Ever been in touch with your rough and tough side? Try some extreme sports – it’s the way to go! There’s sports like BMX biking, skateboarding, skydiving, surfing, snow skiing, in-line skating and finally ROCK CLIMBING!

Yup yup, your blogger here has pushed her boundries and tried a hand at rock climbing. Hey, since I’m into hiking, I reckon I’d do pretty alright for this sport.

Let’s just see if I do or do not, shall we?

ALRIGHT FOLKS, IT’S TIME TO BREAK SOME BONES
AND CLIMB SOME ROCKS

That’s buddy Zhao. He’s in charge of taking care of me and guiding me on the Do’s and Don’ts of rock climbing. Safety measures must always be taken into priority.

I admit, I was rather apprehensive when we first started.

So I got my harness and other necessary gear all checked and harnessed firmly on me, put on my (awful-looking) climbing shoes, tied up my hair in a ponytail and I’m all set and ready to roll!

Arghh damn. I’m getting higher and higher.
This sucks!
Beads of sweat were already forming on my forehead

See Zhao below me holding my rope? It’s called belaying.
This is where the person belaying you is to release/tighten your rope according to the pace of your climb.

I swear I did not trust my belayer at all at first.
What if you drop me?
I’d fall directly to my doom.
This is me persevering to climb every rock there is to get to the highest point.
My palms were already drenched in perspiration
but I wasn’t ready to give up yet
When I got higher and higher, the altitude began to take its toll on me. I couldn’t help but to keep looking down. How silly wtf. But at this point, my strength was failing me. Ohnoes.

Damn. I look like a frog in this position

When I kept climbing to reach higher and higher, somehow I knew I couldn’t carry on. My energy has been drained from all the previous climbing of other rocks and this sky-high rock wall was the final straw.

This is me clinging on to dear life.
Aaacccckkkkk
PUT ME DOWN! NOW!

I knew I was bellowing my lungs out, much to my own dismay.

It took a very long time to actually get me down. How this scene reminded me of a wet cat stuck up on a tree having to have the fire brigade to rescue the poor feline down to the ground. Yes, do not chastise me for that. In all honesty, I was terrified and stuck up there.

Oh well. There’s always next time

Meanwhile, I should just relish the sight of professional climbers -cough- like yourself. Zhao in action, three cheers!

He made it look so easy peasy lemon squeezy!
Psst – he’s been into this for 2 years now

Wheeeeeeeeee this is actually the only way I can keep fit. Devoid of any gym membership whilst in KL, I’d give this sport two thumbs up! Oh and.. my trainer too. Woots!

Zhao & I

My next session of rock climbing will prolly be next weekday. Depending if he’s free and vice versa. And I know I’ve canceled out twice last minute. My bad! Won’t happen again, I promise.

I’ve began to embrace rock climbing already.
Bought the 10 Pass two weeks ago and now, more to come!

IF ONLY I CAN JUST SHUT MY EYES
AND BRAVE MY FEARS

and I can’t believe I’ve always wanted to bungee jump
