Introducing a furry bundle of joy! Cheers to my furkid Chivas, my one n’ only kittyboy

Tuesday, November 22nd, 2011

Ohai! Hope your weekend was just as exciting and eventful like mine was, if not better!

Today imma introduce you my little one. No, I did not go into hiding for 9 months and produce an offspring.

Born 7th June 2011

My 5 month old American Curl x Ragdoll kitten

BabyChivas, would you like a glass of Chivas on the rocks?

Many question the reason behind his name. It is Chivas, named after the 1st blended Scotch whiskey that introduced me to the world of partying and drinking, Chivas Regal. Behold the wonder:

Ohai. We meet again.

So yes, hence the name Chivas. Also because I wanted to name my furkid after a two-syllable alcoholic beverage but other brand names didn't seem to cut it for a name of a cat.

I'm pree sure you would've known all about Chivas if you've been following me on Twitter or Facebook.

Here we are at Old Town White Coffee for dinner :)

Monday blues begone! Imma spam you with photos of my kittyboy today. Okay? :D :D

Adorable one

My 1st day bringing babyChivas home!

In case you were wondering how a 5 month old kitten can be so big, it's because of its breed.

It's a purebred American Curl with a Ragdoll for its mommy. It took the traits of its father, an enormous cat.

Cradling babyChivas

Got him for a fair bit of a price but he's worth everything to me now.

One of the reasons why I chose Chivas from its entire litter of siblings, is because he magically winked at me

And I managed to catch it again!!!!!!!! He only does it to me though :D :D :D

My one and only kittyboy

Brought him back to granny's place and there were dogs around so.. IN THE CAGE YOU GO! :D

For your own safety, boy

I hate it when he's eyes/pupils get tiny (direct sunlight) cos it makes him look a tad bit creepy

See what I mean? Creepy.

Btw, check out his ears. Total curly-eared trait from daddy American Curl!

Talking to Chivas before bedtime

Bought him a red toy shark to play with!

Who's my prim and proper kitty?

Just chillin' on the sofa

Ready to pounce? :D

POUNCE!

Food??

Just fooling around

How can you not love him?

Coming from a family who despises cats, thefockers instantly warmed up to babyChivas – faster than I thought they would! Granny and mom hates the living daylights of felines; warning me never to bring him back.

But knowing my rebellious nature, I did anyway. And guess what???

Woohoo :D :D See? If you give everything a chance, it will turn out great!

Nommy!!! :D

No mouse for this computer, cat.

Outing with kittyboy at Desa Park City with my mates :D

Yippee yay for pet-friendly zones!

Another outing!

Looking out the window

Although I look dreadful in this photo, babyChivas

looks simply adorable so I just HAD to post it up

Shocked expression LOLOL

Watching TV together

babyChivas being sucha baby!

I'm blessed to have housies that equally love and adore my kittyboy.

In fact, they do help me with disciplining him when he destroys our cables/wires by gnawing on them

Housie Edwin – Chivas' merciless discipliner, Uncle Edwin :P

Housie Darryl – Chivas' affectionate & pampering Uncle Darryl

"OH NO!

DID I DO SOMETHING WRONG AGAIN?"

Funny how we brought Chivas over to buddy Venessa's house to befriend her cat, Whiskey.

Chivas & Whiskey's 1st meet …….. didn't go well :(

"UGHHH. GTFO! NO! EWW! I HATE HER!"

Whiskey & Chivas not playing with each other

Chivas can be quite a whiner sometimes.

Especially when he wants more attention or food :D :D

WHINE WHINE WHINE

That's when mommy cajoles you

Happy now?

He's sucha child sometimes.

Well he should be, he's only 5 months old (4 months, at time of the above photo)

Just like me, I love how he can sleep instantly anywhere he wants

This was taken while he was keeping me company on my roadtrip to Ipoh!

Or just on my lap while I'm busy with work

Or over-exposed & vulnerable on the bed

Or in my arms like a baby!

Although I don't sleep with babyChivas, we do take naps together

Jessicat and her kittycat off to catch some zzzzzz's :D

"MOMMY! HOW DO I GET DOWN FROM HERE??"

Smile for the camera!

When I figured I was bringing him out with me all the time, I thought I'd just get a kittybag for him

So he can follow me whenever and wherever!

Another random photo:

Looking all serious and shizz

Also recently bought a kitty tee for him too!

Look who's a handsome boy now?

Lookin' all smug

But still adorable nonetheless

Cuddly kitty!

Oh and, you know what randomly came to my mind as I was choosing kittytees for him?

The fact that we always watch him poop – cos it's interesting to watch to be honest LOL

So.. no watching ey? Can we take photos instead? :P :P

POOP! You're on candid camera!

Oh, speaking of candid camera, you should totally see Chivas after showering.

HE.LOOKS.RIDICULOUS. And extremely scrawny!

HOUMAIGAWD LOLOLOL

Wet cat

BabyChivas snoozes a lot during the day but is tip-top alert during the night

"WHAT'S THAT, MOMMY?"

BabyChivas can be quite an intellectual kitty too.

Whilst I was slaving away at my assignments and exams, he just loves coming over to me and sitting there to keep me company. Sometimes even walk up and stare or sit on my notes!

Heh. Excuse me

Thanks for the offer, sweetheart, but I don't think I can trust you to give me a Distinction for my assignment

Microsoft Word kitteh

Another random huggable kitty photo of him

Better than any huggable plush/soft toy!

Also, like clockwork, he mews softy and squeaks whenever he is being squeezed hehe!

Cuteness overload. Mommy and everybodeh loves you!

So there you have it. An entire post about my furkid.

Photo credits to housies Darryl & Edwin and my iTouch

Ain't he a celebrity cat? :P So many people wanted to meet him already for the past 1 month ever since I tweeted and Facebooked him to the world! :D :D One day, just maybe one day, I'll bring him out partying with me to meet his muse, Chivas Regal LOL

I was joking ;)

Great week ahead peeps!

WHAT ON EARTH IS THIS AWFUL LOOKING THING? Someone please identify this creature!

Tuesday, September 20th, 2011

So my friend, Wei Jin posted this photo on his Facebook profile with the caption:

"Anyone seen this strange looking bug before?? @@"

I totally freaked the moment I saw it.

Pardon my language, but what the fuck is that?!??

It looks like a cockroach mated with a grasshopper, producing this hybrid, ghastly lobster-looking insect.

LOL If it's even an insect to begin with. By definition, insects have 6 legs.

My observation:

See that final pair of "leg"? It looks like a lizard's tail or a worm to me.

It has wings, albeit quite short.

It has feelers, like those of a cockroach

I then gathered more details about this odd creature -

  • He found it beside the kitchen table
  • It is about 3 centimetres in length, bigger than a cockroach (half the size of his palm)
  • It's tail looked like the back of a snake and had white stripes on it
  • It looked like a rat from far and when my friend wanted to hit it, it flew a little
  • The yellow stuff is its secretion (shit and goo)

If you guys have any more questions, just ask :)

Any opinions of yours is good too.

Thanks! I'm just extremely curious to find out what this is.

Any help will be appreciated! Share this! We'll find out what it is together

UPDATE!

A few readers told me it looks like a woodlouse.

And others told me it could be a wood termite.

More of them claimed it was the famed 'Cockamouse' from How I Met Your Mother

LOLOLOLOL I quite agree. But it's a fictional creature so it's impossible

Any more opinions, guys? :)

BIGGER UPDATE!!!

Finally discovered what that underground monster is! :D :D :D

It's called a Mole Cricket! (discovered it when I was Googling and Wikipedia-ing all night)

Ta-da! Same, right?

Your new best friend

I was sorta right. It IS a hybrid. And from the grasshopper family.

It's a cricket! Not your average cricket FYI.

This creature is nocturnal and practically spend their entire lives underground and digging tunnels.

It feeds on larvae, worms, roots and grasses.

EUREKA! :D

Back from a full day out at Melbourne Zoo + Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs Egyptian exhibition!

Sunday, May 15th, 2011

This is insane! Out from 9am – 11pm and at least 10 hours of non-stop walking has really taken its toll on me.

I'm maxed out tired to the bone now – resting while transferring photos and blogging this post.

Yeahyeah, I know I should probably hit the sack by now but being me, it is imperative that I blog an immediate snippet before the entire blogpost… because who knows, this might take another million years to be up LOL

I love my new prezzie! An adorable, furry, soft tigga hat to keep my head warm

So anyway! I was at the Melbourne Zoo in Royal Park for almost 5 hours; was impossible to cover every nook and cranny

I reckon it would be safe to say that almost the entire animal kingdom reside within the walls of that zoo

From the smallest of insects…..

…to the biggest of animals!

My whole afternoon was spent exploring the entire zoo hunting down the animals to take photos of.

I swear felt like Dora the Explorer LOL! But the fact that I'm lacking the binoculars and knapsack doesn't come in the way for I think I made up for it with a big-ass DSLR camera and a slingbag :P :P

And… the King of the Jungle! (yes, if you're wondering… I was THAT close to Simba here)

It was incredible, better than any zoo I've ever been! Melbourne Zoo is massive and the entire place was an extremely close-to-real-life makeshift rainforest dessert ocean underground grassland antartic tropics aviary all in one.

Unlike many *cough* places *cough* that my fellow Malaysians know….

There are certain zoos in particular who mistreat their animals, cooping them up in tiny cages with restricted space to exercise, not cleaning their already miserable cages and drugging them to ensure their benevolence during photo-opportunities.

Oh and yes, I know I owe everyone a photo of a kangaroo ever since I set foot in Australia

So… ta-daa! :D Here it is, shot in the zoo earlier today

Plenty more photos of the glorious (and even the unglorious, ugly, often overlooked) members of the animal kingdom to come! I did, as usual, took truckloads of photos.

And the most tedious part is filtering & batch processing them all. Bleh.

Headed to the Tutankhamun exhibition after that for another 3 hours!

On the right: a bag of Egyptian souvenirs I bought. On the left: a replica of Tutankhamun's skull

Verdict? It was magnificent and we were clearly in awe with everything they had to offer. Everyone was clearly enthused with the displays, footages, ancient relics, hieroglyphs, statues, fragile mummified skeletons,  and the like. More to come, I promise!

If you're an avid lover of Egyptian civilization like I am, you'll be star struck.

And now do you still wonder why I had the Eye of Horus tattooed on my left wrist? ;)

Sometimes, it’s just not your day.

Sometimes, I need my escapade.

And sometimes, I yearn to just lie under the sun to let life pass me by.

Sometimes, I am aimless; not knowing where certain routes lead to.

And sometimes, I could walk down a path which still remains unwritten.

Sometimes, I could not be bothered where the trail leads.

And sometimes, I reckon it's the journey that matters the most.

Sometimes, I am fearless; but many a time plagued by inhibitions

And sometimes I am sheltered by a facade I wish to believe in.

Sometimes I wish I could only see

And sometimes not dive headfirst in a vault of quandaries

Sometimes people stumble and fall; after all, to err is human

And sometimes the untold illuminates the answer that can never be found

Sometimes, the wrong methods are proven the best way to constantly learn

And sometimes, it helps you discover yourself in the process

Bold, adventurous and playful like a canine

Sometimes I wish I didn't have a single qualm in my mind

Thriving on long walks, playing fetch and frolicking on the grass

Sometimes a huge, mesmerizing smile will allow storms to come to pass

Sometimes I wish I never had to suppress myself; thus ambiguous, cryptic and a tad misunderstood

And sometimes I enjoy free-falling and being susceptible to life's treasures

Sometimes I need my liberation, just to run an exhilarating mile

And sometimes, if I'm lucky it may lead me back to familiarity

Sometimes all I need is to close my eyes and feel it brimming within

So come here; lay with me on the grass and show me something so beautiful like never before.

And that's why they say dogs are man's best friend

P/S: I have no idea how I managed to turn a sunny day out into a surge of abstract thoughts

Believe me, it was supposed to be my usual carefree thing but it didn't quite turn out that way.

Goodnight all.

Sunrise after sunrise, another one beckons; it will herald a new day, I'm certain.
