Future Music Festival Asia – for the first time ever in Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia!

Wednesday, April 25th, 2012

Been really busy! Hence lesser updates in this month.

Anyway, what rocked Malaysia's music scene?

It is the first ever Asian installation of the famed Future Music Festival – an outdoor, world-class rave party originating from Australia.

As I mentioned in this previous entry, Malaysia was the first ever venue to host Future Music Festival outside of Australia, boasting 70 international, regional & local acts on our party-grounds in Sepang International Circuit.

The FUTURE IS NOW.

If you missed the fabulous 13-hour rave event, then take my hand and I'll show you what happened through my eyes & party-feet :D

I started my journey south to Sepang International Circuit right after lunch with my partymates.

Pam & I (and a wild, random distraught face) in the backseat

Emily & I :)

Okay so.. that wild, distraught face wasn't exactly that random after all.

It was theboyfie photobombing us :D

We arrived just as Stafford Brothers set ended. Bummer! :(

But at least we could hear just how awesome they are – collaborating with Timmy Trumpet – as we walked to the event from our car.

Partying at Future Music Festival Asia in First Class thanks to Future Music Entertainment, Livescape Asia & Ecosphere

My partypeeps for the day! 13 hours of non-stop raving.

Let's do this!

Got our rave essentials ready : our Ray-Bans & party shades, slapped on lots of sunblock, brought disposable raincoats (just in case!), tissues, fully-charged mobile phones & cameras, LED finger-lights and ourselves of course – brimming with energy! :D :D

Camwhoring with theboyf while waiting for others to arrive!

More camwhoring!

Met up Sueann! :)

Finally when everything was over and done with at the entrance, we proceeded to go into the grounds.

There's no backing out once you get in there as a no re-entry rule was imposed.

Once you're in, you stay in ;)

With the Aussiemates!

Watching The Potbelleez at Future Stage

The crowd went crazy when they sang their single 'From the Music'

The other half & I (LOL look at Jane & Ray photobombing us!)

LOL Ash wore his shades upside down

Prolly can't see Jane's hat in this photo but she was wearing an epic feather headgear ala red-Indian!

With Shannon & Jane (and Joanne photobombing!)

The 4 piece Irish-Australian electro music group gave us a swell performance!

Managed to spot Jonny Sonic backstage! I ran outta the VIP lounge room to catch him for a photo

Sehati-sejiwa and I with Jonny Sonic!

After Potbelleez, we stayed on at Future Stage to watch Flo-Rida spin right round, right round :P :P

Flo-Rida!

Flo-Rida performing 'Low'

The popular American rapper bringing the house down with 'Club Can't Handle Me'

Flo-Rida interacted with his audience pretty darn well! He came down to where the audience was and stage-dived.

Grabbed my friend's waterbottle and poured everything on himself too! :D

Next up, we headed to Flamingo Stage to watch Grandmaster Flash

No prizes on guessing why it's called the Flamingo Stage

The legendary American Hip Hop pioneer, musician & DJ – well known as King Grandmaster Flash!

Boyfie and I

We be lovin' his 90s gangsta rap music! He even dropped beats by Eminem and Snoop Dogg.

Joe and I at the VIP deck

Bumped into a few other friends during Grandmaster Flash's set, Leonard & Belle!

So happy when Aaron and I *finally* met each other!

We haven't seen each other ever since I left Australia to come back to Malaysia

Bumped into a former collegemate, Theresa! :)
I just had a hunch that she will be there, knowing jolly well she's an EDM fan too!

Also met up with Chris, my first few buddies here when I first moved to KL!

When we walked past the art wall, Pam & I couldn't help but to run to the graffiti and take a picture with it!

Beautiful street art. Major loves!

We crossed to the other side to get to Las Venus stage to wait for Sneaky Sound System.

Look at everyone behind us waiting on the field!

Boyfie and I waiting too…….

Why are weeeeee waiting!!?

Getting darker and darker! Still waiting..

Jon, Jason and I…… still waiting

It was already 15minutes past 8PM and we have been waiting for 45 minutes! :(

We could no longer wait and dashed to Future Stage to quickly catch the last 15 minutes or so of Eddie Halliwell's set

We made it in time :D :D

Loved the deep & heavy sounds of his house and trance mixes

On the same stage after Eddie Halliwell was Pendulum, an Australian-British Drum n Bass/Rock band.

Rob Swire in action!

He was so lively and bursting with spirit and vigor – jumping, headbanging and beckoning us to follow suit.

We DnB revellers were practically feeding off his infectious energy!

Pendulum performing ''Witchcraft'

I daresay that Pendulum stands strong as my favorite act of the whole event, a tie between Cosmic Gate & Eddie Halliwell.

They were so amazing and their performance was resonating with intensity throughout their 2 hour set.

Pendulum performing 'The Island'

Wish I could stay longer though! Loved their performance so much :(

Unfortunately, we were all famished and thirsty as we had not eaten ever since we arrived the event at 3PM.

We had meat pies and delicious ice cream!

Laying on the couches inside the VIP lounge room after dinner

Pam & I ran all the way to Las Venus stage to catch Chase & Status!

Alas, we only managed to hear their final song performance and a thank you speech from them

Shortly after, Pam, Konzy & I headed to Gnome Stage to catch Super 8 & Tab.

Geez! We felt like energizer bunnies running from stage to stage making sure we get to watch our fave acts!

Woot woot watch the Finnish duo of  trance music producers go!

The laser lighting & flashes at this stage was extremely glaring! It was difficult to take photos or to watch the DJs

But fret not! We had our rave shades on us – it sure came in handy!

Shades and LED finger-lights!

Bumped into XinXian! :D :D

Finally, my Konzy came to join us right after he finished playing

his racing game at the interactive game hut

Oh, and he won himself a kick-ass lighter in red & silver! :D

We all then headed over to the Las Venus stage to catch Alex Metric soon after.

Watching the British musician & DJ drop the bass!

Bumped into my other Aussiemates, Michael and Chris standing right in front!

And the rest of the girls chilling on the field listening to Alex Metric from where they lay

After Alex Metric was over, we roamed about before heading to watch the Chemical Brothers

Fun fair rides! There was a Ferris Wheel and a Reverse-Bungee Jump ride!

From the initial 5, we spread out and so the 3 of us made our way to the front  to watch

Chemical Brothers as well as our favorite of the night, Cosmic Gate!

Part of the Chemical Brothers!

The transition between Chemical Brothers and Cosmic Gate was so quick that many of us didn't quite notice the sudden switch!

But here they are, the final act of the night…. the German trance duo behind the ever-popular 'Be Your Sound'

Cosmic Gate

Raise your hands for Nic Chagall and DJ Bossi!

Their 1.5hour set was phenomenal

All 5 of us reunited again after the 13 hour rave – fully exhausted and drained yet ecstatic that we have lived to rave through the first ever installation of Future Music Festival in our home country, Malaysia!

First of many to come, I hope? :)

Final photo! Tired but happy faces

Bought myself a Future Music Festival Asia tee as a memorabilia of the fabulous night!

I had recorded so much footage and was going to make a kick-ass video summarizing my FMFA 2012 experience, but it got deleted by accident as I thought I had already transferred them to my computer (but I didn't yet). Goddamnit! Was so pissed :(

But at the very least, theboyf happened to put together a simple video containing the footages he recorded!

So here it is -

Thanks for the footages, hun!

A big KUDOS and thank you to the organizers of Future Music Festival Asia 2012, Future Entertainment and Livescape Asia as well as its sponsors for making this event a tremendous success!

FMFA 2012 has certainly set the bar for world-class rave/music festivals

If you were there, you definitely will remember this for life!

Legendary Trance superstars Sander Van Doorn, Hardwell and Ferry Corsten LIVE in Malaysia! @ Zouk Club KL

Tuesday, April 17th, 2012

Friday night was beyond exhilarating. My fangirl life is complete.

I was an arms length away from one of my favourite, renowned DJs in the world. Ranked World #16, he is none other than the Dutch hottie Sander Van Doorn!

Let's get this party started!

We shook hands and he autographed my hand!

SVD -Looks like I'll never wash the back of my hand again :P

As he was signing my hand with his lil Sharpie marker, I told him he was awesome.

He looked up & gave me a million dollar smile. I swooned. Sander is adorable!

Okay. Enough with the gushing :D

Sander Van Doorn's gig was scheduled at 2am, and opening for him was DJ Terrence C.

Picture taken during Terrence C's set

I attended the event with my gurlie & fave rave-kaki, Pammy

Yay yay! We be partying with Sander Van Doorn

As if we never have enough of raves!

Nope, never. Bring ALL the world class DJs and we'll be there.

When the clock hit 2 in the morning, the crowd became so rowdy!

Everyone had to get a closer look at Sander, to give him a high-five, to shake his hand, to get photos of him, to just be right in fronta him!

I was squashed, elbowed, and jostled against the uproarious crowd.

But was loving it. After all, that's how a mosh pit should be; what's a loud, crazy crowd made of if not for its unrestrained hustling?

Sander droppin' it sick

He got the crowd so wild with his rambunctious spinning

The level of energy went 10 notches higher as Sander rocked the house with 'Koko'

He also spun a few popular favorites like 'Rattle' by the Bingo Players

We love you Sander!

Birds eye view : taken from upstairs in the VIP section

Deadmau5 spotted amongst the crowd! :P

It's a little different raving in the VIP area as no one really jumps madly.

So I went downstairs again to join a group of friends I spotted from the top!

How Ash & I would probably look during the day

How we look during the night :P :P

Keep it going till the sun comes up, Sander!

The night ended on a high note. What can I say?

Best Friday the 13th ever.

Got home at 7am, smiling myself to sleep. Indeed a night to remember

__________________________________________________________

Probably kinda late, but what went down in Febuary?

Another EDM powerhouse, Hardwell! Leaning more to Electro & Progressive music, the Dutch-born DJ is certainly on top of his game!

Ranked at World #24, Hardwell has pretty wicked tracks under his belt

Hardwell acknowledging his fans

Hardwell dropping his co-track, 'Zero 76' that he made with Tiesto

I went there with my usual rave-kakis to watch him perform live.

Neither of us could miss watching this talented DJ spin that thang!

My gurls Venessa & Pamela

The other half & I

My party peeps for the night

My gurlie Pam & I

Bumped into more buddies! Kelly & Cherina

We went crazy

Arms waved furiously in the air, heads banged in unison and the entire Zouk mainroom was escalated into a hub of energy!

Hardwell dropped his 'Encoded' and 'Cobra' as well as other popular tracks apart from his own.

Grainy picture of Hardwell from my phone

Only 23 years old, he has been making waves, collaborating with EDM giants and not forgetting releasing Top Tenners on Beatport!

So ecstatic to finally meet him :)

Boyfie and I were drenched with perspiration

Epic night with Hardwell indeed

——————————————————————————————————-

Back in December, we had Ferry Corsten perform for us right in the middle of our city that never sleeps.

Everyone was in the Christmas mood & ready to Get Merry with Ferry!

It made my night watching Ferry Corsten take the night to full swing right before my very eyes.

Having him as part of my wallpapers for the past year and now seeing him in the flesh?

Indescribable. 'Nuff said.

Take it away Ferry!

Watch him roll!

Ferry upped our party-mood way off the ground as he blasted his popular mixes 'Punk', 'Feel It', 'Holding On' and 'Into the Dark'

Don't stop! The party enthusiasts haven't gotten enough of being merry with Ferry just yet

Ferry Corsten at the turntable

Closest photo of mine with Ferry

Thanks for the photos Ed! :D

Drop the bass & watch us rave!

Hey, it's not every day you get a world-class DJ performing for you.

But World #18 DJ Ferry Corsten is right here, right now. So ya better bask in his house & trance beats!

My partypeeps for the night :)

Pammy & I again

What's that Ferry? You want a toast with your people of tonight? :D

Why, gladly!

CHEERS!

*clink*

Wheeeeeee!

Now where ma party peoples at! :D

Thanks for a great night Ferry!

The pleasure is all ours.

Keep up the good job in bringing international acts & world class titans of the music industry, Zouk!

You certainly know how to make your party people happy campers every night don'tchall? :D

We be dubstepping rooftop high with Skream & Benga LIVE in Malaysia! NSFW Tracksuit Party @ Vertigo, The Gardens

Saturday, February 4th, 2012

As a regular at rave parties and the like, it never occurred to me that I've never attended a dubstep party before.

All the raves I've been to revolved around trance, techno, electro, house, hardstyle or a medley of them all.

But not dubstep.

Until tonight.

Part of ze clan and I

It was the night of 2 prominent Dubstep pioneers-cum-producers

Their time to shine…hailing all the way from United Kingdom :

None other than Skream and Benga themselves!

Tonight's gonna be a good, good night indeed.

We be raving to the most anticipated Dubstep party and…

…the other half finally landed in Malaysia!

The boys from Budculture and Cee X H3 soundsystem opened with a bass-dropping set!

They drove the crowd wild – yours truly & the clan included!

Tonight was the first time we ever raved in a different way

Heaps of popping, locking, dropping, shuffling, stomping and tectonic moves as well!

This calls for more, are you with me? :D

We gurls be rippin' the dance floor! :D :D

Keep it going boys! Wub wub wub wub wubbbbbbb

Ze clan and I had a smashing time.

Pictures are self-explanatory :)

Buddy Pam and I

Raving to towards a whole new dimension!

And it just never stops

OBEY… CEE! Such heavy dubstep warps the night into a Transformers battle

Autobots & Decepticons… major pwnage!

Sure, Fry. Sure.

The boyfie and I – our first time raving together IN MALAYSIA!

Imma show you how we Malaysians party… till the morning light!

And when the night strikes 1AM, Skream and Benga steals the limelight

Make way for these legends!

They shot the party to the skies the very moment they hit the decks

I've never, ever heard dubstep of all variants being performed right in fronta of my very eyes before.

Yup, I still had to digest the fact that Skream & Benga are here.. right here on our Malaysian soil.

Sucha durrrty durrrty set!

Jump, jump, jump!

You are my cinema.. a Hollywood treasure

After what felt like hours of non-stop tectonic, crumping, popping, locking  and dropping to the heavy bass, synths and snares, Skream proceeded to escalate the party.

Quite literally, in fact.

Yup, he rose and stood on top of the DJ table while dubbing!

It was so wicked you have no idea!

We were closing our eyes, headbanging, gritting our teeth and let the insane beats take control

Before we knew it, something else happened outta the ordinary

Benga began to stage-dive & crowd-surfed all over the dance floor

And many others followed suit (like this guy above)

WHEN I SAY SKREAM

YOU SAY BENGA

SKREAM!!!

BENGA!

SKREEEAM….!!

BENGAAA!!!!!

I had a fan-dubstep-tic time.. it goes without saying!

SKREEEAM….!!

BENGAAA!!!!!

Raising the bar of Dubstep music even higher.

Give it up for Skream and Benga!

I'm sure all the other revellers of the night can agree with me

My first time raving to Dubstep proved to be a helluva epic night.

ENCORE!!!

Speaking of which, ze clan and I are gonna be heading to OMFG Saturday @ Barsonic tonight.

Bring it on Mr. Nasty, GanjaGuru and the rest of the bass agents!

ZoukOut 2011 featuring DJ Chuckie, Avicii + Armin Van Buuren! Siloso Beach @ Sentosa Island, Singapore

Monday, January 23rd, 2012

I know this is probably a month late but I kept having more and more things to blog about that Zouk Out completely slipped my mind! Pardon me… teehee!

So yeah, as expected, ZoukOut 2011 was an absolute wicked one.

Probably just as good as last year celebration of 10 years of ZoukOut, aka Zouk10ut if not better!

My gurls and I

So before we entered the main Siloso Beach of where ZoukOut '11 was to be held, the whole lot of us decided to dive straight into our own party. Pre-drinks at the adjacent beach.

Don't know what beach it is but it sure worked for us :D

Chilling at the bench during pre-drinks

I miss my Aussieguest Carly :(

Come back to Malaysia soon!

Venessa and I

ZoukOut once more hey? ;)

Take two! :D

We finished the bottle in a jiffy

We made friends with ol' McDonald from Detroit, USA!

Chugged my last glass in the water

Alright, that's a wrap!

Now that we're all pumped up, hyper and tipsy, it's time to adjourn for ZoukOut

Where the party began 4 hours ago!

Just three enthusiastic partylovers amongst hordes of  many others!

Correction: FOUR!

Correction: FIVE!

Correction: SEVEN!

And the number just kept growing

Once we entered, we started running helter skelter, exploring what this year's Zouk Out has to offer

Mostly the same good food, good things on sale and heaps of freebies up for grabs!

Went to the Havaianas outlet

Played with the giant inflatable flip-flop!

Bumped into an old friend, Adelyn :)

And a few others too – Danny and Charlene

See, we Penangites came all the way from the north for this yo ;)

After all the exploring and fun, we escaped to grab a bite of the nearest yummy food possible

Headed off to Mcdonalds!

Where I impulsively bought a slurpee cup with a red bikini on it :O

DOESN'T MATTER, HAD FOOD!

With our satiated tummies, we marched back to where the party's at, ZoukOut '11 awaits us

I've made a video compilation of my ZoukOut 2011 experience, watch out for it at the end of this post!

Got to the main stage pretty early to secure our spots

DJ Simon Dunmore was playing at that time

Raving with my buddies! Ze clan and I

Party vibe is building slowly! :D

Squeeeeee! Carly piggybacked me :D

Bumped into another Penangite, my old friend Sabrina :)

At last year's ZoukOut, I came to watch my 3 fave stars in 2010's line-up: Tiesto, David Guetta and Afrojack

This year, I came fully anticipating DJ Chuckie, Avicii and Armin Van Buuren

and……. DJ CHUCKIE IS UP! :D

WHO IS READY TO JUMP? :D

There were fireworks blasting across the sky as we partied!

DJ Chuckie kickstarted his set with a remix of Daft Punk's 'Around the World' and was playing various EDM tracks of his own including remixing those by David Guetta, Rihanna, Swedish House Mafia, Benny Benassi and more.

There were beer showers everywhere too!

His 2 hour set was pretty radical, I must say. I enjoyed watching DJ Chuckie's facial expressions too; they were so animated and at some parts comical! :D He also really knew how to work the crowd.

And then… it rained not confetti, not streamers… BUT GLITTER (Blimey, I actually thought it was sand!)

NEXT UP, GUESS WHO'S CRUNKING UP THE LEVELS AT 3AM?

Nobody else comes close to these nasty levels… IT'S AVICII! :D

Got up to Level Two so fast that I had to blink twice before confirming that it was indeed 2 white girls

holding up the Malaysian flag while screaming AAAAAAAAAVIIIIIIIICIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!

So proud of my country's flag but then again, wait.. what? Malaysian flag? White girls? Avicii?

Am I missing something here?

Avicii's 2 hour set was stellar, just as I had imagined it to be

DJ SPIN THAT SH!T!

He shot the party to the skies the moment he appeared on the decks with 'Fade into Darkness' as his opening song before proceeding to his other popular tracks like 'Sunshine', 'Swede Dreams', 'Hello Miami', 'Freedom' and more.

The young Swede and rising starlet Avicii (aka Tim Berg) also remixed popular favorites like David Guetta's 'Titatium', Diddy's 'Coming Home', Nadia Ali & Alex Kenji's 'Pressure', Tiesto's 'Escape Me', Coldplay's 'Waterfall' and others.

While raving, the gigantic, transparent beach ball landed on our heads!

Ohhhhh~ Sometimes, I gotta good feeling

YEEEEEAH~

The feeling was surreal when Avicii played his debut 'Levels' right there and then.

To see 'Levels' playing LIVE RIGHT BEFORE MY EYES BY AVICII HIMSELF was unlike any other.

Everyone else in the crowd could relate; they were just as euphoric as I was!

Major love fo my gurls for the awesome company!

Sex dolls were flying everywhere.

Heck well, naked blow-up dolls, more of. They sure looked like sex dolls to me LOLOL

At 5am sharp, something bigger was coming our way.

Already almost at the crack of dawn, there was no sign of stopping us ravers from welcoming the World #1 trance legend for several years in a row, ARMIN VAN BUUREN! :D :D :D

It started off with a big bang

He greeted his fans and loyal revellers with arms wide open!

Nothing could bring me down.

T'was amazing to finally rave to Armin Van Buuren LIVE and seeing him in the flesh after following his 'A State of Trance' (ASOT) episodes and yearmixes. *swoons*

OHMY. YES IT IS ARMIN. 3 METRES IN FRONTA ME

Ohmylord. Armin was so charming that night.. not to mention unbelievably talented too

When he spun Cosmic Gate feat. Emma Hewit's 'Be Your Sound', the crowd shut their eyes, jumped and traversed into an uplifting state of trance. :D:D

It was absolutely food for the soul

Bursts of confetti (and glitter!) were everywhere

More fireworks came in abundance too!

I recognized the songs from his yearmixes.. nothing beats hearing it LIVE.

The beach ball kept bouncing up and down amongst the crowd!

Rave it up, rave it good till the morning light!

He played till the sun came up

Now, here's my video montage of ZoukOut 2011 through my eyes :)

Experience it visually, embrace it and make sure I see you at this year's rave beach party of the year

ENJOY!

Only a true rave begins outdoors with thousands of people, rising its temperature with triple the amount of people and ends waaaaayy past the sunrise :D :D

Every year, ZoukOut is a true pinacle of a rave party. ZoukOut 2012, we shall meet again
