Dimensions | Malaysia’s 1st Mobile Sci-Fi Series by Maxis & Astro!

November 27, 2009 by thejessicat

What’s big?
No, it’s not you momma’s boobies.

What’s green?
No, it’s not your mouldy sandwich

What’s scary?
No, it’s not how you look in the morning

What’s big, green and scary?
No it’s not the Incredible Hulk

What’s big, green, scary and local?
We’re about to find out!

palace

Last weekend, I was invited to The Palace @ Sheraton Imperial Hotel KL for a special screening of Dimensions TVC – A joint effort by Maxis and Astro, Malaysia’s 1st made for mobile science-fiction series.

The event began with a speech by T. Kugan and Eric Foo, to introduce to us, the media and consumers, about what the entire plot is about and how to go about watching it.

iphone
11 Episodes of Dimension altogether
created exclusively for 3G and online platforms.

Soon, Episode 1 of Dimensions premiered to spark the suspense within us. Whoa, and I must say, I was thoroughly impressed! Given that the local film industry is kinda sullen, the production crew of Dimensions did a pretty good job.

scrnshot

I like the cinematography and effects involved in the making of this sci-fi series. Well, it’s definitely something I look forward to as I can totally relate to the settings of the location and cast. Wheee! Because this sci-fi thriller is set in the heart of KL which reinvents the myths and legends of our city rainforest and ancient spirits of animist tales.

Now that’s some awesome-pawsome stuff! 🙂

scrnshot2

Here’s the plot I find worth sharing!

  • A series of mysterious outbreaks is sweeping through KL.
  • Entire shopping malls struck blind, multiple incidents of group hysteria, heart attacks en masse, an entire secondary school comatose. The entire medical comunity is at a loss for the cause, except for one doctor.
  • Convinced there is a correlation, she goes in search of the truth, discovering a group of unique individuals with extraordinary powers.
  • With the appearance of an enigmatic young girl and 2 dark characters on the hunt, an epic adventure beckons, with millions of lives at stake.
  • Will that curious and determined doctor uncover the truth and save the nation from this widespread epidemic? Or will these dark forces ultimately find what they are looking for and plunge the world into chaos?

doit

Our popular local actor Jehan Miskin stars as this metrosexual malay male with abnormal agility. Oh and *psst I think Rufus starred by justin chan is pretty cute! He plays the short geeky young chinese male by the way.

gshot3

Nom nom time!

gshot2

Right after the screening, activation stations were then set-up for anyone who is registered with iPhone 3G to watch anytime they want. And it was time for dinner! In other words, camwhore time wheeeee~

Long lost friend from Penang

Soon after, it was time for some lucky draws! Oh for the record I’m NEVER lucky in Lucky Draws. Arghh. 2 people won an iPhone 3GS just like that, including a friend of mine, Xiang. Gosh. Jealous over the top dot com dot info. >__<

OH AND ONE MORE THING :

TM Everyone Connects Launch + Flash Mob | Bukit Bintang

November 26, 2009 by thejessicat

It was a quiet Sunday afternoon and I had a feeling I didn’t want to stay at home all alone after doing the house chores! So I decided to meet up with a couple of friends down town Star Hill (Bukit Bintang)

join

The traffic snarl was unbearable towards the city and I just realized that I completely forgot about the huge and grand launch of TM Everyone Connects! No wonder the massive gridlock was insane!

wild

They even shut one of the most important roads in town just for the entire event to take place – with the huge stage, LCD screen and a gigantic crowd of energetic youths! So the moment I got there (getting a parking space was a pain!) Sam and I then headed towards the center of the hype.

samme

trio

There was a huge display of a stomp performance by Stompers KL, with broomsticks, pots and pans and many other household stuff! Video thanks to Sam, checkit out :

It certainly got all the onlookers especially the foreigners real confused yet amused at the same time : )

flashmob

bigscreen
Bunkface’s Through My Window
was playing all day!

Other popular songs were played as well and the volume was pumped up to the max! Taylor Swift’s ‘Love Story’, Boys Like Girls ‘Love Drunk’, Katy Perry’s ‘Waking Up in Vegas’ together with more chart-topping hits! We sang along like crazy.

bunkface

Bunkface then made their appearance and ran towards the stage to sing their popular song, Through My Window! It was broadcasted on the big screen along with the lyrics for all to see and sing along!

shaggystaff

Check out Sam and I jumping on the bandwagon to participate as well in the video that I shot with Sam’s camera:

DO NOT LAUGH
Cos I’m singing in a very insane manner! >_<

Another awesome thing that was so coincidental was that, I met a few of my readers during this Everyone Connects launch! Geddit? Everything is possible with Everyone Connects : ) Yup, because everyone really connects today! It’s really nice meeting your readers in person, and getting to know them too.

allison

And here they are, lemme intoduce Allison (above)
and Sue Fei (below) for you ^_^

suefei

I was enticed by the participation of this huge flash mob. Fun and communication transcends at any age! I saw the old, the young and the… erm.. very young, playing a part in this launch as well!

youth

It was rather amusing when I noticed that all the passengers of our skytrain – the LRT, kept peering through the glass window just to look down at everything that’s happening right here in the middle of Bintang Walk.

unite

Soon after, Reshmonu then prepared to perform, he was dressed as a big orange microphone when he was running towards the stage! But we all knew it was him – his dreadlocks were the giveaway!

reshmonu

There was a heavy downpour but it definitely did not dampen our spirits. We continued singing and jumping in the rain along with the outrageous crowd before escaping to grab some dinner in Secret Recipe with Joshua, Sam and Vic.

four

When I came back, local band Basolaye was playing on stage with their very own version of Through My Window. Apparently they had a whole hoard of supporters, roaring and cheering for them throughout the performance.

basolaye

Bunkface then stole the limelight again and performed the closure of this entire TM Everyone Connects launch.

nitecrowd

It certainly was an eventful day and a rather awesome one too. Connecting – with no cutting required! Hahahahaaha (If you’re Malaysian, you would understand this joke) So if ya spot me walking in the streets whatsoever, let’s take a picture and get connected as well, wheeee! : )

The All American Rejects LIVE in Malaysia | Bukit Jalil

November 11, 2009 by thejessicat

Hey heyyy I know you guys have been waiting for this… and a promise is a promise come whatever. I’ll try not to let anything affect me after the bereavement of my beloved grandfather so I guess Imma just put this up right now.

So here goesss!

bond

It was an early start of the day on Saturday, when American punk-rock outfit ‘The All American Rejects’ came down to Malaysia some nights before. Jet-lagged as they were expected to be, I was surprised they were just their quirky self, all the same… Showing no signs of lethargy.

gshot5
Bumped into the Sony Manager too!
🙂 great to see ya again
pudding

We were served lunch before the press conference and ohmy, what caught my eyes were the bread & butter pudding and the scallop & asparagus mini pie-looking things!

pie

When the 4 lads walked into the room, they were swarmed with flashes of DSLRs and other cameras alike. Yours truly, were one of them!

mikenick

Hey if I don’t mobb them you wouldn’t be able to relish these photos right 🙂

christyson

While Tyson did most of the talking, he emphasized that The All American Rejects will never let their fans down by cancelling a concert just like that.

pc

He shared with us why their concert which was initially scheduled on the 10th Oct 09 got postponed to today. I think if you knew, ya wouldn’t be that upset.

sharing
They were even sharing the microphone
Look how close they are!

Tyson had a reeeelllyyy bad injury! The docs sed that his whole leg had to be amputated should he persue the earlier tour. Now we wouldn’t want that to happen to the frontliner of AAR, would we?

after

Digi Music Live then presented AAR an impressively framed gold framed gift and also a life-sized get well card for Tyson. So thoughtful of the organizers, no? 🙂

golden

Crystal and I then proceeded to the round table session where we got to interview Nick and Tyson. Guess what’s the 1st thing I asked him?

camho

HIS TATTOOS OF COURSE
– being the body art fan that I am 🙂

He told us that he has 7 of them and each of it has a meaning. If I remember correctly, this was what he shared:

  1. Lip tattoo which says ‘MUM’
  2. Back arm tattoo : a symbol to protect him against dangerous women O_O”
  3. Shoulder tattoo : Electrical socket (to charge the band)
  4. Chest tattoo : AAR band logo
  5. Finger crease tattoo : a peace symbol
  6. *Cant remember whe
re* : heart shape (did it together with his drummer)
  7. *ant remember where & can’t remember what)

fans
Fans lined up as early as evening!

Bryan and I then hungout in Dome cafe to kill time while waiting to head down to Bukit Jalil for the much anticipated DiGi Live Music – All American Rejects gig.

localtalents

As usual, we had our top local bands kickstarting the event; such as Pop Shuvit, One Buck Short, Disagree and more. I liked the part where One Buck Short performed with singers from Bunkface and other bands because the former band’s lead singer was hospitalized. Talk about uniting in the name of music!

ends

FINALLY The All American Rejects hit the stage, after almost an hour of our waiting while watching a looping MTV on the big screen.

down

They sang songs off their previous album as well as all time chart topping tracks from their latest one ‘When The World Comes Down’.

swingswing

I remember headbanging really hard to some of my faves ‘Swing Swing’, ‘It Ends Tonight’, ‘Dirty Lil Secret’, ‘Gives You Hell’,

acoustic

Nick was looked so suave on stage with both his acoustic and electric guitar. He’s my fave member! Sorry, another Nick photo below because I fancy him like that. 🙂

electric

Tyson was his usual quirky self and got really hyper putting on a Native American feathered headgear for Halloween. He mentioned that it is a norm for peeps from his origin, Oklahoma.

before

dirty
Dirty Lil Secret!

The boys made up pretty well to their fans with more showtime on stage. More than an hour of AAR’s live performance!

nativehell

Bumped into some friends who were enjoying themselves and jumping around as well!

gshotjiemuigshot4gshot3

We all had fun, I betcha! I’m sure we were really glad to catch yet another of our fave artists playing right infronta us for real!

woots

GOOOOO AAR!

BRANDS Generasi Hebat Launch | Essence of Chicken

November 6, 2009 by thejessicat
Funnily enough, I’ve always thought that the generation of this era is the ‘it’ generation of everything. Y Generation, as we are called, is the epicenter of the universe where everything is in live feed.

whip

Call us whatever you like, but I’d like to think we’re the new and savvy generation. The ones who find it essential to broadcast our updates/info to the world, hence giving rise to the new social media like YouTube, Blogging, Facebook and Twitter. We make our own luck and stay a step ahead. Now, you no longer have to be old and balding to be a CEO… make way for the young & capable bosses of the corporate ladder!

Dontcha think so?

peek

If it wasn’t for our being in this Generasi Hebat, (Bahasa Malaysia for ‘amazing generation’) we wouldn’t have also made so many friends all over the globe. The thrill of adventure is what keeps us going! We let nothing stand in our way.

Imma tell you that this amazing generation that I’m a part of is called Generasi Hebat and why it’s so hebat to be just like us! : )
Brands has identified 5 core traits about this generation

pc
H.E.B.A.T
Handal (Ingenious)
Explorasi (Open Minded)
Boleh (Go Getter)
Aktif (Alert)
Tekun (Determined)

There ya go.. education goes a long way. Nice new Bahasa Malaysia words to learn for the day, courtesy of Brands!

Gone are the ways of snail mail (unless you wanna impress your granny) and smoke signals are now nothing but just a puff above our barbeque pits. Our method of communication is now through emailing, texting, IM-ing and 3G.

bye
Why, of course I wanna be part of this generation!
The new is what we live for and we embrace it well.

I can always remember the times that mom makes it a point for me to drink my Brands Essence of Chicken when I stay up late to do revisions for PMR and SPM. It helps me to stay alert and stay awake especially while mugging for those exams!

point
We are ready for anything!

And guess what? Till now, I never fail to have a gulp of it when I’m staying up late when I’m swamped with piles of articles to write and photo after photo to cross-process. It means a lot to be born into this generation.

hebat

Give it another few more years, and I gather that iPods, earphones, headphones and those of such will now be biologically classified under the human anatomy. We never quit. We let nothing stand in our way. It just keeps growing, era after era! LOL. We are the reaction to every action caused.

hourenroar

Generasi Hebat is personified by 5 young hebat individuals who have been specially chosen to lead the campaign. The energetic Hafiz, multitalented Hou Ren, Akim & Aril from Akademi Fantasia 7 and Black, the winner of Mentor 3.

ready

So Imma stay smart and savvy proudly in this Generasi Hebat. But hey, even if you ain’t in this generation
, you can always have a gulp of Brands Chicken Essence too. Ohwell, health transcends at any age!

gals

I attended their launch with Ringo and Jaclyn just the other day, and we watched these 5 youthful personalities as they made their public debut today with a specially created song entitled ‘Juara’

stars
See smokin’ hawt entrance summore!
It has to be HEBAT weii

Pretty cool how our kids will ask us if half-bitten apples and berries were named AFTER the Apple iMac or Blackberry smartphone. We seek answers when others question. That’s the Generasi Hebat for you! And speaking of being tech savvy,

found
Brands now has their own application on Facebook too –
[here!]

Oh and ya know what’s cool too? They had this bright lime green fashion accessory that came with our goodie bags. No, it’s not a shoelace neither is it a land yard – it can be ANYTHING! 🙂 Hmm… I feel a little Bohemian today, shall we take it neon instead?

bohestring
How will your amayyzeeeng minds tell you to wear it?
