My 1st visit to My Body Secrets in Kota Damansara! YES I think I’m FAT

Tuesday, March 30th, 2010

I’m so FAT! Yeah, like… fat with excess babyfat and love handles showing in all the wrong places. T___T *sniff* Okay, I know every girl complains that they’re fat even IF they’re not.

I know this FAT issue applies to almost everyone who ain’t too satisfied with their body.

Unfortunately, I’m dissatisfied as well (don’t worry, I’m faaar from 45KG btw)

However, if I were to attempt to enter The Biggest Loser Asia reality TV show, I wouldn’t even qualify. But that’s beside the point! It would be ideal if I could shed off some weight and bust away some fat to complement my frame.

Body wellness, health and a balanced diet – that’s all it takes to stay fit and slim, right?

But again, unfortunately, many of us fail to achieve our desired weight/body shape.

How many of you made New Year Resolutions to lose weight every year, but never accomplish it?

RAISE YOUR HANDS NOW!

I used to be gym junkie back in 2007. For those of you who have been following this blog since then, would already know! I ate healthily, avoided suppers, hit the gym often and worked out every day.

If you didn't see me at home, you can find me in the gym

Yup, that was how active I was in working out!

But when I moved to KL, my world crashed! T__T

I never found the time to maintain that lifestyle anymore, as I will be swamped with work in the night and day, hence would frequently be exhausted by the end of the day to even lift my ass to the gym.

THAT EXPLAINS HOW AN EXTRA 10KG FOUND ITS WAY TO ME

It's depressing to have put on so much weight!

But something else had also found its way to me *beams in delight* … A total body wellness center called My Body Secrets! Their flagship store is located in the heart of the busy Kota Damansara and they’re fab in getting to the bottom of our overweight issues! By identifying every individual’s unique biological traits and respond to our body needs first.

I got there for the 1st time on one rainy night and thankfully, there was ample parking

The aromatic sent in the centre was indeed invigorating as I stepped into My Body Secrets for the 1st time. Greeted by 2 friendly (and pretty!) staff, they showed me to a pretty glass room. I was then served rose tea while they took some notes about my eating habits, sleep cycle and lifestyle in general.

They took my measurements and weighed me (I HATED THIS PART – MOMENT OF TRUTH YO).

Initially, I was very self-conscious and dared not bare myself entirely to them. But they were very accommodating, patient and made me feel that there was nothing to be ashamed about! But I shan’t tell you the exact weight okay! :P :P

When the entire results were tabulated, I was told that my intended goal was just to lose 5KG of fat and tone up. That’s such a relief! I was initially thinking 20KG LOL (yes, that’s how fat I think I am)

Sweet!

Soon after, the boss of My Body Secrets – Ms. Ruby Chua, sat down to have a lil consultation session with me. I liked her approach and guidance in this whole health oriented journey I’m embarking on. She made me feel very at ease and even mentioned that I don’t need to go on an extreme (and sad!) diet to lose weight. I can still continue being a normal human being with normal eating craves, like Ice-Cream or Char Koay Teow – as long as I eat them in moderation and know WHEN to eat it.

She then recommended which treatment/session that they were going to do for me and also requested that I send her my everyday meal plans (so she can roughly monitor my eating patterns) Such conviction! That’s what all health junkies should be like

I explored the bathroom and mirror area too :D

It was really well decorated and spacious

So yeah, my first week went very well. They make sure I am disciplined enough to come at least twice a week! I had a very pleasant and ticklish experience on my 1st day, it was some sort of massager thingy which gives you a feeling of being pressed, rubbed and kneaded where your fats accumulate!

Wheee! It was a  relaxingly firm massage

The 2nd day was a different one altogether! I was wrapped up like a mummy and covered with a heat blanket .Gosh! I was really drenched in my own sweat maximus! It shows I have active sweat glands haha. It’s always good to perspire, cos it rids your body of unnecessary toxins!

I felt like SuperGirl all wrapped up in shiny cling wrap & oiled down with Ginseng Oil

The lovely gals at My Body Secrets kept reminding me to drink lotsa water to replenish my water loss after the session lest I dehydrate. Yes madam!

Oh and guess what dearies? I’m giving away a few vouchers that entitles you to a FREE body treatment worth RM388! Yes don’t worry, it’s not only for chicks… the fellas can have fat issues too right? Beer bellies, begone! Fat thighs and jiggly arms away!

Just tell me why you want it and it’s yours to try for yourselves and experience it if you don’t believe how awesome they are

Camwhoring when I was changing into my robes

Anyways, in my fat nutshell, I would definitely say I enjoyed my first week. There’s no need for all those extreme dieting, strenuous exercise and sweltering saunas when you have My Body Secrets. Rest assured that they get you to lose your excess weight healthily.

Can’t wait to see what’s in store for me on my 2nd week there!

Happy Birthday Zouk KL! 6th Anniversary Bash – Mad Hatter’s Party!

Saturday, March 27th, 2010

Whoa. Time really passes fast, doesn't it? Zouk has already been standing for 6 years – and still going strong!

Being a very seasoned clubber, I'd expect every party night to be the same ol' same ol'. But the moment I clubbed in Zouk on my first time, I never turned back to other clubs for a guaranteed night of mayhem! :D The blend of music, the discoteque laser beams and lights, the high-profile DJs, the party people and of course, their astounding 5 divisions altogether - Aristo, Barsonic, Phuture, Velvet Underground and the Mainroom

and on their 6th birthday, it was a blast from Alice in Wonderland

THE MAD HATTER'S THEME PARTY

I brought a date along with the VIP invitation I received, it was none other than the Boyfie! :D Sure, you don't see him very often in this blog because we live 400 Kilometres apart but today you will! So bear with our series huge-ass photos incoming! Don't say I didn't warn ya! :P

Dressed with a hat – to follow the flow of the Mad Hatter's theme!

There were lotsa peeps in really fancy & mad hats, but there were some with none. So I guess, we come in between? Hehe. Yes, I don't have insane headgears stored in my wardrobe waiting for me to wear them to Mad Hatter-themed parties!

We got there pretty early, but the crowd was already beginning to form. Thank goodness we didn't arrive at midnight! Or else we would be devoid of parking spaces and will have to brace throngs of party people. Because practically everyone was there at Zouk! That's the only one place everyone would wanna bust that night away!

Everyone's lookin' so fine tonight :D

Spotted the Red Queen there too! I hope she doesn't go yelling, "OFF WITH HER HEEAAAADDDDD!!!" after taking a picture with them :D Well.. let's just see if she does!

As expected, she did! :( :( *runs away*

Oh and bangles I'm wearing for this occasian are from accessories extraordinaire – Soak Republic! Check them out, they have accessories and bags for every occasion! :D The ones I wore today is shiny gold & black bangle with Egyptian motives and another one is a brass circular bangle in gold!

Pretty funky, no? :) Gotta love 'em!

After chilling and grooving in Velvet for quite a bit, Boyfie and I danced the night away in Phuture with some of the rest. Had good fun! :D Oh and, I met a reader too… nice of her to come up and say Hi! I know you're reading this as we speak, I'd like to say it was nice meeting you babe! Stumbled into Sharon too while dancing :D

Bumped into a few ex-colleagues, old friends, former club-kakis and a whole lot of other people. I guess it's safe to say that THIS is where the party's at tonight! :D So… where ma party at? :D :D

Bustin' it at the dance floor

Me in a pink teacup! Hee. :D :D I had short bursts of childhood thrill playing in the garden filled with huge toadstool mushrooms, vibrant flowers, top hats and cars! The decor and set-up was really likened to the movie – Alice in Wonderland. Well, that's practically the whole point of this themeparty! So it better be good :D

Happy 6th Birthday once again Zouk!

xoxo, Jess

Tweet. Meet. Give! Twestival KL 2010 in Starbucks, Tropicana City Mall!

Friday, March 26th, 2010

So it was the day where Tweeples from all over KL come together to tweet, meet and give over hot cuppa Starbucks coffee! There was a heavy downpour but that wouldn't stop us all from making Twestival KL come to life now, would we? :D

Cocurrently, Twestival SG was having their celebrations too. Watch the power of social media users come together!

Anyhoozers, the traffic jams were merciless along Sprint Highway towards Starbucks, Tropicana City Mall.. and the rain? It didn't help either :( Most of us were stuck in the gridlock for an hour! Drats. But what kept me from complaining in the car was a wee bit of narcissism!

I tweetphoto-ed this piccie and the other Tweeples saw it. Gosh!

My moment of self-indulgence was broadcasted live in Starbucks cos I tagged it #twestivalKL

Which brings you to know that throughout the entire event, all the Tweets which was published with that hashtag was displayed live on the big screen. Haha upon reaching, @andygts made fun of me and deliberately asked me how the traffic jam was! Not funny! :(

With @andygts & @redsheep at the registration counter!

Lotsa Tweeples were already there! :D Early birds ey.. I bet you didn't get tangled up in the rainy traffic jam honking your frustrations away :( :(

Bumped into lotsa familiar faces, hugged, chitchatted and grabbed some nom-noms to munch on! We were served lotsa finger food – Blueberry Muffins, Raisined Muffins, Fruitcakes, assorted Sandwiches, pots and pots of black Starbucks coffee and the very sinful… SUGARY DONUTS!

My my they were lovely

But I had to put it down after 3 bites! :D :D *self-discipline*

Cheers to cups and cups of pure black coffee – sans the milk and sugar. You should've seen the look on our faces. Hey – it's a natural reaction! Only the hardcore coffee lovers would find love in that face-contorting drink :P :P

Coffee with @nicholaschay & @smashpop

Okayyy the coffee bit was over so we're smiling :P

After a short while of mingling, it was time for the auctions to begin! TwestivalKL has chosen auction-and-bids this time round, to raise funds for charity. Let the proceeds go to the needy while we dabble in some charitable fun :D

MCs @willsquah & @radiojules

Among the stuff that were put on auction were really cool Starbucks waterbottles, other special stuff like menial tasks and odd jobs, free domain + hosting, pole dancing classes and … COUGH 'prasan' stuff too. Yes, like auctioning dinner with you, dates for a flying kite session, a walk in the park and seriously, I can't remember each and everyone of it but it sure made me laugh!

@joycethefairy auctioned 2 hours of her time for dinner, shopping or

anything that "doesn't involve me and you in a hotel room" :D

I bid for pole dancing classes with a friend @aprilyim for RM110! Can anyone top that? Okay, RM120 from the other side of the room! And it goes on and on…. all for the sake of love & charity yo :D Don't be a scrooge!

I pole danced with her once before and omggwthbbqqqq

My arms and abs hurt the entire next day!! O__O

As the entire Starbucks were filled with so much laughter and chattering by so many Tweeples, crowds began to form outside and within its vicinity. I bet social media illiterates will probably go like… TWEETERRR??? WHADD IZ TAT? My dears, it's a revolution – a Socialnomic! :D

Pretty interesting ey! :D

*peeps*

Tweet. Meet. Give. Now that I've covered the giving part, let's get down to business shall we? :) :) The tweet and meet part! Woo hoo! I camwhored with most of my buddies and other familiar faces. If I've missed anyone out – sorry! I guess we didn't meet or didn't happen to take a photo together!

with buddies @bboyrice @serpentinegal @cincauhangus @sjwong

just noticed that @smashpop and I have the same mouth expression here LOL

and so much more! With @davidlian @wernshen @ramesstudios @smashpop @simonso @superwilson78

with long-time friend @malaysiaasia !

Had to take this piccie five thousand times before he was finally satisfied with it!

men. tsk tsk tsk :P :P

buddy @erinwong who arrived late – but still made it!

<3 her freshly dyed hair. Which reminds me.. I'm SO not used to my black hair.

I WANT BACK MY RED! *angers*

Haha @wernshen and his friends were playing some Magic trading card game :)

I told him that the closest I've ever been to these things were with Pokemon trading cards 10 years ago!

Camwhoring AGAIN with @serpentinegal & @cincauhangus :D

Funny that @mikecampton & I didn't quite recognize each other today!

He said my hairstyle was different and I said his hairstyle was different LOL

Which were both TRUE.

Soon after, a cacophony of thumping bass and other percussion musical instruments – of which some made out of everyday tools – were being played! Totally reminds me of a STOMP performance or a DrumcorpKL performance. :D :D

the players swiftly hitting their instruments!

They kept the crowd fixated at their deft movements and musically inclined tempo :D Heck, I even noticed some kids that were part of the band too! Cool. It's always great to start young. Child prodigies yo!

See the lil girl?

:D Awwwwwwwwwwwwwww

I had a relatively fun night, of good company and sugary-sweet food. Hope we Tweeples managed to raise a good portion of money for the needy! Oh and the night wouldn't be made possible without the sponsors too – Starbucks, ChurpChurp and DeRomp  !

Thanks fer making this day run smoothly!

Oh and for those of you who didn't catch me or we didn't manage to say Hi, because well probably you didn't see my Twitter handle/nickname on my chest… because I didn't put it there!

See you on Twitter fellas!

with love, @benjicajess

(will be changing my Twitter nickname to match my blog name soon)

Oh, and while we're on the subject, do check out my previous blogpost cover on last year's TwestivalKL held at Mist Club, Bangsar! That one was held in a much, much larger scale. :D :D

You turn left right up center, Mayflower’s super red hot in the MATTA Fair

Tuesday, March 23rd, 2010

Why would you even want to push and shove with the massive crowd in PWTC during the MATTA Fair? To be honest, I ain't a fan of thronging amongst sweaty and kiasu people in a crowded area.

Which is why I've chosen to go to Mayflower's forte at The Mall's concourse last Saturday!

Ta-da! They had the ENTIRE place to themselves!

Pretty smart, if you ask me :D

You know how the old skool method of putting footprint stickers on the pavement to guide you to a specific place doesn't exactly get noticed by the public eye? Okay.. so guess what they did?

No they didn't put signboard or arrows because that would be toooooo boring zzzzz

HAHHAH Sandwich mans walking all around the nearby streets

including the LRT skytrain stations!

Do not mistake him as a girl! Or so it says from behind :P :P

So what was there?

Lotsa people, as expected. Who would wanna miss out their chance of grabbing Mayflower's best holiday packages and deals which I've blogged about previously? I'm glad lotsa you emailed me to ask about the exact location and when would be the best time to be there and so on.

I know their whole arena was huge but..

hope you managed to book a holiday with them! :D

Be it a nature expedition somewhere in the hidden depths of the jungle

Or better – to a different country if you're more adventurous!

What I really liked about the day was that it was blazing red! ahh yes. If you loves have been following this blog long enough, it's plain to see that red is most certainly my favorite color. Heck, friends who have came over to my crib always tell me "Gosh Jess, your room is all red!"

Unfortunately, my room can never be as red as this!

Even the floors, clothes, walls and pillars were red

Look at all the Mayflower people above. All hustling and bustling about during the whole 3 day period of the MATTA Fair and the extra day of a special pre-sale for Maybank card holders. But most importantly the public gets to book all their travel destinations, accomodation & tours in time for the holiday season!

Yes yes uncle, I know you veli happy

SAY CHEESE!

But you'll be happier if you win something from the spinning wheel! This totally reminds me of the Wheel of Fortune – or the Malaysian version, 'Roda Impian' haha. Luck is of utmost importance here :D

Hope you guys actually manage to get your hands on something nifty!

But if Lady Luck is on your side, you'll get yourself a new smexy car from the lucky draws – the Grand Livina! This is really cool :D Imagine if i were to just dip my fingers into the bowl and out I pull the draw of that spanking new ride. I'd prolly take it out of the country for a roadtrip!

I would be more than thrilled!

So to the person out there who won it – CONGRATS!

*cries of bitter jealousy in the corner*

Oh and speaking of holidays outta the country, COUGH. This was taken when I was in the North Pole visiting Santa Claus and his elves :P :P

To those of you who think you know where this place actually is… try guessing! :P

Decisions ~ Decisions~ Which is more worth your money? Will my kids get airsick? Do we have to prepare winter clothes for this? Where's the best place for massages? How much is the package to Hong Kong Disneyland? Decisions~ Decisions~

Lotsa other stuff were happening on the fair grounds as well besides all the busy people choosing their holidays and more busy people attending to them. Customers were treated to various performances too! Woots! Bet you didn't see that in PWTC ey? :)

Prosperity drums goes ka-booom-boom

So does the Thai traditional dances too

SAVADEEKAAAA? :D :D *clasps hands together*

So if you missed it, (yeah I know some of you told me you did) don't worry! There's always the next MATTA Fair to plan your holiday getaways. But due to overwhelming response of the crowd, Mayflower extended their promotions till the 20th of March. Lucky us!

I'll be back next year! :D

I bet my family will bug me to ask when's the next one!

*credits to Nigel for the piccies!

Speaking of holidays, I miss the random holidays my friends and I always used to have back at my hometown. We would just steal a weekend, pick a spot to have our own picnics and mini holidays!

How old dya think I was in this piccie? We should definitely have a reunion – it's been ages!

I'd go to www.mayflower.com.my to pick our holiday anytime :D
