Can you believe how much pressure is on already? 🙂 TOMORROW NIGHT is the grand finale of the Simply Fabulous Maybelline New York!
That’s Sarah Lian, one of the hosts for this series
The previous challenge had them shopping in a pair with a budget of 400 bucks to create a thematic night out partying… in only 30 minutes!
Blimey! I don’t think I can ever ever ever in the name of holymotherearth, shop for a complete outfit for a party night in only half an hour. It’s insane! But I’m glad the gurls managed to pull through
Nalin’s dream was to become a travel host
You can watch their rush hour retail madness at their official webbie here
Read more of my take of what happened previously here and here
Their final challenge was to create a whole concept during their photoshoot which is themed as “My Dream”. After all, this Simply Fabulous challenge was initially for all of these top 10 finalists to persue their dreams.
They ingeniously came up with their concept, props and spoke to a very popular Fashion Consultant, Steven Sunny of ThreeSixty Fashion. He was the Fashion Director for the entire photoshoot session today.

Here are some of the moments I captured right before their shoot.
Steffie’s dream was to become an actress
Syifa’s dream was to own her own bakery
One of the most outstanding contestants IMHO, is Diana. She’s a tough lass who handled so much controversy about her tudung(which shouldn’t be an issue in the 1st place anyway)
Preeta, the avid fashionista among the top 10
I was impressed with how the Maybelline make-up artists and hairstylists was so professional in their works. Check out how dramatic they made Calista and Susie! That’s the look I’m talking about babeh
Indeed. My kinda thing. RAWR!
Yes I’m biased like that – give me that kinda femme fatale vibe and I’ll love every single bit of it. You deserve it Calista! I was all over your look that day, wish someone could make me over like that. I wonder how I’d look!
Beware of the female species. They can claw through your skin & gauge your eyes out
And towards the end of the shoot, it was already late in the evening. Everyone was completely junked out from all the practising, shooting, rehearsing and so on.
Playing with the globe that Nalin & Zhareen used as props
Exhibit A as per below illustrates what I just mentioned about being tired and the best remedy, should there be no coffee within armslength, was to completely zonk out at a nearby couch
Alright gurls, get yourselves some beauty sleep and prepare for tomorrow night’s showdown!
One of you will be jet-setting of to New York’s Fashion Week and walk way with RM10K in sponsorship and RM15K worth of prizes. I’m feeling just as excited omg!
The dresscode for tomorrow’s grand event is : SIMPLY FABULOUS
So if you think you’re fabulous in the nude then you’re welcome to come as you are. Don’t take my word for that!Who do you think will win by the way?
What’s big, yellow and follows you around everywhere? I’m pretty sure Malaysians will get it right on the 1st go!
It’s the DiGi (one of our local telco companies) Yellow Coverage Fellow! Anyhoo, the recent party was packed with these yellow buddies, as they made an appearance for the D’Ultimate Birthday Bash in Barcelona, Sunway.
Okay LOL don’t ask. I don’t have the answers for this peculiar photograph.
Her dance steps “came from the heavens” when asked where she got those moves. Uhh.. okay. Cool. Heh. Moving on…. 🙂
I housed my Singaporean gal pals and hung out with them & Victoria in the evening before heading down for this Birthday bash.

After much mingling and chatting about with the other bloggers & guests for this event, we then did what we always do. A group shot of the early birds!
We had a free flow of drinks and more camwhoring before the night began with a big bang, literally! It was a parade of a musical gala that reminds me of a large school band.
Drums, cymbals and other percussion instruments filled the stage like a marching pandemonium! Totally got the ball rolling in high spirits… and that’s not all!
The introduction then followed through with a smooth transition of group dance acts and a very very synchronized choreography of street dances. Talk about the order! Bet they practised really hard for this
I could totally feel the energy in the room! They were bursting with zeal and my my, those moves really made them shake what their momma gave ’em.
The emcee was hyping up the crowd for the mo before more performances took to the stage. It’s time to bust the floor with some break beats!
What a start to the night of mayhem! After those rock-solid performances, the show finally began. Introducing the hosts for the party, MC Liang & Hunny Madu!
I’ve always thought Liang had a great knack of cracking up spontaneous jokes whereas Hunny, certainly has her own style & talents. (You’ll see why in a bit)
Anyhoozers, they began with some fun and games involving a dances, music and a wee bit of wacky moments! Thats gross stuff, for the lack of a better word. But what’s a party without getting it down and dirty?
ohmy. But they did win themselves prizes from ODM & Tropicana Life!
The DiGi Yellow Coverage Fellow was supposed to show an example of lap dancing with the gals in stage. But what I can conjure from the latter’s facial expressions is a WTF are they doing monkey-ing around?
But they did give very interesting lap dance routine!
More games ensued and while the other guests were up on stage busy playing with the chips <
span style="font-style: italic;">(given to us at the entrance), some of us were pretty much occupied with the drinks, partying and camwhoring away.
Don’t ask why I’m always on the right while camwhoring Perhaps my fingers were made to position themselves on the camera buttons like that.
Okay but now I’m not. How I wonder
Now, as I mentioned earlier on, I think our host for the night, Hunny Madu is gifted & a very unique individual. She’s not only a singer-songwriter but a radio announcer as well on Fly.Fm. Heck, she dances really well :
and her facial expressions during her dramatic mysterious performance was mind blowing. There was a performance with a very creepy song I remember which had her dressed all in white, while somewhat floating on the stage.
Soon after that, more fun & games took place with the use of helium balloons! The contestants were supposed to inhale (I was about to say Hydrogen wtf) Helium gas from the blown-up balloons and yell
“I Will Follow Youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu”
in the longest & squeakiest breath possible.
Funny what Helium gas can do to a person’s voice 🙂 Stuart Little overnight!
Joey G became our DJ of the night. He worked his magic fingers and spun techno/house/dance tracks that hyped up the dance floor all night long.
Eye Candy, no?
His infectious beats got us gurls up dancing on top of the huge-ass woofer speakers that pumped bass as strong and heavy as your eyelids in the morning. (well, mine.. yeah)
We danced like there was no tomorrow!
Can you feel the heat?
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ALL THE OCTOBER, NOVEMBER & DECEMBER BABIESONCE AGAIN!
Just watched the challenges of Maybelline-8TV’s Simply Fabulous New York all over again and was stuck to my lappy screen!
Remember my last introduction entry on each of the contestants & about this competition here? Anyhoozers, I can’t help laughing myself silly about how cute and comical the top 10 finalists all were at the 1st series of challenges!
So funny can die.
They had to prepare for that 1st series of challenge. What do you think they had to do?
Get their make up removed
And then choose their favorite shades of make up
Go gurls!
So what did they have to do? It’s hilarious. But then again, it’s no laughing matter. I’d like to see you getting your make up done IN FIVE MINUTES without a mirror! Muahahaha… I applaud these gals in fact.
Look ma, no mirrors!
Their only reflection is their partner in front of them to tell them whether they’ve made themselves up evenly or if there were any smears of eyeliners and mascaras. I know if I were to make myself up sans the mirror, I’d prolly end up looking like a failed court jester or a Chinese opera singer. ROFL
While the ladies were battling hard in their challenge, someone came back from SG & accompanied me at the studio!
ANYWAY Check out how they do it and watch it for yourselves : here I guarantee it will make u go.. ohmy *gasp*
Hmmm.. pretty good for a 5 minute session without a mirror!
Actually, they were just playin a fool with the gurls. The “challenge” which requires them to make up in 5 minutes WITHOUT a mirror was only an ice-breaker! 🙂 *phew*
Their real challenge was to re-create the Maybelline Simply Fabulous night-look in 15 minutes. And the winner was.. hmm.. very dramatic difference for a night out partying, very well done! Watch it for yourself to see who won 🙂
Camwhoring with Sasi the Don at the studio

How often do you have a treasure chest of goodies knocking at your door?
Not often– actually, not at all.
Courtesy of The Little Trinket Company, I was given some pretty little delights to gloat over for the rest of the night with my girlies! Knock knock came the mini black and gold treasure chest one evening.
Even my lil plushie wondered what it was
Let’s take a peek inside shall we? *rubs hands with glee*
Pretty lil imported charms combined with Swarovski Crystals!
And what else? Ooh, a letter sealed in a scarlet red envelope. Amazing how they really catch my eye with liberal splashes of red and white hues. Those colours always gets me going.
Let’s see what it has in store for me :
a Dear Blogger letter..awww!
I didn’t hesitate to grab em and put it on my lil makeshift studio at home for a lil shoot before I proudly wear it on my wrist. Don’t want the charm of my brand new charmbracelet to run out! (like it ever will?)
Let’s see why this charmbracelet represents me
handbagfor the shopaholic in me
trumpetfor the music freak i am
eiffel towerfor my soul to go a-travelling
silver wingsfor an iconic fraction of my tattoo
conversefor the street & ghetto chick I am
camerafor the photohunter in me
red Swarovski crystals fave colour, need I say more?
But all in all, my favorite pick would be the bronze Converse. My trusty ol pair of black converse has been with me since the high school days.
I never get tired of wearing them (a good remedy after nights & nights in killa high heels)
Oh my, now I know the purrr-fect thing to wear tomorrow for ma girls’ night out at Euphoria. Bet they will love them too 🙂 Who wouldn’t?
Charmbracelets are a major craze to girls lately That’s where The Little Trinket Company comes in. You’re gonna be spoilt for choice!
One thing I love about charmbracelets is that it is a representation of who you are, what you like/have always dreamed of, or even to carry a memory with you. Be it anything, I bet you will find the right charm!
I don’t mind choosing the charms with you online too! Let’s do some shopping together shall we?
I like to wear mine with the black bands I have on all the time
I’m pretty sure The Little Trinket Company will be every girl’s cuppa tea. No worries if you’re the rough-and-tough gal who beats the lads at arm wrestling though, there are also charms of a hand grenade and other boyish stuff.
So heads up gurls! Go crazy and choose them silly
*cough* Attention to the boys : this will make a really lovely gift for your girlfriends, wives, mommas, grandmommas (yes! the gramophone wtf), aunts, nieces, daughters, next door neighbour or whoever you deem will be just as delighted as I am.
Sorry been not updating for the past 3 days! Was awfully busy with the packing, unpacking & shifting into the new condo. If you’ve read my tweets you’d already know beforehand that I’m moving!
Anyhoozers, I attended an event recently by the Asian Food Channel (AFC) which features the award winning chef, Daniel Boulud. The event was aptly named
‘Daniel Boulud : One Night in Singapore’
We were given a special preview of the programme, which will premier on Tuesday 29th September 2009. Trust me, the show was exciting yet gives such a great insight on what that French Chef-Owner goes through buzzing about in his life.
Let’s take a look at the man himself.
From picking fresh ingredients all the way from its original habitat all the way to hustling and bustling about in the kitchen and even coaching his chef-students!
Before the show began however, I was intrigued by the settings of Neo Global Tapas & Luxe Lounge, atop Tamarind Hill. It totally gave me the feel of a pan-asian locality, some parts of it even reminded me of Siam!
Give me one darn good reason why I shouldn’t come back here for a delightful date atop a hill! I’d like to walk up to an appetite of fusion & international delights 🙂
However, this awesome-possum place was previously located in Ampang. It recently relocated and refurbished itself to what you see today and even hosted us during this AFC event.
About to climb to the top!
Finally got there!
Just as I was about to step inside, I couldn’t help but to shoot this tiny flame right above the makeshift pond. Really pretty!
There were 2 of them
Once I got in, the 1st thing that greeted me were the warm people from Alice George Comm. The staff from Neo served us guests a choice of Tamarind & Lemon Grass. I had 4 glasses of the latter! It was really a flavourful zing in that glass, I must say.
Met some familiar faces and proceeded to the al-fresco dining area where we were all mingling about with some appetizers right before the show began.
We were then served our appetizers. Didn’t know what the 2nd appetizer was called but I fancied that the most!
V-Neck waiter with the whatchamacallit
The whatchamacallit
Hian Goh, then came towards us – he’s the Managing Director of the Asian Food Channel, the 1st and only pan-regional 24 hour food TV channel in Asia. A really down to earth & friendly guy, methinks! 🙂
Oh and, he has an ‘angle’ while taking piccies too (inside joke)
I then walked about to do some lil exploring on my own
woo
Peeked at the chefs busy preparing our dinner
Before we knew it, it was time for the documentary to begin! We were seated down inside sans the popcorn to watch the 60 minute programme. He has cooked for President Obama, Kanye West, Jay-Z and so on 🙂
See it to feel it yourself on the AFC Fellow foodies and aspiring chefs would take a liking – I bet!
What else can I say? I loved it. It was full of suspense, dramatic and in-depth of the things that goes behind those kitchen doors to present us dish after dish of sumptous meals, of those we have in prestigious hotels.
Our dinners were inspired by Daniel Boulud’s recipies! Let’s grab a bite
Tuna Belly with veggies 🙂 Omg! The otoro was really strong with flavour
Loved the tender beef & those mad huge scallops
Dessert to end the day You’ll never go wrong w chocs & strawberries
We left when night fell – see how picturesque Neo, Tamarind Hill looks after the sun has set! Imma get my arse back here in no time. You betcha!
