Boys Like Girls at Sony, The Curve!

August 13, 2009 by thejessicat

I‘m pretty sure those of you who are familiar with the American Top-40 music charts or even MTV music would have defintely heard of Boys Like Girls. For those scratching their heads thinking who I am rambling about, fret not.

They are such heartthrobs!
An American rock band from Boston with their 1st self-titled album in 2006 and is now on tour promoting their 2nd studio album, Love Drunk. Boys Like Girls have also recently toured across USA with emo-rock band Good Charlotte.

blg

Ta-daa! There they were in the flesh yesterday at Sony Centre in The Curve, Damansara for a meet-and-greet autograph session with their fans! Hordes of peeps, consisting of mostly young teenaged girls (and their apprehensive parents LOL) holding posters and CDs were flocking the entrance.

meet

I also dig similar Alternative Rock music like the All-American Rejects, Greenday, Fall Out Boy, Nickelback, Secondhand Serenade and Switchfoot.

At least they’re not like some other threesome lolli-poppish boy band from their American counterparts with sissy looking prettyboys. Whooops. Now, I didn’t mention any names right? Heh. I think you know who they are already

initials

Heck, I’ve always had a thing for piereced and tattoo-ed whiteboys with emo hair. Haha. Every girls has their fantasies, no? Let’s check out these bad-ass cuties in the shots I captured.

That’s Martin Johnson.
He’s the lead singer of the band.

That’s Paul DiGiovanni
He’s the lead guitarist & my fave member!

This is John Keefe.
He’s the band’s drummer

Finally, check out Bryan!

Pretty cool how I’m blogging this with their songs ‘Great Escape’ and ‘Love Drunk’ blasting on my headphones. And please, do me & yourself a favour and watch this. YOU HAVE TO! DON’T LEAVE MY BLOG WITHOUT AT LEAST WATCHING THIS ACOUSTIC VERSION! Please?

I melted at his first few lines

Even if I didn’t catch them live in person yesterday or have no clue of how they look like, their music gives me an emo, punk-rock vibe which I forsee consisting of rockish looking band members.

autotgraphs

Sadly though, I didn’t manage a picture with them as they were too busy autographing their younger fans’ CDs, posters, band merchandise and even at the back of their Tshirts!

But behind those eye-candy shots,
lies the gurl and her precious gear

Full Coverage of Artistry July 09!

July 28, 2009 by thejessicat

After filtering goddamn many photos, I’ve chosen 50 to be placed here in my blog! The rest will be up on Facebook 🙂 Let’s get things started, shall we?

Oh wait… before you continue, check this out first – [click]

For starters, I’m surprised I actually arrived there pretty early in contrast to my usual Malaysian time. heh. We were one of the earliest to arrive and started snapping away!

twintower
Standing in between 5′ 8″ to 6′ 2″
We were dubbed the Petronas Twin Towers!

My picture moment with the Artistry crew. I liked the way the emcee dressed. It’s friggin’ funky I tell ya. Imagine, a pink bandana matched with a neon tie with a shirt underneath and a vest and baggy jeans. Voila!

Chic lady on the right liked my hair!
wheee
More and more of my buddies began to roll in one by one and of course, we had many picture moments by the Artistry board right outside. The emcee began hyping up the crowd outside already.

When I say “one two three”
You say “Artistry!“

Snapped a group picture just before we began our long and crazy night ahead.

Woots

The moment we got inside, we were in awe. There were many display cabinets for the godly Henessy VSOP bottles and lots more. I reckon this is a good place for us to down all our shots or mingle about 1st before the party began.

Check out the expression of the lady on the bottom right.
LOLness.

The set-up of the foyer wowed us and the powerful disply of lightplay was impressive. Colourful laser beams flashing around with an LED controlled lightboard had those lights dancing, tumbling and free-wheeling almost everywhere across the room

(Sit back further away from your screen & it’ll be more legible)

We had a few challenges of Hennessy shots by the bar

Down it all neat, yo!

DJ Milinka was already spinning the moment we entered the party area. My, it was huge! It was segregated into 4 sections, namely the V, S, O and P. The VIPs had an aerial view of the stage right above!

showdown

We were seated at the S section, where it was reserved for bloggers and the media. Awesome central view of the stage and everyone else at the mainroom below.

Hey I just noticed that we’re all dressed in black & white

When I exited our sections and entered the main room, I took some lovin’ at the bar. ‘Em bartenders were flaring and attractive baristas were serving free-flow of Hennessy shots and cocktails.

Our local rock band One Buck Short made an appearance as well. Man, I love their songs! Soon, The Homies began their rap performance in Mandarin. Pity I don’t understand a word huh.

The Homies from Taiwan!

Made it a lil lomo looking 🙂

Soon after, the sexy vixen Dominique Tsai belted out a rockin performance with a combo of singing, dancing and also playing the electrone!

She’s hawt. Like seriously.
Gawd I love her lanky legs & svelte figure
And for the record, I’m straight 🙂

She really knew how to work both her Chinese educated and English educated fans in a frenzy.

She also shared the stage with internationally reknown Fat Man Scoop & Joe Flizzow for a duet performance. The rapping and breakdance performances set the mood really well.

Bloggers can never take too many photos

And FINALLY.
The maestro of it all took to the stage. He’s the one I’ve been waiting for all night long. Lemme introduce to you.. FAT MAN SCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOP!

noway
Hell yeah.
I’m proud to say I’ve met him in the flesh now!

He worked the crowd really well by rapping and catapulting us to the skies alongside the DJs playing friggin’ awesome remixes. Heck there was songs by Timberland, Missy Elliot, Jay-Z and lots more.

good
Thumbs up for ya, Scoop!

However, I’ve heard of some who disliked the fact that he often played and paused the songs – causing a rupture of their party momentum. Well actually guys, if you went right below the stage (or on the dance floor) like my friends and I did, you would totally get why he did that and enjoy it just like we did 🙂

billyjean
Michael Jackson imitation!

One of my favorite parts was when the DJs remixed MJ’s Billy Jean and Scoop busted out his smooth moves according to the infectious beats of this number.

AAOOOOUUU!!

WHEN I SAY JUMP,
YOU JUMP!

I can clearly remember the funniest thing he said that night :

“Look guys, I weight over 300 pounds…
so I’m only doing this once for ya’ll”

AND HE JUMPED ALONG WITH US.
God bless solid architecture of the stage.

fatmanscoop
Raving hard with the crowd

I had a pleasant surprise when he actually jumped off the stage to party with us on the dance floor. THANK HEAVENS HE DIDN’T DO A STAGE DIVE LEST THIS WILL BE THE LAST PARTY OF OUR LIVES. -RIP- I don’t fancy being squashed thankyouverymuch.

fellas
A whole 15 seconds on the dancefloor
with us before getting back upstage

I honestly can’t think of how things will be like if he actually undergoes liposuction or perhaps a diet program. Then… What’s a Fat Man Scoop without the fat?

Speaking of which, here’s a very funny sight when he was relentlessly attempting to climb back up without help.

climb
It was so cute!

He had trouble getting up and many fans helped pushed his derriere forward with the help of some crew members yanking him back up. hee!
We continued partying the night away with some of Scoops mind-blowing performances

Saltshakin’ salt shakers The YingYang Twins then tremoured the stage with their raps and whatnot. Funny how they can pull of looking so darn Reggae yet so Hip Hop simultaneously.

yytwin
Love some of their addictive songs!

Mr. Sam then took to the decks with his remixes of Hip Hop, R&B and House. Perfect for some feet-shuffling and shimmying on down!

Group shot FTW

We decided to call it a ni

Some photos of Artistry July 09

July 26, 2009 by thejessicat

Woke up reeeeeeeeeelly late after partying hard from Artistry last night at Bukit Kiara. The last time I actually partied that hard was my burfday party last month in Zouk with my buddies. Hennessy shots and cocktails FTW!

This way for free-flow of Hennessy
& where the party begins

What can I say? The music was fabulous.
Especially Fat Man Scoop. I was within arms length of touching him (not that I want to but yeah you catch my drift) when he jumped off the stage to the dance floor to party with us for 15 whole seconds.

50dollas
ya got a 50 dollar bill putcha hands up!
single ladies, I can’t hear yall!

More on how awesome Fat Man Scoop is very soon.
Plus, some funny pictures of his I-want-to-fart-but-can’t-let-it out expressions and also shots of him trying to climb back up the stage but was too heavy to get up by himself. LIKE HELLO HE WEIGHS HEAVIER THAN 300 POUNDS duh. He wouldn’t be our dear ol’ Fat Man Scoop if he wasn’t fat.

but he was godlike last night.
magnificent

The Ying Yang Twins were there too, so were Dominique, The Homies, One Buck Short, DJ Milinka and the mind-blowing Mr.Sam on the decks. The set-up was fantastic, it was really grand!

I’ve gone whacko over Jacko

July 13, 2009 by thejessicat

Okay well, it has been approximately 2 weeks since the passing of Michael Jackson. I actually thought it was a prank upon waking up to a few SMS-es saying he had died.

My random impersonation of MJ

I never thought much about it until it dawned upon me that the King of Pop is really what he is now – dead and gone. Reading through special edition pullouts after pullouts all about MJ’s musical career and personal life, I couldn’t help but to think that this dude had achieved so much.

Random facts
  1. How come I didn’t know he was married twice? How ignorant of me.
  2. I want to go to Neverland
  3. My favorite song of his is ‘Thriller’

I like zombies

5. Everyone in Tesco gathered around a tiny TV just to watch MJ’s concerts
6. Buddy Andrew was emotionally in despair about his death
7. I had an overdose of MJ when everything on Facebook, Twitter, blogs, magazines, televisions, conversations were about him

8. His daughter Paris was choked with tears when she said how much she loved him

That moved me.

9. My maid was crying when she watched the MJ Memorial on telly
10. I can’t believe someone asked me, “Who’s Michael Jackson?”

This is my tribute to the late Whacko Jacko,
one that I never thought I’d write about.

He really is a legend.

After all, there would be no
MOON WALKS AND CROTCH-GRABBING PERFORMANCES
without him!

Am i nuts or what?
It’s 3:40 AM and here I am blogging about Michael Jackson?
Ohnoes.

Hennessy Artistry ft. Young 6ixx + more!

June 5, 2009 by thejessicat
Why do you think being bloggers are awesome?
Simply because we are 🙂

A huge group of selected bloggers were given tickets to attend June’s Hennessy Artistry featuring Young 6ixx, DJ Yasmin, Lap Sap + VJ Spacebar held on the 4th June 2009.

Yes that was only last night!

Yuppers! As promised, I take pride in giving you guys prompt and complete coverage. So buckle up and get ready for my take on the head banging, booty shakin’ and electro spinnin’ party in Phuture, Zouk KL!

Here are the talented peeps being featured for this installment of Hennessy Artistry, lemme first introduce ya’ll to them. 6ixx was brought to Malaysia all the way from the United States even!

Among the talents in the line-up

I was there with the rest during the meet-and-greet session before the show began. A mini press conference was being held as well. LapSap duo were in a live interview by Natalie from Hitz.fm.

omfg LapSap Blink is so adorable

Sorry but, I can’t help associating Natalie with an image of a very masculine person. I love her voice and all but this is my 1st time seeing her in the flesh.
No intention of giving flippant remarks but heck, I prefer her offscreen LOL

I’m prepared to be wow-ed by them tonight!

me6ixxmin
I took my chance in grabbing a piccie with them

We were served with free-flow of Hennessy drinks the entire night.

scared smileys

Imagine, Hennessy from 8.30pm till the wee hours of the morning! Shooters on the rocks and their signature cocktails Hennessy Soda, Hennessy Ginger and Hennessy Apple were in abundance

Even LapSap Xu had his share of Hennessy

And so did I

I attacked the shots the moment we arrived Zouk

Soon after, the session ended and it was time to partay the night away.
But then again, what’s a party without their rockin’ party peeps?

Let your hair down, for this is Hennessy Artistry!

And when Young 6ixx made his entrance, he got the crowd going bonkers. His raps were so addictive I tell ya. Especially when he rapped some of those from the Top Billboard Charts

Keep it going peeps! LapSap then took over the stage and spun the decks with their very own blend of house and electro music. Blink and Xu were so exuberant while doing their thang, it was almost impossible not to party along krazy!
