Fashion, music n’ fun! The Underground Dominants of Project UNDO @ The Opera, Sunway

Friday, December 31st, 2010

One rainy afternoon on a Thursday, I made my way to Project UNDO.

LOL the tagline was something that goes along the lines of "too little time, too much to undo"

So kinkeh!

Anyway, its a series of Underground events which involves fashion and music. (Don't ask me why it's underground. It got me scratching my head in confusion too) And the dress code was 'UNDERGROUND'.

And! I had no idea in hell how to dress 'underground' so I resorted to wearing earthy, brown and ground colours. Thankfully, I found the one and only brown top I own. Looks like brown had never been my colour huh :P

Yeah I was trying to look as brown and underground as possible.

Any browner and I'd turn into a mole or a pile of sand

Was there with my pals all the way from Penang and some of my gurls here! :D

We all had lotsa fun and was treated to lotsa booze at the VIP terrace upstairs on the 2nd floor.

If i remember correctly, there was Johnnie Walker black label, Glenmorangie and beers throughout the night!

By the sofas & balcony

By the drinks bar

Finally, the show began. It took a good long 2 hours to start after its scheduled time.

The party was to begin at 7pm but it only began somewhere after 9pm. Grr! But issokay, good company and drinks kept us busy anyway

Cassandra Patrick was the MC while violinist Arthur Tan started the ball rolling for the night

Magic Show! See that girl lying on top of the sharp point? Insane.

Sorry fo overexposed shot but that's Rosen Roy the magician/illusionist in red

She could totally be a devotee for Thaipusam while she's at it, since needles and spears don't seem to hurt her.

Anyway, here's our view from the top terrace :)

Fashion show began and it showcased classic collections and some pretty unique pieces from local designers like Jimmy Lim, Joe Chia, Alexandrea Yeo, Allien Gan and MNEP :)

The gambit was instead of playing the same old "catwalk tracks" while the models are strutting down the runway, Project Underground saw local pop/punk/rock bands playing live for all of us.

Local punk rock outfit, An Honest Mistake!

And that's my friend Leonard playing right in front.

Can't believe he spontaneously followed suit and "catwalked" with the models as well LOLOL :P

More and more performers took the stage and they were local DJs DJ Nas T and DJ Tareeq, Scottish DJ Dayshavoo, local rock band Underheadlights and 19 year old beatboxer Koujee.

Camwhoring and partying continues!

A tad off-focused but memorable all the same

We left somewhere past midnight.

It was a working day tomorrow yo! Can't stay up too late.

And just before I left, bumped into Andy at the doorway, and he took a shot of us.

One for the road babeh!

That was how my Thursday working weeknight was spent…. at Project UNDO!

My FIRST Twitter war- #malaysiacheatlaser | Malaysia vs. Indonesia @ AFF Suzuki Cup football match

Monday, December 27th, 2010

Edit!

CONGRATULATIONS MALAYSIA!!

HARIMAU MUDA MALAYA BEATS GARUDA INDONESIA

4 – 2 ON AGGREGATE AND BRINGS HOME THE TROPHY!

:D :D :D :D

WELCOME HOME CHAMPIONS OF THE SUZUKI CUP

You've done us proud. Good game too, Indonesians!

——————————–

So alright, I was never a fan of fighting publicly on Twitter.

Reason being, fights should remain private and not put up on the World Wide Web to see.

Hence, I never ever chose to do it.

Closest I've ever been was some very subtle yet snide remarks or sarcasm but nothing too substantial to warrant a fight.

UNTIL. Last night. This was no personal affair.

Malaysia played against Indonesia in the AFF Suzuki Cup during the 1st leg final in our National Stadium, Bukit Jalil and beat them to a beautiful score of 3 – 0. Just like my fellow Malaysian citizens, I was rooting for my country all the way for our victory and cheering for them on Twitter despite the bitter accusations that our neighbouring country threw at us.

They made #malaysiacheatlaser a worldwide trending topic even.

What started it was when someone replied me on Twitter so childishly and not only insulted me, but my nation as well

and many other tweets which I can't seem to find now.

They've probably deleted it -___-

Thanks very much to some of my tweeples on Twitter for the support and those who backed up my responses.

Here are tweets from other people -

Allow me to reiterate that our Malaysian footballers scored 3 goals while playing fair and square ON THE FIELD.

They had nothing to do with some childish, dimwitted and juvenile Malaysian fans at the stadium playing with laser lights. In fact, our goals gradually scored one after another AFTER half time.

CLEARLY, after the lasers have already stopped by then.

However, I am ashamed of those handful of Malaysian fans who played with laser pointers. It was a distracting and ignorant thing to do.

BUT

Also for your kind information, an Indonesian news source, Tribunnews, has reported that the Indonesian fans also did use and point their laser lights at our Malaysian goalkeeper. Looks like we're equal now.

Ramli Mohammad Sharbinee being pointed at by the laser beam

Check it out here, if you can read Bahasa Indonesia.

Oh and here are some of my tweets from last night as well -

Just for the record and to all my Indonesian readers out there, I have nothing against Indonesia nor Indonesians at all. :) In fact, I've many Indonesian friends in university and have an Indonesian maid at home whom I love dearly

Football is a competitive sport, but not meant to cause such a ruckus :(

See you in Jakarta, at the 2nd leg held in Gelora Bung Karno Stadium. All the best to Harimau Malaya and Garuda Indonesia

Here's to hoping that fans of both nations drop their lightsabers! :P

May the best team win.

Christmas is here! Merry merry Guinness with love from TheJessicat.com | Malones @ Sooka Sentral, KL

Saturday, December 25th, 2010

Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas everybody!

To those who are also celebrating, I hope you had a fantastic Christmas dinner with your family last night :)

I sure did!

Anyway, apart from the tradition of celebrating with TheFockers every year, imma share with you my first Christmas party of 2010!

All thanks to Guinness! :D :D

So yeah.. a few weeks back, I was invited for Guinness' first series of Merry Guinness christmas dinners. This was held at Malone's Irish Restaurant & Bar in Sooka Sentral, adjacent to KL Sentral, Malaysia.

I arrived on location and saw the elaborately decorated dining tables and Christmas set-up all ready for the evening

Pretty, ain't it? :)

Candy canes and candy red Christmas stockings!

Snowmen, Gingerbreadmen, Beermen… oops I meant mini beer bottles!

and ermm.. ballmen? :P

But what made a better evening was the company of the warm friends and familiar faces :) :)

There was so much merriment in the haus and so much Guinness to go around… it's free-flow babeh!

Jingle bells! :D

Walking further in, I spotted the traditional Christmas tree.

No Christmas party is complete without the evergreen coniferous tree! It's a pity we only have the artificial ones here in Malaysia :(

Unlike in the movies where daddy puts on his galoshes and goes to the woods

to chop down this tree and brings it back home for Christmas! :D

After lots of mingling around over glasses and glasses of frothy ice-cold Guinness draught, the Christmas dinner was about to be officiated!

Welcoming all of us to the event :)

Are you ready to see what was served, guys? :D

It was in such a dramatic manner! The black curtains fell right after he gave his short speech and revealed this sumptuous feast!

Now, that's what I call a table of gastronomic heaven!

Splendid! :D

Especially over a pint of Guinness *clinks glass

So yup, those are the food :)
In fact, that's only half of what was actually served that night!

And this is me looking all gluttony

there were macarons, stollen cakes, foie gras, beef stroganoff and so much more I don't even remember!

Try asking my stomach, she'll prolly recall better :P

There was also an action station for turkey slicing and cranberry sauce!

Oooh the yums. Talking about it makes me miss the turkey already.

Please sir, may I have some more? :P Oliver Twist lolol.

While we were devouring our hearty meals, there was a live band that played for us all! :)

They were singing lots of Christmas songs – ranging from the traditional ones to the more modern ones

i personally loved Guinness' version of the !2 Days of Christmas

'cos it had something to do with fried chicken wings haha

And that's not all!

We were enticed to a magic show, which involved fire-eating, finger chopping, tangled knots and more

The Magician was showing Andrew how it was supposed to be done

Soon they had a Q&A session where 5 limited edition Guinness miniature bottles were given out as prizes.

It even dated all the way back to 1974! :D :D

Tied so neatly with a black ribbon, I wished they were mine!

So I decided to join the Q&A. Hmm…the questions I could remember were -

How many pints of Guinness are served everyday?

What is the actual color of Guinness?

What is the name of Guinness' christmas event?

Well, my question was simple. So I managed to answer it correctly!

I absolutely love the antique bottles for my stash. It fits perfectly in my collection of alco :)

Yuenny won herself a set of these babies too!

Adorable much?

I think she answered the color of Guinness question. The correct answer is Ruby Red! :) (Yes it's not black, contrary to popular belief)

Here's a shot of my swag, courtesy of Guinness!

There's also another Guinness glass inside the paper bag,

'Who dreams of a white Christmas?' Tshirt, a Santa Hat and more!

I'll be wearing the Santa Hat for my family Christmas dinner tomorrow

Do you see that place mat which reads 'Have a Merry Guinness' above?

If you open it, it's actually a board game!! I'm SO going to bring it back home to play with thefockers tonight.

Bloggers playing the Guinness board game!

It's very much like snakes & ladders, only more exciting, Guinness draughts instead of snakes

and players require a good liver :P :P

We're getting shot on film!

Guinness even made a bloggers video edition of Merry Guinness wishes and the party!

My Guinness moments :D :D

With frosty the snowman too!!!!

Of good food, catching up with good friends, good fun and festive air :)

I had fun celebrating my Christmas the Guinness way. Heads up! Merry Guinness promos are held in various outlets around the Klang Valley and other parts of Malaysia as well.

This coming Monday, I will be dining at Finnegan's Pub in Changkat BB for an Irish Christmas Dinner by Guinness. Can't wait! Will be bringing along one lucky person with meeeee :)

Do grab a pint of Guinness and enjoy the rest of your party!

Merry Christmas again and enjoy the rest of your holiday fellas

with love ,

Jess

It’s a party in the USA! One night at #7aste New York @ Hex & Mayfair, Damansara Perdana

Friday, December 24th, 2010

I've always wanted to go to New York city… who doesn't love the Big Apple?

And I finally managed to!

Was greeted to this as I entered Hex & Mayfair.

Even the security guards dressed like the ones in NYC does!

Okay so i didn't really jet set to New York city, it traveled to me instead :P

When I saw the mock Statue of Liberty on the photowall, I grinned to myself. Can't wait to see the one in real life!

Also, who parties alone? Here are some of my pals whom I brought along with me to the event :D

The more is always the merrier, I introduce you to :

My girls Kelly and Jessyca

Buddy Zhao

Homie and now neighbour Ceddy!

The dude behind my pretty Blackberry, Eric!

So when we got there, Zhao and I proceeded to the VIP zone to get our drinks to start off the night.

The cocktails available from this bar were Manhattan and Cosmopolitan!

I loved the Cosmopolitan as it was made with Vodka, Triple Sec and Cranberry Juice

But I found the Manhattan a tad too strong for my liking. Maybe something for the guys instead! :D

We then watched the bartender flarring and doing his thang to make all these yummy concoctions for us.

Apart from free-flow of cocktails, we had our passport to free flow of ice-cold beer too

Also claimed my bottle of Jack Daniels. Thanks 7aste!

Gonna open it for my farewell party with all the buddies before I fly off to Australia in February

I love how parties bring people together over an array of fabulous drinks.

Bumped into more friends here! Some more piccies I'd like to share -

with the newly-shaven head, Andy!

I hope you donated your hair to charity :P

With the boys Jeremy, Leonard and Bryan :D So glad we ain't late!

'Cos we came directly from Ogilvy PR digital influencer's makan session.

In between the two Erics! :D :D

There were lotsa performances happening onstage.

Comedian Harith Iskandar was there to tickle everyone's funny bone. I didn't really go up to the front to snap pics of him cos there were too many people and that I was too engrossed in the free-flow of drinks and catching up with people around me!

Lotsa fun and drinks to go around

Oh and actually, I didn't know what to wear for this event!

I reckon the theme is New York city dress code but then again, what do the New Yorkers wear? They are mostly made up of urbanites in contemporary wear, or so I think! :D So I just wore whatever I had that personifies that LOL

Double Iconic Ring by Soak Republic, Black rose ring a gift from classmate Jody,

White fedora from Topshop, Lycra spaghetti strap top from MNG,

Wide black clincher from Forever 21, High-waisted motif skirt from River Island

Can pass-lah for tonight. haha :P

with the girls at our table!

With Tom, from Netherlands babeh!

All I can think about in Holland is not tulips nor windmills, but their space cakes huhuhu :P

Suddenly, I heard some beatboxing bass booming from the speakers.

All I can think about is, hey.. is Shawn here? Haven't seen him in a while! :D

And true enough. It was! :)

Heard some new "tracks" from him too.

With Shawn after his performance. Was surprised that his hair looks real different now.

It's nicer all done up liddat dood! :D

Camwhored again with ma gurls.

Which reminds me, I haven't blogged the full post on Zouk Out yet! :P Soon soon!

There were lots of tapas food to go around.

The most popular one that night was the fine crust pizza!

Nom nom!

(forgive the bright blue eyeshadow. I think it's hideous as well)

Was trying on a new shade and couldn't be bothered to remove it. and no, I don't like Avatar or Smurf characters.Looks like blue is never and will never be my thing. But at least the blue matches my blue skirt with swatches of purple.

Mikey gets all red as usual LOL

It was already past 12 am, but the drinks never stopped!

Bottles poppin' till we can't stand~

We keep it rockin' till 6am~

New york to london over to japan~

Turn it up turn it up mash it up~

We gonna party like~

Party like, like it's the end of the world!

Grabbin our last bottle with Kevin (also the MC of tonight)! :D

Had a great time in 7aste, New York. NYC, I'm coming for you! Hmm.. wonder what it has in store for me when I go there one day!
