Wasabi makes your mind boomboom

April 12, 2008 by thejessicat
It’s Aji Noren for us all!

Japanese food doesn’t come cheap, so it was shocking as to why we chose this restaurant for our dinner. Well, it was no difference whether or not it was owned by Rach’s uncle because he didn’t give us a discount – at all!
Although we were sitting in a very awkward manner due to the pitless dining area, it all went swell.

Yet again, my Unagi Kabayaki –

It’s a personal favorite!

And the crunchy wefwfrnjkrnjfsafi-maki maki temaki lelaki or teriyaki I ordered (I can never get the name right so I randomly rammed on the keyboard) came in such a cute presentation.

When ultimate blurness arises, don’t mistake those pink slices on the right as salmon. =/ I did the last time and it tasted horrid. Truth be told, it turned out tasting like mutilated ginger. Maybe that’s what it probably is? Share some light, for those who knows Japanese food at their fingertips =) Thankeww

Rach and I

All went well until I accidentally bit into the deadly Wasabi. That offending green paste of doom! Gavin made fun of me and I challenged him to eat an insane amount of it and guess what? He was sporting enough to do it – with challengers KX and Rach, of course. They stuffed the tiny sushi with loads and loads of Wasabi and the mere sight of it simply appalls me! =0

Oh yes, looking all so confident? The game’s just ABOUT to begin!

Aladdin’s Cave of Wonders

Oh yes, now that’s better. This ain’t no reality tv, these are the after effects of downing a Wasabi-filled sushi.

Gav is sucha sport. =)

So who was the winner? I certainly have no idea for I do not take interest in such bizzare and painstaking challenges =P My rough guess would be…. KX??

After the fire was extinguished from their throats, we chatted about nonsense including.. umm.. ‘hair’. Note that it’s very vague when I mention that word, so you can prolly guess what revolting topics came up and including which person in question. Alright, no more enigma for now so okbuhbye

We crashed into Gav’s crib this time and looked around for something to entertain us. Someone has to be the laughing stock so we turned Gav’s chef hat into an underwear for Superman

Wasabi made them hyper and so we fooled around with Gav’s chef hat in the pursuit of looking more domesticated. Those are cookbooks f.y.i =)

Next, we locked Gav & Rach in the room on purpose for no reason. Such meanies?

no.

When everyone got tired of this annoying game, we hit the dimes. It’s gambletime!

I was the winner *ahem* for Chor Tai Tee twice consecutively and only once for Poker. KX is the man when it comes to gambling… God of Gamblers. And Gav? Noobie as usual XP

We worship this noobie, unfortunately.
Look, there is even a statue of him for us to sing our praises to!

Food fetish?

April 11, 2008 by thejessicat

What a fulfilling day for my tummy, it was practically filled to the brim the whole day. As lovely Thursday comes, my schedule is packed with activities with tha pals. =) Gosh, I’m lovin’ this semester – off day every Thursday!

First up, brunch with my gurl Nadiah at Chilis!! Woots.. lovin the chicken crispus. (Is this how you spell it Nads?) As ya’ll know, the portions served at Chilis are all American helpings; an overload for the Asian stomach like that of ours. So, we had some to-go. Soon after, we hung out at the Chilis bar for a while and had some idle chat with the bartender..

sadly it was a Chilis policy not to allow them to flare. Like, wtf right? Which bartender is restricted to flare??? =/ *potong stim*

The next meal was like no other – ridiculously silly and fun! Muahaha. Sushi King had this Sushi bonanza for its members where everything (yeah right) was priced at 2bucks.

I finally had my Unagi Kabayaki (at normal price sadly)

My bestie Joyce & my boo got their *i-don’t-know-what-it’s-called-but-it-sure-looks-yummy* prawn & squid thingy.

Unfortunately, we ate and ate but didn’t read the terms & conditions which states:

ALL FOOD WASTAGE WILL BE CHARGED AT NORMAL PRICE.

I stared in horror at what was in front of me…

Oh shyt!@#$%^&*

I regretted not consuming the rice!
I wasn’t the only one – Joyce too had some leftovers.

What were we to do? Eat back all the rice as it is?

And dubby refused to help eat the rice clumps! Arghhhhh…

Like, EWW. I for one, am not a person who eats rice so it was beyond me as to how I could force those grains of sticky rice down my throat. Hence, we freaked out and not wanting to pay the unnecessary extras, we attempted numerous ways to conceal/hide/throw/camouflage the remaining rice – and trust me, you wouldn’t wanna know how we did it =P (right Joyz? lawl)

Now you see it, now you don’t!

Haha…… Anyhow, we managed to escape the extra charges using the ‘smart’ way of pulling strings with dear Mahendra oh Mahendra XP
After all the naughty tricks, the Sushi bonanza did put a rice smile on our sushi-craved faces in the end!

Happy ricework by Jess&Joyce

Food makes them go?

April 8, 2008 by thejessicat

Food is so important, is it not? It can be capable of many things.. as you shall see *grins*

The same canteen food everyday makes a person bored

Food can exasperate a person if it comes too late

Food can make perverts think of what he did last night

Food makes people the ultimate glutton

Oh yes, don’t forget : Drinks are well after food
(IN HIS CASE, RAW EGG YOLK IN A CUP)

It can make a person hyper to steal the greedy person’s food =)

Oh well, it can wreck a person’s day if she’s hungry (yes, you buddy) *winks* and hunger can make a person scavenge for leftover food

Yes, Drea.. however awkward that lunch was, however slow the speed of service was, however spicy the beehoon was or however inefficient the waitress was, however late we were…. it was still at least a breaktime! Imagine going through 6hours of non-stop classes. =/

The portion was insanely huge and extremely spicy. MADNESS! My poor buddy had to endure the long 1-hour wait for this rubbish. It really got her all worked up; it will too if I was in her shoes. =( I now have a bad impression of that place!!

But somehow, someone else seemed to enjoy the leftover food when no one was looking! It was when everyone left, that this peculiar behavior of his, came into action.

Oh well, thats our Alvin Dan for you! =)

Oh yes. Food is the answer to all

Speaking of which, Sushi King is having their member’s only week already!! Woo-hoo! In fact, I think I might just go for some sushi with Dubby after our movie tonight

*cheers* for the lo
ve of food~!!!!

one home, two to go!

March 27, 2008 by thejessicat

Doing the honours of sending people to the airport really sucks.

Reason being, you have to be the one to send them off and seeing their bags checked, their tickets prepared and the worst part? Seeing them walk off, dragging their luggage behind them to a section that you can’t have access to.

And before you know it, this means goodbye.

You smile but beneath you is a wave of pain.

10 days have passed and finally bestie Rachel is back with us last night! I didn’t feel the pain as much when I sent Uncle Tenny off. Because very coincidentally, Rach’s return flight & Unc Tenny’s leave flight were the same night and almost the same time.
So it was like a parting and a welcoming in return. =)

This doesn’t only apply for flights in airports – bus stations as well. Instead of the leaver walking into a ‘flight-attendees only’ section, the leaver is on the bus exchanging farewell glances with you.

The butts of those two asses are still away from us.
Sheesh. =/

As the folks were still around last nite, it was expected of me not to go out chillin’. So as I was half-asleep & fuming under my pillow, I received a call from Rach that she had already arrived safely and Vinz had already picked her up.

When I asked, it was a good thing they weren’t hungry.

Where else then?
It felt like we haven’t seen each other in ages and I won’t be available today so we hung out at the comfort of my crib. She bought back a dozen donuts!

I was rather hesitant to consume any of them but when we opened the box, ZOMFG!!!!!! =0

Sitting before me, was a wide array of different flavoured donuts.

This is only ONE box. The other box was being devoured by us gluttons.

Believe me when I say they looked as tempting as a year’s supply of Tequilas & Baileys on the rocks. For the non-alchs, it is as tempting as a years supply of tickets to Las Vegas. *gasp*

My personal faves were the Tiramisu, Almond & Dark Chocolate ones. Rach’s faves was the green chocolate mint one. The colour sorta turned me off, but when I tried it, OOOHHLALA~~

We ate like nobody’s business and boy, it was lovely!
Somehow in my opinion, I feel this beats Dunkin’ Donuts but I don’t know about you peeps. So….

…. what’s your take?

Easter weekend!

March 25, 2008 by thejessicat

Look at the Easter egg I was supposed to decorate.

pretty?

haha. Obviously not. Cos’ it’s still empty!!!!

I was supposed to decorate it….. but I didn’t say I decorated it, did I? =P

My loved ones & I headed down to Equatorial Hotel to indulge in their brunch buffet and Easter Celebration . Hmm…. aren’t I supposed to be in church? =/

The food was yummy – I finally get to eat my bread&butter pudding! Oh, for those not in the know, I have this insane craving for bread&butter pudding. I took like, almost a plate-full of it. Oh well, that’s enough to satiate my bread&butter pudding tank!

Another delicious thing served was the Russian Salad – absolutely tasty!
It’s just adorable how they served it on a spoon , and although it sufficed only one mouthful, I took many spoons. It was my fav of the day!

Have a bite?

Easter being easter, the event was decorated with lotsa marzipan bunnies. None for real though. Dubby and I decided to get a lil kinky with the ones Uncle Mike collected back

This is so wrong.

Plates & plates of varied entrees, main courses, desserts, pastry and the like was enough to put out anyone’s malnutrition =) Although I have to admit not everything was good, but hell yeah, it sure was enough to make my tummy happy!

Unc Mikey missing in action & Unc Tenny the photographer

Mr. Bean, one of the main attractions

Mr. Bean golfing without the ball

On this blessed Easter, I actually couldn’t believe my luck! My name was announced to receive the 1st prize in the lucky draw contest!
Ya’ know, honestly, I’ve always acknowledged the fact that I’m shitface when it comes to this kinda stuff – lucky draws or any minor contests that requires luck. But I guessed the tables have turned now, lady luck has chosen me!

The prize? A buffet lunch for two in the coffee garden of Equatorial Hotel.

Be nice. *giggles*
