Happy Halloween 2010! Of freaky pumpkin carvings, a Wasabi challenge & unlocking the Foursquare Spooky Swarm badge!

October 30, 2010 by thejessicat

Hey hey I'm still here! 😀

Yes eventhough my finals are what, 2 days away, I kinda still need to work my fingers and mind here for a bit and also to have you peeps still spellbound reading my verbal diarhoea all the time😀 Nyehehe. I kid!

So yes, already done with Journalism 2. International Studies will be on Tuesday, Media Culture Power next week and finally, Media Text 2 days after that.

AND I'D TASTE THE SCHWEEEEET SMELL OF FREEDOM!

for the time being.

Also, Happy Halloween to all of you freaks out there freakier than me 😛

Here is a freaky collection of pumpkin carvings which my mom forwarded to me. Just thought Imma share it with yall!

and my favorite one ever!

OBAMA OBAMAAAAA!

I guess the president extends his wishes too.

Happy Halloween America! 😀

SO YES, I SPENT MY HALLOWEEN STUDYING MY BRAIN OFF! T__T THANK YOU VERY MUCH THAT'S FREAKY ENOUGH OF A HALLOWEEN FOR ME. SIGH.

Oh and guess what!

In conjunction with Halloween, Foursquare has some awesome badges to be unlocked.

Check out the ones I've unlocked recently 🙂

Sigh. With all the hype, I guess this year is my 1st year stemming my streak of dressing up and partying down on All Hallows Eve.

Check out what I was up to during Halloween 2007, 2008 and 2009

Before I go, I will leave you with a video of my housekeeper challenging us to a Wasabi Challenge.

Apparently, she failed her own challenge LOL

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Om5vM_0mI7Y

Evidently, she's not having a good time 😛

But I'm sorry, you're really barking up the wrong tree. When it comes to anything spicy or hot, I rank first from the bottom.

It always takes me 5 seconds MAX before I end up having hot flushes, tears, runny nose and get soaking wet from perspiration 🙁 Even the help of ice-cold water and tissue paper is proven futile. T__T

ANYWAY

It's always funny how people are always so psyched planning their activities after exams even BEFORE exams begin. So anyways, here's a snippet of my to-do list after the academic hurdle of 2010 is over 😀

1. Zouk Out 2010 @ Sentosa, Singapore!

Tiesto, David Guetta and Afrojack, Top few DJs in the world will be partying with all of us in this 12 hour rave beach party.

I won't miss it for the world!

2. Dye back my hair red for the.. 9th time 😀

3. Meet up with my tattoo artist for another appointment

4. Holliieeee holliieee daaayyyy with the family

Yup yup, that's all I can manage to squeeze in before my attachment at The Star Newspaper begins 🙂

For my non-Malaysian readers, it's our #1 and leading English daily!

Just received my offer letter via fax yesterday and I just can't wait 😀 I will be joining The Star's R.AGE (youth) team by the end of next month. Say hello to day job again! I do hope it will be as challenging and interesting – if not better! – as my previous attachments 😀 Woots

So that's it. A very rare haphazard update – usually only happens when I'm busy to the core 😀

Okay back to revisions. Globalization and its Threat to the Nation-States and also The Rise of the Global Economy the topic for today. Bleargh. Dry. I know. And I also *honestly* don't see how it will remotely be of any relevance to my career in the future.

Trick or Treeeeat? 😀 Toodles!

Greetings from Kuantan!! Here to help facilitate The Star BRATs workshop Sept 2010

September 5, 2010 by thejessicat

Hey hey all! 😀

Yes, I'm in a land foreign to me. Though I ain't proud to say that I've never stepped foot in Kuantan, Pahang before (it's the largest state in Peninsular Malaysia) I am, in every sense of the word, a tourist in my own country this time round. 😀

But first, here's a pretty sight to see along the North-South highway en route to Pahang!

Yup, it was a faint rainbow somewhere in the distance

After a slight drizzle 😀

Being a first timer in Kuantan, one can't help but to stare in amazement at the HUGE street signs along the roads!

Prolly meant for the short sighted or elderly people. But then again, there can't be that much senior citizens in Kuantan to warrant them ALL huge signages, right? *ponders*

My point exactly.

I swear they are 3 times the size of normal road signs of all the other states of Malaysia!

And well, their moralistic roadsigns can mess up the minds of the guilty!

Translated from Bahasa Malaysia :

Don't you feel guilty? Throwing rubbish out of your vehicles?

So after settling down in the hotel with The Star R.AGE team, off we headed to Pak Su (Soon) Restaurant.

It's quite a popular foodie outlet for fresh and top-notch seafood! 😀

Don't exactly remember what we ordered, but there were definitely fish, crabs, prawns, bean curds, squids and so much more on the table!

Ian and I before the food arrived 😀

Ooohhhhhhh glorious baby coconuts!

Yes I know we can get them in any part of Malaysia, as they grow in abundance!

But STILL. 😛

Honestly, the pincers of that crab served was enormous 😀

So can you imagine the SIZE of the entire crustacean!?

After a hearty (and rather pricey) dinner, we all adjourned to Teluk Chempedak for some supper by the beach

Totally loved the concept of the McDonalds there!

Very homely and al-fresco style 😀

Beaches are love. Ain't it?

Strolling by the beach. But all alone? 😛

Prince charming, where art thou?

Camwhored a wee bit with the rest of the Senior BRATs 🙂

Leon and Andrea 😀

Jason and I

It was pretty good fun though! With the R.AGE team chillaxing by the beach, with sand in between our toes and enjoying the salty breeze blowing softly our way.

Guess this is all the relaxation we need before handling a bunch of BRATs (40 teenagers to be exact!!) for 4 days starting tomorrow morning.

Love my room though. It's spacious, comfy and has ample lighting!

Oh, and we bunked in at M.S Garden Hotel, Kuantan if you were wondering

Had a long day! We took them all around Kuantan to the fishing villages with salty Fish processing factories, batik making factories and Keropok Lekor production houses! For the non-Malaysians, those are the local delicacies and important heritages of Kuantan

But more of that soon okay? In the meantime, here's a lil sneak peak!

The group of hyperactive and inquisitive BRATs which I accompanied to the Batik making factory

Check out their batik print  – the BRATs logo!
