My new Egyptian wrist tattoo! Welcoming the 3rd addition to the family… and counting!

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Alrightey!

Thanks to those of you who have requested to see my new tattoo which I had done yesterday, there you go! :D

Okay this baby of mine will be my 3rd. In case you didn't know, my 1st was done in 2006 which is a tribal design of hearts on my lowerback, my 2nd was done in 2008 which is a winged cat on my left shoulderblade.

And this one… will be an Egyptian horus eye.

Okay here are some videos of the process!

Watch only if you ain't weak hearted :P

10seconds of the outline being done!

10seconds of the shading being done!

Don't ask me the reason WHY I chose all those designs. Because in fact, none of them bears any meaning to me. I know it's subjective that some people opt to tattoo themselves because it signifies something and some people don't.

Well, sorry wrong number – I don't as well.

Because to me, art doesn't need a meaning. Why should it? If it bears a meaning, then the aesthetic purposes of art would not be a meaning centered artifact by itself anymore. It will become

Reason instead – and not Imagination.

Yeah and halfway through, I just remembered the drive that propelled me to do this tattoo today. I'm turning 21 tomorrow! :)

So well, I guess that can be validated as a REASON. LOL A milestone, more of.

I personally am a ardent fan of body art, so that should be enough to justify why I like tattoos as well. And if you must know, Kat Von D is my idol! I used to watch Miami Ink/L.A Ink every night when it airs on MTV and marvel at some of the designs!

She's one plucky woman! Though I would never be as heavily tattoo-ed as her due to the constraints of the Asian norms for women, I do enjoy indulging in the pain when i feel like it.

Oh btw, his name is Saudi. He's a Pinoy and he's fab at what he does! :)

Don't know why but, why do all tattoo artists look the same?

My previous 2 artists had the similar look too. With long hair and heavily tattoo-ed arms with nipple piercings!

The face you see is a mask.

I'm honestly not enjoying myself!!! AAUUUUGHHHH

Trust me, the pain is addictive! :D :D

But at some points when the pain gets a tad more unbearable, you can try to distract yourself!!

It's funny when it hits near the vein or the bone because it makes you jolt upright and go – YIKES!! WHAT ON HOLY MOTHER EARTH WAS THAT!?? OUCH!

Cry of the wild! LOL just kidding.

If you ask me, of course it's painful. All 3 of my tattoos were. But I guess, no pain no gain yo!

If you don't feel any pain, you're either totally on crack or your pain threshold is that of Ironman.

Sitting there for so long makes you actually numb. When I was finally done, I honestly didn't wanna budge at all.

Can I just stay here?

Much thanks to Ven for the company, helping me video the prcoess and take pictures for me

Love you gal :)

In just a few hours, it will be the 1st of July once again. Finally, I will be hitting the legal age! I guess this is a birthday present I'm giving myself.

After all, you only turn 21 once! In fact you turn your age only once LOL but still, twenty-one is a big number. So…. this is for you Jess! :D :D

Happy Burpday! May you stay rebellious as always.

Love, me.

Guess who’s back again with a red-head for the 7th time?

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Finally!

It's frustrating to know that red hair dye pigments aren't exactly very permanent ones, heck I would know, did it red for a total of 7 times already! It's one tough hairstyle to maintain and not to mention expensive too *sigh*

But it's all worth it :D

am loving it

If you've been following my tweets yesterday, ya'll would know that I'm back to being a red-head again :D

Okay, some of you asked me questions about my red hair and how I maintain it.. etc etc

Well, here are the answers :

1. Where can I find a place to do my hair red like yours?

You can just do it anywhere, but opt for the ones with permanent red pigments. I've trusted that for 4 years and its the longest lasting one (buzz me if you want to know the brand)

2. Can I just do it red (from the box) at home?

No one's stopping you. It's for a fraction of the salon price but unless you're a bleached blonde, it ain't gona work on your Asian head, honey.

One of my besties Cedric, dubbed me an Aluminium Bitch + Lady Gagak LOL

3. How often do you do your hair red?

Twice a year :) (both damaging to my pocket blahh)

4. How much does it cost?

Approximately RM500. If you say I've been ripped off, screw you. Sure, I can do it for RM200 or less but it won't last as long and your hair will be more prone to damage without proper treatment. It IS very drying on the hair and chemicals were never your best friend from the start

5. Do you bleach it before getting it red?

No, I never believe in bleaching. If you do it often enough it WILL turn chilly red by itself.

Fooling around at the hair salon

6. How do you maintain the red hair?

I use two shampoos whenever I wash my hair – one is to enhance the colour and the other is to lock the color in. (again, buzz me if you want to know the brand) After shampooing, I use a color reflective conditioner to protect it from damaging weather conditions i.e sun

7. Does the red hair color fade?

DUH. Nothing lasts forever babe. And I wouldn't have to do it 7 times if it never faded in the first place! :D

8. Why do you choose to do red?

Simply because it's visually arresting and no doubt my favorite color. Bet you can tell by the color of this blog anyway ;)

I totally felt like walking past the other hair salon which totally cheated me of my money.

I told them I wanted chilly red and even pointed to a few red items in sight, like their Chinese lanterns and 'Welcome' carpet for instance. Those morons told me they knew exactly what I wanted and I had nothing to worry about.

When it was finally done. I looked like a fig tree. My hair was quite damaged and the color? Not even the least bit close to red. They didn't even have the decency to apologize nor refund. Instead, kept insisting it was red.

What, if you're not colour blind nor have eyeballs hinderd with severe cataract, you're definitely not fooling anyone but your unprofessional self mind you.

DO NOT GET CHEATED BY UNORTHODOX HAIR STYLISTS!

Always go for the established ones or at least, the ones you trust.

Anything else you wanna know? Just spill and I'll be happy to answer them for you.

Check out my post writen last year about having it done red. And no, I don't do any other colour besides red :)

Till then, hope you like it just as much as I do!

Cos it's here to stay at least for the next 6 months haha!

:D :D

For those not in the know, Urbanscapes is an annual all-day creative arts festival, which celebrates all things artsy-fartsy! From performing arts, fine art, modern art, music, lifestyle, retail and practically EVERYTHING that spells fun!

You should totally check out what I blogged on last year's Urbanscapes '09.

I was an Urbanscapes virgin back then, not anymore! :D

So what exactly kept me occupied throughout the whole day this time?

I shopped like a rockstar, ate like a porkchop (no, wait. Porkchops can't eat), relaxed on the grass by the lake with ma buddies, photographed almost everything that caught my eye, watched so many fun performances and more!

Dug out lotsa cute goodies in so many blogshops!

In total, I spent 4 hours shopping in each and every blogshop store at their 'marketplace' zone including those of Tongue In Chic's.

2 hours were spent eating *exorbitantly priced* lunch, tea and dinner within the vicinity.

Another 3 hours were spent exploring the entire grounds within Urbanscapes and checkin' out creative display booths and such!

The remaining 1 hour was well, spent idling, sitti and taking breathers with the rest.

This is the wooden house that 300+ people managed to carry all the way here!

It took them 3hours and although they encountered lotsa obstacles mid way, they made it

Promise the full coverage on Urbanscapes tomorrow! Need to hit the sack now, hehe. :D Heading to IKEA for lunchie early with a buddy tomorrow

Mwah!
