WISHING ALL MY DEAREST READERS A VERY GRUESOME HALLOWEEN 2009!
Yesterday night was awesome! As Halloween will always remain my favorite festival of the year, I still wanted to make it a point to celebrate it with ghoulish hype! But this year round, I won’t be able to join any Halloween parties as I will be at the All American Rejects concert in Bukit Jalil.
But WHO says I still can’t celebrate Halloween on the eve?
*evil laughter*
But yeah, I know I’m a little too mild this year as compared to all the previous years of dress-ups. All because I joined in the fun here immediately after 2 events. Obviously can’t be a zombie already at these functions right 🙁 ?The Malaysia Airlines bloggers’ dinner session and a premier Spanish brand, Desigual’s outlet launch in Pavillion. Will blog about it soon! 🙂
Wil and I
Okay, back to today’s entry! Courtesy of NTV7 Breakfast Show cutie, Will Quah, we had some dinner in a swanky restaurant & bar with the others and later proceeded with a zombie crawl along the entire stretch of Changkat Bukit Bintang in our blood and tattered clothes!
We drank blood, attacked cars, thumped at restaurant glass doors and joined in the crowd for some drink in each and every bar we could get our pale fingers on! It was great that most of the other party people joined in the Halloween spirit and even wanted to take pictures with us
But my babe Erin, didn’t fancy the idea of getting her face or clothes smeared with bloody goo when we literally pinned her down to force her to! 🙁 (there’s always next year) 😛
Aight, I gotta run! Will be having a round table session with the All American Rejects in the afternoon followed by their gig at night. So come back for me tomorrow 🙂
True Blood I will cry with anguish tears if you don’t! T__________T
Here I am blogging live from my hotel room of our official accommodation sponsor, Link Hotel Singapore. Just left Pan Pacific Hotel’s Grand Ballroom for the Nuffnang Asia-Pacific Blog Awards and I must say, I had a terrific time.
From the food, the company of buddies, the impressive stage set-up, presentation and everything else was just mad-awesome!! Oh and did I mention, all my buddies also looked amazing tonight? We had Allan Wu, the host of Amazing Race as our emcee for the evening.
Good job Nuffies
Yup, totally felt like a gala dinner – with me getting all dolled up with all my male pals in their immaculate crisp suits and my gal pals in their flowing cocktail dresses. Oh and, this is my date for the evening, the boyfie! <3
Next up, will also be the videos of the announcement of the winners from each respective category with their ‘grammy’ acceptance speech! Congrats to triple-time winner Xia Xue bagging the Most Influential Blog Award, Best Blog Design Award & Best Regional Blog Award
More event photos to come, with blogger-pals across the region (Malaysian, Singaporean, Australian and Phillipines), the award show itself, the camho moments during the event, candids, the 4-course fine dining served, and everything else right up till the end of the event… but right now, Imma go crash their rooms to play some cards as planned.
The Malaysian International Gourmet Festival 2009 (MIGF 09) will be here throughout the month of October! Courtesy of Prince Hotel & Residencies, I received an exclusive media invitation for their Fashion, Food & Wine Review in Tai Zi Heen along with the rest of my fave foodies.
Prior to the event, we were privileged to have a short tour around Carven Ong’s boutique. He’s one of Malaysia’s best fashion designers – specializing in evening wear and wedding gowns.
I was enticed by the plethora of bright colours upon walking into his flagship outlet! Yellow, green, orange, pink were seen abundantly in his color coordinated dresses.
I wasted no time in browsing through the ballgowns, while visualizing which one I’d look good or princess-ey in. Hmm… lemme see..
Reminds me of a fairytale wedding of Cinderella!
But one that suits me the most, considering the fact that reddish hues was my most preferred colors. But unfortunately, I was too shy to come outta the dressing room. Ohmy! I wouldn’t wanna come out and parade in it when I was actually just trying it on!
But Carven & his team were very friendly and accomodating. It’s always best to know that you’re around warm company for more proffesional advice whenever you’re choosing the right attire for your wedding/ball.
After all, he is THE wedding specialist!
There were also 2 chinese leggy models present for this event. They were strutting about in tight fitting cheongsams which complemented their svelte figure extremely well.
Double trouble!
Carven Ong specially designed those ‘Oriental Flower’ couture series for this event and it was portrayed beautifully by 2 chinese models.
Very intricately done outfits if I have to say so myself
Speaking of outfits, check out the newly designed uniform of the hotel staff! Pleasant indeed. I like how Prince Hotel made the effort to befit their theme for the evening.
Oh here’s a really random photo. I don’t know why I look so stern and formal in the picture below but anyway, nice brown dress in my background ey? The cheong sam elements remained along with a burst of modernism.
Moving on to our other part of the Fashion, Food & Wine event for the evening was of course, where your tastebuds will take you.
Are your tummies ready to rumble?
For those not in the know, Tai Zi Heen is an award winning Chinese restaurant in Prince Hotel, and will once again, be part of the MIGF 09.
Tai Zi Heen will be presenting ‘A Hong Kong Encounter’ featuring Ricky Thein, their Chinese master chef ‘s sign ature Cantonese cuisine delicacies.
Ricky did the peace sign during our camwhore!
With Andrew, the F&B manager and Donald Pezar, the head chef!
Imma share my very own Hong Kong encounter with yall right now.Let’s begin with the quadruple dished appetizers
Clockwise from top : Foie Gras Yam Puff Shredded Beef with Dried Tangerine Peel Wok-fried prawn with Asian Tomato and black sesame dressing Steamed cod dumpling with crab meat glaze
My fave was the Foie Gras Yam Puff! Imagine, something so westernized met with the oriental Hong Kong style of yam combinations.
A duo of duckling and organic yin choy broths with sun-dried seafood, prawn and hairy gourd was next. The gourds was imported from Hong Kong itself! (Hairy too haha)
Anything with fish will definitely stir me up! Honey and soya baked salmon with fragrant crab roe, soya beans, broad beans, honshimeji mushrooms and wolf berry sauce came in next.
This was a real winner!
Impressive presentation, no? This dish was named the Citrus Marinated Lamb Rack Roasted With White Sesame Seeds, Wok-fried Baby Cabbage, Fresh Lily Bulbs and a Spicy Minted Plum Sauce
The next dish was Dan Mee With Soy-Braised Beef, Carrots, radish and leek topped with splash of red wine. I took d spoon and dunked all the wine into the noodles!
The desserts were a great fusion of Hong Kong cuisine as well. Fancy some Chocolate Whiskey Siew Mai, Vanilla Ice Cream With Fresh Mango Puree, Sago and Pomelo? Yum.
The chocolate whiskey! Gosh.. a real craving
A wholesome dinner would not be complete without a glass of premium wine, yes? Like I previously mentioned, I fancy my meals topped of with a dash of wine.
To further enhance this Hong Kong Encounter, Pernod Ricard Malaysia introduced their fine selections of wine – Jacob’s Creek Reserve Shiraz to complement Chef’ Ricky’s exquisite, festive menu.
For those who appreciate the finer things in life, this wine is for you! Tastes really good to the tastebuds. I bet all of us loved it to bits! From one to a group of more than ten, this fiesta really rocked out evening.
Wine isn’t meant to be drank alone!
With 2 of my fave foodies, Sid & Tocky
The motley crew!
All in all, with much gratitude to Prince Hotel, I can definitely say that their Fashion, Food & Wine event was a success. All the best to Chinese Chef Ricky! We enjoyed every morsel of your gastronomic escapade to Hong Kong.
Can you believe how much pressure is on already? 🙂 TOMORROW NIGHT is the grand finale of the Simply Fabulous Maybelline New York!
That’s Sarah Lian, one of the hosts for this series
The previous challenge had them shopping in a pair with a budget of 400 bucks to create a thematic night out partying… in only 30 minutes!
Blimey! I don’t think I can ever ever ever in the name of holymotherearth, shop for a complete outfit for a party night in only half an hour. It’s insane! But I’m glad the gurls managed to pull through
Nalin’s dream was to become a travel host
You can watch their rush hour retail madness at their official webbie here

Their final challenge was to create a whole concept during their photoshoot which is themed as “My Dream”. After all, this Simply Fabulous challenge was initially for all of these top 10 finalists to persue their dreams.
They ingeniously came up with their concept, props and spoke to a very popular Fashion Consultant, Steven Sunny of ThreeSixty Fashion. He was the Fashion Director for the entire photoshoot session today.
Sunny browsing through the photographs taken
Here are some of the moments I captured right before their shoot.
Steffie’s dream was to become an actress
Syifa’s dream was to own her own bakery
One of the most outstanding contestants IMHO, is Diana. She’s a tough lass who handled so much controversy about her tudung(which shouldn’t be an issue in the 1st place anyway)
Preeta, the avid fashionista among the top 10
I was impressed with how the Maybelline make-up artists and hairstylists was so professional in their works. Check out how dramatic they made Calista and Susie! That’s the look I’m talking about babeh
Indeed. My kinda thing. RAWR!
Yes I’m biased like that – give me that kinda femme fatale vibe and I’ll love every single bit of it. You deserve it Calista! I was all over your look that day, wish someone could make me over like that. I wonder how I’d look!
Beware of the female species. They can claw through your skin & gauge your eyes out
And towards the end of the shoot, it was already late in the evening. Everyone was completely junked out from all the practising, shooting, rehearsing and so on.
Playing with the globe that Nalin & Zhareen used as props
Exhibit A as per below illustrates what I just mentioned about being tired and the best remedy, should there be no coffee within armslength, was to completely zonk out at a nearby couch
Alright gurls, get yourselves some beauty sleep and prepare for tomorrow night’s showdown!
One of you will be jet-setting of to New York’s Fashion Week and walk way with RM10K in sponsorship and RM15K worth of prizes. I’m feeling just as excited omg!
The dresscode for tomorrow’s grand event is : SIMPLY FABULOUS
So if you think you’re fabulous in the nude then you’re welcome to come as you are. Don’t take my word for that!Who do you think will win by the way?
I hardly ever have the time to write self-indulgent entries unfortunately. Most of my blog entries lately are all about events and food. But tonight, it’s gonna be different. I don’t give a flying rat’s ass.
BECAUSE SOMEONE STOLE MY HAT! Worse, a hat which I just bought a few minutes ago.
I didn’t even have the chance to wear it to any of the upcoming events! It’s this lil adorable black vintage hat with a black rose.
Kinda regretted that I didn’t wear it immediately after purchasing, all because it didn’t match my outfit. So I thought I’d save it for another day. All I had was some 5 minutes to try on the hat and to have Victoria take some pictures for me just to see how I’d look with it on.
I know I look weird/pale/whatever without make up but I don’t care either. Was just a test shot to see how my hat & I would turn up in pictures. And that, unfortunately, was the last time I wore it.
IT’S MY HAT, NOT YOURS B!TCH.
I hope it would catch fire and turn your hair into nothing but disintegrated debris if you ever wear it out.Either that, or it will simply fall off your head each time you try to take a picture with it. Why? Because I’mnasty like that.
On a lighter note, I can’t wait for Arthur’s Day by Guinness tonight! The Black Eyed Peas are so gonna boom boom pow the stage away. I guess, that should cheer me up.
