*loud sigh*
Total annihilation has struck my desk
I've probably never shared this, and I probably never will.
But since I'm already on the brink of depression, I figured that my thoughts should spill.
Where is that girl that her classmates once knew?
That top scorer with High Distinctions and results to kill?
What is lacking in her textual arguments and its merit?
For that of a work only brought back a miserable Credit
College academics and the ropes of University
Is a world of a difference – bringing her to adversity
With every essay and each forthcoming examination
She now dreads and regards it as a total abomination
"University life is not much tougher than College", as they all say
So why can't she earn those grades she used to attain in this very way?
Assignments were returned and now sits on her table
She could never fathom the atrocity, could this be possible?
My desk is a war-stricken continent of notes and papers
And i thought University was supposed to be fun. The best times of your life perhaps?
Though I'm thankful for having ma gurls <3
Shot during International Studies lecture
Yes. Although it's my first semester in Monash University – straight into a 2nd year student – and most of you would probably say I'm not accustomed to to what is expected of its students yet nor its standards of requirements, this doesn't give me the excuse to perform so dreadfully.
Dreadful – in Sue Ann's and my opinion, would be less than a Distinction.
Don't psychoanalyze us. It's just very difficult for us to stomach the fact that our once-profoundly impressive results in college and high school, is now less than a Distinction in University – let alone a High Distinction.
How should our thesis be written in order to gain the marks that we need?
That is the question… a depressing one.
π π
On a happier note, yet another article has been published on my fortnightly column in the Malaysian Mirror. This time, it's about Video Games Live which hit the Malaysian scene recently. Do show some love <3 if you may π
It's funny adjusting life back to University,
especially when you've been in the industry for quite a bit.
Best of luck to you dear. I know you can do it!
π thanks so muchie. i will have faith!
More studying to be done. Good luck yea.
sigh. i guess. but i just need to grasp the concept of writing a winning thesis. =/ dunno how
Milo , let me share an article from Joel Osteen Ministries …..
Todayβs Verse: βThe steps of a good man are ordered by the Lordβ¦β (Psalm 37:23, KJV).
Todayβs Word:
Sometimes, when we encounter difficult situations, we can be tempted to wonder if we are on the right path for our lives. And yes, sometimes we make poor choices that get us off course. But if your heart is following after God, if youβre determined to stay in faith and put Him first in your life, you can be confident that you are right where you are supposed to be.
You might say, βJoel, that couldnβt be right. Iβm uncomfortable. Somebody isnβt treating me right.β God will not allow a challenge to come into your life unless He has a divine purpose for it. Iβve found nothing in life happens to us; it happens for us. God uses those difficult things to grow us and stretch us and take us to another level. Remember, He orders your steps. Stay in faith, keep a good attitude, and let Him lead you into the good plan He has for you!
Prayer for Today: Father in heaven, thank You for ordering my steps. I trust that You are at work in my life even during times when I donβt understand it. Give me the strength and courage to do what is right in Your sight. I bless You today and always. In Jesusβ Name. Amen.
Said the prayer edi. such wise words. π thanks fer sharing! hehe

Aawww… it’s a wonderful post^^ I especially love the poem-like part.. he he=D Don’t worry babe, I’m sure we’ll do better in time.. We need to persevere and always try harder.. What matters is we know we’ve tried our best and there are no regrets on our part^^ Huggies!! <3
hehe thanksss π π yeah, just HAD to get my misery out. sigh! yeah, i rlly hope so too. time is all it takes i guess. but for now, we need to learn the ropes of uni life first in order to stay on top. π hugggss!
nose bleeding.. too distracting la babe~
LOL ppl tengah sad u go and look at THAT pulak π *sniff*
Cheer up hon. Its a very difficult process to get used to uni life. Furthermore you have other commitments also thats why I think it takes longer time. But once that time come, you will be getting great grades like last time ^_^
sigh. this “process” better not take long!! π π but yeah i agree to that too. *cross fingers*
Hang on in there and always ask. ask the lecturer, get feed back^^ it’s ur advantage to have been in the industry^^
sigh. Guess i will then. thanks! Although i’ve no idea how much it guarantees good grades the next round! yeah, it is an advantage no doubt – but not for written thesis & assignments & researches! π
Heya Jess,
Stay strong and have a positive mind. Don’t let all the college work affect you!
Hmm… guess I will. Thanks so much. This is only the beginning i hope! and it’s UNI! not college! π hehe
Checking out ere. =). Having a war with the college. Just jk, having exams
good luck! π
You haven’t seen mine. Everyone fights for straight A’s (in which we call 4 flat). FRUST!!!!
yeahhhh. Im THAT competitive too!! π don’t wanna lose out!
Jess, I totally understand you. I was somewhat in a similar situation when I started to study. But I know you’re intelligent, I believe you will succeed, when you focus and put your heart into it: You’ll get good grades. And keep in mind, grades are not everything. You have personality, that will be much more important later one day on the job market. Don’t be depressed you have me π
*nods* i’ll take ur words into mind. sigh. i wish it wouldn’t be so hard to adapt! Will try to believe in myself more π and well.. yeah technically, grades are not all, but when you graduate as a 1st class honours student, it IS a difference already. well sorta π
Hey girl, cut yourself some slack! It’s technically your first year of studies after some years of working. I’m sure you’ll get back to your form in no time! Cheer up! π
FORMMMMMMMMMM COME BACK TO ME NAOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! sigh. thanks alot babe. i need the form nao!!!!!!!!!!!!

Btw good luck and study hard ya! π
don’t be dissappointed! if the smarter asses can do it, so can everyone. and thanks!
i gt tonne of assignments too TT
sigh. get it done! π
Jess, I’ve told you this before but i’m going to reiiterate it here:
University is a -whole- nother ball game, compared with college and high school, particularly one like Monash, where the standards are so very high. I believe that you have the ability to ace every single subject. You are new the system though, and you need to figure your way through it. I had a massive culture shock when entering uni, too. π I only got credits and only one HD for my first round of minor assignments.
Essay writing is a skill. There is a method of constructing and executing every single essay. Once you have mastered the format, you shouldn’t have any trouble getting your grades up π
<3
that really helped. looks like I’ve got lots to adapt to and learn the academic culture of this “premier” university like Monash. sigh. thanks so much. I just can’t wait till i master the format and skill of kicking my HD’s ass! thanks lots
<3
Let me know if you want to read through any of the essays i’ve done particularly well in.
Wow that came out sounding really stern! XD;; Anyway, you’re very welcome and i’m willing to help. π
hehehehe the stern drea at work π
bigbig appreciation <3
that would be great π π so touched ur willing to help! no reason for me not to do well!
Good luck on your assignments and exams! π I’m pretty sure it’s just culture shock for you for you are brilliant! π
thank so much π sigh yeah HUGE CULTURE SHOCK to monash. it drains my life out! ahaahahah. π π
Take your time and cut yourself some slack at the beginning especially as you said yourself – you are starting all over again. The difference between college and university is huge so whilst getting distinctions is not impossible, you shouldn’t shoot yourself if you’ve tried your best (i.e. not last minute late night work!).
Usually the best involves planning ahead, researching your topic correctly (with appropriate annotations/citations), writing a draft, asking a friend and/or your lecturer (and it’s good to show that you are enthusiastic about the subject although there are some lecturers who don’t give a sh*t about their job/students and seem to award marks arbitrarily) and then rewrite it with corrections/new ideas implemented.
Other advice would be to ask other people who have been successful in your subject of interest (most seniors will help juniors so don’t be afraid to find the friendly ones) and read/skim a thesis that has already been given a good mark (although that again depends on the lecturers and their habits). You should also be able to find a book(s) on ‘how to write a good thesis’ in the library somewhere.
For a girl who likes video games, you can see this as level 5 of the education game (after kindy, primary, secondary, college). You need to apply the same skills, effort and intelligence that made you successful in previous levels, learn a few new tricks and fingers crossed, you’ll beat the final boss with distinction!
Good Luck!
wow that’s one wordy advice! i read every single thing. digesting it well too. sounds like a pro speaking man! hahaaha π I will keep this in mind. appreciate it! π π thanks fer making me put more hope to ace it
I was feeling the exact same thing.
I guess, the demands of society no longer made it possible for education to be enjoyable.
good luck!
sigh yeh! thanks.. and all the best to u too!
hv faith in yrself and most imp stay VERY FOCUS. Once u get the hang of it, it’ll b a breeze. If a late starter can get thru U life, wat’s tat to u!!. Dun give up. Life is not a bed of roses, ok. Kah Yau!!
will do! π i rlly hope so too. won’t give up. gambateh!
