Fresh off from Episode 1 of my birthday celebrations, I’m leaving no delay before writing Episode 2.
If you’ve read it, you would know that the first part was spent with my family and workmates. The second part, as you will see, is spent with a small group of buddies doing what we love most.
So what do we love most?
On the night of my birthday, I roped in bestiePam for a night out of food, relaxing and…
SHISHA OF COURSE!
On huge, comfy couches, no less!
It wasn’t just the both of us tonight, as we gathered a few more people to join as well.
Cue the boys! Drumroll please?
Tonight’s company and I. With all the food, drinks and shisha in tow!
Shot some photos of the beautifully decorated interior. Take a look:
What do you think? Marvellous, isn’t it? Very, very Middle Eastern yet extremely contemporary.
I loved the play of lights, perfect usage of wide spaces and their stained glass decor!
Us again chilling all laidback on a breezy Monday night
Apart from the two shisha bongs we had (thanks so much Eshan!) we ordered a great deal of food too.
Ready for them?
Iranian Tea
This was Pam’s. I never really favoured the taste of Iranian Tea but she loved it.
Greek Salad. It had a generous helping of tomato, cucumber, capsicum, olives and creamy feta cheese.
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
Chilli Potato. Fried Potato Cubes with Coriander, Tomato and Garlic. Very flavourful and mildly spicy!
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Baba Ganoush. Eggplant Dip with tomato, onion and olive oil served with bread.
★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
I wanted to try this non-creamy and coarse version but I didn’t exactly like the
texture of this although I enjoyed its smokiness and flavour!
Opt for the creamy version if you can! It’ll be heaps more delicious.
Hummus. It was topped with Sauteed Sliced Lamb.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
This one takes the cake! Perfect consistency and the lamb slices made it all the more tastier!
Shish Kebab
★★★★★
Shish Tawook and Lamb Cubes with Saffron Rice

Shish Tawook
★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
The food wouldn’t stop coming. We ate so much and took a much deserved break in between!
We like to hog the camera. That’s an understatement but check out our goofiness and vanity anyway.
I think we were tuning out of the conversation when the boys began to immerse deeper in their discussion.
I don’t quite recall what it was. To my best memory, revolved around war, refugees and philosophies, I think.
The boys.
Eshan, Pam and I
Konzy and I
Eshan, Pam and Fadzly. Hi!
After lots of catching up, chit-chatting and talking about almost everything under the sun, we felt like having a sweet accompaniment to our otherwise savoury dinner. Yup, you can probably see where this is going.
THIS CALLS FOR DESSERT!
Caramel Cream. It wasn’t at all cloyingly sweet but more of a mildy sweet, creamy touch!
I could have plates and plates of it and still yearn for more.
★ ★ ★ ★ ★
Baklava. This is a traditional middle eastern finger pastry filled with nuts.
★ ★ ★ ☆ ☆
My buddies seemed to like it, but I was yet to acquire its sweet, sticky, chewy texture.
After some four hours of hanging out, the night was exactly what I had in mind, to say the least.
We had shortlisted a few places to check out but I was glad we chose this one instead.
I was aiming for something casual; a night of relaxation, wonderful conversations, comfy seats, good company, delicious food and bountiful shisha flavour and In House, Publika befitted my night perfectly.
The waiters were relatively friendly and our shisha charcoals were changed regularly too. Entertainment-wise, the television channels projected onto the big screen was good enough. Why need any more entertainment when you’re with good company, eh?
Thanks for a great Monday night out, pals!
I know this was supposed to be a birthday post but I guess it’s only natural of me to review the restaurant at the same time as well. Couldn’t help it, sorry!
Nevertheless, I hope you guys enjoyed yourself as much as I did!

Remember when I said I was going to celebrate my birthday during the entire month of July?
Well I wasn't joking. I actually did.
But this year's celebrations will be slightly different. In fact, very different. I didn't want to throw a huge party and get drop dead drunk with my mates like I do every year. If you've been following me, you'll probably remember my mentioning that I have my personal reasons for why and that I will only announce it two years later from now.
Trust me, you'll be in for a shock as to why, when I finally reveal the reason. Haha!
Anyway, here's the cake I was surprised with the weekend right before my birthday!
Such a beautifully decorated cake, no?
Thanks for the effort and the thoughts, mother dearest
A Chinese-style lunch with mom and dad at Foong Yean Chinese restaurant @ Jalan Tengah, Penang.
★★★★★
It was delightful! I haven't had good Chinese food in a while. This certainly quenches my cravings!
Here's what we had. I definitely recommend this humble, no-frills Chinese restaurant for small, family dinners!
Seaweed and egg soup
Stir fried tofu, mushrooms, chicken chunks and prawn
Soy steamed fish
Scallops with brocolli, corn, mushroom and carrots
Aubergine and prawns
Celebrations with la famille didn't stop just yet.
The very next day, mom took me to my favorite Japanese buffet place – TAO Japanese Cuisine in Penang Times Square @ Georgetown!
Mom and I with our plates and plates of food!
I was clearly a happy birthday girl that afternoon.
Gosh those barbequed prawns were mighty yum!
Only some of the food we had. We ate like there was no tomorrow LOL.
I'm not embarassed to admit. Hey, cut me some slack. Birthdays only come once a year, don't they?
When we were done eating, laughing, chatting, taking photos and having fun, a loud birthday song blasted from the speakers. I was a tad confused as to who TAO was playing that birthday song for.
Surely they didn't know it was my birthday; mom and I didn't breathe a word!
TAO not only played me a song but also surprised me with a tiny cake!
It was so thoughtful of them! They didn't have to!
With my tiny surprise cake. Thank you for your graciousness in making me feel special on my birthday. I sure did!
But above all, credit goes to mother for taking me out this weekend.
I had a splendid time with her not only celebrating my birthday but also catching up on all things mother-daughter and girly conversations.
Thanks a bunch, mom!
Much love.
While my weekend of a be-early/pre-birthday celebration in Penang went perfectly well, I wasn't at all excited nor counting the minutes to my actual birthday on the 1st of July when I was back in Kuala Lumpur.
Ironically, I was busy doing some work when the clock struck midnight Like clockwork, the overwhelming surge of birthday wishes via calls, texts and social media swept me by storm
And that's when the excitement began to grow on me.
Waking up the next morning with more than 70 people sending me their birthday greetings!
What a wonderful thing to wake up to. Love you guys, thank you
Reached the office and the post man came just in time as I walked through the door.
It was a birthday card full of cats! Thank you so much, you know who you are
I spent my birthday in office doing work LOL. The 1st of July 2013 happened to fall on a weekday – a Monday, even more so!
Didn't look like I had much of a choice, but I didn't mind going to work and spending my birthday with my workmates anyway. They're a fun bunch!
I had expected the Monday to pass just like any other regular day, but my boss and colleagues took the time to take me out for lunch at Friendscino Restaurant and Bar.
Our set lunch came with an awesome spread of salad, fruits and soup.
Some of the food we had
My baked John Dory fish
Some of us. Thanks for the celebratory lunch, dear boss!!
Makeshift birthday cake.
We had a warm chocolate brownie to end our session!
Back in office, the colleagues ordered Dominos Pizza for an early dinner.
Oh dear… looks lke it was really an indulgence for me. I had to declare today a Cheat Day!
In fact, the weekend before my birthday, and my actual birthday aren't my only Cheat Days.
The whole of July was practically a Cheat Month LOL! Hey, I didn't mind at all Cue the cupcakes! Haha.
So there you have it, Episode One of my birthday celebration.
The last I checked my drafts, there are five parts altogether. Stay tuned for Episode Two!
Hi loves! Gosh, the past seven days has been such a busy week for me.
I just realized that it's been exactly a week since I've last blogged. Sorry for the absence!
Anyway, I've just got home from a long weekend of work and holiday in Ipoh.
Yeah it's a public holiday again, one of the best things about living in Malaysia, eh? Public holidays come in abundance haha! This time, it's Nuzul Al-Quran, a religious occasion commemorated by Muslims.
Yes, babyChivas, mommy's home.
Have you been a good boy while I was gone?
So… let's get on with what made my week this time round.
Was requested to record a video for someone special for her birthday.
I hope you're not reading this because it'll spoil the surprise, I suppose LOL
Did my charity work for the week. This time, it's for Pathway 2 Society.
A non-profit effort to reintegrate ex-offenders/ex-convicts/ex-juveniles
into society by giving them a second chance at life. Check them out!
Had a pretty refreshing dip by the poolside.
Random photo on the way for my training at gym!
Those guns are ready to cry!
Another thing that made my week were smoothies.
Ahhhh yes, fruit and veggie smoothies! Can't live without them
This week's post-workout meals:
Seven nut muesli with green apples, milk and cinnamon
Organic cellentani with brocolli, garbanzo beans, egg white scramble and flax.
Wholewheat bread with peanut butter, almonds and garbanzo beans!
Organic wholewheat fusili tossed with zucchini, olive oil, carrots and flax.
Oven-baked salmon with diced potatoes, capsicums, egg-white scramble and garden peas
Stir-fried carrots, spinach, aubergine and chicken chunks
Peruvie Peruvian Grilled Chicken @ TTDI

Loved it. It gave me a good bang for my buck. Delicious and cheap!
Full blog feature soon.
My furkid Chivas always steals my cushion. Perhaps I should get him an actual pet bed of his own?
But then again, he sleeps and lounges about practically EVERYWHERE.
Aku rasa, usahlah membelikannya tempat istirahat sendiri dah.
Oh since my cat seems to be very popular now, I figured you might wanna watch his antics for yourself
Weekends are best for your trusty ol' kicks, no?
I love my worn-down sneakers, the Chuck Taylor Converse All Star high tops.
Weekend outfit of the day with granny.
I wish I was a stoic as she is. Her pokerface sends me chills down my spine.
Restoran Fai Kee @ Ipoh
★★★★☆
We had brunch here. A very popular place among the locals for noodles of pork, fish and drunken prawn.
I was overjoyed when I found my favorite Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) machine
tucked away in an arcade in Ipoh Parade called 'Molly Fantasy'.
12 rounds back-to-back came as no surprise. I was sweating buckets and panting rather audibly
up till a point where the people around me probably thought I was down with an incurable disease. Erk.

Random video after returning home from a long day.
Packed my gear and dressed professionally the next day for a heavy responsibility of shooting a wedding.
While the thought of holy matrimony has always been the last thing on my mind for the longest time, undertaking this task of shooting a wedding and making sure every memorable moment is recorded made me realize a few things that I've probably never thought of.
Prior to this, I've never really seen weddings in this light nor have I envisioned how beautiful a wedding can be.
Biar benar, begitu indah menyaksikan akad nikah mereka sehingga hampir menitis air mata!
Stole a quick selfie in the bridal chamber before I began the shoot
at Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites, Ipoh
With the stunning couple. Congratulations, Soon and Shirly!
The very look on the bride and groom's faces, the merriment that filled the wedding reception, the congregration of old friends and long-lost family members coming together to celebrate a wonderful union, the expressions of both young and old, the nostalgia rising from speeches and presentations, the picture-perfect wedding photographs, the grand ballroom, the decorations, the wedding cake… and the whole celebratory shebang.
Wow. Guess I've never looked at it this way before.
One day, just.. maybe someday, I'll be a beautiful, blushing bride walking down the aisle in my gorgeous white gown, complete with a delicate veil and bridal train cascading behind me.
But it all seems so far away as we speak.
I've not even found my Mr. Right yet (No, I'm not looking for the time being!). Who will I end up spending the rest of my life with? Who will I end up growing old with? Could it be you? I'll never know.
Walaupun aku tidak mencari pasangan buat masa ini, tidak salah jikalau aku bicara bahawa aku masih menunggu jodoh, kan?
On another serious note, I've been busy with very important and legal papers this week.
Many were quick to assume when I posted it on my Facebook and Instagram but no, it's not a marriage registration.
Some of you have already accurately guessed but I'll only officially reveal and blog all about it when the time is right.
The end of the long weekend is over and so are the parties.
The long weekend was a perfect respite from the city. But for now, work beckons once again.
WIll be back in office tomorrow! Have a great seven days ahead, you.
Much love,
Jessicat

This week was filled with friends, love and celebrations. Oh and, a lot of food as usual haha!
So let's see… what made my week this time round?
My seven days began at work (where else?) on a Monday. And as we were chilling outside our office porch, my colleague took this candid shot of me.
Deep in conversation with another colleague LOL.
So I suppose this is my serious face when I pay attention to someone talking.
(Actually I don't even remember what we were talking about anymore)
He took another photo, which I had some fun editing.
Tuesday night went great as bestieJoyce asked me out to celebrate my belated birthday!
She was away on my actual birthday, so I guess this makes up for it. I was thrilled
Dressed up really casually tonight; I didn't feel dressy for some reason.
The birthday dinner at Picknik,Publika was great! Wonderful conversations my loves over great food
Full blog post soon!
The rest of the week was all about my daily grind at gym and post-workout meals as usual:
Lower back and leg day. Hi!
Blueberry proats with banana and almonds
Organic wholewheat fusili tossed in extra virgin olive oil with
chicken mince, baby asparagus, kidney beans and chia seeds!
Experimented with something new on Thursday. Raw honey baked stuffed capsicums with lean, ground beef, minced chicken breast and vegetable fillings!
I don’t usually praise my own cookbook creations but this was delicious and tastes just like pie!
Will refine my recipe and hopefully post it up ok!
Lunch with the colleagues at IKEA Restaurant & Cafe
No prizes in guessing which is mine!
When we arrived today, I was almost overcome with shock when there were hardly anyone eating at a restaurant which was, more often than not, always 100% full and even people lining up in long queues!
Then I realized it was Ramadan month where the Muslims fast all day. Right, no wonder.
The next night, Kon and I decided to storm Jalan Alor for some local streetfood.
Actually, he was craving for hot and spicy clams since our last visit. So we caved in.
Yun Lai Restaurant along the buzzing food haunt in Jalan Alor.
We didn't remember which was the store we patronized on our last visit, so we gave this one a try.
Amongst the hoardes of stores lining the main street, one could easily be spoilt for choice.
Here's what we ordered:
Chicken Satay
Black Pepper Baked Prawns
Barbequed Stingray
Sauteed Asparagus
Hot & Spicy Lala (clams)
Grilled Mushrooms
The food was great! We had an enjoyable evening there, despite the presence of aggressive waitresses trying to solicit customers to dine in their stores. She literally yanked my sleeved in a relatively rough manner towards her store LOL.
Didn't quite appreciate that. But the food certainly made up for her lack of mannerism!
Come Saturday, I threw a small birthday party with my closest buddies.
Many thanks to The Pool KL for sponsoring my night and Smirnoff Vodka! Thank youuuuu so much.
Sorry for the bad quality! It happens when the image is sent directly from Instagram
We also spent the afterparty in Zouk Club KL. That was one hectic night, alright.
Will be blogging about the night a.s.a.p promise! x
Just a few things I've pondered about and held for a long time, but only decided to execute now.
When you ask yourself whether or not you are truly happy with the way things are working for you now, what would your answer be?
Are you happy with where you are, what you are doing, how you look, who you are with, and your life in general at this present time? If you're not, or have mixed feelings about your answer, then you probably lack the happiness you have in mind.
Do something different, for once. Only you can dictate where your life is headed to.
Do something to break free from your current shackles and give yourself the time to re-evaluate.
A re-route. A different path in life. A new direction.
Sure, you may not be sure if this is really what you want and risk emotional withdrawals but hey, it's only normal. Don't be afraid to embark on something new or shuffle your priorities. It's just the beginning.
Go where you are celebrated; not tolerated!
So if you think you are strong enough to shut your eyes, put your barricades behind you, and dive into the deep for a new adventure, by all means, go for it. I did, with absolutely no regrets.
Much love,
Jessicat

The Sunday Times is a weekly series; published every Sunday night to recap the highlights of my week, capture what piques my interest and to briefly highlight my recommendations for to-go and to-eat places!
For days and weeks leading up to this year’s Carlsberg ‘Where’s the Party?’, I must say I was pretty excited.
They did a terrific job in hyping the party up! I too, shared the buzz and my excitement with everyone.
Goodies at my doorstep as early as a month before the party! A Nixon LED-silicone watch, a Carlsberg flashdrive
and six bottles of Carlsberg in a bag full of glowsticks, streamers and shiny tinsels!
The very week before the party, I received my invitation.
The bag contained earplugs, a neck travel-cushion, an eye-mask and a couple of Carlsberg bottles.
Granted, my enthusiasm grew as the days passed, but I was half wondering how exactly they were going to throw a “bigger and bolder” one this year, as last year’s epic tri-nation beach party certainly raised the bar to an apex!
Remember the teaser post I wrote for Carlsberg – Where’s the Party?
That being said, Carlsberg and team would most definitely have big plans to up their ante this year, in line with their claims of “Malaysia’s most epic party”, right?
Wrong.
Unfortunately, ‘Where’s the Party?’ 2013 was, to many, nothing compared to last year’s mind-blowing instalment.
Don’t get me wrong.
This year’s ”Where’s the Party?’ 2013 certainly had its strengths, but not nearly enough to outweigh what it lacked.
Being an avid partygoer with a strong thirst for good celebrations, allow me to share my experience and elaborate my observations with an objective point of view.
Adhering to the time stated in the invitation, my partycrew and I adjourned to Serdang in the mid-afternoon.
Oh the suspense! I couldn’t wait to see what was in store for us at ‘Where’s the Party?’ 2013.
Where will we be taken to this year? Where will the location be this time round?
Arriving at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) where we are to be transited to the party showgrounds.
Our transit bus.
So excited! Where will they be taking us?
The transit bus dropped us off at the registration area which was a mere 5 minute drive.
Arriving the grounds with my partycrew.
Up to this point, I predicted that this year’s Carlsberg ‘Where’s the Party? 2013 might most probably boast an aviation theme or incorporate in-flight characteristics to the party. Its tell-tale signs led me up to this assumption.
Goodie bags with neck travel-pillows, earplugs and eye-masks.
Chartering a transit bus bearing an airplane icon.
Hearing the familiar airport jingle
A welcome announcement by a female disembodied voice.
What else could it be?
Upon seeing the cabin crew/air stewardess uniform on the usherettes,
I knew for certain that I had predicted this year’s theme correctly.
Then again, why wasn’t it held close to the airport if we were to be travelling somewhere (like we did last year)?
Hmmm.. maybe we aren’t going to be travelling anywhere this year then.
Konzy and I after receiving our “flight tickets”.
BestiePam and I about to enter the party showgrounds.
And we were off!
Soon, it was confirmed that Carlsberg ‘Where’s the Party? 2013’ was all happening at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS). No, MAEPS wasn’t only the first location to assemble.
It was THE LOCATION – the very answer to Where’s the Party?
Though the location was no where as impressive as its predecessors, Golden Palm Tree Resort in Gold Coast Sepang (2011) and Hard Rock Hotel in Penang (2012), I was certain (and hopeful!) that this year’s party would be just as fun as the one held in Carlsberg Brewery in Shah Alam (2011).
After all, it doesn’t necessarily need to be in a resort hotel to ensure a good party in motion.
Good job in keeping the suspense on the high this entire time!
I was amazed when I saw the the giant signboard and entrance; very akin to the typical ones you see at airports!
WELL DONE
What’s even cooler, they had makeshift metal detector booths set up with “airport officials”
stationed to “scan” our bodies for any metal or weaponry before “boarding” our ‘flight”.
It’s the little things and effort paid attention to in enhancing a theme of a party, that makes me happy.
I loved how they utilized every opportunity to heighten our party experience from the beginning – a sign of a great night ahead I hope?
Cabin crew offering us cans of Carlsberg
The elevated DJ booth, resembling an airplane
Yup, the entire party was full-on, every bit of an aviation theme.
My partycrew and I walked to the first thing we saw – the games station.
Shot before playing.
This game was fairly interesting!
It was an action-memory game and we were supposed to imitate the airport runway security too.
Evidently I was having fun jumping LOL.
Final showdown between me and bestiePam as everyone else got kicked out LOL
Us players on the “airport runway”!
Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to play all the other games such as Loud Ludo, No-Sigh Flight, Turbalance and Safety Slide as I was asked to leave the game zone and head to the press conference which was to begin soon.
Ushered into the “departure hall” for the Press Conference.
Inside, I figured another reason why Carlsberg adopted the aviation theme.
It’s probably because winners will stand a chance to win themselves an opportunity to fly to Europe for the global ‘Where’s the Party?’ 2013 where Axwell will be performing. Hence the whole emphasis on a flight experience.
Isn’t that cool?
There was an enormous Antonov airplane inside the vicinity of the rave zone
I heard you could actually climb up and sit inside the cockpit to check it out! Dang, wish I’d known earlier!
But at the very least, I managed to get a picture with the propellers!
That still counts as something, doesn’t it?
The Managing Directors of Carlsberg Malaysia & Carlsberg Singapore making their grand entrance!
They kicked off the press conference in full swing
Mr. Henrik Anderson giving us, the media a warm welcome
Up till this point, I was still in high spirits. How can I not? I’m sure you can tell from the video above.
The amazing set-up, the whole ‘jet-set’ theme, the games – it was basically the entire initial excitement of the party that got me hungry for more of this year’s instalment!
….. until the line-up was announced.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not putting these fellas down; all I’m saying is that most media around me, including myself, was a little puzzled as to why this year’s line up was a far cry from last year’s eclectic entertainment.
During the interview session, a few from the media had also asked what was the reason behind the choice of this year’s line-up, being very different from last year’s.
However Carlsberg did an excellent job in presenting the line-up to us in airport shuttles!
First of the lot, popular local stand-up comedian, Douglas Lim
I was thrilled to have him as part of the line-up!
Local DJ Eva T
Eva T giving a short speech
Local DJ Funkzu
Offbeat rappers and singers, Nine Lives
3AM in the Valley, Big Skrptz from Australia and Joel Turner
MC Derrick and DJ Inquisitive
DJs Class and Ming Ming
German DJ Miss Nine
These girls got all the men wolf-whistling!
Korean ‘K-Pop’ girl band, Sweety.
And finally… headliners Swedish Dub House duo Cazzette
Tonight’s entertainment.
The view of the stage from afar
Funnyman Douglas Lim took the stage and cracked his usual arsenal of rib-tickling jokes up his sleeve!
Best part was when he sang his own rendition expressing his hatred for K-Pop
of popular Cantopop song, Beyond’s Hoi Fut Tin Hung.
It was my second time listening to that song now. I freakin’ love it!
Being Cantonese myself, and also despising the K-Pop craze, I could totally relate to his song!
For K-Poppers, don’t take offence, it’s just satire.
Nine Lives on stage
They performed a good deal of classic rock and pop
My partycrew and I only stayed ’til mid of Nine Lives’ performance, before we headed out for a breath of fresh air, games and for a much anticipated massage.
To our disappointment, by the time we got out at 9PM, all the games’ booths and also the massage booth was already shut.
What on earth? We were barely in there for an hour and once we came out, it was a shame that all the fun, games and massages were over. I remembered back in 2011, the games and massages went on all night!
The iDarts booth was the only games booth that was open.
We had fun playing this, at least!
The view of the stage from the crowd
It was well designed, it boasted a strong audio system, stage lighting, with both laser and pyro effects but ummm… the LED balloon container could do with a little more creativity as it looked like a giant corncob defying gravity, dangling in the middle of nowhere.
Rather out of place, no?
For their fourth time hosting Carlsberg ‘Where’s the Party?’ series of parties, MCs of the night
Patricia Knudsen and Joey G were looking very fine in their pilot uniforms.
The ‘jet-set’ theme was kept alive throughout the party. After seeing the ushers dressed as air stewards
and air stewardesses, it was only natural to expect the hosts to be donning aviation uniforms as well!
DJ Eva T on the decks
She was good, as usual, but most of us were wondering why the DJ booth was
errected in a way that her back was facing the majority of the crowd
When we adjourned from the Press Conference, we were told that there was a free flow of food served.
But as we made our way to the food section, we could hear varying complaints of “OMG the food sucks” rather audibly from the crowd. We ignored the tell-tale signs, and instead, decided to try it out and judge it for ourselves – to our utter dismay.
This year’s meal : pre-packeted food.
As glad as we were to chomp down something (gotten really hungry after a long day!), we were appalled when we saw and tasted this year’s preparation of the food.
In the past three instalments of ‘Where’s the Party?’, a sumptous buffet spread of delectable local and international cuisines, various courses, comprising the sweet and savoury, appetizers, mains, soups, desserts and what’s more, with chefs present to cook our meals right before our eyes. I’m not even joking; it was that elaborate!
In comparison to those dinners which were marvellously catered, this year’s dinner was a huge letdown.
In plastic pre-packed packets of tasteless and very bland Nasi Lemak, Bee Hoon, Nuggets, Burger and Satays.
We deliberately tried out ALL the food on the table but none even came close. Who are the caterers???
The only thing decently edible were the satays – the only ones which vanished each time the refills came.
At least we had lots and lots of Carlsberg to go around to make up for it.
One of the main redemptions of this party was that the number of guests doubled from last years ‘Where’s the Party?’.
I bumped into heaps and heaps of my buddies! T’was great to see them and catch up. Cue the pictures!
Unfortunately, like many others who left, we did not stay for the hoardes of free lok-lok steamboat trucks when the party was officially over.
But that was a fantastic surprise for those who stayed till the very end, no doubt!
My biggest regret is that my partycrew and I probably did not stay long enough to feel the heat of the party which seemed to pick up quickly after 11pm (I was there since 5pm!). Neither did I manage to catch Cazette, which I was so keen on raving to!
I might not be feeling as live wired nor into the night as I was very, very much hoping to be.
I wouldn’t say it was a horrendous nor bad party, it just didn’t live up to the high expectations we had for this year (especially after setting such high standards in the previous years) and underdelivered its claims.
Leaving as early as 10pm with mixed feelings about this years party
We had to queue up, as many others were also waiting for the shuttle bus to leave the premises
I’ve looked forward to Carlsberg Where’s the Party? 2013 for months on end and was pretty geared up for an epic night. Thus, It was no surprise when I was pretty disappointed as to why I didn’t quite enjoy myself as much as I thought I would.
I guess I really wasn’t feeling it tonight.
But we all made sure we adhered to Carlsberg’s responsible drinking and safe driving advocacy.
So to answer the question posed – YES, we did have a designated driver He is right in front of me!
In a nutshell, I must say that in comparison to the previous three Carlsberg Where’s the Party?’ versions that I have attended, this year’s party is by far the worse of the lot. From track record, I jolly well know that Carlsberg and its crew do posess monstrous capabilities to throw us kick-ass parties!
Better up your game!
Despite this year’s disapointment, I do look forward to next year’s Carlsberg ‘Where’s the Party?’ and what it has in store for us!
Check out the previous ‘Where’s the Party?’ event i’ve been to last year.
