A Mother’s Day special edition + celebrating with my 3 superwomen at Marianis Italian Ristorante @ De Garden, Ipoh!

May 12, 2014 by thejessicat

They say people born with the Cancer star sign are usually known to be very homely and close to the family. What do you think?

I reckon I am relatively family-oriented. So I guess it’s partly true?

Perhaps it is evident considering the fact that I’ve already flown to Penang just last weekend to visit mom and dad.

But here I am again catching the next train straight to Ipoh to spend time with the (extended) family for Mother’s Day.

Outfit shot! Mother’s Day dinner celebration with themumsie.

Like mother like daughter, don’tcha think? Wink

Hello! 😀 Took some selfies en route to the restaurant too. Heh!

I mean.. come on, who wouldn’t spend Mother’s Day with their mothers if they can help it?

I have three (actually four, including our long-serving maid!) very important Superwomen in my life. I wouldn’t dream of spending Mother’s Day without them!

L-R: The Mom – Grandmom – Godmom – Not a mom.

We made a dinner reservation for five at Ipoh’s latest establishment which boasts a concept of classy, fine Italian dining.

Being the blogger that I am, Marianis Italian Ristorante piqued my interest as small town Ipoh hosts only a small handful of exquisite eateries. I was way too excited to see what this new kid on the block has to offer! Laughing

The facade.

As we stepped in, I could tell that I liked the interior decor in an instant.

The well-decorated, spacious and chandelier-lit restaurant had a very baroque-meets-modern feel to it.

There were ample, beautiful seating catering to the different preferences of its patrons.

Lounge sofas, bar top tables, proper sit-down dining, high stools, long tables for large groups, al-fresco and more.

Note to smokers: There are two smoking zones in Marianis.

The open-aired front (pictured above) and the back (pictured below).

We chose the regular dining table as granny wouldn’t be comfortable slouching on a sofa.

(It’s bad for her back if she did!)

Food-wise, I was impressed with their menu and how the menu physically looked.

They were immensely thick and protected by faux leather, all neatly arranged on shelves which reminded me of novels by the likes of J.K Rowling and J.R.R Tolkien the way you would recognize in an instant, on a library bookcase.

The menu featured tapas, appetizers, soups, salads, Focaccias, pasta, main entres, pizzas, dessert and a wide range of alcholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Smile

Had some fun with the camera while waiting for our food to arrive.

Smile! Let’s get some Mother’s Day snaps rolling in! Cool

Check out some of the dishes we ravished.

From the Marianis Antipasti (Marianis Appetizers) line-up, we selected:

Calamari Fritti

They were very succulent pieces of fresh squid coated in special batter, deep fried to perfection and served with tartar sauce.

Melanzana Griglia

Fresh eggplant grilled in olive oil.

The dish came extremely and unbearably (rock) salty and after all of us had our first bite, we requested for a change.

When it was served for the second time, it was perfect!

Ice-cold beer!

Occasional sips of alcohol did no one any harm!

(Who am I kidding?) 😛 😛 😛

However I was very disappointed with my cappuccino.

As a heavy coffee drinker (4 cups of cappuccino from various cafes daily), it was the first time I’ve ever tasted coffee like this. Undecided

It was bland and had a strange twang to it. Perhaps the ratio of coffee to milk was a bit off?

Trancia Di Cod

The grilled fillet of cod fish served with sun-dried tomato sauce was a sure winner.

It was absolutely delicious!

Filetto Eye of Sirloin! (Forgot to take down its exact name)

Granny and I loved this to the very last bite.

Cross section of the steak. We ordered it medium well and it was perfectly executed.

The cut was very succulent, bursting with flavour at just the right tenderness. Yum!

Focaccia Marianis

This dish however, failed to impress.

The Focaccia bread was very limp and all its ingredients were served cold.

It came sandwiched in lettuce, sliced tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and mushroom sauce, but surely the grilled chicken breast (and the bread) ought to be served hot or warm at least?

Pizza! Alla Salmone

This thin-crust pizza featured smoked salmon, capers and cheese.

Each slice was delicious and crispy!

For desserts, I asked for a recommendation and the waiter suggested this.

It surely did not disappoint! Smile

Tortino al Cioccolato

Chocolate brownies with a scoop of ice-cream. Very, very tasty – thumbs up!

Ironically, this dessert hardly had the texture nor consistency of a ‘brownie’, as it was named.

Perhaps it would be more apt if it was renamed a chocolate lava cake in my opinion.

We took lots of photos around Marianis’ vicinity – how could we not? Big Smile

The ambience was to die for and the lighting proved just right for picture-perfect moments.

Overall, I would say it was a relatively pleasant dining experience except for the few aforementioned glitches in the food. Smile I would recommend Marianis to anyone, unless you are a harsh food critic or an experienced food reviewer too.

Plus points: the environment was lovely, while the waiting staff were friendly and accommodating.

The price tag on the food, however, was a little on the pricey side for Ipoh standards. Nothing too exorbitant but just a tad more expensive in comparison. Nevertheless, I’ll definitely be back for the Stinco d’ Agnello al Forno (Lamb Shank) and the Beef Short Ribs!

I wouldnt label it a fine-dining place though; but more towards a very nice, upscale restaurant that you definitely wouldn’t want to wear your bermudas nor slippers in.

Perfect for romantic dates, birthdays, anniversaries and family gatherings. Cool

Just put your best foot forward without the extent of dressing to the nines!

Happy Mother’s Day to all the marvellous moms out there, especially mine.

No one receives any training to be a mother, but you sure as ever did a fantastic job raising me – armed with the right morals, the right principles, the right amount of discipline yet with tender loving care.

I couldn’t have done it any better.

Here’s a shout out for the hot mamas, grandmothers, great-grandmothers, godmothers, aunts, nannies, guardians, babysitters and if you’re some sort of a maternal figure to someone, all my love goes out to you too!

Give yourself a pat on the back for a job well done! Hey, it isn’t easy raising a child, let alone children! SurprisedSurprised

Also, shout outs to my circle of girl friends who have just turned mothers themselves; celebrating their first or second Mother’s Day with their newborns and toddlers.

Seeing you girls already being dedicated, proud mums to your bundle of joy (read: screaming infants) kinda makes me think what I’m doing with my life.

You are all busy bearing children while here I am busy with my career, partying really hard and training for a set of rock solid abs. I’m starting to get the feeling that something must not be quite right here LOL Yell

Life is still one big party for me. Maybe I’m just a late bloomer and prefer to maximize my youth before I move on to later stages in life. *shrugs*

So granny (and mom) stop pestering/hinting for a kid now – I’m far from ready.

Oh wait… now that I think about it, scratch that.

Happy Mother’s Day to me as well! *cheers*

I am a mother too you know, to my two year old son – my furkid Chivas.

Being a mommy to him isn’t easy as well. He doesn’t just sit there and look pretty.

He eats, he excretes (a lot), he gets tangled, he smells.

He bugs me for food and water but spills everything all over the floor.

He wails for attention, he distracts me from my work and he wants to play.

He makes my fabric sofa and furniture look like an aftermath of a zombie apocalypse.

He walks all over me when I sleep.

He bites, he scratches, he slaps my face with his bushy tail.

He cries to be let into the bedroom, but begs to get out the next minute.

He clings to the  outside of the window railings and gives me a heart attack.

He jumps into bed with me for cuddles but struggles away after a second of cuddling.

He slashes me with his Wolverine claws during shower time.

He pukes out hairballs in the middle of the living room floor for me to clean up after.

He walks all over my keyboard and has accidentally composed and replied emails in gibberish.

(Dear recipient, I am not drunk. That was just my cat, I kid you not) Yell

But despite it all, I love him unconditionally as I am after all, his one and only mother.

For the mere sound of his soft meows and purrs at the front door greeting me the moment I come home, instantly makes every drop of sweat, effort, time and money worth the world.

I love you, son.

And regardless of your super high-and-mighty, pampered I-am-the-King-of-the-universe attitude (yes yes, I know you are a pure-bred cat but that doesn’t mean you can play nasty with the other kids), I will still defend and adore you to heaven and back.

Throwback: Mommycat and Babycat on the first day I brought him home as a kitten.

My little boy all grown up. Like mother like son?

I miss him! He’s currently staying with theJaanu as I have been away for several weekends back in Penang. Thank you dearest, for babysitting my son in my absence! x

This concludes the Mother’s Day special edition.

Happy Mother’s Day again from Jessicat and Babycat!

The Sunday Times XXXIII: Sights, sounds, thoughts, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

July 28, 2013 by thejessicat

Hi loves! Gosh, the past seven days has been such a busy week for me.

I just realized that it's been exactly a week since I've last blogged. Sorry for the absence!

Anyway, I've just got home from a long weekend of work and holiday in Ipoh.

Yeah it's a public holiday again, one of the best things about living in Malaysia, eh? Public holidays come in abundance haha! This time, it's Nuzul Al-Quran, a religious occasion commemorated by Muslims.

Yes, babyChivas, mommy's home.

Have you been a good boy while I was gone? smiley

So… let's get on with what made my week this time round. cool

Was requested to record a video for someone special for her birthday.

I hope you're not reading this because it'll spoil the surprise, I suppose LOL cheeky

Did my charity work for the week. This time, it's for Pathway 2 Society.

A non-profit effort to reintegrate ex-offenders/ex-convicts/ex-juveniles

into society by giving them a second chance at life. Check them out! yes

Had a pretty refreshing dip by the poolside.

Random photo on the way for my training at gym!

Those guns are ready to cry!

Another thing that made my week were smoothies.

Ahhhh yes, fruit and veggie smoothies! Can't live without them yes

This week's post-workout meals:

Seven nut muesli with green apples, milk and cinnamon

Organic cellentani with brocolli, garbanzo beans, egg white scramble and flax.

Wholewheat bread with peanut butter, almonds and garbanzo beans!

Organic wholewheat fusili tossed with zucchini, olive oil, carrots and flax.

Oven-baked salmon with diced potatoes, capsicums, egg-white scramble and garden peas

Stir-fried carrots, spinach, aubergine and chicken chunks

Peruvie Peruvian Grilled Chicken @ TTDI

★★★★★

Loved it. It gave me a good bang for my buck. Delicious and cheap!

Full blog feature soon.

My furkid Chivas always steals my cushion. Perhaps I should get him an actual pet bed of his own?

But then again, he sleeps and lounges about practically EVERYWHERE. surprise

Aku rasa, usahlah membelikannya tempat istirahat sendiri dah.

Oh since my cat seems to be very popular now, I figured you might wanna watch his antics for yourself

Weekends are best for your trusty ol' kicks, no?

I love my worn-down sneakers, the Chuck Taylor Converse All Star high tops.

Weekend outfit of the day with granny. heart

I wish I was a stoic as she is. Her pokerface sends me chills down my spine.

Restoran Fai Kee @ Ipoh

★★★★☆

We had brunch here. A very popular place among the locals for noodles of pork, fish and drunken prawn.

I was overjoyed when I found my favorite Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) machine

tucked away in an arcade in Ipoh Parade called 'Molly Fantasy'.

12 rounds back-to-back came as no surprise. I was sweating buckets and panting rather audibly

up till a point where the people around me probably thought I was down with an incurable disease. Erk. blush

The Limestone's Fine Dining Restaurant @ Regal Lodge Hotel

★★☆☆☆

Saturday lunchdate. The place was nothing to shout about. And… really? Fine Dining? Not to me.

Full blog feature soon!

Random video after returning home from a long day.

Jul 25, 2013 | Nighty night!! ❤ by imthejessicat on Keek.com

Packed my gear and dressed professionally the next day for a heavy responsibility of shooting a wedding.

While the thought of holy matrimony has always been the last thing on my mind for the longest time, undertaking this task of shooting a wedding and making sure every memorable moment is recorded made me realize a few things that I've probably never thought of.

Prior to this, I've never really seen weddings in this light nor have I envisioned how beautiful a wedding can be.

Biar benar, begitu indah menyaksikan akad nikah mereka sehingga hampir menitis air mata! crying

Stole a quick selfie in the bridal chamber before I began the shoot

at Kinta Riverfront Hotel & Suites, Ipoh

With the stunning couple. Congratulations, Soon and Shirly! laugh

The very look on the bride and groom's faces, the merriment that filled the wedding reception, the congregration of old friends and long-lost family members coming together to celebrate a wonderful union, the expressions of both young and old, the nostalgia rising from speeches and presentations, the picture-perfect wedding photographs, the grand ballroom, the decorations, the wedding cake… and the whole celebratory shebang. heart

Wow. Guess I've never looked at it this way before.

One day, just.. maybe someday, I'll be a beautiful, blushing bride walking down the aisle in my gorgeous white gown, complete with a delicate veil and bridal train cascading behind me.

But it all seems so far away as we speak.

I've not even found my Mr. Right yet (No, I'm not looking for the time being!). Who will I end up spending the rest of my life with? Who will I end up growing old with? Could it be you? I'll never know. blush

Walaupun aku tidak mencari pasangan buat masa ini, tidak salah jikalau aku bicara bahawa aku masih menunggu jodoh, kan?

On another serious note, I've been busy with very important and legal papers this week.

Many were quick to assume when I posted it on my Facebook and Instagram but no, it's not a marriage registration.

Some of you have already accurately guessed but I'll only officially reveal and blog all about it when the time is right.

The end of the long weekend is over and so are the parties.

The long weekend was a perfect respite from the city. But for now, work beckons once again.

WIll be back in office tomorrow!  Have a great seven days ahead, you. cool

Much love,

kissJessicat

Flashback: Celebrating Chinese New Year 2013. Hiss hiss. My zodiac year of the snake!

July 11, 2013 by thejessicat

Today's post is all about the celebration, the culture and the family amidst the Chinese New Year festivity.

Uh-huh. Though I'm fully aware that we've already come to the middle of the year, I'm adamant on posting this despite being half a year late!

Because it's MY YEAR. wink

Ever since the inception of this blog, it has since became imperative for me to write something about Chinese New Year (CNY), every year without fail. Ergo, I can't and won't let this year go by without a word – especially since it's my own zodiac year!

This is also especially for some of my family members and close family friends who have been waiting for this post and non-local readers who wanted to see how I celebrated my CNY. Sorry I'm late! crying

So bear with me while I (try) to VERY briefly write and characterize my CNY 2013 as succinctly as I can.

Mandarin Oranges.

Angpows.

Chinese New Year cookies – pity they only come once a year, right? frown

MORE CHINESE NEW YEAR SNACKS.

GONG XI FA CHAI! First day of Chinese New Year.

The Lion Dance troupe performing in the middle of the night just outside my house.

The Lion Dance troupe up close

Standing by the CNY decorations at the foyer of my home.

Ladies helping out and making preparations for our family steamboat dinner!

(while daddy does the prayer stuff and takes a nap LOL)

Steamboat dinner with my immediate family.

The smallest of what a family can comprise is what we have always been. Granted, we are a close-knit one!

Shall we cue the happy family pictures already? heart

Mom, dad and I makes the family I'm speaking of heart

Hugs galore!

The man of the house, Mr. Daddy and his bitches girls.

After our family steamboat dinner, we had relatives come over.

I went visiting my buddies next day!

With Mr. BFF Vincent!

Annual CNY gathering with the buddies

Boo!

Cue the Jagerbombs and CNY gambling!

After the alcohol kicked in LOL

Random selfie while I took a break from gambling with the boys.

Mom and I grabbing a quick breakfast the next day

Brought out babyChivas

Jumped into the car.

Roadtrip time! Guess where we are going?

Two hours down south, we arrived Ipoh. Look who greeted us happily! wink

My dearest popoh giving me my angpows!

Why does she look more excited than I am?

Lion Dance troupe invasion!!!

Our (very brown) lunch.

Trust me, it tasted ten times better than it looks! cheeky

A compulsory photo with the God of Prosperity plushie

and a bowl of ancient money from China.

Hello smiley

Three generations: Popoh, mom and I.

The fourth one will have to wait, okay? Uh-huh. No pressure alright. *rolls eyes*

En route to the big reunion dinner with the extended family!

Headed to one of our favorite Chinese restaurants in town, Restoran Kok Thai!

All decorated for a night of family Chinese banquet dinners!

Camlovin' with Uncle Mikey.

With the (fairy) godmother and popoh

This one is a prized photo with the cousin, as it is one of the

rare photos we snap together whilst not drunk/in a club/at a party/at a rave.

Mommy dearest and Uncle Mikey

I think I must've spread the love for camwhoring to her. Whoooops!

With Auntie Karen and Uncle Philip

With the two sisters – granny and grand aunt.

I think this should be a foresight of how I would look 50 years later?

And it begins! The Chinese tradition of to lou our yee-sang.

(For my non-Chinese readers, it means to toss this dish about haphazardly as a symbol of prosperity)

I know right, us Chinese are all about being prosperous LOL

Just some traditional Chinese dishes in our 8-course dinner:

Braised cerbal chicken with mushrooms

Steamed brocolli, scallops and mushrooms

Mom, couzie Shaun and I helping ourselves to the dish

Pork Trotters with dumplings

GIGANTIC steamed prawns!

Cue the red wine.

Kochabi – a traditional local Chinese dessert (a very frozen ice-cream texture)

which means 'the taste of old times' in literal translation.

We entertained ourselves to fireworks and firecrackers at night

I had my fair share of fun too!

Mom and I flanking kakak heart

Cue more alcohol. Yummy.

Thanks Uncle Mike, for this lovely photo!

I wish I didn't look so drunk though. indecision

Traditional Chinese mah-jong with the family

Third day of Chinese New Year. We went avisiting more friends and family!

More yee-sang and more homecooked meals. All thanks to granny and kakak, the masterchefs!

Time to toss it like a savage and ravage it like the last yee-sang on the phase of earth!

Hi again. Off to another reunion dinner

Came home bursting at my sides to this handsome furkid of mine on the bed

Couldn't help it. You'd be tempted to camwhore with this fluffy ball of love too.

After all the festivities with the family and friends back home is all over, it was time to head back to the city.

Despite having15 days of Chinese New Year, work beckons! I returned to the office on the 5th day of CNY.

The lion dance troup invading our office!

With the colleagues

At night, we headed off for our company's Chinese New Year dinner!

Baked cereal prawns

Steamed grouper fish

Baked chili crabs!

'nuff said.

And yes, you guessed it. Yee-sang again.

A quick shot before making a giant mess of the yee-sang!

I think I'm pretty good at this already LOL.

With my pretty girls, Carmen and Sheena.

I think that wraps up my Chinese New Year 2013. cool

Was that brief enough? Hahaha. Better a simple post than completely forgetting to have this up.

So what do you really like about CNY?

Just like every year, Chinese New Year consists of five most important F WORDs for me.surprise

Don't jump to conclusions just yet. Why F WORDs, you ask? They are:

FAMILY.

FRIENDS.

FOOD.

FLAMING FORMULAS.

FORTUNE.

There you have it. You can stop bugging me for Chinese New Year photos now hahaha.

Sorry for the tardiness, though! frown

But this FORTUNE a.k.a angbao only applies if you are still single. YIPPEE! laugh

The married ones ain't gettin' nothing!

The Sunday Times XXVI: Sights, sounds, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

June 2, 2013 by thejessicat

Oh hey! It's the month of June already.

If you ask me, this year flew by really swiftly. Before I knew it, we're already almost halfway into the year 2013.

Where did all the time go?

Hmmm… maybe getting starting my new job made me feel like time had fleeted by so fast.

Cold days at work. When the advertising industry debilitates me whole by the end of the day, all I can do is to curl up with my fave mug of hot chocolate

As keeping busy takes up most of my time, my days aren't as dreary and long as it would probably feel if I were to be jobless or bored at home with absolutely nothing to do. To be honest, I do miss being bored sometimes.

I could only wish for more hours in my day. blush

My life is so fast-paced, especially this year, that I don't even have the time to feel bored anymore!

Ahhh, wishful thinking at best.

Anyway, this week was relatively mundane with a sprinkle of colour towards the weekend. Okay, recap! wink

Daily trainings and awesome post-workout meals.

It was upper body: chest, shoulders, back and arm day

Made organic fusilli pasta bake with honey glazed eggplant, carrots & tomato,

tossed with grapeseed oil, basil and cottage cheese.

Rolled wholegrain oats with soy milk, banana slices and golden kiwi

Organic brown rice with chicken chunks, button mushrooms & flax seeds,

steamed in spring onion, garlic-ginger-onion-herb paste made from scratch!

Tonight's outfit of the day.

Was invited to Longchamp Paris' Exclusive Preview of their Fall/Winter collection.

Randomly, just randomly, I'm vaguely aware of how my sense of dressing has mellowed so much. Ugh.

Although sexy tops, tight skirts, mini dresses and belly bearing tops still appeal to me, I noticed a paradigm shift in my taste in clothing as of late – probably since the beginning of the year. I have to admit, this "change" scares me a little.

I think this means I'm succumbing to the ravages of time and age. OH NO.

Nowadays, classy high-cut tops, demure outfits, long dresses, classic, elegant pieces and the corporate OL (office lady) look strikes my fancy. Umm. really Jess, since when?

What happened to that wild, partygirl look you often portray? surprise

Date night out in the city. We chose El Cerdo KL Spanish Restaurant, Changkat Bukit Bintang

We had tapas. Gambas Al AjilloCalamares (above) and A La Plancha (below)

Loved its freshness and mild but delightful flavours!

We also met up with some friends for a bit of Wednesday night partying

One person is missing from the picture! I guess I'll have to photoshop bestiePam's head in LOL

Bumped into an old friend, Anu, from Penang!

We were squash players back in high school

Excuse my vanity. I don't usually have the time to doll up laugh

Take two.

I have a new addition to my arsenal of gadgets now. Say hello to my new sexy white thing.

The SAMSUNG Galaxy Camera heart

Fancy some cat pictures for the start of the week?

What you are about to see is my furkid, Chivas, in compromising positions cheeky

The weekends finally loomed closer; about time it did!

Friday night saw me packing my bags and heading up to Ipoh to spend some time with the family for the weekend.

We had a sumptous family feast. Japanese dinner at

Zento Sushi @ Festival Walk which left us full to the brim and beyond satisfied.

Full blog feature/review coming soon!

Being away for the weekend didn't deter me from carrying out my routines.

Here's a makeshift circuit I did at the porch of my home.

Oh, this Ipoh trip marked my first time boarding the Electric Train Service (ETS) from KL Sentral Railway Station.

I came to a conclusion that I didn't want to drive two hours to Ipoh and another two hours back. I just can't be bothered, really.

The train ride was incredibly smooth and gave me a pleasant experience!

It was punctual – arriving on the dot! yes

The carriages/coaches were clean, spacious, comfortable and had on-board entertainment (hurray for Mr. Bean!) to boot.

Instead of spending a taxing two hours squinting into the distance when I drive at night and speeding (being me, admittedly) down the highway at 140km/h, all I had to do was to get to the railway station, board the train, pop up my laptop and do my work or leisure for the entire two hours.

Arriving with zero stress.

Sounds like a much better option, no doubt! yes

Thumbs up to Malaysian public transportation!

Architecture-wise, I was pretty impressed by how the railway station looked.

Fringing the railway tracks were high-rise horseshoe and orgee arches plastered in white. It had this British heritage look and feel to it.

You know the concept of crisp-looking whitewashed buildings of moorish designs, pairs of columned porches, symmetrical windows flanking the main, arched entrances?

Yeah the whole train station boasted that entire notion; and I loved it.

It felt as though I was stepping out of the Hogwarts Express train into London's King's Cross railway station.

Before I got too carried away in my reverie, I stopped myself from running into the wall in hopes of traversing into a secret, hidden platform to Hogwarts HAHAHA.

I'm deluded like that.

On our way to the Ipoh Railway Station

Farewell, Ipoh Railway Station. I'll be back!

The sunset on the way back was breathtaking

This photo does no justice to the deep vermillion, purple and crimson hues that illuminated the evening sky

Theboyf and I decided to pig out and grab some Mexican cuisine for dinner upon arriving KL.

Actually, it was his idea. We were starving by the time we arrived the city.

Chilis Grill & Bar Restaurant, Bangsar Shopping Centre

The Chicken Club Tacos were superb!

Wrapped inside the tacos were grilled mesquite chicken breast, ancho-chile ranch dressing, diced tomatoes, mixed cheeses and lettuce served with chopped beef bacon and black beans.yes

Eating it left me wanting more. It came so juicy, the chicken was tender and it was a perfect burst of Tex-Mex flavour with every bite.

We also tried their new starter, the Spinach Queso.

Those tostada chips were warm and crisp, to be dipped into a spinach-cheese dip and house-made salsa. Just heavenly! yes

So that's a wrap! Here's to hoping your weekend was just as eventful as mine.

Have a good seven days ahead heart

I'm going to leave you with a song that's been stuck in my head for as long as ever. Sharing is caring wink

Much love,

kissJessicat

The Sunday Times XIX: Sights, sounds, adventures & eats! My week in a flash ♥

January 27, 2013 by thejessicat

Hello hello folks!

Sorry for not updating for a while, I was relatively busy with keeping busy, going out heaps with buddies, family and also traveling the Penang-Ipoh-KL routes several times back and forth.

One of those journeys in the car

Today will be a quick post. My laptop ran outta juice and I've left the charger somewhere in Penang.;(

Will blog a proper one soon; am using someone else's laptop now.

Anyway, here's what I've been up to for the past week!

Bid farewell to the other half and sent him off.

He'll be back in Australia for two months!

Had dinner at Pasta Zanmai with buddy Vincent

Highly recommended: Unagi Roll, Smoked Salmon Pizza

& Teriyaki Chicken Spaghetti

My Mr.BFF – Buddy Vincent and I!

9 years of friendship & counting :D

It was nightfall. I soon set off to GEO's cafe in Sri Hartamas for a hang out and catch-up session with my Aussiemate, Aaron.

He was down in Malaysia for a week!

Shisha take one!

Shisha take two!

My kakis for the night

T'was a splendid session! We had various conversations about almost everything under the sun.

Learnt so much especially about our different and highly contradicting perspectives. We ended it with more karaoke and chats thereafter.

Spotted an epic Superman bike one afternoon

On the road again!

This fortnight's simple nail art I did :D

(Why does my hand look so wrinkly in this photo OMG!)

Arrived my folk's place in Ipoh!

Remember Penny? Say hi!

Salmon Sashimi at Sushi King with the family

Did some work over a cuppa Cafe Mocha at Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf!

Had dinner with Mr. BFF at one of my fave European dining spots ever-

at Indulgence Restaurant & Living!

We had chicken and two pots of tea before heading out for the night.

I didn't have the time for an OOTD shot so this will have to do!

Beer towers of Strongbow Cider!

The night ensued at Bricks & Barrels Gastrobar and Beer Garden, Ipoh with the rest.

It was a memorable night of friendship, reminiscence, drinkies, truth or dare and silly challenges. We made the most of that night like we're gonna die young.

(Yes, I know it's a Kesha song)

My flaming shot – Chocolate Fire! A superb mix of Kahlua, Baileys & Rum

Take my hand, I'll show you the wild side

The morning after felt like my head traversed into an epic wreckage.

Ahhh… hangovers. How I miss thee.

That didn't stop me from making a trip back to Penang later that day.

But going back means having to be apart from my babyChivas (My father, being the only person in the whole world who doesn't like babyChivas):/

So I bid adieu to my babyboy. Mr.BFF took over & babysat him while I was away!

Thank you so much!

Being back in Penang, I was able to catch my Aussiemate Carly who was down for her honeymoon.

Just being girls at Austin Chase @ Queensbay Mall

Our afternoon of catching up over food, shopping, coffee, gossip, taking photos, long conversations were plenty fun! :D

So glad we managed to catch each other this trip.

Oh by the way, since I'm always posting decent photos of myself, here's an ugly photo to balance the ratio up a little LOLOL

So candid! I reckon I was expressing my disgust at something.

Found that picture so unglam yet hilarious at the same time haha!

Headed back home for some kick-ass sessions at the gym

Just part of today's routine, among others

My following week will be spent in Penang, leading up to Chinese New Year.

Being back made me realize how much I miss being in the comfort of my own home I grew up in. Being with the family, having regular home-cooked meals, not having to do my own laundry nor dishes, not having to pay rent.

But on the plus side, I appreciate the freedom and independence that comes with living away from home. I guess you can't have the best of both worlds, huh.

By the end of the week, Mr.BFF came over to Penang and brought me back my son!

Reunited with my boy again made me so happy.

I hope your god daddy has been treating you well!

Here's my current earworm that I relate very well to. Love the music video the most!

Song of the week:

httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0IZgpyeJ7U4

NERVO & Hook N Sling – Reason

Here's wishing you a great seven days ahead! :D

More to come soon, once I get my laptop charger back

Much love,

Jessicat
