookies and warm house bread. Following which was the Appetizer itself, Terrine de Foie Gras maison.

For those not in the know, Foie Gras is actually goose liver. Heh.
Our appetizer was served with fig jam and grilled sour dough bread. I reckon those were necessary to neutralize the rich after-taste of our Foie Gras. Flavourful, no doubt.

Here’s a very good suggestion by one of my readers to share in this entry. Just so you guys know, Foie Gras is actually pronounced as ‘FUAH-GRAH’ and not like how it is pain-stakingly pronounced as ‘FOI-GRASS’ by most Malaysians.

Next up on the line is the Soupe de moules noires au safran et legumes aromatiques. Nevermind the extremely long dish name.

It’s basically black mussels and saffron soup with aromatique veggies. Good things come in small portions, I couldn’t get enough of this! Every last drop was worth a voyage into wonder.

Let’s take a closer look at those springy yet tender mussels.

As we moved on to the main courses, I could not help but to rub my hands together with glee.. especially when I knew there was gonna be some fish on the plate. Long-time readers of benjicajessdotcom will already know that I’m a lover of all things fishy. (Pun unintended)

Served with asparagus, this roasted codfish was to die for.
I’d give them brownie points for the beetroot sauce too!

Get ready for the name of this dish in French. It’s called *deep breath* Filet de morue roti au sirop d’erable et piment, asperges vertes a l’ail, beurre blanc de betterave. Woots! Try saying that in one breath LOL

3 of us ladies then took a walk around just before the next dish came. We were honestly complimenting the place like there was no tomorrow. Imagine a fancy French restaurant with interior decor made to look just like home – cosy, really.

As cosy as it is, there were immaculate sculptures with fine carvings as well. Check out this statue of a medieval angel atop a mantelpiece of the makeshift fireplace.

When we got back, wine was served already. We had white wine and red wine altogether.

Personally, I enjoyed the white wine the best. Very light, but refinely sweet at the same time. Getting more and more familiar with wine, as I recently attended a wine tasting session too with Chris, but that’s another story yea?

Back to where I left off, we had Roasted Beef Tenderloin. I instantly took a liking to it as was glazed with Bordeaux wine sauce and it was perfectly done. Not anything close to overdone toughness yet not undercooked with those bloody traces of flesh.

Heavenly. This is a winner for all you carnivorous meat-swashbuckling lovers out there. According to Chef Jerome, the cattle imported over are all grass fed. Unlike those grain-fed ones. Anyway, more beef pictures for you?

The steak made us full to the brim.. with absolute goodness! Ahyes.. I’m pretty sure I wont be touching another slab of meat for the next couple of days. Heh. Don’t wanna overkill, yo! < span style="color: rgb(51, 51, 255);">But make no mistake, that Roasted Beef is one to get your teeth sinkin’ into.

Dessert came to wrap up our dinner session with sugary sweetness of a caramel custard. It was Creme Brulee with raspberries – known in French as Creme Brulee aux framboises.

The upper crust layer was hard and sweet, but once you scoop it up with your spoon a smooth milky taste of custard follows through. As I hit rock bottom, the raspberries ended my experience with a sourish-sweet spring of fruity delight.

Eurodeli | Damansara Kim

Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, English, Malay, Thai and many others are among the delicacies I’ve had opportunities in tasting and pampering my tastebuds with.

But no, not with German food………… until today.

The relaunch of Eurodeli in Damansara Kim churned my stomach in preparation for a wholesome meal of German goodness. Did a lil research on German food and found that its most common and staple form of meat is pork and beef.

Oh gosh. My diet is busted again!

Ready, set… snip snip!

Completely different from its whitewashed and immaculate exterior, it was very cosy and dimly lit on the inside. Come in with me and let’s check the place out

It’s this really cosy eatery set in very rustic interior. Ample space for many tables yet doesn’t make the place too crowded. It’s decorated with huge canvas oil paintings hung on the walls, which are all for sale!

Those are all just appetizers, mind you. When the buffet began, peeps jostled to the table pronto! More vicious than a wildebeest rampage? haha.. prolly not, but it was really high-strung… you betcha.

Eurodeli had to refill their stock of food so many times. Guess that already proves how good the food tastes. I’m actually wowed at how incredible people’s appetite can be.

Look, it’s German food we’re talking about. Solid meat in all varieties spelling a mean feat of carbs. More filling than anything, if I were to say so myself.

There were more than you can possibly imagine, housed in this cosy cottage of Eurodeli. We were treated to delights of Canapés, Salmon, Liver Sausage, Ham & Cheese, Cold Cuts & Salami, Potato Salad and Cucumber Salad… and that’s only the beginning!

What really made us all exalt the Gods of Gastronomy on that day were these fine slices of meat. I haven’t had this much solid meat in a long long time.

Bow down to the glory of Roast Pork Knuckles, Kassler Ham, Roast Pork Belly with Skin, Farmer Sausage, Emmenthaler Sausage and my all-time fave, the Freshly Baked Meat Loaf.

It’s actually quite tough not to sound too suggestive nor explicit in painting a description of the sausages. I bet the older generation will frown upon my ‘innocent’ narration and cough both the very appropriately placed photos.

“The life-sized sausages were extremely long, thick and succulent.
Griping it with your bare fingers, you testify that it is moist and juicy.
With every bite of a sausage, its rich and creamy juices squirt right out.
Munching and tasting its tender flesh in between your teeth,
you’ll feel like you’ve achieved the Nirvana of gastronomic orgasm”

It was that good, I swear!

Being typical German-oriented, there was so much beer going around for everyone in the house too. The Communications & Marketing Manager, Boon, kept offering us more and more beer. *burp*

Our bellies were more than satiated and our pants were almost bursting at its seams.
(So what if I’m wearing a skirt, it’s still bursting anyway!)

I reckon more beer could eventually make us barf out everything!

That’s the one. CK and I were absolutely going bonkers over the chocolate mousse. It was so rich and chocolatey that it feels like milky cocoa ice-cream.

HEALTH IS THE PLACE TO GO

When I’m all out to begin my diet, I was invited for a food review @ Prince Hotel.

Why can’t people eat like the world’s coming to an end yet stay stick-thin?

Anyway, thank God Prince Hotel is launching their ‘Fit 4 Life’ campaign – with their new and healthy menu of various food stuff from all the categories of the food pyramid. Okay so, I won’t feel so guilty eating my guts out. (hey, it’s supposedly healthy right?)

So yeah, Tocky & I prepared our stomachs and threw our weighing scales away before this event. Be prepared. ahahahaa

We were given a neck/shoulder massage prior to the gastronomic therapy.

Onwards, came the food-tasting. We decided not to take the same food somehow. But it turned out that I took the food with the same colour. How uninteresting. And bland. (ooops) I obviously didn’t take a piccie of my plate.

I continued my hunt for butt-kicking good food and impressive food presentation. Considering the fact that the Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chef & Chef de Parties are all internationally experienced, it shouldn’t be an arduous task to spot ’em.

I liked the way those cooks prepared some of the meals. Old skool is the way to go! Oven baked to perfection. Check out his expression.. I’d liken it to that of Chef Wan.

Little bite-sized delights makes me smile. I remember the last time I tasted it – in Equatorial Hotel for the Easter Day event. It was called the Russian Salad; served in a spoon too!

There were more demos. He showed us what ingredients are to be used for a healthy meal. No preservatives, extra virgin olive oil, unsalted butter and other gastronomic jargon for dressings, condiments and herbs. Bestie Benj would know, but not I. LOL

Chef de Cuisine Donald J.P was friendly and informative like no other. We had a long chat not just about his Fit 4 Life menu, but about the cooking industry in general as well. Apparently, the latter came far and wide from overseas and my uncle in Ritz Carlton, Florida would prolly know him. Same country – what are the odds!

All I thought of the incandescent yellow van by the roadside was well, nuthin’ but an ordinary burger stall. But, what could explain the flock of people surrounding it in SS15? There’s gotta be something beyond that thought.

What could it possibly be?

And here I stand, to find out.

Zoey and I watched, as they began from scratch. Slicing the burger, frying the patties, did some mumbo jumbo with the egg, threw in those veggies …

Generously spreading the black pepper chicken sauce and button mushrooms all over the insides…

It’s so good that friendship is sacrificed for utter greed. What ever happened to sharing is caring? Poor Tocky.

Owells, there’s plenty enough to go around! For the whole motley crew, that is. We prolly sky-rocketed their business for the night a lil bit. But hey, for a famous burger store that existed since 1997, I’m pretty convinced they didn’t need our help for extra profit.

Not just humans enjoy the stuff from this big yellow van of joy. Our lil feline friend here seem to enjoy a sip or two of the …. er…. washing tub.

Good food has to come with good customer service to wrap up a good experience and a review. This big yellow burger van certainly proved its worth.

You’ll be sure as hell to see us for round #2, #3, #4, #5 and so on. Oh and, they close at 4.30am. *ponders* Hmm.. now I know where to head down for supper after a night out at MOS Euphoria. Mental note successful!
